entfesseln die zweite Single „Necropolitans“ von ihrem kommenden Album „“Mycelium“, welches am 26.01.2024 über Mighty Music erscheinen wird. Und auch die zweite Single ist ein megastarker Auftritt der dänischen Band MANTICORA (Facebook), so dass diese natürlich hier bei HÖRET & SEHET vorgestellt wird. Nach dem letzten Mammutprojekt mit zwei Alben, mit welchen der Roman von Frontmann Lars. F. Larsen musikalisch umgesetzt wurde, scheint man nun auf dem neuen Album „Mycelium“ weniger progressiv aufzuspielen. Zumindest die letzten beiden Singles weisen daraufhin, dass die Spielzeiten kürzer und es eingängiger zur Sache geht.

Der Opener des letzten Albums „To Live To Kill To Live“ (Review) ging satte 14 Minuten. „Necropolitans“ als Zünder des neuen Albums „Mycelium“ geht da einen erheblich kürzeren Weg. An Energie mangelt es MANTICORA allerdings nach wie vor nicht. „Necropolitans“ besticht mit eingängigen melodischen Gesangslinien, die schon ins theatralische gehen. Ansonsten gibt es instrumental die volle Breitseite. Wer MANTICORA kennt, der weiß, dass er technisch hochwertige Kost serviert bekommt. Sollte das Albums lauter so Kracher wie die bereits veröffentlichten Singles enthalten, dann dürfen wir uns wohl über ein richtig starkes Album freuen.

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE

Nach fast 10 Jahren Abwesenheit hat sich die nach eigener Einschätzung „brutalste“ Band der Welt, AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE (Facebook) , zurückgemeldet. „No Pain No Gain“ war vor vier Wochen die erste Single des kommenden Albums „Quad Brutal“, das am 23.02.2024 über Napalm Records erscheinen wird.

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE ist ein Projekt von As I Lay Dying-Frontmann Tim Lambesis. „Quad Brutal“ wird von Gästen auf jedem Track unterstützt. Zusätzlich zu den Gesangsbeiträgen von Dany Lambesis (HELLBØRN) werden die Tracks von den professionellen Bodybuildern und Sängern Craig Golias und Rob Bailey gnadenlos aufgeputscht. Außerdem finden sich Ricky Hoover (Ov Sulfur, ex-Suffokate) ein, so wie die Gitarrenvirtuosen Angel Vivaldi, Clayton King und Brandon Richter (Bleeding Through), Joey Alarcon (Wolves at the Gate, Born Through Fire) und noch mehr. Oh, and Ahhnold selber natürlich auch!

Ich kann mit Stolz sagen, dass „Don’t Be Lazy“ der am wenigsten brutale Song auf „Quad Brutal“ ist. Dennoch ist es ein durchweg krachender Song, der sich auf 280 bpm beschleunigt. Und er präsentiert den größten Menschen, der jemals in ein Mikrofon geschrien hat. Ahhnold wollte, dass ich eine Hymne schreibe, an die sich selbst die größten Idioten im Fitnessstudio erinnern können, damit sie nicht vergessen, ihre Gewichte neu zu sortieren. Abgesehen davon gibt es NICHTS mehr zu sagen. Stresst die Leute nicht, indem ihr eure Gewichte nicht wegräumt!

Der Song ist brutaler Brecher. Aber die Band geht gleichzeitig mit einer Tonne Humor an die Sache heran. Ich habe mich jedenfalls beim Genuß dieses Videos köstlich amüsiert und das nicht nur einmal. Einfach nur geil! Diese Idee mit diesen Mini-Mikrofonen allein ist schon Weltklasse!

MEGATON SWORD

kommen aus der Schweiz. MEGATON SWORD (Facebook) rocken starken Heavy Metal. Das neue Album „Might & Power“ wurde bereits dieses Jahr veröffentlicht und könnt ihr auf Bandcamp erwerben. Nun gibt es vom Opener „The Ravin Light Of Day“ ein Live-Video.

Und ich muss sagen, dass mir diese Version noch besser gefällt als die Studio-Version. Was für eine geile Performance! Die Stimme von Uzzy Unchained klingt einfach nur mega bei diesem mächtigen Song. Sollte die Band jemals in meiner Nähe live spielen, werde ich auf jeden Fall dabei sein. Das lasse ich mir nicht entgehen, denn auch instrumental spielt die Band fett auf.

AORTHA

Das Projekt AORTHA (Facebook) von Predrag Glogovac hat eine ganz besondere Geschichte und es hat eines der besten Alben 2023 hervorgebracht. Wer mehr darüber wissen möchte, der sollte sich das Review und das Interview hier bei ‚metal-heads.de‘ durchlesen. Es gibt zudem ein neues Video zu dem Song „Forging The Locus“.

Auch diese Single zeigt mehr als eindrucksvoll wie packender anspruchsvoller Heavy Metal zu klingen hat. Megageile Riffs, ein fantastischer Sänger, lebendige Drums und ein strenger Bass machen neben dem hervorragenden Songwriting die Songs von AORTHA aus. Allein dieser massive Beginn ist eine mächtige Kampfansage, bis das Ding dann in die Vollen geht und sich von seiner thrashigen Seite zeigt. Geschicke Tempiwechsel und epische Gesangslinien vervollkommnen diesen hammergeilen Song.

Die Botschaft ist mehr als deutlich: Es ist wichtig, sich als Mensch zu erheben, und besonders in dieser verrückten Welt, in der wir alle leben. Es ist wichtiger denn je, positiv und stark zu bleiben, für sich selbst und für die Menschen um einen herum!

After an absence of almost 10 years, the „most brutal“ band in the world has returned. Four weeks ago, AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE (Facebook) delivered „No Pain No Gain“ as the first single from the upcoming album „Quad Brutal“, which will be released on February 23, 2024 via Napalm Records.

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE is a project by As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis. „Quad Brutal“ is supported by guests on every track – in addition to vocal contributions from Dany Lambesis (HELLBØRN), the tracks are mercilessly amped up by professional bodybuilders and vocalists Craig Golias and Rob Bailey. I can proudly say that ‚Don’t Be Lazy‘ is the least brutal song on Quad Brutal because it’s still crushing, ramping up to 280 bpm, and features the largest human to ever scream into a microphone. Ahhnold wanted me to create an anthem that even the biggest idiots in the gym can remember so they don’t forget to re-rack their weights. Other than that, there’s NOTHING LEFT to say. Don’t put other people THROUGH STRUGGLE in re-racking your weights.

