Heute haben wir von metal-heads.de mal einen ganz gemischten News Beitrag für euch am Start. Verschiedene Stilrichtungen, aktuelle und kommende Releases und dazu ein paar Tourdaten. Ab geht es mit einem weiteren Eindruck zum neuen Live-Release von HAKEN. Wir stellen euch die Scheibe noch ausführlich mit einer Review vor. Für den Moment wollen wir euch einfach mit dem Video zu „Puzzle box“ eine Freude machen. Oh yeah:

Apropos live. Eine der emsigsten Bands was das (weltweite) Touren angeht, ist wohl die britische Formation PARADISE LOST. Die Mannen um Frontmann Nick Holmes sind auch anno 2025 für ein paar Gigs in den hiesigen Breiten unterwegs (und es werden bestimmt nicht die letzten sein). Die Informationen sind noch sehr spärlich, aber immerhin können wir mit Begeisterung vermelden, dass die Herrschaften von INCUBUS noch in diesem Jahr ein neues Studioalbum über Universal Records unter die Leute bringen wollen. Die kommende Scheibe soll „Something in the water“ heißen und weitere Details sind noch nicht bekannt.

FLIGHT OF ICARUS haben wir uns das Video zum Titeltrack des am 13.06.2025 erscheinenden neuen Studioalbums „Terra Nova“ parat. Zehn Songs plus den IRON MAIDEN-Song „Flight of icarus“ (wie passend) als Cover und Bonustrack auf der CD-Ausgabe sind auf dem neuen Release enthalten. Musik ab:

HAKEN, INCUBUS, CAREGAH & mehr

Ihr habt Bock auf Musik aus Schweden? Es soll groovig daherkommen? Dann sollten wir dem neuen Material von CAREGAH eine Chance geben. Ende des Monats erscheint am 30.05.2025 über ROAR das Debütalbum „Osmium“ mit einem Dutzend Tracks. Dabei gehören 4 Songs zu EP „Forsaken“, die auf der CD als Bonus Feature enthalten ist. Wir haben heute das Video zum Opener des Albums für euch. Hier kommt „Forever merciless“:

Weiter im Text geht es mit EDENSONG und dem Lyric Video zum Song „Book of complaints“. Das dazugehörige Album mit seinen 9 Stücken soll am 09.05.2025 erscheinen und den Titel „Our road to dust“ tragen. Es soll auch eine Tour zum Release geben. Hier kommt die Single für euch:

Dann liefern wir euch doch gleich mal das nächste Lyric Video. Es gehört zum Song „Echoes of death“ der Formation PASSENGERS IN PANIC. Am 06.06.2025 soll das neue Album namens „Amnesia“ über Sleazy Rider Records erscheinen und diese Nummer wird auch darauf enthalten sein.

Am 11.07.2025 soll das neue MÄDHOUSE-Album mit dem Titel „Plead the fifth“ erscheinen und jetzt schon wollen wir euch mit dem Video zum Song „Wicked hearts“ anheizen und euch die Wartezeit verkürzen. Die österreichischen Glam Metaller wollen eine mit satten 13 Stücken bepackte Langrille herausbringen und ihr bekommt jetzt einen Eindruck vom neuen Material des Fünfers:

Beschließen wollen wir diesen Beitrag mit einer Kostprobe der vor einer Woche veröffentlichten EP „Minus Illusion“. Die Scheibe stammt von den Thrash Metallern von SANDFINGER und isst einerseits digital und dann auch noch als CD im Pappschuber erhältlich. Ihr habt die Qual der Wahl. METALHEADs Toplist 2023 – Heavy Metal: KKs PRIEST, ANTHEM, DARK EMBRACE, CAREGAH, AORTHA! Ihr werdet sehen bzw. hören, wie unterschiedlich Bands Heavy Metal interpretieren.

KKs Priest

KKs PRIEST (Facebook) entstand aus einer Idee im Jahre 2019. Der Bandname ist nicht zufällig, war K.K. Downing doch bis 2011 Gitarrist bei JUDAS PRIEST. Und wenn man vom Bandnamen den Bezug zur legendären Band so direkt herstellt, dann weiß man eigentlich auch schon, was man musikalisch zu erwarten hat.

KKs PRIEST zocken klassischen Heavy Metal! Und wer nicht mehr erwartet, der ist bei dem aktuellen Album „The Sinner Rides Again“ genau richtig aufgehoben. Alles wird erwartungsgemäß höchst professionell dargeboten. Die Gitarrenarbeit ist mitreißend. An diesen Riffs und Solos kann man sich einfach nie satt hören. Dazu kommt noch die passende Röhre von Sänger Tim Owens, der (Was für ein Zufall!) auch schon bei Judas Priest ins Mikro geträllert hat. Im Ergebnis bekommt man ein rundum gelungenes Heavy Metal Fest, dass zwar nicht überrascht, aber trotzdem verdammt gut zu unterhalten weiß.

