Klassischer Metal

Es gibt Bands, denen meiner Meinung nach nie der Erfolg vergönnt war bzw. die Aufmerksamkeit zuteil wurde, die sie verdient hätten. ARMORED SAINT ist z.B. so eine Band. Die haben damals schon richtig geile Musik gemacht. Aber hier geht es nicht um diese Band, doch ich wurde an diese Band erinnert, als ich mir das neue Album „Time Knows No Lies“ von SIRIUS CURSE (Facebook ) angehört habe. Es ist das Debütalbum von SIRIUS CURSE, welches am 15.03.2021 das Licht der Welt erblickt. Die Scheibe rockt!!! Und wie sollte man solche Musik hören? Antwort:

„Loud“ !

Der Opener „Loud“ demonstriert direkt wie erdiger roher Metal klingen muss. Genau so! Der Welt des Metalsounds wird bei SIRIUS CURSE immer wieder von einem Meteoriteneinschlag mit massiven Rock-Brocken getroffen. Es gibt wahrlich viele Gründe dieses Album zu lieben. Knackige Riffs werden von präzisen Drums befeuert. Ein geiler Rhythmus, wo man mit muss. Interessant ist dabei, wieviel Gespür für Details die Männer innehaben. Es lohnt sich daher genauer hinzuhören, um das variantenreiche formidable Instrumentarium zu bewundern.

Vielseitigkeit

Ich würde SIRIUS CURSE jetzt nicht als typische Prog-Band bezeichnen, auch wenn ihr Sound sehr detailreich rüberkommt. SIRIUS CURSE verweben geschickt verschiedene Elemente, wechseln gerne auch mal in den Stimmungsbereichen. Doch letzten Endes gehen sie trotz allem geradlinig und konsequent zur Sache.

Trotz der vorrangig kraftvollen knackigen Erscheinung ist die melodiöse Komponente ein wichtiges Kriterium im Sound von SIRIUS CURSE. Dem wird besonders durch den Sänger Peter Hirsch die Krone aufgesetzt, der mit viel Gefühl und Kontrolle alle Stimmungen der Songs vortrefflich bedient. Ihr mögt es roh und saftig? Vielleicht mit einem Gedicht von Soße dabei? Dann hat Peter die richtigen Zutaten für Euch. Er würzt das Ganze mit seiner Rockröhre oder verwöhnt mit vortrefflich melodischem Gesang, wie z.B. beim wunderschönen Beginn von „The Sense“. Das ist eine Rezeptur, die Hunger auf mehr macht.

Hochkarätig ist nicht nur die Gitarrenarbeit, die auch abseits der Soli immer wieder begeistert. Bei dem Solo zu „Time Knows No Lies“ gibt es ein tolles Zusammenspiel zwischen Gitarre und Bass, zumal das zunächst entspannte Solo am Ende noch total eskaliert. Einfach super!

Kraft und Anmut

Die Kunst ein unterhaltsames Album zu erschaffen liegt darin, trotz eines grundlegenden bandtypischen Konzepts jeden Song so unterschiedlich zu gestalten, dass er sich in das Gesamtbild einfügt ohne (mit anderen Songs auf dem Album) austauschbar zu sein. Das ist SIRIUS CURSE hervorragend gelungen. Neben den schon erwähnten Songs wären da noch:

„Relax (It´s War)“ als flotter Rocker mit seinem verspielten und fröhlich anmutenden Gitarrensolo.

„No Tomorrow“ blickt dagegen mit seinem doomigen Anteil über den Abgrund in die Tiefe. Eine Portion Blues im Solo am Ende des Songs weiß ebenfalls sehr zu gefallen. (Hätte ruhig noch ausgiebiger ausfallen können.)

„Bondage“ rüttelt und schüttelt schön durch. Schreiende Gitarren. Druckvolle Drums. Schöne Tempiwechsel. Geile Melodien. Fetzige Soli!

„Crucified“ glänzt melodisch mit tollen Leads im Hintergrund. Eine cleane riffbefreite Bridge führt zu einem Weltklasse-Gitarrensolo.