The song is a brutal crusher. But the band also approaches it with a ton of humor. In any case, I had a great time and not just once. This video is just awesome! For example this idea with these mini microphones is world class!

MEGATON SWORD

come from Switzerland.MEGATON SWORD (Facebook) rock strong heavy metal. The new album „Might & Power“ was already released this year and could be yours on Bandcamp. Now there is a live video of the opener „The Ravin Light Of Day“.

And I have to say that I actually like this version a little better than the studio version. What a great performance! Uzzy Unchained’s voice sounds awesome on this powerful song. If the band ever play live near me, I’ll definitely be there. I won’t miss it, because the band also plays great instrumentally.

AORTHA

Predrag Glogovac’s project AORTHA (Facebook) has a very special background and has produced one of the best albums of 2023. If you want to know more about it, you should read the review and interview here at ‚metal-heads.de‘. There is also a new video for the song „Forging The Locus“.

This single also shows more than impressively what gripping, sophisticated Heavy Metal should sound like. Mighty riffs, a fantastic singer, lively drums and a tight bass make up the songs of AORTHA alongside the excellent songwriting. This massive opening alone is a very strong attack, until this banger goes into full speed and shows its thrashy side. Clever tempo changes and epic vocal lines complete this awesome song.

The message is more than clear: it’s important to stand up as a human being, and especially in this crazy world we all live in. It’s more important than ever to stay positive and strong, for yourself and for the people around you!

HÖRET & SEHET mit der dritten Ausgabe im November. Heute bleiben wir mal musikalisch in einer ähnlichen Liga.

MANTICORA

aus Dänemark sind für ihren hochwertigen, teils auch progressiven Thrash Metal bekannt. Das letzte Magnus Opus, das aus den beiden Alben „To Kill To Live To Kill“ und „To Live To Kill To Live“ (Review) bestand und als Thema das selbst geschriebene Buch von Frontmann Lars F. Larsen hatte, war schon gewaltig (Interview mit Lars) Nun startet man das nächste Kapitel:

“Mycelium” wird das neue Album von MANTICORA (Facebook) heißen, was am 26.01.2024 über Mighty Music erscheinen wird. „Beast Of The Fall“ lautet der Titel der neuen Single.

Mit dem Konzept des Albums im Hinterkopf und mit dem Text dieses Songs, der von dunklen Dämonen handelt, die durch das Mycelium unter dem Waldboden auf die Erde kommen, wollten wir einen Wald darstellen, der so unheimlich und gruselig wie möglich ist, um ein Gefühl zu erzeugen, dass man nicht an diesem Ort sein möchte. Ein Ort, an dem das Böse lauert und die Hölle auf Erden entstehen könnte.

„Beast Of The Fall“ hört sich schon mal verdammt vielversprechend an. Dunkel und hart geht es los, dann folgt schon einmal das erste schöne melodische Gitarrenolo, das von galoppierenden Drums begleitet wird. Dann wird es ernst und die Jungs knüppeln heftig drauflos. Sänger Lars F. Larsen ist gut bei Stimme und haut seine Vocals mit der gewohnten Inbrunst hinaus. Insgesamt ist der Song recht eingängig gestaltet und nicht so progressiv wie manch andere Werke der Band. Technisch bewegt man sich wie gewohnt auf einem hohen Level und man darf sich an instrumentalen Kunstfertigkeiten in einem furiosen musikalischen Wirbelsturm erfreuen.

WITHERFALL

aus den U.S.A. sind ebenfalls ein Garant für technisch anspruchsvollen Thrash Metal, der auch gerne mal in eine progressive theatralische Richtung geht. WITHERFALL (Facebook) zaubern immer wieder glanzvolle Songs hervor und haben schon hochkarätige Alben veröffentlicht, so z.B. auch das letzte Album „Curse Of Autumn“ aus dem Jahr 2021 (Review) Also ist der Genuß der aktuellen Single „Insidious“ natürlich ein Pflichtprogramm und somit ein Teil von Höret & Sehet!

Nach einer verrückten Schreib- und Aufnahmewelle, die uns kreuz und quer durch die USA und in fünf verschiedene Bundesstaaten führte, präsentieren wir euch die vielleicht aufwändigste Witherfall-Produktion aller Zeiten. „Insidious“, die erste Single aus unserem 4. Album. Der Song entstand um vier Uhr morgens unter einem nebligen Vollmond in einem Bewusstseinsstrom, wobei das zentrale Thema und die musikalische Landschaft in einem einzigen Take geschrieben wurden. Der Kontrast zwischen Konsonanz und Dissonanz in der Komposition führt den Hörer auf eine Reise in den Wahnsinn. Der Song wurde komplett mit analogen Instrumenten aufgenommen und von Zeuss mitproduziert. Das Video, das sowohl von Bradley Cooper als auch von Cig Neutron produziert wurde, repräsentiert das allgegenwärtige Unbehagen und das allgemeine Gefühl der Spaltung in unserer heutigen Kultur. Wir wünschten, wir könnten sagen, dass bei der Produktion dieses Videos keine Puppen zu Schaden gekommen sind…

Witherfall auf YouTube

Der Song beginnt explosiv ohne Vorgeplänkel. Es ist, als ob man Benzin in ein Feuer schüttet und die Flammen hochschnellen. Technisch spielt die gesamte Band mal wieder high end und schenkt dem Hörer eine Flut von musikalischen Eindrücken. Wer WITHERFALL kennt, der weiß, dass die Songs meist einen progressiven Verlauf nehmen. Die oben erwähnten theatralischen Ausschweifungen dürfen selbstverständlich nicht fehlen. Das ist eben die speziell emotionale Ader, die man an WITHERFALL liebt und ein Merkmal von Sänger Joseph ist, der sich gerne vielfältig ausdrückt und für eine ganze eigene Atmosphäre sorgt. John Dreyer als wahrer Virtuose an der Gitarre schenkt uns ein ausuferndes atemberaubendes Gitarrensolo und sticht auch sonst zwischendurch mit coolen Tönen hervor. Drummer Chris Tsaganeas sorgt ebenfalls für ein beeindruckendes Trommelinferno.