Übrigens war unser Redakteur ‚Hellion‘ schon bereits vom Vorgängeralbum „Sermons of the Sinner“ sehr angetan. Außerdem hat als echter Experte in Sachen Judas Priest in seinem super Review noch viele interessante Hintergrundinfos parat. Das solltet ihr auf jeden Fall lesen, und zwar hier!

ANTHEM

ANTHEM (Facebook) kommen aus Japan. Vier Jahre nach dem weltweit veröffentlichten und von der Kritik gefeierten Album „Nucleus“ im Jahr 2019 (eine Neuaufnahme ihrer Hits mit englischen Texten) hat die führende japanische Heavy-Metal-Band ANTHEM nun ihr brandneues Studioalbum „Crimson & Jet Black“ in diesem Jahr veröffentlicht.

Die schnell galoppierenden Songs sind ein Markenzeichen auf „Crimson & Jet Black“. Dabei beweist man das Geschick den Songs trotzdem ein eigenes Gewand zu verpassen. Aber auch wenn die Songs alle über jeden Zweifel erhaben sind und beste Unterhaltung bieten, bleibt „Wheels Of Fire“ für mich der Übersong auf diesem Album mit einem echt coolen Gitarrensolo. Das Gitarrenspiel von Akio Shimizu ist ohnehin echt heißer Scheiss. Die Riffs sind der absolute Hammer! Es ist ein Paradebeispiel für einen perfekten Heavy Metal Song. (Review)

„Wheels Of Fire“

DARK EMBRACE

DARK EMBRACE (Facebook) haben mit ihrem Album „Dark Heavy Metal“ für Aufsehen gesorgt. Denn diese Band hat auf jeden Fall ihren eigenen Sound erschaffen und genießen dadurch einen sehr hohen Wiedererkennungswert. Das liegt vor allem am eigenwilligen Gesang von Frontmann Oscar auf. Prägnant sind die hohen Töne, die er plötzlich mit heiserer Stimme rausschreit. Aber damit ist es nicht getan. Gesanglich holt er hier alles raus, was die Stimmbänder so hergeben. So sind hohe Screams, dunkle Growls und epische Chöre ein Markenzeichen der Band. Es ist schwer heutzutage noch Bands zu finden, die wirklich durch Andersartigkeit überraschen. Ich bin von den innovativen stilistischen Ansätzen der Band sehr angetan. (Review)

DARK EMBRACE mischen den Heavy Metal auf. Das Album „Dark Heavy Metal“ besticht durch mutiges erfrischendes Songwriting, welches in allen Bereichen hervorragend umgesetzt wurde. Den eigenwilligen Vocal-Mix habt ihr mit Sicherheit so noch nicht gehört. Der brennt sich förmlich im Kopf ein. Die Herren an den Instrumenten fackeln ein beeindruckendes Feuerwerk ab, welches niemanden unbeeindruckt lässt.

„Never Seen The Sun“

Ein wahnsinnig beeindruckendes Debüt haben die Schweden CAREGAH (Facebook) mit ihrem Album „Osmium“ abgeliefert. Der Sound klingt richtig fett und groovt wie die Sau! Eigentlich sehr schwer die Band in eine musikalische Schublade zu stecken. Es erwartet euch eine Mischung aus ‚Testament‘, ‚Pantera‘ und auch ‚Black Label Society‘. Daher habe ich mich für folgende Beschreibung entschieden: Unglaublich massiver, aber dennoch dynamischer Heavy Metal. Ein Traum für jeden Headbanger wird mit diesem Album wahr, denn der Sound knallt richtig durch und der Kopf kann gar nicht anders, als in heftige Schwingungen zu verfallen. CAREGAH haben mit „OSMIUM“ eine massives Stück Metal geschmiedet. Es ist wie der Ritt auf einer stählernen Abrissbirne oder das Surfen auf einer Monsterwelle. Ihr werdet gnadenlos mitgerissen. Es ist massiv! Es ist hart! Und es rockt! Ein absoluter Volltreffer!

„Forever Merciless“

AORTHA

AORTHA (Facebook) ist ein Herzblut-Projekt des Musiker Predrag Glogovac. Die Entstehung hat eigentlich einen tragischen Hintergrund. Kurz gesagt: Die damalige aufstrebende Heavy Metal Band MONOLIT erlitt mit dem Beginn der Balkan Kriege einen plötzlichen Tod. Und das kann man auch wörtlich nehmen, denn der damalige Drummer verstarb in diesem Krieg. Wer mehr über die Hintergründe von AORTHA wissen möchte, dem sei unser Interview ans Herz gelegt.

