BLAZING ETERNITY (Facebook) aus Dänemark werden mit ihrem Album „A Certain End Of Everything“ für Begeisterungsstürme sorgen. Da bin ich mir sehr sicher. Wer auf die alte Kultband ‚Paradise Lost“ oder auch die moderneren ‚Marianas Rest‘ abfährt, der wird sich hier mehr als wohlfühlen. Es war schon nach dem ersten Hören für mich klar, dass dieses Album eines meiner Highlights in diesem Jahr werden wird. Es hat mein Herz erobert.

Eine andere Welt

Bei diesem Album werdet eine traumhafte Reise antreten. Von den ersten Momenten im Opener „One Thousand Lights“ bis zu den letzten Tönen beim finalen „The Bells“ wird euch die Musik gefangennehmen und nicht mehr loslassen. Ihr werdet euch fallenlassen und euch einfach 46 Minuten den wundervollen Klängen hingeben.

„One Thousand Lights“ malt mit beeindruckenden Melodien ein zauberhaftes Gemälde, dass dem Begriff Epik mehr als nur gerecht wird. Es ist einfach nur wunderbar. Der Song ist noch nicht einmal sonderlich kompliziert aufgebaut. Alles ist sehr eingängig konzipiert, so dass er sich wie von selbst in die Ohren schmeichelt. Die harschen Vocals von Sänger Peter Mesnickow ändern daran gar nichts. Sie bilden vielmehr einen gern gehörten und fesselnden Kontrast zu dem hochmelodischen Klangteppich, der neben dem melodischem Riffing noch durch Synthies atmosphärisch aufgepeppt wird. Sie bereichern den Sound in stimmungsvoller Art und Weise. Beim Song „One Thousand Lights“ spielen sie ab der vierten Minute ihre Stärken aus und verleihen dem Sound eine fesselnde Tiefe.

Meere der Melancholie

Trotz des rauen Gesangs lassen BLAZING ETERNITY tiefe Meere von gefühlvollen Harmonien entstehen. Es ist sogar so, dass der Gesang mehr Emotionen verkörpert als man vielleicht meinen könnte. Durch die extremen Vocals werden die Gefühlsebenen auf eine spezielle Art und Weise ausgedrückt, die sehr beeindruckend und berührend ist. Die Band schafft es mit den Songs eine Klanglandschaft von herzzerreißender Traurigkeit zu erschaffen , aber es gleichzeitig mit einer wunderschönen Epik zu veredeln, die das Licht in der Dunkelheit erstrahlen lässt und der Hoffnung Flügel verleiht.

Tragische Umstände während der Entstehung des Albums spielten eine Rolle und prägten diese gefühlsbetonte Musik. Denn nachdem sich die Band nach langer Pause wieder zusammengefunden hatte, überschatteten zwei traurige Ereignisse diese Zeit. Ich zitiere hier den Pressetext:

Die Band begann 2018 heimlich mit der Arbeit an neuem Material. Aber mit großen Herausforderungen im Prozess. Erstens der Tod von Sänger Peter Mesnickows langjähriger Frau Lilja und zweitens der Tod von Blazing Eternity Live-Keyboarder Jens Hansen. Faszinierende Reise

Wenn man die Augen schließt und den Kompositionen lauscht, dann intensivieren sich die Eindrücke meiner Meinung noch mehr. Man kann und will sich dem musikalischen Fluss gar nicht entziehen und genießt die ganze Reise von vorne bis hinten. Die musikalische Grundstimmung zieht sich durch das gesamte Album. Es gibt keine plötzlichen Überraschungen. Normalerweise ist das für mich ein Grund irgendwann gelangweilt zu sein, doch das passiert mir hier tatsächlich nicht. So genau kann ich es wirklich nicht erklären, aber die Kompositionen haben das gewisse Etwas, eine Magie, die mich verzaubert und von der ich nicht genug bekommen kann. Es ist wirklich schwer zu erklären. Manche Menschen werden es vielleicht auch anders wahrnehmen, doch ich bin hin und weg von dieser Musik.