W.E.B.

kommen aus Griechenland. Die Single „Into Hell Fire We Burn“ ist wohl der Inbegriff eines ungestümen Heavy-Metal-Angriffs. So servieren W.E.B. eine rohe und blutige Schlachtplatte. Eine durch und durch brutale Angelegenheit. die von Anfang bis Ende durchknallt. Mehr gibt es eigentlich nicht zu sagen, aber Sänger/Gitarrist Sakis Prekas hat noch einen Kommentar zum Song:

Dieser Song ist einfach aus dem Nichts entstanden, nachdem ich ein Gitarrenvideo des verstorbenen Alexi Laiho gesehen habe. Musikalisch folgt er keiner ‚Children of Bodom‘-Form, aber Inspiration wird immer Inspiration bleiben.
„Into Hell Fire We Burn“ ist das, was man einfach einen extremen Heavy Metal-Song nennen würde, und das ist es, was wir als Band daran lieben. Der Text geht durch das Konzept der sieben Todsünden und der Refrain ist für alle Sünder, die die Konsequenz des Verbrennens im Höllenfeuer herbeisingen.

„Beast Of The Fall“ sounds damn strong. It starts off dark and hard, followed by the first beautiful melodic guitar solo accompanied by galloping drums. Then things get serious and the guys start bludgeoning away. Singer Lars F. Larsen is in good voice and belts out his vocals with his usual fervor. Overall, the song is quite catchy and not as progressive as some of the band’s other works. As usual, the technical level is high and you can enjoy the instrumental artistry in a furious musical whirlwind.

WITHERFALL

from the U.S.A. are also a guarantee for technically demanding thrash metal, which can sometimes take a progressive, theatrical direction. WITHERFALL (Facebook) always conjure up brilliant songs and have already released top-class albums, such as the last album „Curse Of Autumn“ from 2021 (Review) So enjoying the new single „Insidious“ is of course a must and therefore part of Höret & Sehet!

After a crazy writing and recording spree that had us crisscrossing the USA and working in five different states. We present to you perhaps the most involved Witherfall production to date. „Insidious“ first single from our 4th full length album. The song was birthed at four in the morning under a foggy full moon in a stream of consciousness with the central theme and musical landscape written/improvised in a single take. The contrasting consonance and dissonance in the composition takes listeners on a decent into madness. The song was recorded with all analog instruments and was Co-Produced by Zeuss. The video produced by both Bradley Cooper and Cig Neutron represents the pervasive malaise and general sense of division in our current culture. We wish we could say no puppets were harmed during the making of this video…

The song starts explosively without any prelude. It’s like pouring gasoline into a fire and the flames shoot up. Technically, the entire band once again plays at the high end and gives the listener a flood of musical impressions. Anyone familiar with WITHERFALL knows that the songs usually take a progressive course. Of course, the aforementioned theatrical excesses are not to be missed. This is the special emotional vein that one loves about WITHERFALL and is a characteristic of singer Joseph, who likes to express himself in many different ways and creates a unique atmosphere of his own. John Dreyer, a true virtuoso on the guitar, gives us a breathtaking guitar solo and also stands out in between with cool tones. Drummer Chris Tsaganeas also provides an impressive inferno.

W.E.B.

come from Greece. The single „Into Hell Fire We Burn“ is probably the epitome of an impetuous heavy metal attack. This is how W.E.B. (Facebook) serve up a raw and bloody meal. A thoroughly brutal affair that blasts from start to finish. There’s not really much more to say, but singer/guitarist Sakis Prekas has a comment on the song:

This song just came out of nowhere as a composition after watching a guitar video of the late Alexi Laiho. Musically it doesn’t follow any Children of Bodom forms yet, inspiration will always be inspiration. ‘Into Hell Fire We Burn’ is what you would simply call an extreme heavy metal song and that’s what we love about it as a band. The lyrics go through the seven deadly sins concept and the chorus suggests all sinners chanting the consequence of burning into Hell’s fire.

Da ich euch immer neue und verschiedene Seiten im Rock und Metal zeigen möchte, suche ich immer Bands und Song raus, die meiner Meinung nach besonders herausstechen. Auch wenn wir hier vorrangig Bands aus den Underground vorstellen, so möchte ich in der heutigen Ausgabe möchte ich euch drei Bands präsentieren, die den Underground Status bereits verlassen haben. Zudem entsprechen sie nicht dem harten Rock und Metal Genre, machen aber trotzdem richtig viel Spaß!

FIDDLER’S GREEN

sind bekannt wie bunte Hunde und sorgen immer für geile Stimmung bei ihren Auftritten. Nun haben FIDDLER’S GREEN (Facebook) ihre erste Single vom kommenden Album „The Green Machine“ veröffentlicht. Und ich muss zugeben, dass ich von diesem Song gar nicht genug bekomme. Die Single heißt „The Bog“ und sorgt mit fantastischer Leichtigkeit und Frohsinn für gute Laune. So ein Song lässt einen sofort aufspringen und man tanzt sich die Seele aus dem Leib. Es ist der Inbegriff von Unbeschwertheit und einfach Spaß haben. FIDDLER’S GREEN verpassen euch die volle Impfung positiver Musik. Die einzige Nebenwirkung ist fröhlicher friedvoller Spaß am Leben! Nehmt euch das zu Herzen!

THE DEAD SOUTH

ist eine kanadische Folk-Blues-Grass Band. Mit über einer Million Follower auf YouTube sind sie wahrlich keine Underground Band. Und diesen Erfolg haben sie sich redlich verdient. Der Sound ist schlichtweg genial. Ja ich weiß… Keine brutalen Riffs, keine Blastbeats, keine Extreme Vocals. Und doch mag ich diese Musik, denn sie ist einfach essentiell. Auf das notwendigste beschränkt entfachen THE DEAD SOUTH (Facebook) einen umwerfenden faszinierenden Sound, dem man sich nicht entziehen kann. Der Song hat trotz seiner lockeren leichten Art einen melancholischen Touch. Alles an diesem Song ist fantastisch. Der Bass kommt megamäßig rüber, die Gitarre und das Banjo klingen genial und der Gesang ist phänomenal. Und dann dieser Part ab Minute 02:42! Was ist das denn für ein geiles Ding! Glaubt mir: Niemand wird diesen Song nur einmal hören! Jeder wird diesen genialen Song in Dauerschleife hören!