Aber nun zum Album MONOLIT! Wenn wir über alle Facetten des Heavy Metal sprechen, dann ist dieses Album die Referenz dafür. Der Sound klingt grundsätzlich rau und aggressiv. Über die angriffslustige Geradlinigkeit hinaus bieten die Songs immerzu eine spannende Diversität. So sprinten AORTHA auch gerne mal durch die Welt des Thrash-Metal und sorgen für Zündungen im Moshpit-Kessel. Dann geht es mal klassisch zu Werke oder man entfaltet ein geniales progressives Monster wie „When All Around You Is Madness“. (Review)

Darüber hinaus muss man würdigen, dass Predrag dieses Projekt mal abgesehen vom Mixing und Mastering komplett in Eigenregie ohne Label auf die Beine gestellt hat. Er hat eine Armada von erstklassigen Musikern für dieses Projekt gewinnen könnten. Zudem hat er das Album in einem super hochwertigen CD-Book und einer wunderschönen Vinylausgabe verewigt. Wahnsinn!

Das Album „Monolit“ von AORTHA ist ein Meisterwerk! Es ist die perfekte Show mit allem, was packenden Heavy Metal ausmacht. Dabei findet man eine super Balance zwischen rauer aggressiver Härte und harmonischen Melodien. Diese Balance äußert sich mitunter in progressiven Songstrukturen, welche aber das Ziel nicht aus den Augen verlieren. Vielmehr ist es eine höchstspannende mitreißende und auch faszinierende Reise, die man nicht verpassen sollte.

KKs Priest

KKs PRIEST (Facebook) was born out of an idea in 2019. The band’s name is no coincidence, as K.K. Downing was the guitarist for JUDAS PRIEST until 2011. And if the band name makes such a direct reference to the legendary band, then you already know what to expect musically.

KK’s PRIEST play classic Heavy Metal! And if you don’t expect more, the current album „The Sinner Rides Again“ is just the thing for you. As expected, everything is presented in a highly professional manner. The guitar work is captivating. You can never get enough of these riffs and solos. Added to this is the fitting voice of singer Tim Owens, who (what a coincidence!) also sang for Judas Priest. The result is an all-round successful Heavy Metal feast that doesn’t surprise, but still manages to entertain damn well.

Incidentally, our editor ‚Hellion‘ was already very impressed by the previous album „Sermons of the Sinner“. As a real expert on Judas Priest, he also has a lot of interesting background information in his great review. You should definitely read it here (only german)!

ANTHEM

ANTHEM (Facebook) come from Japan. Four years after the globally released and critically acclaimed album „Nucleus“ in 2019 (a re-recording of their hits with English lyrics), leading Japanese Heavy Metal band ANTHEM have now released their brand new studio album „Crimson & Jet Black“ this year.

The fast, galloping songs are a trademark on „Crimson & Jet Black“. At the same time, the band proves to have the skill to give the songs their own character. But even though the songs are all beyond reproach and offer the best entertainment, „Wheels Of Fire“ remains for me the most awesome song on this album with a really cool guitar solo. It’s a prime example of a perfect heavy metal song.  It will have a place in my eternal list of best songs. Akio Shimizu’s guitar playing is really hot shit anyway. The riffs are absolutely awesome! DARK EMBRACE (Facebook) have caused quite a stir with their album „Dark Heavy Metal“. This band has definitely created its own sound and therefore enjoys a very high recognition value. This is mainly due to the unconventional vocals of frontman Oscar. The high notes that he suddenly shouts out in a hoarse voice are striking. But that’s not all. Vocally, he pulls out everything his vocal chords have to offer. High screams, dark growls and epic choirs are a trademark of the band. It’s hard to find bands these days that really surprise you with something different. I am very impressed by the band’s innovative stylistic approaches. (Review)

DARK EMBRACE give the Heavy Metal a huge freshness. The album „Dark Heavy Metal“ impresses with courageous energetic songwriting, which has been implemented excellently in all areas. The idiosyncratic vocal mix you have certainly not heard before. It literally burns itself into your head. The gentlemen at the instruments torch an impressive firework, which leaves no one unimpressed.

The Swedes CAREGAH (Facebook) have delivered an incredibly impressive debut with their album „Osmium“. The sound is really fat and grooves like hell! That’s why I decided on the following description: Incredibly massive, yet dynamic Heavy Metal. AORTHA (Facebook) is a passion project by musician Predrag Glogovac. Its origins actually have a tragic background. In a nutshell: MONOLIT, an up-and-coming Heavy Metal band at the time, suffered a sudden death at the start of the Balkan wars in 1991. And you can take that literally, because the drummer died in this war. If you want to know more about the background of AORTHA, we recommend our interview.

But now to the album MONOLIT! If we are talking about all facets of heavy metal, then this album is the reference. The sound is fundamentally raw and aggressive. Beyond the aggressive straightforwardness, the songs always offer an exciting diversity. AORTHA also like to blast through the world of thrash metal and ignite a mosh pit. Then they go classic or unleash an ingenious progressive monster like „When All Around You Is Madness“.(Review)

It must also be acknowledged that, apart from the mixing and mastering, Predrag has created this project entirely on his own without a label. He was able to recruit an armada of first-class musicians for this project. He has also immortalized the album in a super high-quality CD book and a beautiful vinyl edition. Wow!

