RAVEN (Facebook) gibt es bereits seit 1974! Gegründet wurde die Band von den Brüdern Brüder John und Mark Gallagher. „All Hell’s Breaking Loose“ ist nun schon das 15. Album der Band. Wer nun glaubt, dass die Brüder im fortgeschrittenen Alter langsam ruhiger und gesetzter werden, der sieht sich angesichts des neuen Albums vom Gegenteil überzeugt.

Verrückt, aber geil!

Denn schon alleine das Cover ist absolut verrückt. Im bunten Comicstil formiert sich ein Angriff auf Augen des Betrachters. Die Band innmitten von farbenfrohen Monstern und allerlei anderem Übel, was einem so widerfahren kann.

Das Cover offeriert also schon, was man auf dem Album erwarten darf. Jedenfalls keine Gute-Nacht-Geschichten, die zum Einschlafen animieren. RAVEN streben nach höherem und geben immer Vollgas. Dementsprechend passt so ein Song wie „Go For Gold“ natürlich super ins Programm. Und mit so einer Energiesspritze sind auf jeden Fall Höchstleistungen im sportlichen Bereich oder auch anderen Bereichen möglich. Der Drummer gibt Euch Arschtritte im Akkord. Die Riffs elektrisieren und das Solo ist einfach nur gigantisch. Wahnsinn, was die Männer noch für ein Feuer in sich haben. Total abgefahren! John singt mit seiner markant hohen Stimme, was eigentlich nicht so mein Fall ist. Aber ich muss zugeben, dass es gut zu dem Sound passt, auch wenn er manchmal stimmlich in Höhen schießt, dass mein Trommelfell Nahtoderfahrungen bekommt. Aber Metal bedeutet nun mal Leben am Limit! (Eine Dosis düsterer Death Metal sorgt wieder für Heilung )

Leuchtendes Gitarrengewitter und prügelnder Trommeldonner

Das Tempo auf dem Album ist durchgehend hoch und Ruhepausen oder gar ne Ballade darf man hier nicht erwarten. Dabei gelingt es RAVEN durchweg die Songs trotz all ihrer verrückten Wildheit nicht unstrukturiert rauszublasen, so dass man Gefahr laufen könnte den Hörer zu überfordern. Man behält immer die Übersicht. RAVEN garnieren ihre Songs nebenbei mit schönen griffigen Melodien, was für eine gewisse Eingängigkeit sorgt. Jedoch zündet nicht jeder Song granatenmäßig, wobei allerdings auch wirklich kein richtiger Stinker dabei ist.

Insgesamt bin ich vor allem von Mike Hellers Leistung an der Schießbude genauso beeindruckt wie von Marks virtuosen Gitarrenspiel. Zieht Euch mal den Beginn vom Song „Surf The Tsunami“ rein! Hammermäßig!

Fazit

„All Hell’s Breaking Loose“ von RAVEN ist eine verrückte Fahrt mit einem verdammt hohen Unterhaltungswert. Darüber hinaus gibt es über die gesamte Spielzeit nur satte harte Action, die Euch ins Schwitzen bringen wird. Ein echt starkes Album!

RAVEN has been around since 1974! The band was founded by the brothers John and Mark Gallagher. „All Hell’s Breaking Loose“ is now already the 15th album of the band. Who now thinks that the brothers in their advanced age become calmer and more sedate, sees himself convinced of the opposite.

Crazy, but awesome!

Because the cover alone is absolutely crazy. In colorful comic style forms an attack on the eyes of the viewer. The band in the midst of colorful monsters and all sorts of other evil that can happen to you.

The cover already offers what you can expect on the album. In any case, no bedtime stories to fall asleep. RAVEN strive for higher and always give full throttle. Accordingly, a song like „Go For Gold“ fits perfectly into the setlist. And with such an injection of energy, top performances in sports or other areas are definitely possible. The drummer gives you ass kicks. The riffs electrify and the solo is just gigantic. It’s crazy what kind of fire the men still have in them. Totally awesome!

John sings with his distinctive high voice, which is normally not my cup of tea. But I must admit that it fits very well to the sound, even if he sometimes shoots vocally in heights that my ears get near-death experiences. But Metal means life at the limit! (A dose of gloomy death metal provides healing again )

Lighting guitar and thrashing drum thunder

The pace on the album is consistently high and rest breaks or even a ballad can not be expected here. At the same time, RAVEN consistently succeeds in not blowing out the songs unstructured despite all their crazy wildness, so that one could run the risk of overwhelming the listener. One always keeps the overview. RAVEN garnish their songs with nice catchy melodies, which provides a certain catchiness. However, not every song ignites grenade-like, even if really no real stinker is there.

Overall, I’m just as impressed with Mike Heller’s performance at the shooting gallery as I am with Mark’s virtuoso guitar playing. Check out the beginning of the song „Surf The Tsunami“! Awesome!

Conclusion

„All Hell’s Breaking Loose“ from RAVEN is a crazy show with a damn high entertainment factor. In addition, there is over the entire playing time hot hard action that will make you sweat. A very strong album!