CORVUS CORAX

sind ebenfalls keine Unbekannten. Mit ihrer neuen Single „In Taberna Secundus“ geraten wir nach den vorangegangenen Single-Vorstellungen zwar in andere Fahrwasser, aber nicht minder unterhaltsam. CORVUS CORAX (Facebook) kommen mehr aus der Mittelalter-Folk-Gilde. Mir ihren authentischen traditionellen Instrumenten gelingt es ihnen immer wieder für eine magische Soundkulisse zu sorgen. „In Taberna Secundus“ hat zwei Gesichter. Einerseits zündet der Song ein Feuerwerk guter Laune, offenbart aber auch epische Moment mit sakralen Auswüchsen, wenn die mehrstimmigen Chöre erklingen. Eine außergewöhnliche Mixtur mit anziehender und mitreißender Wirkung.

As I always want to show you new and different sides of rock and metal, I always pick out bands and songs that I think stand out. Even though we mainly present bands from the underground here, in today’s issue I would like to present three bands that are well known in the music scene. They don’t belong to the hard rock and metal genre, but nevertheless they’re a lot of fun!

FIDDLER’S GREEN

are known as band of rousing irish folk and always create a great atmosphere at their gigs. Now FIDDLER’S GREEN (Facebook) have released their first single from their upcoming album „The Green Machine“. And I have to admit that I can’t get enough of this song. The single is called „The Bog“ and puts you in a good mood with its fantastic lightness and cheerfulness. A song like this immediately makes you jump up and dance your heart out. It is the epitome of light-heartedness and simply having fun. FIDDLER’S GREEN give you the full vaccination of positive vibes. The effect is a cheerful, peaceful enjoyment of life! Take that to heart!

THE DEAD SOUTH

is a Canadian folk-blues-grass band. With over a million followers on YouTube, they are truly not an underground band. And they have truly earned their success. The sound is simply brilliant. Yes, I know… No brutal riffs, no blast beats, no extreme vocals. And yet I like this music because it’s simply essential. Reduced to the bare essentials, THE DEAD SOUTH (Facebook) unleash a stunningly fascinating sound that you can’t escape. The song has a melancholy touch despite its easy-going, light nature. Everything about this song is fantastic. The bass is strong, the guitar and banjo sound brilliant and the vocals are phenomenal. And then comes this part from minute 02:42! What an awesome part that is! Believe me: Nobody will listen to this song just once! Everyone will listen to this brilliant song in a continuous loop!

CORVUS CORAX

are also no strangers. Their new single „In Taberna Secundus“ takes us into different waters, but is no less entertaining. CORVUS CORAX (Facebook) come more from the medieval folk guild. With their authentic traditional instruments, they always manage to create a magical soundscape. „In Taberna Secundus“ has two faces. On the one hand, the song ignites a firework of good mood, but also reveals epic moments with sacred excesses when the polyphonic choirs sound. An extraordinary mixture with an attractive and captivating effect.

ALQEMISTE + DELIRUM’S DAWN + THE PINPRICKS

Heute habe ich bei HÖRET & SEHET Oktober(2) drei tolle, aber völlig unterschiedliche Band für euch. Support the underground!

ALQEMISTE

aus Regensburg hatten wir schon mal bei unserer Serie HÖRET & SEHET im September vorgestellt. ALQEMISTE (Facebook) bieten ein modernes Metalerlebnis mit einer extravaganten Metalcore/Deathcore-Mischung. Mittlerweile sind wieder zwei Singles rausgekommen und die möchten wir euch natürlich nicht vorenthalten. Hinter den Singles steckt ein Konzept und bauen thematisch aufeinander auf.

Grundsätzlich befassen sich die Songs mit der persönlichen Überforderung in der heutigen Zeit. Jede Epoche hat so seine eigenen Herausforderungen und jeder Mensch muss sich unterschiedlichen Anforderungen und Erwartungen stellen. Die Band kommentiert zur Single „Recharge“ folgendes:

Sie haben einen Vollzeitjob, Freundschaften, die Sie pflegen müssen, Hobbys und vielleicht sogar einen Nebenerwerb. Sie wissen, dass Sie sich Zeit für sich selbst nehmen sollten, aber woher sollen Sie diese Zeit nehmen? Diese alltägliche Überforderung bis hin zur totalen Erschöpfung fangen alqemiste in ihrer neuen Single „Recharge“ ein.

Kommentar ALQEMISTE

„Recharge“ ist dunkel und aggressiv. Der Song stampft kompromisslos drauflos und trampelt alles nieder. Aber auch kommt die Unvorhersehbarkeit zum Tragen, die ich schon beim letzten Artikel hervorgehoben habe. Nach 90 Sekunden weichen die Riffs einem Part mit dunklen elektronisch geprägten Part mit einer coolen Rap-Einlage, die an Aggressivität mehr und mehr zunimmt, um dann wieder in purer Wut zu enden.

„I’m Not A Robot“ zeigt wiederum noch eine andere Seite von ALQEMISTE, denn hier duellieren sich die massiven Riffmonster mit einem gefühlvollen eingängigen Chorus. Selbstverständlich dürfen die brutalen Breakdowns nicht fehlen, die mit erbarmungslosen Schlägen für ein gewaltiges Beben sorgen .

Du musst funktionieren, jeden Tag, in jeder Situation und unter allen Umständen. Jeder erwartet von dir, dich aufzuopfern und immer weiterzumachen, auch wenn du am liebsten einfach fliehen würdest.
Wir sind jedoch keine Roboter, sondern lebendige, denkende Wesen. Mit all den Anforderungen
und Verpflichtungen, denen wir gegenüberstehen, kann die Last o erdrückend sein. Wir müssen
einen Ausweg finden.

DELIRIUM’S DAWN

DELIRIUM’S DAWN (Facebook) aus München sind mit ihrer neuen Single „The Vial am Start. Freunde der harten Töne sollten hier auf jeden Fall mal nicht nur ein Ohr, sondern beide riskieren.