The album „Monolit“ by AORTHA is a masterpiece! It is the perfect show with everything that makes up gripping heavy metal. It strikes a great balance between rough, aggressive heaviness and harmonious melodies. This balance sometimes manifests itself in progressive song structures that never lose sight of the goal. Rather, it is a highly exciting and fascinating journey that should not be missed.

Interview

MH: Hallo CAREGAH! Ihr habt vor kurzem euer Debütalbum „Osmium“ veröffentlicht. Ein Debüt ist immer etwas ganz Besonderes für eine Band. Was waren eure ersten Gedanken, als ihr am Tag der Veröffentlichung aufgewacht seid?

CAREGAH–Marcus: Es fühlt sich verdammt gut an, und wir sind stolz auf das, was wir aus eigener Kraft erreicht haben. Wir waren wahrscheinlich am meisten darauf gespannt, was die Leute davon halten würden.

CAREGAH- Dogge: „Endlich!!!“ war der erste Gedanke. Wir haben schon seit einiger Zeit an diesem Album gearbeitet und konnten es nicht mehr erwarten, es mit unseren Freunden, unserer Familie und den Leuten, die uns gerne hören, zu teilen. Hoffentlich gewinnen wir auch einige neue Fans!

MH: Wird die Begeisterung für Metal von Ihren Familien geteilt?

CAREGAH-Marcus:Ich muss sagen, dass vor allem mein Junge jetzt wahrscheinlich alle Caregah-Songs auf der Gitarre kennt, ansonsten spielt er gerne Slipknot, Metallica, Volbeat usw. Das ist doch super!

CAREGAH-Dogge: Nein, meine Familie hört keinen Metal! Aber nun haben sie keine Wahl mehr! Unsere Lieder werden von nun an bei den Familienfeiern gespielt.

Erste Reaktionen der Metal-Szene

MH: Wie sind die Reaktionen auf Ihr Album? Ihr habt auf eure Kosten CDs produzieren lassen. Kaufen die Leute auch die physischen Kopien? Wird das Album auch auf Vinyl erscheinen? Die meisten Bands ohne Label können so etwas nur über Crowdfunding finanzieren.

CAREGAH: Die Reaktionen waren sehr gut, viele Leute melden sich über verschiedene Plattformen und sagen, dass es ein verdammt gutes Album ist, was schön ist. Die Leute kaufen tatsächlich CDs, unsere Freunde, aber auch im Ausland, wie zum Beispiel in Amerika.
Gleichzeitig ist das eine Möglichkeit, ein Budget zusammenzubekommen, um eine Charge Vinyls produzieren zu können. Es wird also Vinyl garantiert in naher Zukunft kommen.

Ein Dankeschön an die Frauen

MH: Bevor wir uns mit dem Album beschäftigen, würde es die Leute bestimmt interessieren, wie
ihr euch als Band zusammengefunden habt. Kannst du uns etwas darüber erzählen?

CAREGAH: Marcus war gerade aus dem nördlichen Teil Schwedens zurück nach Hause gezogen und wollte nach vielen Jahren in anderen Konstellationen wieder eine Band zusammenstellen. Marcus kannte Patrik schon eine Weile, weil ihre Frauen zusammen gearbeitet haben. Wir fragten bei Dogge und Fille nach, ob sie Lust hätten mitzuspielen. Und seither stecken sie in CAREGAH fest. Wir können uns also bei den Mädels bedanken, dass sie sich angefreundet hatten.

Naturgewalt

MH: Wenn ihr eure Band mit einer Naturgewalt beschreiben müsstet, welche würdet ihr wählen? Erdbeben, Tornado, Gewittersturm, Tsunami, Vulkanausbruch oder etwas anderes?

CAREGAH: Wenn wir es mit einer Naturgewalt vergleichen sollten, würden wir sagen, ein Erdbeben.
Wir spielen gerne heftig, wir spielen gerne laut, und wir hoffen, dass sich der Boden ein bisschen bewegt, wenn wir live spielen.

MH: War es von Anfang an klar, wie das Album klingen sollte, oder hat sich der Sound mit der Zeit entwickelt? Was war Ihnen in Bezug auf den Sound besonders wichtig? Zusammengefasst: Wie hat sich das Album entwickelt?

CAREGAH: „Terrorized“ war der erste Song, den wir abgemischt haben und der den Ton für das gesamte Album vorgab. Marcus mag den lauten und schweren Bass (wie wir alle), gemischt mit den knallenden Drums und den riffenden Gitarren.

Loyale Fans

MH: Ich habe bemerkt, dass Ihr bereits eine sehr treue Fangemeinde haben. Ich denke, dass Ihr in Eurer Region bekannt seid, richtig? Wie schwer ist es für eine Band, Leute im Ausland zu erreichen?

CAREGAH: Ja, das macht Spaß hier! Wir haben eine Menge Leute, die zu den Konzerten hier in der Heimat kommen. Aber wir haben auch eine gute Resonanz aus dem Ausland bekommen, zum Beispiel aus den USA, Deutschland, England. Wir werben in verschiedenen Ländern, um gesehen zu werden. Die Leute teilen viel in den sozialen Medien, und darüber freuen wir uns.

