BEYOND THE HATE (Facebook) aus Finnland werden am 08.03.2024 ihr Debüt „Darkest Times“ herausbringen. Es ist wieder eine Band, die sich durch starke Singles im Vorfeld bei mir für ein Review empfohlen hat. Es ist immer ein bisschen wie Goldgräberstimmung, wenn ich mich selber durch die unzähligen Neuveröffentlichungen wühle und dabei großartige Bands entdecke. So auch bei BEYOND THE HATE! Das Album „Darkest Times“ ist mit einer Stunde Spielzeit jedenfalls keine kurze Reise.

Es war die Single „Alone I Die“, die mich als erstes fasziniert und infiziert hatte. Umgehend ertönt die mächtige Soundwalze und es dauert nicht lange, bis diese an Fahrt aufnimmt. BEYOND THE HATE feuern dabei gerne mal Salven von Blastbeatattacken raus. Der Refrain ist einfach nur geil und hat mich sofort gepackt. Viel Melodie gepaart mit einem durch und durch kraftvollen Sound entfalten ein monumentales Soundgefüge, welches niemanden unbeeindruckt lässt.

Eine dunkle Welt

zeichnen BEYOND THE HATE, wobei stets eine epische Ader die Blutbahnen der Songs durchzieht. Die melodische Schwermut strahlt in ihrer Vehemenz auch eine gewisse Wärme aus, in der man sich irgendwie wohl fühlt. Große Momente entstehen, wenn der Sound dann doch mal aus sich herauskommt und das dunkle Unwetter losdonnert. Doch man wird dahingehend nicht vor den Kopf gestoßen. Alles ist fließt in einem harmonischen Gefüge ineinander.

Hier gibt es aber einen kleinen Anlaß zur Kritik. Das Album hat eine Spielzeit von 60 Minuten. Und für diese lange Reise passiert dann doch zu wenig überraschendes und es wird etwas vorhersehbar. Da würde ich mir noch einige konzeptionelle Ideen wünschen, um die Reise etwas abwechslungsreicher zu gestalten. Ein Beispiel für solche Ideen findet sich z.B. in der Ballade „Black Within“.

BEYOND THE HATE zeigen, dass auch eine Ballade nicht immer eine seichte Angelegenheit sein muss. Es beginnt zwar düsterzart mit Gastsängerin Katri Hiovain-Asikainen, doch im folgenden entwickelt der Song nach und nach seine ganze dunkle Kraft und man kann diesem eine starke Anziehungskraft wahrlich nicht absprechen.

Fazit

BEYOND THE HATE legen mit „Darkest Times“ ein hochwertiges Debüt vor, das mit seinem vehementen Sound eine Welt der dunklen Schwermut erschafft. Es wird eine angenehm dichte Atmosphäre erschaffen, die in sich sehr stimmig ist und in die man wunderbar eintauchen kann. Das ist ein Sound, der sicherlich noch Entwicklungspotential besitzt, aber bereits auf diesem Debüt sehr beeindruckend präsentiert wird.

BEYOND THE HATE (Facebook) from Finland will release their debut „Darkest Times“ on March 8, 2024. It’s another band that has recommended itself to me for a review in advance with strong singles. It’s always a bit like being in a gold-rush mood when I browse through the countless new releases and discover great bands. This is also the case with BEYOND THE HATE! With a playing time of one hour, the album „Darkest Times“ is certainly not a short journey.

It was the single „Alone I Die“ that first fascinated and infected me. Immediately, the mighty blast of sound begins and it doesn’t take long for it to pick up speed. In this context, it should be mentioned that BEYOND THE HATE like to attack with blastbeats in their songs. The chorus is simply awesome and grabbed me immediately. Lots of melody paired with a thoroughly powerful sound unfold a monumental sound that leaves no one unimpressed.

A dark world

characterize BEYOND THE HATE, whereby an epic vein always runs through the bloodstream of the songs. The melodic melancholy also radiates a certain warmth in its vehemence, which somehow makes you feel comfortable all the time. Great moments arise when the sound comes out of its shell and the dark storm thunders away. But you don’t get offended by this. Everything flows into each other in a harmonious structure.

However, there is a small cause for criticism here. The album has a playing time of a long 60 minutes. And for this long journey, too few surprises happen and it becomes somewhat predictable. I would like to hear a few more conceptual ideas to make the journey a little more varied. An example of such ideas can be found in the ballad „Black Within“.

BEYOND THE HATE show that even a ballad doesn’t always have to be a shallow affair. Although it begins darkly tender with guest vocalist Katri Hiovain-Asikainen, the song gradually develops its full dark power and you really can’t deny its strong appeal.

Conclusion

With „Darkest Times“, BEYOND THE HATE present a high-quality debut that creates a world of dark melancholy with its vehement sound. A pleasantly dense atmosphere is created, which is very coherent in itself and into which you can immerse yourself wonderfully. This is a sound that certainly still has potential for development, but is already presented very impressively on this debut.
