„First Step To Hell“

was a crusher, which I had to present immediately in the series HÖRET & SEHET here at metal-heads.de, when I discovered the video on YouTube. However, this was the title song from the last album. Now the new output „Second Life“ will follow on 25.09.2020. Visually, CHAOSEUM definitely causes a stir, as the band members seem to have come from a horror movie. The cover of the album is appropriately illustrated and of very high quality. The artist Gustavo Sazes has done a great job. It won’t help little children to fall asleep, but we are not in kindergarten here, but at „metal-heads.de“. So we start the horror show. Now that we have found the way to hell with the „first step“, there is probably no escape.

„Hell Has No Way Out“

starts off like hell and the drums are pushing forward enormously at first. Melodic guitar leads accompany the powerful beginning. The song is peppered with well-placed breaks and tempo changes and the vocals are also used differently. The guitar solo is remarkable and well integrated into the song. So the beginning of the album would have been perfect. The title song „Second Life“ is also bursting with power and energy. The sound of

CHAOSEUM

is reminiscent of KORN, but they still cook their own little soup. I would say that in the end they go more in the harder direction and give their sound a good portion of gloom. The first single release „Stick Under My Skin“ is an example of what CHAOSEUM is all about. The song plays with quieter passages, building up an appealing tension to change into a pithy catchy chorus. The song ends with brute riffs, wild drums and deep guttural growls. This element is used more often at CHAOSEUM and is an enrichment to the overall concept. However, the two decouplings are not the hardest songs on the album. There are songs that add a touch of „hardness“.

„Sex In HELL“

with its dark catchiness also stands out very positively. An atmospheric song, which, besides great hooks, also features a remarkable guitar solo by guest musician Julian Barrett. At the end the song surprises with a smooth final part with acoustic guitar and clean vocals.

„Frozen“ as the last song is definitely the best song on the album for me personally. The song rocks like hell and knocks me out. A very diversified song with great hooks and cool crazy ideas in a crazy instrumental part, which inspires with unusual sounds and comes across damn good.

Result

CHAOSEUM are raising the quality of their debut album even higher. The sound is more mature and powerful throughout the album. CHAOSEUM deliver a well-rounded, high-quality package that can shine with some very remarkable highlights. The band is on a very good path. Furthermore, the whole thing is top produced, whether it concerns the musical production or the media design including a high-quality booklet. If you like the KORN group, you will like CHAOSEUM anyway. Everyone else should definitely listen in too, because it’s worth it!

First Step To Hell

war ein Brecher von Song, den ich umgehend in der Serie HÖRET & SEHET hier bei metal-heads.de vorstellen musste, als ich das Video bei YouTube entdeckte. Allerdings war dies der Titelsong vom gleichnamigen letzten Album. Nun folgt der neue Output „Second Life“ am 25.09.2020. Optisch sorgt CHAOSEUM auf jeden Fall für Aufsehen, den die Bandmitglieder scheinen einem Horrorfilm entsprungen zu sein. Das Cover des Albums ist dazu passend illustriert und sehr hochwertig dazu. Da hat der Künstler Gustavo Sazes tolle Arbeit geleistet. Kleinen Kindern wird es nicht gerade beim Einschlafen helfen, aber wir sind ja hier nicht beim „Sandmännchen“, sondern bei „metal-heads.de“. Also starten wir die Horroshow. Nachdem wir nun den Weg in die Hölle mit dem „first step“ gefunden haben, gibt es wohl kein Entrinnen mehr.

Hell Has No Way Out

legt höllisch los und die Drums preschen zunächst enorm voran. Melodische Gitarrenleads begleiten den druckvollen Beginn. Der Song ist gespickt mit gut gesetzten Breaks und geschickten Tempiwechsel. Der Gesang wird unterschiedlich eingesetzt. Das Gitarrensolo ist bemerkenswert und toll in den Song eingebunden. Somit wäre der Einstieg in das Album perfekt gelungen. Der Titelsong „Second Life“ gibt sich ebenfalls keine Blöße und strotzt nur so vor Kraft und Energie.

erinnern vom Sound an KORN, kochen aber trotzdem ihr eigenes Süppchen. Ich würde sagen, dass sie in letzter Konsequenz mehr in die härtere Richtung gehen und ihrem Sound eine gute Portion Düsternis verpassen. Die erste Singleauskopplung „Stick Under My Skin“ stellt beispielhaft dar, worum es bei CHAOSEUM geht. Der Song spielt mit ruhigeren Passagen, baut dabei eine ansprechende Spannung auf, um in einen kernigen eingängigen Refrain zu wechseln. Zum Ende des Songs geht es dann mit brachialen Riffs, wilden Drums und tiefen gutturalen Growls kurz richtig zur Sache. Dieses Element wird bei CHAOSEUM häufiger eingesetzt und ist eine Bereicherung im Gesamtkonzept. Allerdings sind die beiden Auskopplungen nicht die härtesten Songs des Albums. Da gibt es Songs, die noch ne Schüppe „Härte“ drauflegen.

„Sex In Hell“

mit seiner dunklen Catchiness sticht auch sehr positiv hervor. Ein atmosphärischer Song, der neben grandiosen Hooks auch mit einem sehr sehr geilen Gitarrensolo vom Gastmusiker Julian Barrett aufwarten kann. Am Ende überrascht der Song dann noch mit einem geschmeidigen Schlusspart mit akustischer Gitarre und cleanem Gesang.

„Frozen“ als letzter Song ist auf jeden Fall für mich persönlich der beste Song auf dem Album. Der Song rockt wie die Hölle und haut mich aus den Puschen. Ein sehr abwechslungsreicher Song mit tollen Hooks und coolen abgedrehten Ideen in einem irren Intstrumentalpart, der mit ungewöhnlichen Klängen begeistert und verdammt gut rüberkommt.

Fazit

CHAOSEUM schrauben die Qualität gegenüber dem Debütalbum weiter nach oben. Der Sound wirkt auf das gesamte Album gesehen ausgereifter und druckvoller. CHAOSEUM liefern ein rundes hochwertiges Package ab, das mit einigen sehr bemerkenswerten Highlights glänzen kann. Die Truppe ist auf einem sehr guten Weg. Außerdem ist das Ganze top produziert, egal ob es die musikalische Produktion betrifft oder die mediale Gestaltung inklusive hochwertigem Booklet. Wer die Gruppe KORN gut findet, der wird ohnehin an CHAOSEUM Gefallen finden. Alle anderen sollten unbedingt auch reinhören, denn es lohnt sich und ihr würdet etwas verpassen.
