Es ist wieder Zeit für erbarmungslose Schlachten. EINHERJER ( Facebook ) lassen die Götter und auch `metal-heads.de´ mit ihrem neuen Album „North Star“ wieder einmal aufhorchen und bieten einen Anlass in Valhalla mal wieder richtig die Sau rauszulassen. Die Norweger haben es einfach im Blut! Wollen wir mal sehen mit was für Schlachtenhymnen die Krieger das Feld betreten. Unnötiges Vorgeplänkel in Form eines Intros sparen sich EINHERJER (Bedeutung: gefallene Krieger, die nach Valhalla geführt werden, näheres hier ) und ziehen direkt das eiskalte und stahlharte Schwert in Form von

„The Blood & The Iron“

aus der Scheide und metzeln wild drauflos. Da werden keine Gefangenen gemacht. In einem erbarmungslosen Angriff rasen Akkorde auf treibenden Drums voran. Die schneidenden (Black-)Metal-Screams von Sänger Frode geben dem Sound den letzten Schliff. Zerfetzende Gitarrensoli dürfen natürlich nicht fehlen. Der Chorus ist einfach Weltklasse und man kann gar nicht anders als den Titel „The Blood & The Iron“ mitzugröhlen. Somit ist der Opener ein perfekter Einstieg in das Album voller Hymnen.

Schlag auf Schlag…

geht es weiter. Was mich vor allem an dem Album begeistert, ist der ungemeine Spielwitz und die Spielfreude der Band, die einem bei jedem Song entgegenschlägt. Man nehme z.B. den Song „West Coast Groove“. Der Titel impliziert es schon. Der Song hat wirklich einen giftigen Groove, der einen einfach mitnimmt und Laune macht. Dies gipfelt in einem vom Bass eingeleiteten genialen spritzigen Gitarrensolo. Was mir immer wieder auffällt, ist der krasse Bass. Der bekommt viel Raum und kommt durchweg wunderbar zur Geltung. Zugegeben habe ich dafür eine Vorliebe.

EINHERJER

schaffen es mühelos das hohe Niveau zu halten. Sogar bei so überlangen Tracks wie z.B. „Listen To The Graves“ mit seinem prägnanten Refrain gelingt es durch spannendes und kurzweiligs Songwriting zu unterhalten. Lediglich zwei Songs fallen nach meinem Geschmack etwas zurück, und zwar „Higher Fire“ und „Echoes In Blood“, welches aber dennoch tolle Tracks sind.

„Chasing The Serpent“ beendet das Album stilsicher. Ein Song, welcher für mich als melancholisch düstere Wikinger-Powerballade durchgeht, da melodische Elemente in den Vordergrund treten, aber zum Kuscheln ist das trotzdem nix. Die brutale Ungestümtheit wird nur ein wenig zurückgefahren, dennoch hat der Song eine imposante Ausstrahlung.

„Stars“

spielt zwar tempomäßig in einer ähnlichen Liga, aber er lässt gnadenlos die schwere Streitaxt kreisen. Machtvoll stampft dieser Brecher durch das Schlachtfeld. Eine düstere Wahnsinnsnummer, die auch mit einem Video bedacht wurde:

Fazit

Das ist VIKING-Metal wie er leibt und lebt!

Friedensverhandlungen gibt es keine! Standesgemäß geht es auf dem Album rau, druckvoll und hart zur Sache. EINHERJER offerieren Hymne an Hymne. An „North Star“ kommt man als Fan von Viking-Metal nicht vorbei. Pflichtkauf!

It’s time for merciless battles again. EINHERJER let the gods and also `metal-heads.de‘ take notice once again with their new album „North Star“ and offer a reason to party again in Valhalla. The Norwegians simply have it in their blood! Let’s see with what kind of battle hymns the warriors enter the field. EINHERJER spare themselves unnecessary prelude in the form of an intro and directly draw the ice-cold and steel-hard sword

„The Blood & The Iron“

from the scabbard and slaughter wildly. No prisoners are taken. In a merciless attack, chords race forward on driving drums. The cutting (black) metal screams of singer Frode give the sound the final touch. Shredding guitar solos must not be missing, of course. The chorus is simply world class and you can’t help but sing along to the title „The Blood & The Iron“. Thus, the opener is a perfect introduction to the album full of anthems.

Blow upon blow

it goes on. What excites me most about the album is the band’s immense playfulness and joy of playing, which comes across in every song. Take the song „West Coast Groove“, for example. The title already implies it. The song really has a toxic groove that just takes you away and gets you excited. This culminates in a brilliant guitar solo introduced by the bass. Another thing that always strikes me is the distinctive bass. It gets a lot of space and comes into its own wonderfully throughout. Admittedly, I have a preference for it.

EINHERJER

manage effortlessly to keep the high level. Even with overlong tracks such as „Listen To The Graves“ with its concise chorus succeeds in entertaining through exciting songwriting. Only two songs fall a bit behind in my taste, namely „Higher Fire“ and „Echoes In Blood“, which are nevertheless great tracks.

„Chasing The Serpent“ ends the album as a melancholic, dark Viking power ballad with more melodic elements in the foreground. It’s still nothing to cuddle up to. The brutal impetuosity is only slightly reduced, but the song still has an imposing aura.

„Stars“,

who plays in a similar league in terms of speed, but this song mercilessly lets the heavy battle axe circle. He mightfully stomps through the battlefield. A dark madness track, which was also covered with a video:

This is VIKING-Metal as it lives and breathes!

There are no peace negotiations! As befits their status, the album is rough, powerful and hard to the point. With fun and playfulness EINHERJER delivers best entertainment. As a fan of Viking-Metal you can’t miss this album.
