STyle Cyco Punk

Der STyle Cyco Punk kümmerte sich weder darum, was aktuell musikalisch angesagt war, noch darum, ob sich jemand durch die Songs angegriffen fühlte. Als SUICIDAL TENDENCIES sich auf den Weg in die Punk Scene machten, war diese nicht gerade experimentierfreudig. Das schien SUICIDAL TENDENCIES nicht weiter zu beeindrucken – sie machten einfach ihr Ding und ihren Punk zunehmend metallischer. Ihnen ging es um den Punk und um die Themen und nicht um Anerkennung in der Szene.

Aber gerade dies machte sie so attraktiv, dass die Army of Cycos immer größer wurde und die Musik von SUICIDAL TENDENCIES Punk und Thrash Metal nachhaltig beeinflusste.

Die Fans von SUICIDAL TENDENCIES nennen sich „Cycos“, womit ich auf das neue Album zu sprechen komme, da die Band am 7. September 2018 passend via Suicidal Records ihr neues Album Still Cyco Punk After All These Years vorstellt.

Seit 2016 bearbeitet Ex-Slayer-Drummer Dave Lombardo die Felle bei SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. Somit gibt es noch eine Extra-Portion auf die Ohren.

Vorab schon mal in der bereits veröffentlichten Single F.U.B.A.R., die ich euch nicht vorenthalten möchte.

STay Cyco, STay STrong

Mike Muir sagt zum neuen Album:

Over 20 Years ago I recorded my first “solo” cd for release (technically the second, the first being the “Solocide” sessions which probably will never be released as it was intended).The Cyco Miko “Lost my Brain…Once Again!” was released in 1995 and even featured guitarist Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols on 7 songs. Although the 13 years I was in Suicidal at the time, I did things I never dreamed I’d have the chance to, or could happen, there were still way too many times that were extremely  difficult to handle. Basically, “Love Music, don’t Like the other stuff”, lol. Anyhow remembering that original love for music made me want to do a Punk STyle record and at the time I didn’t feel it was, could or should be an ST album.

Now with Dave Lombardo on drums leading the way, I felt it not only could it, but it  should be an ST album. Not retro, but taking it 25 years forward and make it a modern Cyco Punk record. Extremely dangerous after so many years, but damn, I love these songs and I feel them so much. Perhaps surprisingly more now then when I was 30. The music hits me hard and the lyrics hit me harder. Life takes you places sometimes you don’t want to be. I know that more then I would like to admit…but it led me here, right now and I’m so proud to be here!  And the irony is a “non Suicidal” album, has just made me more Suicidal then ever.

Am 30. September veröffentlichen die Punk/Thrash Legenden SUICIDAL TENDENCIES ihr neues Album „World Gone Mad“. Mit dem neuen Album folgen neue Mitglieder, die sowohl im Studio involviert waren als auch live mit an Bord sein werden. Am Schlagzeug nimmt kein geringerer als Dave Lombardo Platz. Am Bass kommt Ra Diaz zum Einsatz und an der Gitarre Jeff Pogan. Produziert wurde das Album von Mike Muir himself. Unterstützung hatte er von Paul Northfield (Rush, Dream Theater, Queensrÿche, Ozzy Osbourne, Hole, Marilyn Manson), der auch für das Engineering und den Mix verantwortlich ist.

Mike Muir zu den Aufnahmen mit Dave Lombardo: „It’s interesting, because a lot of people, obviously, associate Dave with the Slayer sound. When you hear how he literally attacks the various STyles on this album, you’re instantly blown away at not only how insane of a drummer he is, but also how tremendously diverse a drummer he is. Dave is a true legend, but I believe even a lot of his most hard core fans will be blown away at what he’s brought to this record.“

Dave Lombardo zum neuen Album: “I think it’s very typical and very traditional Suicidal Tendencies. It’s that unforgettable style. It’s Mike Muir. He is a legend and has a very special style in which he writes his music, his lyrics and his structures. And I love it; I love it. It takes me back to how it all started, which was that punk attitude. I’m very happy to be a part of his organization. I feel very welcomed. I feel very much appreciated, and there’s a lot camaraderie and respect amongst the musicians. We have a really good time together. We hang out as a band, which is very important. I’m honored to be a part of Mikes legacy and can’t wait for this album to drop.“