Ich würde die Band mal grob in die Kategorie Melodic Death Metal reinpacken, wobei sie gerne auch mit benachbarten Genres liebäugeln. Im Ergebnis gibt es einen erfrischenden Mix, der nicht nur technisch einwandfrei gebrettert wird, sondern dazu brutal mitreißend inszeniert wird. Enge musikalische Korsetts sind nicht so ihr Ding, so dass das Soundkonzept die eine oder andere Überraschung zu bieten hat. Mit diesen modernen Ansätzen hat man bereits auf dem letzten Album „Horizons“ aus 2020 echt coole Tracks abgeliefert und sich damit durchaus eine individuelle Note verschafft.

Die neue Single „The Vial“ wird euch mit Sicherheit ebenfalls überzeugen. Dabei zeigen DELIRIUM’s DAWN sich geradliniger und druckvoller als auf dem letzten Album. Zum einen gibt es bei dieser Single keine cleanen Vocals und „The Vial“ marschiert relativ straight voran, ohne seine Richtung zu verlassen. Das Riffing hört sich wirklich cool an und der Bass wummert kräftig mit. Der Song schaltet lediglich für ein tolles Gitarrensolo einen Gang zurück.

THE PINPRICKS

aus Kiel stechen für lockeren Rock ’n‘ Roll. Ganz unkompliziert knallen sie ihre Songs raus. Auf dem Album „Bait“ (2020) ging der Rock noch in eine „düstere“ Richtung, es klang teilweise etwas dreckiger und atmete auch mal ein wenig den Blues ein, wenn ich so z.B. an „Two-Wheeler-Blues“ denke oder die an das Jimi-Hendrix-Cover „Foxy Lady“ denke. Ich erinnere aber auch an modernere Songs wie „Voices“ mit seinen Hardrock-Vibes. Die Ausstrahlung der neuen Songs hat sich dahingehend etwas gewandelt.

Mittlerweile sind THE PINPRICKS (Facebook) etwas (pop-)punkiger unterwegs, die Stimmung in den Songs ist fröhlicher und versprühen gute Laune. „If You Only Had The Time“ ist dafür ein Paradebeispiel.

Eines hat sich jedenfalls nicht geändert bei THE PINPRICKS. Sie sind immer noch eine Do-It-Yourself-Band! Auch die Videos sind meistens ihrer Phantasie und Kreativität entsprungen. So verhält es sich auch bei der neuen Single „I’m Not Sorry“, die schön frech provozierend rüberkommt und sofort im Kopf hängenbleibt. Und das verrückte bunte Self-Made-Video ist erstklassig geworden und passt hervorragend zu dem Song. Wir dürfen uns übrigens Anfang nächsten Jahres über ein neues Albums freuen.

ALQEMISTE

from Germany we already presented in our series HEAR & SEE in September. ALQEMISTE (Facebook) offer a modern metal experience with an extravagant metalcore/deathcore mixture. In the meantime two singles have been released again and of course we don’t want to withhold them from you. Behind the singles is a concept and build thematically on each other.

Basically, the songs deal with personal overload in today’s world. Every era has its own challenges and every person has to face different demands and expectations. The band comments on the single „Recharge“ as follows:

You have a full-time job, friendships to maintain, hobbies, and maybe even a side hustle. You know you should take time for yourself, but where are you going to find that time? This everyday overload to the point of total exhaustion is captured by ALQEMISTE in their new single „Recharge“.

ALQEMISTE

„Recharge“ is dark and aggressive. The song stomps uncompromisingly on it and chrashes everything down. But also the unpredictability comes into play, which I already emphasized in the last article. After 90 seconds the riffs give way to a part with dark electronically influenced part with a cool rap interlude, which increases in aggressiveness more and more, to then end in pure rage again.

„I’m Not A Robot“ shows another side of ALQEMISTE, because here the massive riff monsters duel with a soulful catchy chorus. Of course, the brutal breakdowns may not be missing, which provide a huge tremor with merciless blows.

You have to function, every day, in every situation and under all circumstances. Everyone expects you to sacrifice yourself and always keep going, even if you would prefer to just run away.
However, we are not robots, but living, thinking beings. With all the demands
and obligations we face, the burden o can be overwhelming. We must
find a way out.

DELIRIUM’S DAWN

from Germany are at the start with their new single „The Vial. Friends of the hard sounds should risk here in any case not only an ear, but both.

I would put DELIRIUM’S DAWN (Facebook) roughly into the category of Melodic Death Metal, although they also like to flirt with neighboring genres. As a result, there is a refreshing mix, which is not only technically flawlessly boarded, but also brutally rousing staged. They don’t like tight musical corsets, so the sound concept has one or the other surprise to offer. With these modern approaches, they have already delivered really cool tracks on the last album „Horizons“ from 2020 and thus definitely provided themselves with an individual touch.

The new single „The Vial“ will surely convince you as well. Thereby DELIRIUM’s DAWN show themselves more straightforward and punchy than on the last album. For one thing, there are no clean vocals on this single and „The Vial“ marches relatively straight ahead without leaving its direction. The riffing sounds really cool and the bass is booming along strongly. The song only shifts down a gear for a great guitar solo.

THE PINPRICKS

from Germany stand for cool Rock ’n‘ Roll. They bang out their rousing songs in an uncomplicated catchy way. On the album „Bait“ (2020) the music was going in a „darker“ direction, it sounded partly a bit dirtier and also breathed in the blues a bit, when I think of „Two-Wheeler Blues“ or the Jimi Hendrix cover „Foxy Lady“ for example. But I also remember more modern songs like „Voices“ with its hard rock vibes. The mood of the new songs has changed a little bit.

In the meantime THE PINPRICKS (Facebook) became a bit more (pop-)punky. The mood in the songs is more cheerful and spreads a good mood. „If You Only Had The Time“ is a good example of this.

One thing hasn’t changed with THE PINPRICKS. They are still a do-it-yourself band! Also the videos are mostly from their imagination and creativity. This is also the case with the new single „I’m Not Sorry“ that comes across nicely cheeky provocative and sticks immediately in the head. And the crazy colorful self-made video is first class and fits perfectly to the song.

sind eine schwedische Rockband und können bereits auf eine lange Karriere und Diskografie zurückblicken. Aktuell haben sie die Single „Whiskey Tango Foxtrott“ veröffentlicht. Eine wunderbarer eingängiger waschechter 80′ er Jahre Rocksong, der zudem noch mit Videoschnipseln des Kultfilms „Tango & Cash“ bebildert wird. Das neue Album „Two Shots at Glory“ von CRAZY LIXX (Facebook) soll übrigens in einem frühen Abschnitt des nächsten Jahres erscheinen. Hier ein Statement der Band zur neuen Single.

