DYMYTRY (Facebook/Homepage) aus Tschechien sind keine Unbekannten mehr. In ihrem Heimatland sind sie bereits schon seit längerer Zeit Stars und mittlerweile bekommen sie auch international viel Aufmerksamkeit. Doch sie wollen mehr! Das neue Album „Five Angry Men“ soll ihnen dabei helfen. Dann wollen wir mal hören, was die Band so neues zu bieten hat, die ihren Sound auch als Psy-Core bezeichnen. Das letzte Album „Revolt“ aus dem Jahr 2021 war bereits sehr hörenswert, aber ich hätte mir stellenweise mehr härteren Druck gewünscht.

Der Opener „Enemy List“

klingt unverkennbar nach DYMYTRY. Eine einfach strukturierter eingängiger Song, der gut unterhält und das Album standesgemäß einleitet. Es wurde sogar ein kleines feines Gitarrensolo eingebaut. Im Hintergrund sorgen Synthies für einen atmosphärischen klanglichen Background. Der Härtegrad bleibt hier noch moderat.

DYMYTRY verbinden ihren wuchtigen Sound mit einem guten Gespür für melodische Hooklines ohne dabei zu kitschig und soft zu wirken. Das Konzept geht auch auf dem neuen Album voll auf und wurde noch weiter ausgebaut. Die meisten Songs sind hervorragend dafür geeignet das Publikum bei Live-Auftritten mitzureißen. Die Refrains kann man wunderbar mitsingen. Das wird auf jeden Fall die Stimmung fördern.

Vielseitiges Songmaerial

Dabei sorgt die Band mit verschiedenen Ideen für willkommene Abwechslung in ihrem Sound. Man höre sich z.B. den Song „In Death We Trust“ an, der sich mit den zerstörerischen Folgen von Robert Oppenheimers Entwicklung der Atombombe beschäftigt. Nach einem verhaltenen Start wird der Song massiver und DYMYTRY lassen ihre harten Muskeln zucken. Natürlich darf der eingängige Chorus nicht fehlen. Doch das Highlight wird ab der dritten Minute gezündet, wo ein starkes Solo in dem Song noch einmal ein extra heißes Feuer zündet.

„Wake Me Up Before You Go Go“ war ein großer Hit der britischen Band WHAM! Ich musste unweigerlich daran denken, als ich „Wake Me Up Before I Die“ las. Allerdings hat der Song musikalisch nichts mit dem Klassiker zu tun. Hier feiern DYMYTRY eine richtige Party mit einem unkomplizierten Song. Eine weitere Facette ist die Power-Ballade „Legends Never Die“, die mit schönen Gesangslinien einwandfrei vorgetragen wird und somit durchaus als gelungen bezeichnet werden kann. Cooler und lässiger kommt dagegen der düstere Rocksong „Three Steps To Hell“ rüber, der gerade in den pumpenden Strophen kraftvoll nach vorne treibt und voll Bock macht.

In Sachen Härtegrad sticht der Song „Everything Is Black“ deutlich hervor. Hier lassen es DYMYTRY richtig krachen. Mir gefallen die harten schnellen Attacken plus dem rasanten Solo. Selbstverständlich darf aber auch hier ein harmonischer Refrain nicht fehlen. Einer meiner Favoriten von dem Album.

Die größte stilistische Überraschung

des Albums stellt der ans Ende gesetzte Titeltrack „Five Angry Men“ dar. Mit einer schrägen Mixtur aus Metal und Rap, die mit einem noch schrägeren Video umgesetzt wurde, können DYMYTRY ebenfalls mit einer witzigen Idee und Umsetzung vollkommen überzeugen. Man sieht also, dass der Band Humor nicht fremd ist und immer für eine Überraschung gut sind. Eine irrer Track, der mit explosiven Ausbrüchen für mächtig Krach sorgt. Cooles Teil!

Fazit

DYMYTRY setzen ihren Weg mit „Five Angry Men“ konsequent fort. Dabei geizen sie nicht mit tollen Ideen, so dass das ganze Album ein sehr abwechslungsreiches und unterhaltsames Hörvergnügen liefert. DYMYTRY setzen dabei auf angenehm eingängige Songs und würzen das Ganze mit einer knackigen Härte.

DYMYTRY (Facebook/Homepage) from the Czech Republic have been stars in their home country for quite some time and are now also attracting a lot of international attention. But they want more! The new album „Five Angry Men“ should help them achieve this. Let’s hear what the band, who describe their sound also as psy-core, has to offer. The last album „Revolt“ from 2021 was already well worth listening to, but I would have liked to hear more heavy pressure in places.

The opener „Enemy List“

sounds unmistakably like DYMYTRY. A simply structured, catchy song that entertains well and introduces the album appropriately. There is even a fine little guitar solo included. Synths in the background provide an atmospheric sound background. The degree of heaviness remains moderate here.

DYMYTRY combine their hard sound with a good feel for melodic hooklines without being too cheesy or soft. The concept is also fully realized on the new album and has been expanded even further. Most of the songs are perfectly suited to catch the at live performances. The choruses are wonderful to sing along to. That will definitely boost the mood in front of the stage.

A multifaceted experience

The band provides welcome variety in their sound with a good range of nice ideas. For example, listen to the song „In Death We Trust“, which deals with the destructive consequences of Robert Oppenheimer’s development of the atomic bomb. After a restrained start, the song becomes more massive and DYMYTRY flex their hard muscles. Of course, the catchy chorus is a must. But the highlight is ignited from the third minute onwards. A strong solo gives the song an extra hot fire.

„Wake Me Up Before You Go Go“ was a big hit for the British band WHAM! I couldn’t help but think of it when I read „Wake Me Up Before I Die“. However, the song has no musical connection to the classic hit. Here, DYMYTRY celebrate a proper party with an uncomplicated song. Another facet is the power ballad „Legends Never Die“, which is performed flawlessly with beautiful vocal lines and can therefore definitely be described as successful. The dark rock song „Three Steps To Hell“, on the other hand, is much cooler and more laid-back, driving powerfully forward, especially in the pumping verses.

In terms of heaviness, the song „Everything Is Black“ clearly stands out. DYMYTRY really let it rip here. I like the hard, fast attacks plus the rapid solo. Of course, a harmonious chorus should not be missing here either. One of my favorites from the album.

The biggest surprise

of the album is the title track „Five Angry Men“, which is placed at the end of the album. With a quirky mixture of metal and rap, which was realized with an even quirkier video, DYMYTRY can also completely convince with a funny idea and implementation. So you can see that the band are no strangers to humor, don’t always take themselves so seriously and are always good for a surprise. A crazy track that makes a lot of noise with explosive outbursts. Cool track!

Conclusion

DYMYTRY consistently continue on their path with „Five Angry Men“. They have good entertaining ideas in their sound, so that the whole album has become a very varied metal party. DYMYTRY rely on very catchy songs and spice the whole thing up with a crisp heaviness.
