Heute möchte ich Euch die neue EP „Brass For Gold“ von der Band THE RUMJACKS (Facebook) vorstellen. Erst im März 2021 veröffentlichten The Rumjacks ihr fünftes Studioalbum „Hestia“, das quasi eine frische Ära der Band mit dem neuen Sänger Mike Rivkees einläutete. Das Album war ein voller Erfolg. Davon beflügelt machte man sich direkt an die Arbeit und schrieb neue Songs. COVID 19 bedingt hatten sie dazu dann auch so viel Zeit, dass nun die EP „Brass For Gold“ schon die Nachfolge (VÖ 11.02.2022) angetreten hat.

Als ich diese Promo zugesandt bekam, stieg mein Gute-Laune-Pegel auf der Stelle an. Ich lauschte der Musik, die ich seit ewigen Zeiten nicht mehr gehört hatte. Letztmalig hatte ich die Mucke in meiner Jugendzeit in einem Irish Pub gehört, wo wir dann ordentlich abgefeiert haben. Denn dafür ist diese Musik gemacht! Zum Feiern und „Tanzen“!

Hier wird nicht lange gefackelt,

sondern direkt mit dem Opener „Bounding Man“ das Stimmungsfeuer gezündet. Da wackeln die Planken und die Fässer werden geleert. THE RUMJACKS gehen mit einer frischen Energie zu Werke und man merkt ihnen einfach an, dass sie richtig Bock haben. Sie wollen die Leute mitreißen und das gelingt ihnen zweifellos. Trotz des relativ engen Spielraums bei der Art von Musik gelingt es ihnen verschiedene Facetten zu präsentieren. Der Opener bringt direkt Stimmung mit dem Schifferklavier und auch das Banjo fügt sich cool im Sound ein.

Locker vom Hocker

erklingt ein Song nach dem anderen und man bekommt, was man erwartet. Rundum gelungene eingängige Tracks randvoll mit Spaß und Freude. So rocken die ersten vier Songs locker flockig durch und sind vom Stil her ähnlich gehalten. Es werden aber Songs eingetreut, die andere Facetten einbinden. So hätten klingt das flotte „Across The Water“ rockiger und man lässt das Schifferklavier außen vor.

„Blinding Flashes“ ist ebenfalls ne rockige Nummer und lässt mit der Akustikgitarre, die die treibenden Riffs begleitet, schon ein wenig Western Feeling aufkommen. Der Effekt verstärkt sich schließlich noch beim Flötensolo. Cool gemacht! Genauso wie „On A Sombre Saturday“, der ebenfalls mit mit der Western Thematik spielt. Ist echt ein witziger und cooler Feger und zeigt effektiv die Kreativität der Band. Dazu gibt es das brandneue Video!

Fazit

THE RUMJACKS haben in mir mit ihrem frischen energiegeladenen Sound alte Erinnerungen wach werden lassen und ein dickes Grinsen auf das Gesicht gezaubert. Die EP „Brass For Gold“ steht „Hestia“ in nichts nach und bietet durch die Bank geile Songs, bei denen Langeweile ein Fremdwort ist. Also holt Euch ne Flasche Rum, ladet ein paar Freunde ein und feiert zu den Songs von THE RUMJACKS. Denn gute Laune und fette Party sind garantiert!

Today I would like to introduce you to the new album „Brass For Gold“ by the band THE RUMJACKS (Facebook). Last year in March they released their fifth studio album „Hestia“, which virtually ushered in a fresh era of the band with the new singer Mike Rivkees. The album was a great success. Inspired by this, they went straight to work and wrote new songs. COVID 19 conditionally they had so much time for this, that now the EP „Brass For Gold“ has already taken the successor (VÖ 11.02.2022).

When I received this promo, I got a big smile instantly. I listened to the music, which I had not heard for ages. The last time I heard this music was in my youth in an Irish pub, where we had great parties. Because that’s what this music is made for! To party!

There is no faffing about here,

but directly ignited the party fire with the opener „Bounding Man“. The planks are shaking and the barrels of rum are open. THE RUMJACKS go to work with a fresh energy and they are really into it. They want to carry the people away and they succeed without a doubt. Despite the relatively narrow scope in the type of music they manage to present different facets. The opener brings directly mood with the accordion and also the banjo fits cool in the sound.

Catchy and happy

sounds one song after the other and you get what you expect. All around successful catchy tracks filled to the brim with fun and joy. So the first four songs rock through fluffy and are kept similar in style. But there are songs that sound different. So the snappy „Across The Water“ has more rock in the veins. You find no accodion here. „Blinding Flashes“ is also a rocky track and with the acoustic guitar that accompanies the driving riffs. A little Western feeling comes up. The effect is finally reinforced by the flute solo. Cool done! Just like „On A Sombre Saturday“, which also plays with Western elements. Is really a funny and cool song and shows effectively the creativity of the band. In addition, there is the brand new video!

Conclusion

THE RUMJACKS have awakened old memories in me with their fresh energetic sound and conjured up a big grin on my face. The EP „Brass For Gold“ is in no way inferior to „Hestia“ and offers great songs throughout, where boredom is a foreign word. So get a bottle of rum, invite some friends and party to the songs of THE RUMJACKS. A hell of party is guaranteed!
