Morgen, am 20. März 2020 kommt das neue und dritte Album von The Wild! bei eOne / SPV heraus und ich will gar nicht viele Worte machen. Denn gerade in den heutigen Tagen ist der Titel des Albums wichtiger denn je: „Still Believe In Rock And Roll“
Und leider ist auch der Titel der ersten Videoauskopplung „Playing With Fire“ wahrer als mir lieb ist. Wenn ich sehe wie viele Deppen noch Corona-Parties feiern könnte ich kotzen. Da widme ich mich doch lieber schönerem und zeige ich euch erstmal das Video und dann stelle ich euch das ganze Album vor und verrate euch warum wir es gerade jetzt so dringend brauchen.

The Wild! – alles andere als Bad News

Zwar häufen sich auf allen Medien die schlechten Nachrichten… Wirklich auf allen Medien? Nein, eine kanadische Band leistet tapfer Widerstand und ihre „Bad News“ sind ein toller Rocksong mit einer punkigen Attitüde. Gefällt mir und hoffe ich doch noch dieses Jahr live erleben zu können. „Crazy For You“ ist nicht romantisch wie der Titel vielleicht vermuten lässt, aber mir gefällt der bassige Unterton und die Art wie Dylan hier singt. Bei „Nothing Good Comes Easy“ kommen dann die vielen Touren mit Rose Tattoo durch. Schöner Australian Style Rocker. Für die PS-Freaks kommt mit „High Speed“ dann die richtige Hymne, die auch live sicher für High Speed vor der Bühne sorgen wird. „King Of This Town“ bietet einen Mitsing-Refrain und passt zum Autofahren, zuhause, bei einer Party oder einfach überall. Toller Song!

The Wild! – Still Believe In Rock And Roll

Jetzt folgt der Titelsong und wie eingangs schon gesagt: Heute wichtiger denn je! Und der Song ist dazu die perfekte musikalische Begleitung. Tut es Dylan und den Jungs gleich, reckt die Faust in die Höhe und schreit es voller Inbrunst heraus (aber bitte mit der nötigen social distance). „Playing With Fire“ ist vielleicht einer der Songs, der den Spirit von The Wild am besten beschreibt und einfängt. Auch wenn es durchaus mit Country-Einflüssen spielt, but I fucking like it. „Young Rebels“ ist ein Song den ich persönlich sehr mag. Bin ich doch ebenso wie Dylan Vater eines Sohnes und kann seine Intention hier voll und ganz nachvollziehen (mehr dazu gibt hier im Interview mit Dylan). „I made my choice, i’m going to hell….“ Hey Dylan wenn der Weg zur Hölle so musikalisch untermalt ist wie „Going To Hell“ dann schließe ich mich da gerne an! Als zehnten und letzten Song hauen The Wild! mit „Gasoline“ noch eine sechs Minuten lange Nummer raus, ein ruhiges und sehr persönliches Stück. Aber der perfekte Ausklang für diese Platte und ein Moment zum Innehalten und reflektieren.

The Wild! – ein Lichtpunkt am Horizont

Ich höre „Still Believe In Rock And Roll“ nun schon eine ganze Weile rauf und runter und hatte mir viele tolle Schlussworte überlegt. Angesichts der aktuellen Lage weltweit möchte ich euch nur eines sagen: „Still Believe In Rock And Roll“ ist eine tolle Platte und solange es Bands wie The Wild! gibt, wird der Rock And Roll nicht sterben. Und damit es so bleibt, unterstützt die Band und kauft die Platte am besten direkt hier bei The Wild! selbst. Damit wir auch in Zukunft noch tolle Musik bekommen und umwerfende Liveshows genießen können. Danke euch!

In zwei Wochen erscheint das neue Album „Still Believe In Rock And Roll“ von The Wild!. Wir hatten vorab schon mal Gelegenheit ein wenig reinzuhören und schon beim ersten Durchlauf sind uns ein paar kleinere Änderungen aufgefallen. Grund genug also Mastermind Dylan Villain vorab um ein paar Erläuterungen zu bitten. Aber zuerst, weil es so schön ist „Playing With Fire“:

Metal-Heads (MH): Your new album „Still Believe in Rock And Roll“ will be out in a few weeks and after listening to it the first time, I must say it sounded a little bit different than the prior ones. Your vocals changed a little bit and I think there´s an evolvement in your sound. Am I right oder completely on a wrong way?