MH: Stellen Sie sich vor, Sie würden Ihr Album an eine Band oder einen Musiker schicken und es würde auf jeden Fall gehört werden… An wen würden Sie es schicken?

CAREGAH: Sepultura, Metallica, Pantera, Black Label Society wären schon geil, um von denen eine Rückmeldung zu erhalten.

Die massive Produktion

MH: Wer hat das Album produziert?

CAREGAH: Alles ist auf den unteren Bereich reduziert! Und es ist unser guter Freund Ronnie Björnström von Björnström Ljud & Produktion (Facebook/Homepage) in Sundsvall in Nordschweden, der es geschafft hat, das zu erreichen, was wir anstrebten!

Die Ballade „Tombstone“

MH: „Tombstone“ (Grabstein) sticht als Song heraus, weil es die einzige Ballade auf dem Album ist. Geht es um eine persönliche Angelegenheit?

CAREGAH-Marcus: Ja! „Tombstone“ begleitet mich schon sehr lange und der Inhalt ist sehr persönlich, aber ich behalte es für mich und möchte lieber anderen Menschen die Möglichkeit geben, die Lyrics auf ihre eigene Weise zu interpretieren.

MH: In der Ballade wird deutlich, dass Marcus auch mit cleanen melodischen Vocals sehr gut umgehen kann und fantastisch klingt. Es unterstreicht, dass Marcus als Sänger sehr vielseitig ist und viele Möglichkeiten der musikalischen Interpretation eröffnet. Bleibt so etwas die Ausnahme?

CAREGAH-Marcus: Ja, aber ich denke schon: Balladen sind gut geeignet, um die etwas weichere Seite meines Denkens in Bezug auf Gefühle usw. einzufangen. Die nächste Platte wird wahrscheinlich eine weitere Ballade enthalten. Es ist schon eine auf Lager!

Keine Limits

MH:Neben der Ballade greife ich nun drei weitere Songs heraus, die für mich sehr unterschiedlich klingen. „Smoke Of Doom“ klingt einerseits schwerfällig und hart, hat aber auch seine groovigen Phasen. „Floods Of No Return“ hat eher einen lockeren Upbeat-Vibe mit einer Rock’n’Roll-Attitüde und „Into The Grave“ ist ein kurzer Heavy-Sprint. Wie weit geht eure Bereitschaft zu experimentieren? Setzt ihr Grenzen oder sagt ihr, dass alles möglich ist, solange es noch Metal ist?

CAREGAH: Wir setzen uns keine Grenzen. Wir testen Sachen, und solange es schwer ist und Groove hat, warum nicht! Wir denken, dass es dann ein bisschen interessanter ist und mehr Spaß macht, eine Platte zu hören..

Weitere Pläne und Wünsche

MH: Was sind Ihre Pläne oder Wünsche für die Zukunft? Möchten Sie auch außerhalb Schwedens Konzerte geben?

CAREGAH: Wir wollen die Welt erobern, haha! Natürlich wollen wir auch im Ausland spielen, und am liebsten noch viel mehr hier zu Hause in Schweden. Unsere Musik live zu spielen ist das Beste, was es gibt!

MH: Wie ist die Situation in Schweden? Gibt es viele Möglichkeiten, als Newcomer Auftritte zu bekommen? Hier in Deutschland hat sich die Situation nach der Pandemie ein wenig normalisiert, aber sie ist noch nicht auf dem alten Niveau. Viele Bands haben Schwierigkeiten, Gigs zu bekommen. Gute Musik allein reicht nicht mehr aus. Ohne großen finanziellen Aufwand oder mit einem Label im Hintergrund geht oft gar nichts mehr. Was denkst du darüber?

CAREGAH: Dem können wir zustimmen! E ist nicht leicht bei so vielen guten Bands da draußen das Dickicht zu durchdringen. Es ist wichtig, „die richtigen Leute zu kennen“, sonst wird es schwierig, und viele etablierte Clubs haben eine schwere finanzielle Zeit. Aber wir bemühen uns und versuchen, die Leute und verschiedene Veranstaltungsorte zu erreichen.

MH: Welches Konzert oder Festival haben Sie in letzter Zeit besucht und wo würden Sie gerne wieder hingehen?

CAREGAH: Wir sind regelmäßige Besucher des Sweden Rock Festivals und als Band würden wir gerne dort spielen. Vorzugsweise wären größere Festivals in ganz Europa schön gewesen! Download, Hellfest, Copenhell zum Beispiel.

CAREGAH (Facebook) have named their debut album after the hardest metal on earth: OSMIUM. In fact, this fits perfectly with the music that the Swedes present us on their album.

It is massive! It is hard! And it rocks! An absolute bull’s eye!

