sind eine schwedische Rockband und können bereits auf eine lange Karriere und Diskografie zurückblicken. Aktuell haben sie die Single „Whiskey Tango Foxtrott“ veröffentlicht. Eine wunderbarer eingängiger waschechter 80′ er Jahre Rocksong, der zudem noch mit Videoschnipseln des Kultfilms „Tango & Cash“ bebildert wird. Das neue Album „Two Shots at Glory“ von CRAZY LIXX (Facebook) soll übrigens in einem frühen Abschnitt des nächsten Jahres erscheinen. Hier ein Statement der Band zur neuen Single.

Als ich ein Kind war, konnte man anhand der Hauptdarsteller leicht erkennen, ob ein Film gut sein würde. Wenn Sylvester Stallone oder Kurt Russell auftraten, wusste man ziemlich sicher, dass es eineinhalb Stunden lang unterhaltsame 80er-Jahre-Action geben würde. Wenn man beide in einen Film steckt, dann verdoppelt sich der Spaß, nicht wahr? Und wenn man dann noch die umwerfende Teri Hatcher hinzufügt, erhält man „Tango & Cash“ von 1989 Hier sind einige meiner Lieblingsszenen aus diesem Film zur Melodie unserer neuesten Single.

DANKO JONES

ist ebenfalls ein bekannter Prediger des Rock ’n‘ Roll. Seine neuste Single heißt „Get High?“ und ist einfach ein megalustiger Song, der mit einem dementsprechenden geilen Video visuell umgesetzt wurde. DANKO JONES “ (Facebook) hatte sichtlich Spaß an diesem Video und diesen werdet ihr auch haben. Da bin ich mir sicher! Der Song stammt übrigens aus dem neuen Album „Electric Sounds“, auf dem ihr noch mehr super Rocksongs finden werdet, die euch mit guter Laune versorgen werden.

THE SOUTHERN RIVER BAND

haben sich den Ruf als einer der besten Live-Acts Australiens erspielt. Ihr zweites Album „Rumour & Innuendo“ wurde im Jahr 2019 veröffentlicht, das von Fans und Kritikern gleichermaßen begeistert aufgenommen wurde. Nun gibt es die neue Single „Stan Qualen“. Und wer sich die Mucke anhört und dabei die Jungs im Video reinzieht, der wird sich folgendes sagen: „Geile Scheisse! Die Kerle sind der Hammer! Ich brauche ne Kiste Bier und meine Luftgitarre! Und außerdem will ich diese Hammertruppe live sehen!“

sind eine junge Band aus England kommen mit einem ganz lockeren eingängigen und zugleich energischen Song daher. „Mama“ heißt er und ist ein schöner klassischer kurzweiliger Rock ’n‘ Roller, der einfach durch seine direkte herzliche unbeschwerte rockige Art begeistert. Schenkt THE STRAY PURSUIT (Facebook) mal drei Minuten eurer Zeit. Ihr werdet es sicherlich nicht bereuen! Der Song wird die aufgeheizte Stimmung aus den vorigen Songs nicht schmälern, sondern weiter anheizen. „Mama“ ist für jede Rock-Party ein Gewinn!

BIG IRON

aus Schottland hatten wir euch vor kurzem bereits mit ihrer neuen EP „It Gets Bigger“ vorgestellt (Review). Nun ist ganz frisch die neue Single „The Mask“ veröffentlicht worden. Und wie bereits im Review beschrieben, ist auch „The Mask“ ein astreiner Hardrock Song, der bestens zu unterhalten weiß. Ohnehin verbreiten BIG IRON (Facebook) mit ihrer humorigen Art sehr viel Spaß!

are a Swedish rock band and can already look back on a long career and discography. Currently they have released the single „Whiskey Tango Foxtrot“. When I was a kid, it was easy to tell if a movie was going to be good based on the lead actors. If Sylvester Stallone or Kurt Russell appeared, you pretty much knew there was going to be an hour and a half of entertaining ’80s action. Put them both in one movie and the fun doubles, right? And when you add the stunning Teri Hatcher, you get „Tango & Cash“ from 1989 Here are some of my favorite scenes from that movie set to the tune of our latest single.

are a young band from England come up with a very casual catchy and at the same time energetic song. It’s called „Mama“ and it’s a classic high entertaining rock ’n‘ roller, which simply inspires with its direct hearty carefree rocky vein. Give THE STRAY PURSUIT (Facebook) three minutes of your time. You will certainly not regret it! The song will not diminish the heated mood from the previous songs, but will heat it up further. „Mama“ is an asset to any rock party!

BIG IRON (Facebook) sind wieder einmal eine Entdeckung während der täglichen Suche nach tollen Songs für unsere Playlist „METALHEADs new stuff„. Natürlich bekommen wir als Webzine einen unglaubliche Flut von E-Mails, so dass wir eigentlich nicht selber aktiv nach Bands suchen müssten. Und doch finde ich immer wieder neue noch unbekannte Bands, die mich vom Hocker hauen. Es gibt so viele verdammt geile Underground-Bands, die unglaublich gute Musik machen. Und wir von ‚metal-heads.de‘ wollen unsere Plattform nutzen, um auch gerade diese Bands zu unterstützen.

Das rockt!

BIG IRON kommen aus Schottland (Edinburgh) und spielen satten Hardrock. „River Runs Dry“ ist zwar schon die zweite Single aus der kommenden EP. Jedoch war diese Single mein erster Eindruck von der Band. Und ich war direkt total begeistert von den Jungs. Der Song ist ein Knaller! Moderner, aber geradliniger Hardrock, der einerseits ziemlich cool und locker daherkommt, aber auch gleichzeitig druckvoll und massiv klingt. Die Country Vibes zu Beginn kommen gut rüber. Dazu gesellen sich noch weitere pfiffige Arrangements mit frischen Ideen und fertig ist ein fantastischer Song. Zudem haben die Jungs eine so tolle Ausstrahlung, allen voran der Sänger Oliver Wardell. Die Jungs versprühen einfach gute Laune und der Funke springt sofort über.

Ideenreich

Wie bereits erwähnt, gefallen mir die Arrangements in den Songs. Grundsätzlich ist ein charakteristischer Sound erkennbar, aber trotzdem gleicht kein Song dem anderen. Das fördert natürlich den Unterhaltungswert. Handwerklich ist man auf der sicheren Seite. Auf jeder Position gibt es eine einwandfreie Darbietung. Sänger Oliver Wardell macht am Mikro eine super Figur und das Drumming (James Chapman) ist schön lebendig. Und den prägnanten Bass (Arran Gregory) begrüße ich sehr, denn dieser verpasst dem Sound einen druckvollen Groove.

Darüber hinaus darf man sich an der Gitarrenarbeit von Jack Sandilands und Kieran Johnston mit scharfen Riffs und extrem starken Solos erfreuen. Kieran Johnston wurde übrigens schon im Jahr 2020 vom Meister Joe Satriani persönlich gelobt. Dieser hat auf eine seiner Darbietung mit folgendem Kommentar reagiert:

Gitarrist von Kieran Johnston wechselt in „Perfect Dust“ nahtlos zwischen modernen, blitzschnellen Läufen und geschmackvollen klassischen Rock-Phrasierungen. Er schreddert immer mit Geschmack und Stil.

Fazit

BIG IRON können mit ihrer EP „It Gets Bigger“ direkt vier Volltreffer landen. Ihr bekommt vier satte Hardrock-Kracher geboten, die mit knackiger Härte, aber auch viel lockerem Charme auftrumpfen. Dabei begeistern sie mit ideenreichen frischen Arrangements und Hooks, die euch volle Kanne mitreißen und ausflippen lassen. Somit dürft ihr euch auf diese EP freuen und hoffen, dass die Band auch bald die Clubs in Deutschland besuchen wird.

BIG IRON (Facebook) are once again a discovery during my daily search for great songs adding to our playlist „METALHEADs new stuff„. Of course, as a webzine, we get an incredible flood of emails, so we wouldn’t actually have to actively search for bands ourselves. And yet I always find new yet unknown bands that blow me away. There are so many fucking awesome underground bands that make incredibly good music. And we at ‚metal-heads.de‘ want to use our platform to support these bands as well.

That rocks!

BIG IRON come from Scotland (Edinburgh) and play hard rock. „River Runs Dry“ is already the second single from the upcoming EP „It Get’s Bigger“. However, this single was my first impression of the band. And I was directly totally enthusiastic about the guys. The song is a blast! Modern, but straightforward hard rock, which on the one hand comes along pretty cool and loose, but also sounds powerful and massive at the same time. The country vibes at the beginning come across well. Add to that some more snazzy arrangements with fresh ideas and you’ve got a fantastic song. In addition, the guys have such a great charisma, especially singer Oliver Wardell. The guys just radiate good mood and the spark jumps over immediately.

Imaginative

As already mentioned, I like the arrangements in the songs. Basically, a characteristic sound is recognizable, but still no song is like the other. Of course, this promotes the entertainment value. Craftsmanship is on the safe side. There is a flawless performance on every position. Singer Oliver Wardell cuts a super figure on the mic and the drumming (James Chapman) is nicely lively. And I really welcome the incisive bass (Arran Gregory), as it adds a punchy groove to the sound.

In addition, one may enjoy the guitar work of Jack Sandilands and Kieran Johnston with striking riffs and extremely strong solos. By the way, Kieran Johnston was already praised by the master Joe Satriani personally in 2020. The latter reacted to one of his performances with the following comment:

Kieran Johnston jumps into some ‚Perfect Dust‘ seamlessly switching between modern, blinding-fast runs and tasteful classic rock phrasing. He always shreds with taste and style.

Here is the first single „Denizens“, where you can see that the band is full of humor and having fun with music. A different kind of church music… Very funny

Conclusion

BIG IRON can land four strong hits with their EP „It Gets Bigger“. You get four lush hard rock firecrackers, which trump up with crisp hardness, but also a lot of casual charm. They inspire with imaginative fresh arrangements and hooks. All in all an entertaining sound to have a lot of joy. So you can look forward to this EP and hope that the band will soon visit the clubs in Germany with some more songs in the baggage.
