Black Metal

beschreibt den grundlegenden Sound von NIGHTED (Facebook). Aber erst mal zu anderen Facts über die frisch gegründete Band, die sich wie einige andere Bands im Lockdown-Cokon entwickelte und reifte. Aus dem Cocon entfaltete sich schließlich ein dunkler Schmetterling namens NIGHTED. Ein paar leuchtende Punkte stechen auf den Flügeln hervor, denn der Sound ist nicht nur purer düsterer Black Metal. Die Band stellte sich die Frage, ob man Black Metal mit dem crazy prägnanten Synthiesound der 70′ er Jahre vermischen könnte.

Wer kommt auf so eine Idee?

Ivo Henzi war lange Gitarrist und Sänger (2004-2016) der sehr bekannten Schweizer Folk-Metal-Band ELUVEITIE (außerdem tätig bei CELLAR DARLING,FOREST OF FOG). Dann wäre da noch Mitstreiter Marc Petralito, der die Synthesizer bei APPEARANCE OF NOTHING bedient. Man hatte wohl Lust auf etwas neues und steckte die Köpfe zusammen. Herausgekommen ist dieses verrückte Vorhaben.

Über „AEONS“ sagt Ivo Henzi folgendes:

Mit ‚Aeons‘ ist Nighted geboren. Im Gesamtkontext des Albums ist dies sowohl der schnellste als auch der längste Song. Wir haben eine 10 Jahre alte Riff-Idee von mir aufgegriffen und komplett neu interpretiert, um einen Track zu formen, der eine zerstörerische Reise von interdimensionalen Wesen beschreibt, stark beeinflusst von alten Science-Fiction-Geschichten. Marc und mir war sofort klar, dass dies der richtige Song war, um Nighted der Welt vorzustellen.

Die Single „AEONS“ – Ein Megabrett

Zunächst kommen die Besonderheiten noch nicht zum Vorschein. Es beginnt wie ein klassischer Black Metal Song. Die Trommelfelle werden mit rasenden Blastbeats verdroschen. Dazu gesellen sich fliegende melodische Leads. Ivo Henzi schmettert dazu die passenden zerstörerischen Vocals. Doch man merkt schnell, dass hier nichts nach Standardschema runtergeschrabbelt wird. Der harsche Sound wird immer wieder durch geschickte Tempi- und Stimmungswechsel spannend gehalten. Und schließlich ertönen ab Minute 04:45 die angekündigten Hammond Orgel Klänge. Das klingt echt cool! Insgesamt macht der Song richtig Dampf und spielt sich in epische Sphären. Mir gefällt es sehr gut und von mir aus könnte man ruhig noch ein wenig extravaganter und mutiger zu Werke gehen. Aber ich habe mir sagen lassen, dass der eine oder andere Song noch ungewöhnlicher erklingen wird. Man darf gespannt sein! So… genug gelabert…. Hier ist das Brett!

„Aeons“ wurde von Anna Murphy (Cellar Darling, Eluveitie & viele mehr) im Sound Farm Studio (Facebook) in Luzern aufgenommen und abgemischt. Das Schlagzeug wurde von Session-Drummer Dylan Watson (Kassogtha) eingespielt und das Mastering von Dan Suter (Coroner, Eluveitie, Krokus & viele mehr) durchgeführt. NIGHTED sind bei dem neu gegründeten Heavy Music Label ‚Klang Machine Records‘ (Facebook) unter Vertrag, das von Schlagzeuger und Künstlermanager Merlin Sutter mitbegründet wurde. Er selbst ist durch seine Karrieren bei Cellar Darling und Eluveitie bekannt.

Black Metal

describes the basic sound of NIGHTED (Facebook) ). But first to other facts about the freshly formed band, which also developed and matured in the lockdown cocoon. Out of the cocoon finally unfolded a dark butterfly called NIGHTED. A few bright spots stand out on the wings, because the sound is not just pure gloomy black metal. The guys asked themselves if Black Metal could be mixed with the crazy synth sound of the 70′.

Who comes up with such an idea?

Ivo Henzi was a long time guitarist and singer (2004-2016) of the very famous Swiss folk metal band ELUVEITIE (also active with CELLAR DARLING,FOREST OF FOG). Then there would be fellow member Marc Petralito, who handles the synthesizers in APPEARANCE OF NOTHING. They were in the mood for something new and put their heads together. The result is this crazy project.

About „AEONS“ Ivo Henzi says the following:

With ‘Aeons’, Nighted is born. In the overall context of the album, this is both the fastest and the longest song. We took up a 10 year-old riff idea of mine and reinterpreted it completely, to form a track that describes a destructive journey of interdimensional beings, heavily influenced by old science fiction stories. Marc and I realised immediately that this was the right song to introduce Nighted to the world.

Single „AEONS“ – A blast!

At first, the special features don’t come out yet. It starts like a classic Black Metal song. The ears are thrashed with furious blast beats. In addition, flying melodic leads join. Ivo Henzi belts out the destructive vocals. But you quickly notice that NIGHTED plays no standard pattern. The harsh sound is kept exciting again and again by clever changes of tempo and mood. And finally from minute 04:45 the announced Hammond organ sounds are heard. That sounds really cool! Overall, the song really makes steam and plays in epic spheres. I like it very much and in my opinion they could go still a little more extravagantly and more courageously. But I was told that some songs will sound even more unusual. We can be curious about that! So… enough babbling…. Here comes the blast!

The drums were recorded by session drummer Dylan Watson (Kassogtha) and the mastering was done by Dan Suter (Coroner, Eluveitie, Krokus & many more). NIGHTED are signed to the newly formed heavy music label ‚Klang Machine Records‘ (Facebook), co-founded by drummer and artist manager Merlin Sutter. He himself is known for his careers with Cellar Darling and Eluveitie.