Als ich ein Kind war, konnte man anhand der Hauptdarsteller leicht erkennen, ob ein Film gut sein würde. Wenn Sylvester Stallone oder Kurt Russell auftraten, wusste man ziemlich sicher, dass es eineinhalb Stunden lang unterhaltsame 80er-Jahre-Action geben würde. Wenn man beide in einen Film steckt, dann verdoppelt sich der Spaß, nicht wahr? Und wenn man dann noch die umwerfende Teri Hatcher hinzufügt, erhält man „Tango & Cash“ von 1989 Hier sind einige meiner Lieblingsszenen aus diesem Film zur Melodie unserer neuesten Single.

DANKO JONES

ist ebenfalls ein bekannter Prediger des Rock ’n‘ Roll. Seine neuste Single heißt „Get High?“ und ist einfach ein megalustiger Song, der mit einem dementsprechenden geilen Video visuell umgesetzt wurde. DANKO JONES “ (Facebook) hatte sichtlich Spaß an diesem Video und diesen werdet ihr auch haben. Da bin ich mir sicher! Der Song stammt übrigens aus dem neuen Album „Electric Sounds“, auf dem ihr noch mehr super Rocksongs finden werdet, die euch mit guter Laune versorgen werden.

THE SOUTHERN RIVER BAND

haben sich den Ruf als einer der besten Live-Acts Australiens erspielt. Ihr zweites Album „Rumour & Innuendo“ wurde im Jahr 2019 veröffentlicht, das von Fans und Kritikern gleichermaßen begeistert aufgenommen wurde. Nun gibt es die neue Single „Stan Qualen“. Und wer sich die Mucke anhört und dabei die Jungs im Video reinzieht, der wird sich folgendes sagen: „Geile Scheisse! Die Kerle sind der Hammer! Ich brauche ne Kiste Bier und meine Luftgitarre! Und außerdem will ich diese Hammertruppe live sehen!“

„Stan Qualen“ ist ein überirdischer old-school Rock ’n‘ Roll Song, der dich bis zum Anschlag mit Endorphinen vollpumpt. Der Song ist der Hammer! Mehr gibt’s nicht zu sagen! Zieht euch THE SOUTHERN RIVER BAND (Facebook) rein und werdet glücklich!

THE STRAY PURSUIT

sind eine junge Band aus England kommen mit einem ganz lockeren eingängigen und zugleich energischen Song daher. „Mama“ heißt er und ist ein schöner klassischer kurzweiliger Rock ’n‘ Roller, der einfach durch seine direkte herzliche unbeschwerte rockige Art begeistert. Schenkt THE STRAY PURSUIT (Facebook) mal drei Minuten eurer Zeit. Ihr werdet es sicherlich nicht bereuen! Der Song wird die aufgeheizte Stimmung aus den vorigen Songs nicht schmälern, sondern weiter anheizen. „Mama“ ist für jede Rock-Party ein Gewinn!

BIG IRON

aus Schottland hatten wir euch vor kurzem bereits mit ihrer neuen EP „It Gets Bigger“ vorgestellt (Review). Nun ist ganz frisch die neue Single „The Mask“ veröffentlicht worden. Und wie bereits im Review beschrieben, ist auch „The Mask“ ein astreiner Hardrock Song, der bestens zu unterhalten weiß. Ohnehin verbreiten BIG IRON (Facebook) mit ihrer humorigen Art sehr viel Spaß!

Crazy Lixx

are a Swedish rock band and can already look back on a long career and discography. Currently they have released the single „Whiskey Tango Foxtrot“. A wonderful catchy genuine 80’s rock song, which is also illustrated with video snippets of the cult film „Tango & Cash“. When I was a kid, it was easy to tell if a movie was going to be good based on the lead actors. If Sylvester Stallone or Kurt Russell appeared, you pretty much knew there was going to be an hour and a half of entertaining ’80s action. Put them both in one movie and the fun doubles, right? THE STRAY PURSUIT

are a young band from England come up with a very casual catchy and at the same time energetic song. It’s called „Mama“ and it’s a classic high entertaining rock ’n‘ roller, which simply inspires with its direct hearty carefree rocky vein. Give THE STRAY PURSUIT (Facebook) three minutes of your time. You will certainly not regret it! The song will not diminish the heated mood from the previous songs, but will heat it up further. „Mama“ is an asset to any rock party!

BIG IRON

from Scotland we had already introduced to you recently with their new EP „It Gets Bigger“ (Review). Now the new single „The Mask“ has just been released. And as already described in the review, „The Mask“ is also a straight hard rock song that knows how to entertain. Anyway, BIG IRON (Facebook) spreads a lot of fun with their crazy show!

AVALANCHE EFFECT

Die Münsteraner Metalcore Band Avalanche Effect (Facebook) haben mit „Afterlife“ ihren bisher härtesten Song veröffentlicht und präsentieren diesen mit einem echt starken Video. Das schreit natürlich geradezu nach einer Vorstellung bei ‚HÖRET & SEHET‘. Cyberpunk-Synthies und harte Riffs vollziehen eine gekonnte Symbiose. Dabei wird es gesanglich sehr vielfältig, denn neben extremen aggressiven Vocals gesellen sich noch coole Rap-Parts dazu und garniert wird das Ganze dann mit einem catchigen melodischen Refrain. Inmitten dieser futuristischen dystopischen Cyberpunk-Welt, in der die Grenzen von Menschlichen und Virtuellen verschwimmen, wächst der Wunsch nach Veränderung und entsteht der Gedanke der Revolution.

BJØRKØ

Tomi Koivusaari als kreativer Kopf beim den finnischen Metal-Ikonen Amorphis hat sich lange einem Soloprojekt gewidmet. Dieses hat er BJØRKØ (Facebook) getauft und am 01. Dezember wird das Album „Heartrot“ über Svart Records veröffentlicht. 15 lange Jahre hat er sich mit der Entstehung seines Debüts beschäftigt.