MH: Hello CAREGAH! You have recently released your debut album „Osmium“. A debut is always something very special for a band. How did you feel about it? What were your first thoughts when you woke up on release day?

CAREGAH-Marcus: It feels damn good, and we are proud of what we achieved on our own.
We were probably most curious about what people would think of it.)

CAREGAH- Dogge: Finally! Was the first thought. We’ve been working on this album for some time now and we couldn’t wait any longer to share this with our friends, family and the people who like to listen to us, hopefully we’ll gain some new fans as well!

MH: Is the enthusiasm for metal shared by your families?

CAREGAH-Marcus:I have to say that, Especially my boy, he probably knows all caregah songs on guitar now, otherwise he likes to play slipknot, metallica, volbeat etc. and thats nice

CAREGAH-Dogge: No, my family doesn’t listen to heavy music, but they don’t have a choice anymore! Our songs will be played at the family dinners from now on.

First reactions by the metal scene

MH: How are the reactions to your album? You have had CDs produced at your expense. Do are people also buying the physical copies? Will the album also be released on vinyl? Most bands without a label can only finance something like this with crowdfunding.

CAREGAH: The reactions have been very good, many people get in touch via different platforms and say that it’s a damn good album, which is nice. People actually buy CDs, our friends but also abroad, like America for example.
At the same time this is a way to get a budget together to be able to produce a package of vinyls So Vinyl is guaranteed to come in the near future.

A thank you to the wives

Before we go any further into the album, I think people would be interested to know how
you came together as a band. Can you tell us something about it?

CAREGAH: Marcus had just moved home from the northern part of Sweden and wanted to put a band together again after many years in other constellations. I knew Patrik a while back when our ladies worked together once upon a time. We checked with Dogge and Fille if they were keen to try playing, since then they have been stuck in Caregah. So we can thank the girls for getting in touch from the start.

Force of nature

MH: If you had to describe your band with a force of nature, which one would you choose? Earthquake, tornado, thunderstorm, tsunami, volcanic eruption or anything else?

CAREGAH: If we should compare it to a force of nature we would say an earthquake.
We like to play heavy, we like to play loud, and we hope that the ground moves a bit while we’re playing live.

MH: Was it clear from the beginning how the album should sound or did the sound evolve over time? Did it take a long time until it sounded the way you wanted it to? What was particularly important to you in terms of sound? In summary: How did the album develop?

CAREGAH: „Terrorized“ was the first song we mixed and the one that set to tone for the entire album. Marcus likes the loud and heavy bass (so do we all) mixed in with the blasting drums and the riffing guitars.

Loyal fanbase

I noticed that you already have a very loyal fanbase. So I think you are known in your
region, right? How hard is it for a band to reach people abroad?

CAREGAH: Yes, which is fun! We have a crowd of people who come to the gig here in the home area. But we have received a good response from abroad including, for example, the USA, Germany, England. We advertise in different countries to be seen. People share a lot on social media, and we’re happy about that.

MH: Imagine if you sent your album to a band or musician and it would definitely be heard?Who would you send it to?

CAREGAH: Sepultura, Metallica, pantera, black label society Would have been fun and received a review from, for example.

The massive sound

MH: The production sounds very massive. Who is responsible for this?

CAREGAH: Everything is dropped to the low end! And it is our good friend Ronnie Björnström at Björnström Ljud & Produktion up in Sundsvall in northern Sweden who has managed to achieve what we were aiming for!

The ballad „Tombstone“

MH: Tombstone stands out as a song because it is the only ballad on the album. Is it about a personal matter?

CAREGAH-Marcus: Yes, Tombstone has been with me for a long time and is very personal in its plot to me, but I keep it to myself and would rather give other people the chance to interpret it in their own way.

MH: In the ballad it becomes clear that Marcus can also handle clean soulful vocals very well and sound fantastic. It underlines that Marcus is very versatile as a singer and opens up many possibilities in musical interpretation. Will something like this still remain the exception?

CAREGAH-Marcus: Yes, but I think so: Ballads are good at capturing the slightly softer side of my thinking in feelings, etc. The next record will probably contain another ballad, there is one in stock

No limits

MH: Besides the ballad, I now pick out three other songs that sound very different to me. „Smoke Of Doom“ sounds ponderous and tough on the one hand, but also has its groovy phases. „Floods Of No Return“ has more of a loose upbeat vibe with a rock ’n‘ roll attitude and „Into The Grave“ is a short heavy sprint. How far would your willingness to experiment go? Do you set limits or do you say that everything is possible as long as it’s still metal?

CAREGAH: We set no limits. We test stuff, and as long as it’s heavy and has groove, then why not! It will be a little more interesting and fun to listen to a record then, we think.

plans and wishes

MH: What are your plans or wishes for the future? Would you also like to give concerts outside
Sweden?

CAREGAH: We want to conquer the world, Haha! Of course we want to go out and play abroad, and preferably a lot more here at home in Sweden as well. Playing our music live is the best there is!

