DEAD TALKS (Facebook) aus Finnland orientieren sich beim Sound eher an klassischen Strukturen. Das bedeutet unter anderem, dass man auf dem Album keine cleanen Vocals finden wird. Der musikalische Ausdruck ist massiv und düster. Die Riffs walzen gewaltig voran, sind roh und vehement. So viel kann ich schon mal vorwegnehmen, bevor ich ein wenig mehr ins Detail gehe.

„Veneration Of The Dead“ ist ein wahrer Brecher!

Ohne Melodien gehts natürlich nicht und die fügen sich im Sound einwandfrei ein. Sie weichen die starke Soundwand nicht auf, sorgen aber für feine Verzierungen. Durch bunte Blumenwiesen wird man hier trozdem nicht schreiten. Es ist vielmehr ein Gang durch finstere Welten, die von dunklen Dämonen beherrscht werden. Würde ich in den Hades marschieren wollen, dann wäre das ein passender Soundtrack. Interessant wäre noch zu erwähnen, dass DEAD TALKS aus sechs Mitgliedern besteht, wobei es ganze drei Gitarristen gibt. Das ist schon sehr außergewöhnlich.

„Son Of The Nameless One“ als Opener

lässt es direkt ohne Vorgeplänkel krachen. Der schwere knochenzerschmetternde Sound bahnt sich seinen Weg. Die fiesen Growls von Sänger Antti Ström machen richtig was her und gehen durch Mark und Bein. Das passt alles zusammen. Es finden sich nicht nur in diesem Song viele doomige Elemente. Die Härte des Sounds resultiert nicht aus einem schnellen zerfetzendem Tempo. Es ist keine Kreissäge, sondern ein tonnenschweres Ungetüm, das alles niederwalzt, auch wenn DEAD TALKS mal einen Gang hörer schalten. Die Massivität des Sounds ist wirklich beeinruckend. Ein echt krasser Einstieg, der die Erde zum Beben bringt. Und dies hat man auch der super Produktion zu verdanken, die wirklich außerordentlich gut gelungen ist.

Die Videosingle „The End Of The Tunnel“

lässt Albträume wahr werden. In dem albtraumhaften Video wird jemand lebendig begraben. Ein Song mit Tiefgang sozusagen. Diese fiesen sägenden Riffs schälen dir das Fleisch von den Knochen. Und diese kleinen aber feinen fiesen Leads sorgen für einen zusätzlichen unheimlichen dramatischen Flair. Panik macht sich breit. Der schwere Bass und die wuchtigen Drums vermitteln ein Gefühl, als würden Tonnen von Erde dich erdrücken. Das sehr melodische Gitarrensolo fügt sich wunderbar ein. Dies drückt zwar eine gewisse Traurigkeit aus, aber wirkt zumindest für mich zugleich wie ein Lichtschein in der Dunkelheit. Krasser Song!

Niederschmetternd

DEAD TALKS schaffen es gekonnt dem Sound genügend Feinheiten zu verpassen, damit es nicht zu monoton wird. Grundsätzlich ändert sich an der Atmosphäre aber nix. Zum Glück! Die Songs erfahren ein Variation bei Rhythmik und Tempo. Neben der ganzen Prügel, die man hier einstecken muss, werden auch leicht atmosphärische Parts mit eingebaut, die sich in ihrer Wucht etwas zurückhalten und damit den Sound auflockern. Hierfür sein z.B. der Song „Skinless“ genannt (ab Minute 02:12).

Das groovige „Human Plague“ zeigt ebenfalls eine lebendigere Seite, wirkt insgesamt verspielter und kommt auch mit harmonisch melodischen Gitarreneinlagen daher. „Trigger Religion“ als Abschlusstrack fährt noch mal alles auf, was der Sound von DEAD TALKS hergibt. Der Song wütet mit aller Gewalt und schlägt wild um sich. Da bleibt kein Stein auf dem anderen. Auch hier fügt sich ein ruhigere melodischer Part ein, der das wüste Gemetzel pausiert, bis es am Ende noch mal brutal zur Sache geht. Das ist noch einmal ein richtiges Megabrett zum Abschluss.

Ein Song der besonderen und etwas anderen Art bietet „Death’s Charioteer“ mit seinem Black‘ N Roll Style. Der Song wirkt im Gesamtbild fast noch „gut gelaunt“ und fetzt gnadenlos gut!

Fazit

DEAD TALKS bereiten Euch mit „Veneration Of Death“ einen düsteren Horrortrip. Die acht gewaltigen Songs zermalmen mit ihrer Wucht alles und jeden auf ihrem Weg.

DEAD TALKS (Facebook) from Finland orientate their sound more on classical structures. This means, among other things, that you will not find clean vocals on the album. The musical expression is massive and gloomy. The riffs roll forward violently, are raw and vehement. So much I can tell you before I go a little more into detail.

„Veneration Of The Dead“ is a real crusher!

Without melodies, of course, it does not work and they fit perfectly into the sound. They do not soften the strong wall of sound, but provide fine ornaments. Nevertheless, you will not walk through colorful flower meadows here. It is rather a walk through dark worlds, which are ruled by dark demons. If I wanted to march into Hades, this would be a fitting soundtrack. It would be interesting to mention that DEAD TALKS consists of six members, with a whole three guitarists. That is already very unusual.

„Son Of The Nameless One“ as the opener

lets it crash directly without any warning. The heavy bone-crushing sound makes its way. The nasty growls of singer Antti Ström are really strong and make you tremble. It all fits together. There are many doomy elements not only in this song. The hardness of the sound does not result from a fast shredding tempo. It’s not a screeching buzz saw, but a heavy behemoth, which rolls down everything, even if DEAD TALKS shift a gear higher. The massiveness of the sound is really impressive. A really blatant entry that makes the earth shake. And this is also thanks to the super production, which is well done.

The single „The End Of The Tunnel“

makes nightmares come true. In the frightening video someone is buried alive. A song with depth, so to speak. Those nasty slow sawing riffs peel the flesh from your bones. And those sinister little leads add an extra eerie dramatic flair. Panic spreads. The heavy bass and massive drums give a feeling as if tons of earth are crushing you. The very melodic guitar solo blends in wonderfully. This expresses a certain sadness, but at the same time, at least for me, it seems like a ray of light in the darkness. Awesome song!

Shattering

DEAD TALKS skillfully manage to give the sound enough subtleties so that it doesn’t become too monotonous. Basically the atmosphere doesn’t change at all. Fortunately! The songs experience a variation in rhythm and tempo. Beside the whole beating, also slightly atmospheric parts are included, which hold back a bit in their force and thus loosen up the sound. For this, for example, the song „Skinless“ is mentioned (from minute 02:12).

The groovy „Human Plague“ also shows a more lively side, seems altogether more playful and also comes with harmonious melodic guitar interludes. „Trigger Religion“ as the closing track once again offers everything that the sound of DEAD TALKS has to offer. The song rages with all violence and strikes wildly. There remains no stone on the other. Also here a calmer melodic part inserts itself, which pauses the wild slaughter, until it goes at the end once again brutally to the point. This is once again a real banger to finish.

A song of the special and somewhat different kind offers „Death’s Charioteer“ with its Black‘ N Roll style. The song seems in the overall picture almost „good mood“ and shreds mercilessly good!

Conclusion

DEAD TALKS prepare you a dark horror trip with „Veneration Of Death“. The eight powerful songs crush everything and everyone in their path with destructive strength.