Es ist eine Sammlung von verschiedenen Liedern und Standpunkten. Ich wollte nicht, dass ein traditioneller Ansatz meinen künstlerischen Ausdruck einschränkt. „Heartrot“ ist wie ein Soundtrack zu einem imaginären Film, der mit einer starken visuellen Verbindung zur Natur und einem allgegewärtigen Gefühl der Melancholie ausgestattet ist.

So ganz solo hat er es dann aber doch nicht verwirklicht. Hochkarätige Unterstützung durch folgende Musiker: Waltteri Väyrynen (Opeth, ex-Paradise Lost), Lauri Porra (Stratovarius) und Janne Lounatvuori (Hidria Spacefolk).

„Heartrot“ ist exklusiv bei Svart Records auf transparentem grünem Vinyl, limitiertem transparentem blauem Vinyl, schwarzem Vinyl und als CD erhältlich. Erscheinungsdatum ist der 01. Dezember.

Die erste Single „The Heartroot“ ist schon mal der Hammer und intensiviert die Vorfreude auf das kommende Album. Der Song reist durch dunkle Abgründe und hat zu Beginn einen echt coolen Drive. Finstere Vocals werden ebenfalls rhythmisch geschmettert und der Chorus kommt fett rüber. Zwischendurch wird die Rhythmik durch eine wilde Blastbeatattacke aufgebrochen. Dann fällt der Song in doomige Abgründe, die eine tiefe Atmosphäre erschaffen. Es ist wirklich viel drin in diesem Song, der keinen starren Konventionen folgt. Eigenwillig, aber sehr gelungen!

INSURRECTION

aus den Niederlanden beweisen eine Menge Humor. In ihrem neuen Video zur Single „Crimson Skies“ gibt es knallharten Chicken-Metal. Die Hühner geben Vollgas und hauen einen geilen hochmelodischen Thrasher raus, der richtig gut abgeht. INSURRECTION (Facebook) rocken eine verdammt wilde Mischung, die es in sich hat. Bin sehr neugierig, was die junge Truppe in Zukunft für uns bereit halten wird. Mehr kann ich Euch leider noch nicht über die Band berichten. Aber das wird sich bestimmt noch ändern. Wir bleiben dran! So ein Video habt ihr jedenfalls noch nicht gesehen!

AVALANCHE EFFECT

The German metalcore band AVALANCHE EFFECT (Facebook) has released a rousing song called „Afterlife“ and presented it with a really awesome video. With their third new single, AVALANCHE EFFECT present their heaviest song so far. Cyberpunk synths and hard riffs perform a skillful symbiosis. Vocally it becomes aggressive, whereby still cool rap parts find entrance. It is then garnished with a catchy melodic chorus. In the midst of this futuristic dystopian cyberpunk world, in which the boundaries of human and virtual blur, the desire for change grows and the thought of revolution arises. 

With its dark and dystopian atmosphere, ‚Afterlife‘ immediately transports listeners to another world and makes them think: How far am I willing to go for a certain thing?

BJØRKØ

Tomi Koivusaari as the creative head of the Finnish metal icons Amorphis has dedicated himself to a solo project for a long time. This he has called BJØRKØ (Facebook) and on December 01 the album „Heartrot“ will be released via Svart Records. 15 long years he has spent on the creation of his debut.

It is a collection of different songs and points of view. I didn’t want a traditional approach to limit my artistic expression. „Heartrot“ is like a soundtrack to an imaginary film, with a strong visual connection to nature and an all-pervasive sense of melancholy.

The first single „The Heartroot“ is already the hammer and intensifies the anticipation of the upcoming album. The song travels through dark abysses and has a really cool drive at the beginning. Sinister vocals are also rhythmically belted and the chorus comes across fat. In between, the rhythm is broken up by a wild blast beat attack. Then the song falls into doomy abysses that create a deep atmosphere. There is really a lot stuff in this song, which follows no rigid conventions. Unconventional, but very successful!

INSURRECTION

from the Netherlands prove a lot of humor. In their new video for the single „Crimson Skies“ there is hardcore chicken metal. The chickens give full throttle and whip out a horny highly melodic Thrasher, which goes really well. INSURRECTION (Facebook) rock a damn wild mix that has it all. I’m very curious what the young troupe will have in store for us in the future. Unfortunately I can’t tell you more yet. But that will change for sure. We stay tuned!

In der letzten Ausgabe von HÖRET & SEHET ging es um den Extreme Metal mit Schwerpunkt Deathcore. Nun haben wir ganz wieder ganz unterschiedliche Genres parat. Jede der hier heute vorgestellten Bands habe ich schon länger auf dem Schirm. Und die erste Band

KAUNIS KUOLEMATON

hatten es mit „Syttyköön Toinen Aurinko“ im Jahre 2020 geschafft mein persönliches Album des Jahres zu werden. Darauf hatten sie einen einzigartigen Sound erschaffen (Review). Er hatte mich über die gesamte Albumdistanz fasziniert und auch nach drei Jahren hat dieses Album nichts von seiner Faszination verloren. Deswegen freue ich mich wahnsinnig darüber, dass KAUNIS KUOLEMATON (Facebook) endlich das neue Album „Mielenvalta“ am 13. Oktober über das Label Noble Demon veröffentlichen werden.

Mit der ersten Single „Peilikuva“ bleiben sie sprachlich ihrem Stil treu und präsentieren ihre Musik in ihrer finnischen Heimatsprache. Und auch wenn ich davon kein Wort verstehe, hat der Klang dieser Sprache diese geheimnisvolle Aura, die mich einfängt. Die Single überrascht mit einem sehr ruhigen klaren Beginn und mit einem hochemotionalen Gesang. Sänger Mikko Heikkilä bietet eine wundervolle Vorstellung und man kann jedes Wort fühlen und nachempfinden. Der Song steigert sich langsam aber sicher, doch es dauert, bis es zu einer dunklen massiven Explosion kommt, die einen mit ihrer Vehemenz förmlich umhaut. Düster Growls von Olli Suvanto erhalten Einzug und als ob das nicht genug wäre, erklingen im weiteren Verlauf kontrastierend bzw. eskalierend noch fiese hohe Screams. Wahrlich eine Vereinigung von emotionalen Extremen in einem Song. Eine unglaublich intensive Vorstellung.

