TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION (Facebook/Homepage) haben am 21.04.’23 mit „The Name Lives On“ ein musikalisches Schwergewicht ins Rollen gebracht. Nach dem Debüt „Pride Of Texas“ im Jahr 2008 ist das neue Album „The Name Lives On“ bereits das siebte Album. Dabei geben sich die Südstaatenrocker ziemlich vielseitig. Davon könnte Ihr Euch gerne anhand der Diskografie überzeugen.

Die erste Single „Hell Hounds“ war wieder so ein Song, wo ich nur die ersten Riffs hören musste und ich wusste, dass das geil wird. Der Sound nimmt Dich sofort in seine starken Arme und lässt Dich nicht mehr los. Bretthart und schwer groovt sich der Song voran. Big Dad Ritch am Mikro hat eine krasse Präsenz und lässt keinen Zweifel daran, dass er der richtige Mann für den Job ist. Diese kraftvolle Stimme ist so rau und massiv wie Felsformationen der texanischen Wüste.

Voll Bock auf Rock

Es ist der perfekte Soundtrack für einen lässigen Rocktrip. Die schweren groovigen Tracks schlage Euch den trockenen Wüstenstaub aus den Hosenfalten. Aber die Männer können auch anders. Sie rocken genauso lockere Tracks wie beispielsweise den schmissigen „Built For The Road“ mit starker Hardrockattitüde. Die Riffkolben fetzen und befeuern die Powervoice von Big Dad. Das bringt jede Party sofort in Schwung.

„Hard Habit“ ist ein schöner Stampfer und wärmt mit strahlenden Melodien, die so heiß brennen wie die Mittagssone in Texas. Und dann tritt noch das fetzige „Scream“ mit forschen Schritten und fettem Bass die Schwingtür zum Saloon ein und bringt den Laden richtig in Schwung.

Die Überraschung des Albums

ist für mich aber die Ballade „I Teach Angels How To Fly“. Die gewohnt starke Päsenz des Sound ist unbestritten vorhanden, auch wenn sie sanftere Töne anschlägt. Mich hat diese Ballade jedenfalls voll abgeholt und ich konnte mich ihrem düsteren melancholischen Charme nicht entziehen. Ich hätte nicht erwartet, dass mich auf diesem Album ein Song gefühlsmäßig dermaßen intensiv berühren könnte. Gerade der Chorus geht direkt ins Herz.

„I Teach Angels How To Fly“ hätte auch gut der letzte Song des Albums sein können, aber mit dem coolen Westernrocker „The Name Lives On“ reite ich noch in den wunderschönen rotgold schimmernden Präriesonneuntergang und sitze anschließend am flackernden Lagerfeuer und genieße diesen Moment.

Fazit

TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION sind auf den staubigen Pisten und in der heißen Wüste von Texas zu Hause. Auch auf dem neuen Album „The Name Lives On“ liefern sie authentischen exzellenten Südstaatenrock. Damit bestätigen sie ihren eigenständigen Status als einer der besten Bands in diesem Genre.

TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION (Facebook/Homepage) have launched a musical heavyweight with „The Name Lives On“ on 21.04.’23. After the debut „Pride Of Texas“ in 2008, the new album „The Name Lives On“ is already the seventh album. These rockers are quite versatile. You can convince yourself of that with the discography.

The first single „Hell Hounds“ was one of these songs where I only had to hear the first riffs and I knew it was going to be awesome. The sound takes you immediately in its strong arms and does not let you go. Hard and heavy as a old iron locomotive the song grooves forward. Big Dad Ritch on the mic has a hell of a presence and leaves no doubt that he is the one and only for the vocals. This powerful voice is as raw and massive as rock formations of the Texas desert.

Hot for Rock

It’s the perfect soundtrack for a Rock trip. The heavy groovy tracks beat the dry desert dust out of your trousers. But the men can do other things as well. They rock just as loose tracks like for example the snappy „Built For The Road“ with a strong Hardrock attitude. The riff pistons shred and fire the powervoice of Big Dad. This gets every party going right on the Rock highway.

„Hard Habit“ is a fat stomper and warms up with radiant melodies that burn as hot as the midday sun in Texas. And then the groovy „Scream“ kicks in the swinging door to the saloon with brash steps and fat bass and really gets the place going.

The surprise of the album

is for me, however, the ballad „I Teach Angels How To Fly“. The usual strong presence of the sound is undoubtedly present, even if it strikes softer tones. In any case, this ballad fully picked me up and I could not escape its gloomy melancholic charm. I would not have expected that a song on this album could touch me so intensely emotionally. Especially the chorus goes straight to the heart.

„I Teach Angels How To Fly“ could well have been the last song on the album, but with the cool western rocksong „The Name Lives On“ I still ride into the beautiful red-gold shimmering prairie sunset and sit by the flickering campfire afterwards and enjoy this moment.

Conclusion

TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION are at home on the dusty tracks and in the hot desert of Texas. Also on the new album „The Name Lives On“ they deliver authentic excellent Southern Rock. With this they confirm their stand-alone status as one of the best bands in this genre.
