Zwar bleibt der Langspieler weitgehend in einem unteren bis mittleren Tempo-Bereich. Doch mit jedem Takt zieht der depressive Black Metal der Ein-Mann-Band von Ausnahmemusiker Georg Börner seine Hörerschaft weiter in den Bann. Immer tiefer hinein in ein Klangkonstrukt aus sich langsam aufschaukelnden Wogen voller Weltschmerz und Melancholie. Und der mal subtile, mal prominent gesetzte Streichereinsatz betont beides drastisch. Das erinnert stellenweise sogar an die My Dying Bride der 1990er Jahre. Ein nasskalter, nebliger Herbsttag, komprimiert zu 43 Minuten musikalischer Herzensschwere.

Review: ColdWorld „Isolation“

ColdWorld’s new release „Isolation“ comes along almost like an Black Metal instrumental album. That’s how sparingly the vocals are used on this atmospherically great album. That is evident right from the start. Because a three-minute intro is followed by an eight-minute long instrumental piece. ColdWorld’s „Isolation“ is neither monotonous nor soft.

The long player remains largely in a lower to medium tempo range. But with every bar, the depressive Black Metal of the one-man band of exceptional musician Georg Börner continues to fascinate his listeners. Deeper and deeper into a sound construct of slowly rising waves full of world pain and melancholy. And the sometimes subtle, sometimes prominent use of strings drastically emphasizes both. It’s even reminiscent of the My Dying Bride of the 1990s. A wet, cold, foggy autumn day, compressed into 43 minutes of musical heartbreak.