MH: What is the situation like in Sweden? Are there many possibilities to get gigs as a newcomer? Here in Germany the situation has normalized a bit after the pandemic, but it‘ s not on the old level yet. Many bands have difficulties to get gigs. Good music is not enough anymore. Often, without a big financial outlay or with a label in the background, there’s hardly anything going on. What do you think about it?

CAREGAH: We can agree, it’s not easy to cut through the thicket with so many good bands out there. It is important to „know the right people“ otherwise it will be tough and many established clubs are having a hard time financially. But we are struggling and trying to reach out to people and to different venues.

MH: Which concert or festival have you been to recently and where would you like to go?

CAREGAH: We are regular visitors to the Sweden rock festival and as a band we would like to play there. Preferably bigger festivals around Europe would have been nice! Download, Hellfest, Copenhell for example.

Die schwedische Band CAREGAH (Facebook) hat mit „OSMIUM“ ihr Debüt fertiggestellt. Da mir sehr viele Bands aus den nordischen Ländern zusagen, habe ich mir es auch bei CAREGAH nicht nehmen lassen ihr Album zu rezensieren, zumal die ersten Singles bereits sehr eindrucksvoll waren. Das Album besteht aus acht Songs, welche sich über eine Spielzeit von 37 Minuten erstrecken.

Heftige Schwingungen

Der Sound ist tatsächlich etwas schwer zu beschreiben, aber ich kann eines vorab schon mal festhalten: Der Sound klingt richtig fett und groovt wie die Sau! Unglaublich massiver, aber lebendiger Heavy Metal wäre vielleicht eine passende Beschreibung. Ein Traum für jeden Headbanger wird mit diesem Album wahr, denn der Sound knallt richtig durch und der Kopf kann gar nicht anders, als in heftige Schwingungen zu verfallen. Es ist wie der Ritt auf einer tonnenschweren Abrissbirne. Es erwartet euch eine Mischung aus ‚Testament‘, ‚Pantera‘ und auch ‚Black Label Society‘.

Beim Song „Smoke Of Doom“ wird man direktesten damit konfrontiert, dass der Sound mitunter auch den DOOM einatmet. Düster und zäh walzt der Song zunächst durch die Gehörgänge. Doch man höre und staune, wenn der Song hin und wieder mit einem zügigen Schritt nach vorne treibt. Der Gesang passt sich den unterschiedlichen instrumentalen Gegebenheiten an. Die Vocals kommen zunächst ziemlich lässig rüber, wechseln dann aber auch in kraftvolle energische Parts. Ist doch ziemlich cool, oder?

Massiver Groove und mehr

Mit „Into The Grave“ legen die Jungs einen kurzen heftigen Sprint hin, denn der Song rennt lediglich knapp unter zwei Minuten. Eine echter Moshpit Zünder. Dagegen dauert die Überraschung des Albums über sechs Minuten und ist das genaue Gegenteil. „Tombstone“ wurde in die Mitte des Albums plaziert. Tatsächlich hätte wohl niemand eine Ballade auf dem Album erwartet, die mit akustischer Gitarre und melodischem Gesang versöhnlichere Töne anschlägt.

Passt das in so ein Album oder nicht? Das gibt es wohl unterschiedliche Meinungen. Ich finde tatsächlich, dass die Ballade sehr schön präsentiert wird. Vor allem die Stimmfarbe gefällt mir auch hier richtig gut. Dazu vollzieht der Song eine schöne Klimax und verwöhnt mit einem wunderbaren Gitarrensolo. Ich frage mich nur, ob dieser Song nicht als letzter Track sinnvoller gewesen wäre, da er den Schwung und die Energie schon ziemlich aprupt rausnimmt.

Viel Schwung hat allerdings auch der Schlusstrack „Floods Of No Return“, der wohl die meisten Rock ’n‘ Roll Vibes inne hat. Hier surft man auf einer monstermäßigen Groove-Welle. Das macht mächtig Spaß, zumal der Song in den sechs Minuten mit echt coolen Phasen auftrumpft, so z.B. ab Minute 02:38. Intensiviert wird das noch durch ein fetziges Gitarrensolo, die auch sonst auf dem Album gut zu unterhalten wissen. Und der Schluss des Songs ist ebenfalls ziemlich crazy.

„Forever Merciless“ als Opener des Albums ist dagegen eine rüde Wildsau und pflügt hemmungslos durch den Erdboden. Übrigens sind nicht nur die wuchtigen Drums, die fetten Riffs, sondern auch der kräftige Bass mit seinen brachialen Schwingungen verantwortlich für den deftigen massiven Sound.

Dabei sollte man nicht übersehen, dass die Jungs ihrem Sound trotzdem einige Feinheiten verpassen, die einem vielleicht nicht sofort auffallen, aber durchaus vorhanden sind und den Sound bereichern.