Fazit

Alles, was das Rockerherz begehrt!

Wie könnte man SIRIUS CURSE nun beschreiben? Ich würde es so ausdrücken:

SIRIUS CURSE ist wie ein Tiger. Anmutig und elegant, aber auch voller Wildheit und Kraft, die entschlossen und präzise zuschlägt, einen im Genick packt und heftig durchschüttelt.

Wer etwas für frisch aufbereiteten pfiffigen klassischen Metal mit rockiger Attitüde übrig hat, der sollte sich dieses Album auf jeden Fall zu Gemüte führen. Je öfter man es hört, desto mehr Feinheiten werden sich offenbaren. So fahren SIRIUS CURSE fette 8 Punkte ein mit einer deutlichen Tendenz zum 9´er Bereich.

There are bands that, in my opinion, have never been granted the success or attention they deserve. ARMORED SAINT is such a band. They made really great music back then. But the review is not about this band, but I was reminded of this band when I listened to the new album „Time Knows No Lies“ by SIRIUS CURSE (Facebook ). „Time Knows No Lies“ is the debut album of SIRIUS CURSE, which will see the light of day on 15.03.2021. Even though it is a debut album, there are no bloody beginners here, but seasoned musicians at the start. How should you listen to such music? Answer:

„Loud“ !

The opener „Loud“ directly demonstrates how tough raw metal has to sound. Exactly like this! The metal sound of SIRIUS CURSE is repeatedly hit by a meteorite impact with massive Rock-Music-Chunks. There are truly many reasons to love this album. Crisp riffs are fuelled by precise drums. An awesome rhythm where you have to go along. It is interesting how much sense for details the men have. It is therefore worth listening more closely to admire the richly varied formidable instrumentation.

Versatility

I wouldn’t call SIRIUS CURSE a typical prog band, even though their sound is very detailed. SIRIUS CURSE skilfully interweave different elements and like to change moods sometimes. But at the end of the day, they are still straightforward and consistent.

Despite the primarily powerful, crunchy appearance, the melodic component is an important criterion in the sound of SIRIUS CURSE. This is crowned by the singer Peter Hirsch, who serves all moods of the songs excellently with a lot of feeling and control. You like it raw and bloody? Maybe with a poem of sauce thrown in? Then Peter has the right ingredients for you. He spices the whole thing up with his rock voice or spoils us with soulful melodic vocals, such as in the beautiful beginning of „The Sense“. This is a recipe that makes you hungry for more.

Top class is not only the guitar work, which also inspires again and again apart from the solos. In the song „Time Knows No Lies“ there is a nice interplay between guitar and bass, especially as the solo totally escalates at the end. Simply cool!

Strength and grace

The art of creating an entertaining album lies in the fact that, despite a basic band-typical concept, each song is so different that it fits into this overall picture without being interchangeable (with other songs on the album). SIRIUS CURSE succeeded brilliantly in this. Besides the songs already mentioned, there are:

For example:

„Relax (It’s War)“ as a jaunty rocker with its playful and cheerful guitar solo.

„No Tomorrow“, on the other hand, looks over the abyss into the depths with its doomy kind. A portion of blues in the solo at the end is also pleasing. ( It could have been more extensive for me.)

„Bondage“ shakes and jolts nicely. Screaming guitars. Powerful drums. Nice tempo changes. Horny melodies. Wild solos!

„Crucified“ shines melodically and a clean riff-free bridge leads to a world-class guitar solo.

Fazit

Everything a rocker’s heart desires!

How could one describe SIRIUS CURSE now? I would put it this way: SIRIUS CURSE is like a tiger. Graceful and elegant, but also full of ferocity and power that strikes with determination and precision, grabs you in the neck and shakes you violently.

If you like freshly prepared intelligent classic metal with a rock attitude, you should definitely check out this album. The more you listen to it, the more subtleties will reveal themselves. So SIRIUS CURSE get fat 8 points with a clear tendency towards the 9’s range.
