James Leg (alias John Wesley Myers von den Black Diamond Heavies und The Immortal Lee County Killers) veröffentlicht mit “Blood On The Keys” sein drittes Solo-Album. Bereits während seiner Zeit mit den Black Diamond Heavies legte er mit seinem leidenschaftlich-dreckigen Keyboardspiel, den inbrünstigen Live-Auftritten und seinem schroffen, mit Whiskey, Butan und Nikotin geschwängerten Vocals den Grundstein für seine Solo-Arbeiten.

James Leg, Sohn eines Priesters aus Texas, begann bereits im Alter von sechs Jahren mit dem Piano-Spielen. Er wuchs mit Gospel-Musik aus den Südstaaten auf und hielt mit 14 seine ersten Predigten in der Kirche seines Vaters. Zwei Jahre später konnte er den Verlockungen des Rock `n Rolls, dem Alkohol und den Drogen nicht mehr widerstehen.

Zwischen Himmel und Hölle

Genau dieser Kontrast zwischen Gut & Böse, Himmel & Hölle beeinflusst nicht nur seine Musik sondern vor allem seine leidenschaftlichen Live-Auftritte die an einen manischen Schlangenbeschwörer erinnern (dessen Schlange Leg jedoch durch ein Fender Rhodes ersetzt). „Blood On The Keys“ ist ein Album voll dreckigem, voranpeitschendem Soul-Jazz-Blues-Rock `n Roll der auch Fans von Howlin‘ Wolf und Iggy Pop gefallen dürfte.
