THE OTHER (Facebook) kehren nach fünf Jahren Pause mit ihrem Album „Alienated“ zurück. Als Horror-Punk-Band natürlich stilecht zu Halloween am 31.Oktober. Frisches Blut und auch die Rückkehr von Gründungsmitglied Andy Only wollen den Spirit der 80’er wieder aufleben lassen. Es ist oft eine spannende Geschichte, wenn Retrosound im modernem Sound-Gewand gekleidet einen zeitgemäßen Auftritt hinlegt. Vom Albumtitel „Alienated“ lässt sich ableiten, dass in den Songs um Verlorenheit bzw. Entfremdung in seinem Gesamtkontext geht.

Die erste Single „I Give You Creeps“ ist ein unfassbar starker Ohrwurm, der einem gar nicht mehr aus dem Kopf geht. Wunderbar eingängig ohne schmalzig oder kitschig zu wirken. Er entfesselt einfach ein erhebendes belebendes Gefühl mit einem kleinen Spritzer eingängiger hypnotischer Melancholie. Ausgezeichnete Melodieführung, die durch einen fabelhaften Gesang begleitet wird. Rod Usher phrasiert mit einem faszinierenden Charme, was den Song zwischen Bedrohung und Euphorie schweben lässt. Man kann gar nicht anders, als mitzusingen und den Song immer wieder und wieder von vorne erklingen zu lassen.

Ohrwürmer sind wirklich das Ding für THE OTHER.

Davon gibt es etliche auf dem Album und sie sind perfekt geeignet für Live-Gigs. Schon der Opener „Hellfire“ zündet und stimmt den Hörer standesgemäß auf die Horror-Punk-Party ein. Mit ‚Hier Sein‘ beweisen THE OTHER erneut, dass sie auch in ihrer Muttersprache glänzen. Dabei fragt man sich, warum es immer traditionell nur bei einem Song in deutscher Sprache bleibt. Gerade diese Stücke haben das Potenzial, die emotionale Wucht ihrer Musik noch direkter zu transportieren. Ein Ausbau dieser Tradition würde niemanden enttäuschen. Ganz im Gegenteil! Es könnte die Band noch unverwechselbarer machen.

Auf der Hälfte des Albums gönnen THE OTHER uns die Ballade „In The End„, dem thematisch düstersten Auftritt auf „Alienated“. Inhaltlich erzählt der Song von dem Tod, der Menschen am Sterbebett begleitet, ohne ihnen verraten zu dürfen, was kommt. Damit offenbaren THE OTHER, dass sie mehr als Horror-Punk-Partygaranten produzieren können. Die Ballade ist ein emotionaler Höhepunkt voller traumhaft melancholischer Melodien und Gesangslinien. Rod brilliert hier mit einer versöhnlichen Wärme. Ein Song, der zu Herzen geht.

Ein gehaltvoller Stimmungscoctail!

Wo meistens die Melancholie in den Songs von THE OTHER mitschwingt, so wird man diese bei der Gute-Laune-Nummer „Witch From Outa Space“ vergeblich suchen. Fresh blood and the return of founding member Andy Only aim to revive the spirit of the 80s. It is often an exciting story when retro sound, dressed in modern garb, makes a contemporary appearance.