Dylan (DY): I would agree that there are elements of it that are different than the previous albums but I also think that it’s very much still a Wild! record. I experimented a lot with my voice on this record. A lot of it came from writing in different keys and singing in my mid range. I was able to really scream and get a lot of rasp out of it by doing that and both myself and Mike Fraser (Producer/Engineer) really enjoyed how it sounded. I think it’s important for bands to evolve in certain ways without losing sight of who they are completely and I believe that’s what we’ve done on this record.

(MH): You became a father last year and now there is a song „Young Rebels“. Is about you or sour son Rebel?

(DY): It’s about both of us to be honest. I was playing guitar one day and I was singing to him. The idea for the chorus came from that. When I started writing the lyrics I was thinking about myself growing up and how I have always had a strong desire for personal freedom within me. I’ve never lost that. I want my son to know how to live in the moment and do whatever makes him happy in life as well. Hang onto those good times in your youth, you may never get them back. No matter what life throws at you, keep on living.

The Wild! – Dylan über die Tour und den Unterschied zwischen Europa und Kanada

(MH): Together with the release you will start a new tour in Europe supporting tAKiDA and the first shows are already sold out. Is it like a homecoming for you?

(DY): Yeah we feel very strongly connected to Europe because of all the love and support our band has been given since we first started touring there. When you come from the other side of the world and there are fans there that know the lyrics to your songs and travel hours to see several shows on your tour, it’s easy for it all to feel like home.

(MH): And in general what is the difference between touring North America and Europe?

(DY): Well for starters everything is a lot closer in Europe compared to Canada where we’re from. 6hrs is considered a “short drive” in Canada. The fans here are great though and they gave us our career. For that, we will forever be grateful. One of the main differences between the two areas though is that rock music is still very much a popular genre in Europe whereas in Canada, not as much. Regardless of that, we just keep doing what we know how to do and that’s write good songs for people that like rock’n’roll and killer live shows. That’s what it’s all about. That’s what matters the most to us.

(MH): And for all the fans who will attending the shows. Will there be special limitited tour merch like you did for the Playing With Fire Tour in Canada?

(DY): Yes there will be. Limited edition tour shirts, patches, vinyl and CD’s! We go to the merch table after every show, so come say hi, get your merch signed and get a picture. Prost!

(MH): For all those who are too late to get a ticket for the upcoming tour are there some festivals you will play in Europe this summer or even better plans for a The Wild! Headliner Tour?

The Wild! mit neuem Album und Tour mit tAKiDA

Rock and Roll is dead! Oder nicht? Wer The Wild! schon einmal live erlebt hat, der weiß dass der Rock and Roll quicklebendig ist. Am 20. März 2020 erscheint bei eOne / SPV das neue und dritte Album der kanadischen Band um Frontmann Dylain Villain. Passenderweise trägt es den Titel „Still Believe In Rock And Roll“. Produziert wurde das Album wieder von Mike Fraser, der auch schon für Bon Jovi, AC/DC oder Aerosmith an den Knöpfen saß. Jetzt kommt erstmal das Video zu „Playing With Fire“ und dann gibt es noch ein paar Details und alle Daten zur kommenden Tour mit tAKiDA.

The Wild! kontra Gene Simmons

„Rock ist tot“, sagt Gene Simmons von Kiss. „Dann hat er aber lange nicht in Deutschland gespielt!“, sagt Dylan Villain, Sänger und Gitarrist von The Wild!. Wem darf man jetzt glauben? Wer hat Recht – der alte, zynische Skeptiker oder der junge, optimistische Draufgänger? Am Ende ist es vielleicht wirklich eine Glaubensfrage. Entscheidet selbst wenn ihr das neue Album gehört habt… Und wenn euch das nicht reicht besucht eines der Konzerte. Mehr braucht es garantiert nicht!