Das trifft ebenso auf den Titeltrack „A Certain End Of Everything“ zu. Intensive Emotionen suchen ihren Weg in endloser Trauer und der Gesang vermittelt diesen dunklen Abgrund besonders in der ersten Hälfte. Doch in der zweiten Hälfte des Songs verändert sich die Stimmung ein wenig und es mischt sich eine leicht hoffnungsvolle Komponente hinein, indem man versöhnliche cleane und harsche Vocals zusammen erklingen lässt. Zeitgleich vermag der Sound mit den stimmungsvollen Synthies und den strahlenden Gitarrenriffs Licht ins Dunkel zu bringen ohne die melancholische Grundstimmung in Abrede zu stellen. Sehr intensiv!

Fazit

BLAZING ETERNITY haben mit „A Certain End Of Everything“ ein Monument der melancholischen Schönheit auferstehen lassen. Wer die ersten Töne dieser musikalischen Reise wahrgenommen hat, wird sich der Faszination in ihrer epischen Manifestation nicht entziehen können und die Reise vollumfänglich genießen. Ich habe mir das Album mittlerweile unzählige Male angehört, weil es mich so einfängt. Und deshalb kann ich gar nicht anders als volle 10 Punkte zu vergeben, weil es nichts von seiner Faszination verloren hat.

BLAZING ETERNITY (Facebook) from Denmark will cause a storm of enthusiasm with their album „A Certain End Of Everything“. I’m very sure of that. Anyone who likes the old cult band „Paradise Lost“ or the more modern „Marianas Rest“ will feel more than at home here. It was clear to me after the first listen that this album would be one of my highlights of the year. It has captured my heart.

A world beyond

This album will take you on a dreamlike journey. From the first moments of the opener „One Thousand Lights“ to the last notes of the final „The Bells“, the music will capture you and never let go. You will let yourself go and simply surrender to the wonderful sounds for 46 minutes.

„One Thousand Lights“ paints an enchanting picture with impressive melodies that more than does justice to the term epic. It is simply wonderful. The song is not even particularly complicated. Everything is designed to be very engaging. The harsh vocals of singer Peter Mesnickow create a captivating contrast to the highly melodic soundscape, which is atmospherically spiced up by synths in addition to the melodic riffing. They enrich the sound in an atmospheric way. In the song „One Thousand Lights“, they play to their strengths from the fourth minute onwards and lend the sound a mesmerizing depth.

Oceans of melancholy

Despite the harsh vocals, BLAZING ETERNITY create deep seas of soulful harmonies. In fact, the vocals embody more emotion than one might think. Through the extreme vocals, the emotional levels are expressed in a special way that is very impressive and touching. The band manages to create a soundscape of heartbreaking sadness with the songs, but at the same time ennoble it with a beautiful epicness that lets the light shine in the darkness and gives hope wings.

Tragic circumstances during the creation of the album played a role and shaped this emotional music. After the band had reunited after a long break, two sad events overshadowed this time. I quote the press release here:

The band began working on new material in secret in 2018. But with major challenges in the process. Firstly, the death of singer Peter Mesnickow’s wife of many years, Lilja, and secondly, the death of Blazing Eternity Live keyboardist Jens Hansen. Fascinating journey

If you close your eyes and listen to the compositions, the impressions intensify even more in my opinion. You can’t and don’t want to escape the musical flow and enjoy the whole journey from beginning to end. The basic musical mood runs through the entire album. There are no sudden surprises. Normally that would be a reason for me to get bored at some point, but that doesn’t really happen to me here. I really can’t explain it exactly, but the compositions have that certain something, a magic that enchants me and that I can’t get enough of. It’s really hard to explain. Some people may perceive it differently, but I am blown away by this music.

This also applies to the title track „A Certain End Of Everything“. Intense emotions seek their way through endless sadness and the vocals convey this dark abyss, especially in the first half. But in the second half of the song, the mood changes a little and a slightly hopeful component is mixed in by combining peaceful clean and harsh vocals. At the same time, the sound is able to bring light into the darkness with the atmospheric synths and the radiant guitar riffs without denying the basic melancholy mood. Very emotional!

Conclusion

With „A Certain End Of Everything“, BLAZING ETERNITY have created a monument of melancholic beauty. Anyone who has heard the first notes of this musical journey will not be able to escape the fascination of its epic manifestation and will enjoy the journey to the full. I have listened to the album countless times because it captures me so much. And that’s why I can’t help but give it a full 10 points, because it has never lost any of its fascination.

haben ihre Heimat in Deutschland und sind kaum in ein bestimmtes Genre zu stecken. SACRIFIRE (Facebook) schenken euch auf ihrem Album „The Art Of Decay“ eine außergewöhnliche dunkle Metal-Mischung aus Gothik und Doom.

Vor zwei Monaten haben sie mich mit der Single „Juggernaut“ auf ganzer Linie überzeugt. So eine Mischung habe ich noch nie gehört und ich muss zugeben, dass ich sehr fasziniert und gefesselt davon war und immer noch bin. Es zeigt mir, dass es Bands immer noch schaffen interessante Sounds zu generieren. „Juggernaut“ hat ganz viele klassische Gothik Vibes. Vor allem dann, wenn Sänger Dirk Weiß seine warme dunkle Stimme hervorholt. Atmosphäre ohne Ende! Aber auch in seiner extremeren Sangeskunst kann Dirk völlig überzeugen. Instrumental agiert man mit dunkelzarten Melodien, aber auch mit massiven Riffwellen und bietet damit die perfekte Bühne für den überaus charismatischen Sänger Dirk.

Interessant und spannend

Es war also spannend, was die Band mit diesem interessanten musikalischen Ansatz auf dem Album offenbaren würde. Und ich kann euch sagen, dass SACRIFIRE euch mit einer faszinierenden Ausstrahlung in einen schwarzen Kosmos saugen werden. Dirks Stimme ist dabei der Reiseführer. Dirk hat eine fesselnde Art. Mit seinem warmen dunklen Timbre fängt er euch ein, nimmt euch an die Hand und begleitet euch auf der Reise durch die klangvollen Landschaften. Aber Dirk kann auch anders und mit kraftvollen Vocals beeindruckende Bergmassive von Emotionen erzeugen.

Doch was nützt der beste Sänger, wenn man ihm nicht die passende musikalische Bühne bietet. Glücklicherweise lässt man Sänger Dirk nicht im Regen stehen, sondern begleitet ihn mit hochwertiger instrumentaler Kunst, die sehr reichhaltig ausfällt. Ganze drei Gitarristen spielen hier auf.

Ein Album für Entdecker

Ganze 14 Songs nehmen euch mit auf eine lange Reise (wobei auf CD und LP lediglich die ersten 10 Songs enthalten sind) . Der Einstieg in das Album mit dem Opener „Into Infinity“ schafft es den Hörer zunächst sanft einzuführen. Der Song vollzieht auf seinem Weg eine unglaubliche Entwicklung. Alterniert er zunächst zwischen den ruhigen tragenden und energischen Passagen, entwickelt er sich zu einem wahnsinnig epischen Kraftakt. Alles findet harmonisch sich zusammen. Der Bass spielt besonders stark auf und übernimmt eine wichtige Rolle im Sound von SACRIFIRE. Die Drums bieten eine kraftvolle Dynamik und überzeugen mit einem variablen Spiel. Das gleiche gilt für die Gitarrenfraktion. Die Saitenhexer sorgen hier für die melodische Vielfalt und immer wieder für die richtige atmosphärische Untermalung.

Viele Abenteuer in dunklen Gefilden

„Emptiness“ nimmt mehr Fahrt auf und hier darf man sich über ein echt starkes Gittarenriffing mit einem famosen Solo freuen. Hier kommen so einige lockere rockige Vibes zum Vorschein, die sich auch beim Song „Arms Of Morpheus“ für einen fetzigen Beginn verantwortlich sind.

„My Sanctuary“ ist auch ganz was feines. Anfänglich fängt euch der Song mit hypnotischer Magie ein. Man beachte das feine Basspiel. Dazu gesellen sich dann tolle Riffmelodien. Und plötzlich erklingt ein bluesig angehauchtes Gitarrensolo, dass zunächst allein verzaubert und dann von Dirk gesanglich begleitet wird. Dieser Song hat es mir echt angetan. Diese musikalische Vereinigung von ergreifender Ruhe und emporsteigender Kraft ist atemberaubend. Wahnsinn, wie sich so ein Song entwickeln kann. Ganz stark!

„If They Could Speak“ geht wieder in eine andere Richtung und holt die brachiale Metal-Keule raus. Wow! Das ist mal ein fetter Sound. Mit fordernder kraftvoller Rhythmik und fetten Riffs gibt es die volle Ladung berauschender Energie. Und die Drums befeuern diesen Angriff mit wuchtigen Salven. Dieser Song bleibt seiner Linie treu. Ein irres Solo wird ebenfalls gezündet.

Das Ende des Albums auf den physischen Albumexemplaren beschert uns der Song „Pain Of Exception“. Eine besondere Magie enthüllt sich auch immer dann, wenn Sänger Dirk das Geschehen mit seiner Stimme abseits der donnernden Riffs dominiert und eine reduzierte Instrumentierung ihn begleitet. So vergehen die ersten 03:30 Minuten, bis sich die Gitarrenriffs einmischen und der Song sich in einem melancholischen Wasserfall ergießt. Schwerer wiegt dagegen der Schlusstrack „Until We Die“ des digitalen Albums, der mit massiven Doom-Riffs aufschlägt.

Fazit

„The Art Of Decay“ von SACRIFIRE ist wie der Weg eines dunklen Flusses. Ruhig und bedächtig fließt er dahin, gerät häufig in bewegende Stromschnellen und donnert dann wie ein mächtiger Wasserfall aus einem gewaltigen Bergmassiv hinaus. SACRIFIRE verstehen sich darin dunkle Fäden zu einem zarten Gewand zu verweben, aber sie beherrschen ebenfalls die Schmiedekunst des harten Metalls. Dabei offenbaren sie ein sehr gutes Gespür, um diese Künste zu einem intensiven atmosphärischen Erlebnis der Melancholie zu vereinen.

„The Art Of Decay“ ist ein Album, das entdeckt werden will! Es hat viele Schätze zu bieten, die sich einem erst nach und nach eröffnen. Es ist ein Album, dass mit jedem Durchgang mehr von seiner Faszination preisgibt. Ich finde es mutig und bewundernswert, ganz bewußt ein Album weitab vom Standard zu erschaffen und eine neue musikalische Erfahrung zu generieren. Das mag keine Musik für die Massen sein, aber das macht es umso wertvoller.

SACRIFIRE (Facebook) are hardly to be put into a certain genre. On their album „The Art Of Decay“ they give you an extraordinary mixture of gothic and doom.

Two months ago they convinced me with the single „Juggernaut“ all along the line. I’ve never heard such a mixture before and I have to admit that I was and still am very fascinated and captivated by it. It shows me that bands still manage to generate interesting sounds. „Juggernaut“ has quite a lot of classic gothic vibes. Especially when singer Dirk Weiss brings out his warm dark voice. A wonderful dark atmosphere is created ! But also in his more extreme singing Dirk is completely convincing. Instrumentally they act with dark tender melodies, but also with massive riffs and thus offer the perfect stage for the extremely charismatic singer Dirk.

Interesting and exciting

So it was exciting to see what the band would reveal on the album with this interesting musical approach. And I can tell you that SACRIFIRE will guide you into a black cosmos with a fascinating atmosphere. Dirk’s voice is the guide on this journey. Dirk has a captivating charisma. With his warm dark timbre he catches you, takes you by the hand and accompanies you on the journey through the sonorous landscapes. But Dirk can also do it differently and create impressive mountains of emotions with powerful vocals.

But what good is the best singer if you don’t offer him the appropriate musical stage. Fortunately, singer Dirk is not left out in the rain, but accompanies him with high-quality instrumental art. Whole three guitarists play here a great show.

An album for explorers

Whole 14 songs take you on a long journey (on CD and LP only the first 10 songs are included). The entry into the album with the opener „Into Infinity“ manages to introduce the listener gently at first. The song performs on its way an incredible development. Alternating at first between the quiet thoughtful and energetic passages, it develops into an insanely epic final. Everything comes together harmonically. The bass plays up especially strong and takes on an important role in the sound of SACRIFIRE. Those drums offer a powerful dynamic and convince with a variable play. The same applies to the guitar fraction. The three string wizards provide here for the melodic variety and again and again for the right atmospheric background.

Many adventures in dark realms

„Emptiness“ picks up more speed and here you can look forward to a really strong guitar riffing with a great solo. Here some loose rocky vibes appear, which are also responsible for a groovy start in the song „Arms Of Morpheus“.

„My Sanctuary“ is also a gem. Initially, the song catches you with hypnotic magic. Note the fine bass playing. This is then joined by great riff melodies. And suddenly you hear a bluesy guitar solo that first enchants alone and then is accompanied by Dirk vocally. This song really impress me a lot.This musical union of poignant calm and soaring power is breathtaking. It’s amazing how a song like this can develop. Amazing!

„If They Could Speak“ brings out brute metal. Wow! What a heavy sound! With demanding powerful rhythms and fat riffs there is the full charge of intoxicating energy. And the drums fire this attack with massive salvos. This song stays true to its line. A crazy solo is also ignited.

The end of the album on the physical album copies gives us the song „Pain Of Exception“. A special magic also reveals itself whenever singer Dirk dominates the action with his voice away from the thundering riffs and a reduced instrumentation accompanies him. Thus, the first 03:30 minutes pass until the guitar riffs interfere and the song pours in a melancholic waterfall. On the other hand, the closing track „Until We Die“ of the digital album weighs heavier, hitting with massive doom riffs.

Conclusion

„The Art Of Decay“ by SACRIFIRE is like the path of a dark river. Calmly and deliberately it flows along, gets into moving rapids in between and then thunders like a mighty waterfall out of a huge mountain massif. SACRIFIRE know how to weave dark threads into a delicate garment, but they also master the forging of hard metal. They reveal a very good sense to unite these arts into an intense atmospheric experience of melancholy.

„The Art Of Decay“ is an album that wants to be discovered! It has many treasures to offer, which open up only gradually. It is an album that reveals more of its fascination with each pass. I think it’s brave and admirable to create an album far from the standard and generate a new musical experience. This may not be music for the masses, but that makes it all the more valuable.

SHORES OF NULL (Facebook) veröffentlichen ihr viertes Album „The Loss Of Beauty“ am 24. März. Was zeichnet den Sound aus? Nun, grundsätzlich ist es die melancholische Ausrichtung, die sowohl mit extremen als auch mit cleanen Vocals bedient wird. Das ist zwar nix neues, aber die hier gezeigte Kombination ist sehr überzeugend. Und das ist doch die Hauptsache! SHORES OF NULL erzeugen dabei eine nicht zu erdrückende Stimmung. Der Sound wirkt lebendig und strotzt vor schönen Melodien, die sogar in epische Gefilde reichen.

Dies wird von der Single „The Last Flower“ sehr eindrucksvoll unterstrichen. Die extremen Growls werden hier spärlicher eingesetzt. Der Song besticht durch wunderbare Melodien, welche durch Gitarre und vor allem durch die Gesangslinien erzeugt werden. Hier fliegen cleane Vocals auf imposanten Schwingen über die raue instrumentale Welt und erklimmen dabei epische Gipfel. Dies kommt sehr beeindruckend rüber, auch in einem Blastbeat befeuerten Teil des Songs.

Der Gesang

wirkt beim folgenden Song „Darkness Won’t Take Me“ genauso ergreifend. Sänger Davide Straccione vermag es den Hörer auf unterschiedlich Art emotional einzufangen und die Seele zu erreichen. „Darkness Won’t Take Me“ wirkt ein wenig zäher und die Stimmung erinnert mich sogar zwischenzeitlich an die Doom-Götter PARADISE LOST.

Derartige Höhepunkte schenkt auch der Song „Nothing Left To Burn“, der mit grundsätzlich sehr krafvoll und massiv gestaltet ist. Die Growls sind markant düster und entfalten ihre Wirkung noch mehr im Kontrast zu dem hochintensiven cleanen Vocals, die direkt einer brennenden Seele zu entstammen scheinen. Was für ein aufwühlender herzzereißender Song! Das geht einfach durch und durch. Gänsehaut! Einer meiner Lieblingssongs auf dem Album.