Fazit

CAREGAH haben mit „OSMIUM“ eine massives Stück Metal geschmiedet. Es ist wie der Ritt auf einer stählernen Abrissbirne oder das Surfen auf einer Monsterwelle. Ihr werdet gnadenlos mitgerissen. Es ist massiv! Es ist hart! Und es rockt! Ein absoluter Volltreffer!

Dabei offenbaren CAREGAH eine attraktive Vielfältigkeit, die am deutlichsten bei der Ballade „Tombstone“ hervortritt. Doch auch in den anderen Songs zeigen sich trotz all ihrer Gewaltigkeit überall gewisse Feinheiten, welche das ungeheure Potential der Band verdeutlichen. So darf man mehr als gespannt sein, was die Band uns in Zukunft noch zeigen wird. Aber bis dahin können wir mit ihrem Album „Osmium“ gewaltig abrocken.

Ich kann keinerlei Schwächen diesem Album erkennen, sondern nur Krachersongs, die mich perfekt unterhalten. Ja, auch die Ballade gefällt mir richtig gut. Und das will schon was heißen. Mir gefällt der unkomplizierte Sound, der es sofort schafft mich zu packen. Es müssen nicht immer komplizierte oder innovative Arrangements vorhanden sein, um bei mir die Höchstpunktzahl zu bekommen. Das wichtigste ist, dass die Musik mir Entertainment bietet. Und dies ist CAREGAH bestens gelungen. Von daher kann es für mich nur 10 Punkte geben. Ich beende das Review mit den Worten von CAREGAH:

The Swedish band CAREGAH (Facebook) has completed their debut with „OSMIUM“. Since I like a lot of bands from the Nordic countries, I did not miss the opportunity to review CAREGAH’s debut album, especially since the first singles were already very impressive. The album consists of eight songs, which extend over a playing time of 37 minutes.

Heavy vibes

The sound is actually a bit difficult to describe, but I can state one thing in advance: It sounds really fat and grooves like hell! Incredibly massive, but lively heavy metal would perhaps be a fitting description. A dream for every headbanger comes true with this album, because the sound really bangs through and the head can not help but to fall into violent vibrations. It’s like riding a wrecking ball that weighs a ton. You can expect a mixture of ‚Testament‘, ‚Pantera‘ and also ‚Black Label Society‘.

With the song „Smoke Of Doom“ one is confronted most directly with the fact that the sound sometimes also breathes DOOM vibes. Gloomy and tough the song rolls through the ears. But listen and be amazed when the song drifts forward every now and then with a brisk step. The vocals adapt to the different instrumental circumstances. The vocals come across pretty casual at first, but then also change into powerful energetic parts. It’s pretty cool, isn’t it?

Massive groove and more

With „Into The Grave“ the guys start a short violent sprint, because the song runs just under two minutes. A real moshpit igniter! In contrast, the surprise of the album lasts over six minutes and is the exact opposite. „Tombstone“ was placed in the middle of the album. In fact, probably no one would have expected a ballad on the album, which strikes more conciliatory tones with acoustic guitar and melodic vocals.

Does it fit into such an album or not? I guess there are different opinions about that. I actually think that the ballad is presented very nicely. Especially the melodic vocals on „Tombstone“ pleases me really well. In addition, the song performs a beautiful climax and spoils with a wonderful guitar solo. I just wonder if this song would not have been more sensible as the last track, because it takes out the swing and energy already quite aprupt.

However, the final track „Floods Of No Return“, which probably has the most rock ’n‘ roll vibes, also has a lot of momentum. Here you surf on a monster groove wave. This is a lot of fun, especially since the song comes up with really cool parts in the six minutes, for example from minute 02:38. This is intensified by a great guitar solo. The solos also know how to entertain otherwise on the album. And the end of the song is also pretty crazy.

„Forever Merciless“ as the opener of the album, on the other hand, is a rude wild boar and plows unrestrained through the ground. By the way, not only the massive drums, the fat riffs, but also the powerful bass with its brute vibrations are responsible for the hefty heavy sound.

It should not be overlooked that the guys give their sound some subtleties that you may not immediately notice at once, but are definitely present and enrich the sound.

Conclusion

CAREGAH have forged a massive piece of metal with „OSMIUM“. It’s like riding a heavy steel wrecking ball or surfing a monster wave. You will be swept along mercilessly. It’s massive! It’s hard! And it rocks! A real bull’s eye!

Thereby CAREGAH reveal an attractive diversity, which is most obvious in the ballad „Tombstone“. But also in the other songs, despite all their massive power, certain subtleties show up everywhere, which clarify the tremendous potential of the band. So we can be more than curious what the band will show us in the future. But until then we can rock out tremendously with their album „Osmium“.

I can’t see any weaknesses in this album, but only fucking great songs that entertain me perfectly. I also really like the ballad. And that means something. I like the uncomplicated sound, which immediately manages to grab me. There doesn’t always have to be complicated or innovative arrangements to get the highest score from me. The most important thing is that the music offers me entertainment. And CAREGAH has succeeded in this. So I have to give 10 points. I close my review with the words of CAREGAH:
