Es ist endlich soweit: Marilyn Manson veröffentlicht „Heaven Upside Down“ mit acht Monaten Verspätung. Als Begründung gab Marilyn das folgende Statement ab:

If the record came out when I intended it to, when I thought it was finished back in February, it would not have ‚Revelation #12‘, ‚Heaven Upside Down‘ or ‚Saturnalia‘. Those are three of the most key songs that really tell the story,“ Manson explained. „Those lyrics were all written, but I had not found a home for them. Those three songs take place in the three places where if it were a film, it’s the opening, it’s the middle and it’s the ending. Then there’s the song after ‚Heaven Upside Down‘, it’s sort of the end title credits where it’s really surmising the story of the record, which is to be interpreted by the listener. I wanted to draw people in sonically and lyrically. I’m glad. This record was meant to come out now, for whatever reason. Things had to happen in my life, everything had to happen for a reason for it to come out now.

Wer die genannten Lieder „Revelation #12“, „Heaven Upside Down“ oder „Saturnalia“ kennt, wird sich im Nachhinein freuen, dass die Platte später als gedacht erschienen ist. Wie schon beim Vorgänger arbeitete der Schock-Rocker mit Tyler Bates zusammen, der sich für die Musik verantwortlich zeigte.

Die Platte im Soundcheck

„Revelation #12“ beginnt und baut sich langsam auf bevor Mr. Mansons Stimme erklingt und die Gitarren kreissägenartig aus den Boxen dröhnen. Ein klassischer Opener der direkt knallt! „Tattooed In Reverse“ nimmt das Tempo raus, ehe es kompromisslos in die Videosingle „We Know Where You Fucking Live“ übergeht.

Im Anschluss erklingt „SAY10“, welches die Fans schon im November 2016 als Teaser sehen/hören könnten. Der ruhige progressive Track geht ins Ohr und will auch so schnell nicht mehr raus. You Say God and I say Satan hallt es im Refrain. Sehr schön. Schon jetzt kann man sagen, so hat man den Antichristen schon sehr lange nicht mehr gehört. Auch wenn es im Vorfeld der Platte hieß, diese wurde nicht an „The Pale Emperor“ anknüpfen, hört man doch in „Kill4me“ die Ähnlichkeiten zu „Third Day of a Seven-Day Binge“. Fast schon tanzbar für jede Disco, sollte sich jeder DJ den Song „Saturnalia“ merken mit seinem catchy Refrain: Just Simle Like A Rifle / I was Invited to eat the Young. Ähm ja…

Ab der zweiten Hälfte der Platte wird es ruhiger und progressiver. „Je$u$ Cri$i$§“ lebt von vielen Wortspielen während der Titeltrack „Heaven Upside Down“ süß und leicht aus den Boxen erklingt. Die Platte besitzt im Punkt Produktion mehr von seinem Vorgänger als von „Antichrist Superstar“ oder „Mechanical Animals“. Dafür viele Rockanteile wie zu „Holy Wood“-Zeiten. Müsste man das neue Album an den 3 Klassikern in der Diskografie messen, würde es nach meiner Meinung nach „Born Villain“ und vor „Golden Age of“ sowie „The Pale Emperor“ auf Platz 2 landen.

Marilyn Manson veröffentlicht neues Album am 6. Oktober

Marilyn Manson kündigt seine neue Platte, die nun im Oktober erscheinen wird, an. In gut 2 Wochen können Fans den Nachfolger zu „The Pale Emperor“ im Laden kaufen. Am Freitag, den 6. Oktober 2017 wird „Heaven Upside Down“ in den Regalen stehen. Wir sind gespannt, wie die Lieder live ankommen werden. Die Tourdaten für die Shows im November gibt es weiter unten in der Übersicht. Zur Freude vieler gibt es ab sofort die neue Single „We Know Where You Fucking Live“ im Stream. Sagt uns, wie ihr den Output findet.

Ewiges hin und her…

Manson kündigte im Sommer 2016 die Veröffentlichung von „Say10“ für den 14. Februar 2017 an. Doch als das Release immer näher rückte, tat sich recht wenig im Umfeld von Marilyn. Dazu sagte er im Interview mit Loudwire:

MARILYN MANSON – Europatour & Album

Neues aus der Welt von Marilyn Manson, welcher eine Europatour im Winter ankündigt. Der Schock-Rocker benennt sein geplantes Album, welches demnächst wohl erscheinen wird von „Say 10“ in „Heaven Upside Down“ um. Der Vorverkauf für die Tickets startet bereits am 19. Mai um 10 Uhr! Sichert euch schnell Tickets, bevor die Shows ausverkauft sein werden.

Manson sagte im Gespräch mit Fabulous TV:

I just finished my new album and I’m going on tour in July. The record is called Heaven Upside Down.

Er meinte über den Sound zum Album:

It’s not very much in any way like The pale Emperor. The people who have heard the new songs said it reminded them of Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals – but with a new, different approach. It’s pretty violent in its nature for some reason. It’s not emotional in the same way. It’s got a chip on its shoulder. I can’t wait for people to hear it – I think they’re going to be quite surprised.

Erster Teaser schon seit Monaten online

Manson veröffentlichte im November 2017 den ersten Trailer zur ersten Videosingle „Say10“. Wir haben diesen für euch natürlich unten bereitgestellt. Das Gute: der Altmeister orientiert sich an älteren Werken und Stilmitteln. Sein Lieblingsbuch, die Bibel, wird „zerrissen“ und sein Lieblingspolitiker(Trump), ermordet.

Zum Video sagte der Meister gegenüber The Daily Beast:

Either way [Election Day] goes, the visuals are meant to create contemplation. Because it’s obviously bigger than just [today]. It’s about the desperate acts of people who believe something that is preached by an unbeliever. Right now we’re in such a state of confusion when it comes to religion, politics, sexuality, and how they all tie together, and it’s being turned into a circus and a sideshow — and that’s something that I’ve been described as a ringleader of. It seems like a time for me as an artist, and as an American artist, to make something that causes a new set of questions to arise that aren’t simply statements.