Düstere Pfade

Das sehr melancholische rein instrumentale Zwischenspiel „The First Son“ passt perfekt in die Mitte des Albums. Hier verzaubern schwere und dunkle Streicher- und Pianoklänge das Gemüt. Dieses Stück hat mich so sehr beeindruckt, dass ich mich später gefragt habe, warum man solche symphonischen Elemente nicht hier und da hat mehr in die Songs einfließen lassen. Es ist ein emotionales Album und diese klassischen Instrumente sind ein tolles Stilmittel, um diese Emotionlität zu unterstreichen ohne das man gleich zu einer Symphonic Metal Band wird, wenn man es dosiert einsetzt.

Daran schließt sich mit „A Nature In Disguise“ der längste Song des Albums an, der wieder alle Stärken der Band in sich vereint. Die einminütige Einleitung in den Song mit den monotonen Gitarrenriffs finde ich allerdings etwas zu lang geraten. Anschließend fängt Sänger Davide Straccione Euch aber sofort mit seinem cleanen emotionalen Gesang ein. Die eingangs erwähnte Lebendigkeit findet sich auch hier wieder und man spielt mit verschiedenen Stimmungen.

„Old Scars“ und „Destination Woe“ fallen in die Kategorie der etwas flotteren Songs. Es sind immer wieder diese Gitarreleads, die im Sound aufblitzen und für Energie sorgen. Auch die Rhythmusfraktion wird von Richtungs- und Tempiwechseln nicht verschont, was zusätzlich für Diversität sorgt.

Fazit

SHORES OF NULL eröffnen mit „Loss Of Beauty“ eine beeindruckende Doom-Metal Reise. SHORES OF NULL wandeln in melancholisch dunklen Welten auf düsteren Pfaden, die aber immer wieder durch wundervolle epische Landschaften führen. Sänger Davide Straccione intensiviert das Ganze mit seiner grandiosen Stimme, die sowohl in der cleanen als auch in der extremen Ausrichtung sehr eindrucksvoll klingt.

Gothik Doom Metal

SHORES OF NULL (Facebook) release their fourth album „The Loss Of Beauty“ on March 24. What distinguishes the sound? Well, basically it is the melancholic orientation, which is served with both extreme and clean vocals. This is nothing new, but the combination shown here is very convincing. And that is the most important thing! SHORES OF NULL create a not too oppressive atmosphere. The sound seems lively and bristles with beautiful melodic elements, which even reach into epic realms.

This is underlined very impressively by the single „The Last Flower“. The extreme growls are used more sparsely here. The song captivates with wonderful melodies, which are created by guitar and especially by the vocal lines. Here, clean vocals fly on imposing wings over the harsh instrumental world, climbing epic peaks. This comes across very impressively, even in a blastbeat-fueled part of the song.

The singing

Singer Davide Straccione is able to emotionally capture the listener in a different way and reach the soul. This also shows „Darkness Won’t Take Me“ that seems a bit tougher and darker. It even reminds me in between of the doom gods PARADISE LOST.

Such highlights also gives the song „Nothing Left To Burn“, which is designed with basically very powerful and massive. The growls are strikingly gloomy and unfold their effect even more in contrast to the high-intensity clean vocals, which seem to come directly from a burning soul. What a stirring heartbreaking song! It just goes right through and through. Goosebumps! One of my favorite songs on the album.

Gloomy paths

The very melancholic purely instrumental interlude „The First Son“ fits perfectly in the middle of the album. Here heavy and dark string and piano sounds enchant the mind. This piece impressed me so much that I wondered why they didn’t incorporate such symphonic elements more into the songs here and there. It’s an emotional album and these classical instruments are a great stylistic device to underline this emotionality without immediately becoming a symphonic metal band, if you use it dosed.

This is followed by „A Nature In Disguise“, the longest song on the album, which again combines all the strengths of the band. The one-minute introduction to the song with the monotonous guitar riffs, however, I find a bit too long. Afterwards singer Davide Straccione catches you immediately with his clean emotional vocals. The aforementioned liveliness is also found here again and they play with different moods.