Kommentar der Band

Peilikuva („Spiegelung“) erzählt von den Herausforderungen, die das Leben mit sich bringt. Man weiß nicht immer, ob die Entscheidungen richtig oder falsch sind, und oft kann das Leben sehr schwer zu bewältigen sein. Doch wie auch immer die Entscheidungen ausfallen, wie auch immer das Leben sich gestaltet, man sieht sich selbst im Spiegel. Genau der, der dein eigenes Leben aufgebaut hat, und das bist DU.

Mit der Ruhe, der Aggressivität, den Melodien und den Tempowechseln des Songs kannst du in deine eigenen Gedankenwelten reisen und sehen, wie dein Leben bis jetzt verlaufen ist. Nun, was soll ich sagen. Mit dem Album „Transience“ aus dem Jahre 2018 hat mich diese Band gefangen. Allein der Titelsong ist eine Offenbarung. Keine Ahnung wie oft ich diesen Song alleine in Endlosschleife gehört habe. Man hat mich nun viel zu lange schmoren lassen, doch endlich hat das Warten ein Enden. Multinstrumentalist Nimblkorg steht hinter SHYLMAGOGHNAR (Facebook) und er präsentiert nun die erste Single seines kommenden Albums „Convergence“ (VÖ 10. November). Die neue Single heißt „Follow The River“ und sie setzt die spektakuläre Reise fort.

Liebe Hörer, Freunde, Familie,
endlich kann ich das Schweigen über das kommende 3. Album von Shylmagoghnar, CONVERGENCE, brechen.
Auf einer Reise des Todes erwacht der Protagonist in einer surrealen Welt. Sind die Dinge, die er sieht, real, oder nur die Machenschaften eines sterbenden Gehirns? Das spielt jetzt keine Rolle mehr. Alles, was er weiß, ist, dass er dem Fluss folgen muss.

„Follow The River“ suggeriert unverkennbar die typischen Merkmale von SHYLMAGOGHNAR. Es ist hart, aber unendlich melodisch und episch zugleich. Man kann es kaum beschreiben, sondern man muss es hören. Man spürt und hört den Hang zur Perfektion. Der Song ist super ausgearbeitet und es eröffnen sich bezaubernde und komplexe Klangwelten. Also was sind schon fast neuen Minuten Spielzeit, wenn sie so überwältigend dargeboten werden?! Einfach ein episches Abenteuer!

DUST BOLT

DUST BOLT (Facebook) sind eine Institution im deutschen Metal. Seit 2007 beehren sie uns mit ihren musikalischen Ergüssen. Jüngst haben sie einen Deal beim bekannten großen Label AFM Records klar gemacht. Auf das neue Album „Sound & Fury“ werden wir allerdings noch ein wenig warten müssen, denn dies ist erst für den 23. Februar 2024 geplant.

Überraschend, aber konsequent

„Sound and Fury“ ist modern ausgefallen und kommt relativ ruhig, melancholisch und gefühlvoll daher, wartet dafür mit tollen Melodien auf. Im weiteren Verlauf drehen DUST BOLT aber kurz ordentlich am Härtegrad. So ist ein echt cooler Song entstanden. Mir gefällt der Song mit seiner Ausstrahlung. Hätte ich aber so in der Form nicht von der Band erwartet. Die Band selber scheinbar auch nicht, wie ich später in einem Kommentar lesen konnte.

„Sound and Fury“ entstand während der wohl dunkelsten und schwierigsten Zeit für die Band. Das erste Mal in unserem Leben, seit wir Kinder waren, waren wir irgendwie voneinander getrennt und der Traum, den wir zusammen gelebt haben, schien aufzuhören. Es war während der Pandemie-Tage, als die Band sogar beschloss, eine Pause voneinander zu nehmen, als Flo mit diesem wunderschönen Stück Musik aufkam – nicht wissend, wie er unsere Gefühle kanalisieren und ausdrücken würde, was dazu führte, dass LB einige ungewöhnliche, aber herzliche Vocals von DUST BOLT darauf legte und Nico am Ende einen Disco-Beat in einen Metal-Song einbrachte.

Wir wussten nicht, was passieren würde – wir haben es einfach gemacht. Wir wussten, dass es eine Million Stimmen geben würde, die sagen, dass wir das nicht auf eine DUST BOLT-Platte packen können. Aber mehr als das wussten wir: „Solange wir zusammenhalten, können wir alles machen, was wir wollen.“ Sound and Fury ist eine Geschichte über Freundschaft, Kampf und innere Zerrissenheit. SuF ist eine Geschichte über uns. SuF ist ein anderer, offener und ehrlicher DUST BOLT, der seine Gefühle mit dir und deinen Freunden teilt.““

Das obige Statement kann ich nur unterschreiben. Musik ist auch Ausdruck persönlicher Situationen und Erlebnisse. Warum also nicht mal etwas unerwartetes anderes machen, wenn man sich gerade so fühlt? Für mich ist das immer ein Qualitätsmerkmal in Sachen Kreativität und Persönlichkeit, was ich in der Musik sehr schätze.

Die erste Single „I Wittness“ bietet dagegen wieder die klassisch harte Kost und es gibt straight und hart vor den Latz. Da kann man sich wieder genüßlich den Nacken trainieren. Haut rein!

The last issue of HEAR & SEE was about Extreme Metal with a focus on Deathcore. Now we have quite different genres ready again. Each of the bands presented here today has been on my radar for a while. And the first band

KAUNIS KUOLEMATON

had even managed to create my personal album of the year with „Syttyköön Toinen Aurinko“ in 2020. On it they had created a unique sound (review). It had fascinated me over the entire album distance and even after three years this album has lost nothing of its fascination. That’s why I’m so happy that KAUNIS KUOLEMATON (Facebook) will finally release the new album „Mielenvalta“ on October 13 via the label Noble Demon.

With the first single „Peilikuva“ they stay linguistically true to their style and present their music in their native Finnish language. And even if I don’t understand a word of it, the sound of this language has this mysterious aura that catches me. The single surprises with a very calm clear beginning and with highly emotional vocals by singer Mikko Heikkilä. He gives a wonderful performance and you can feel and relate to every word. The song slowly but surely builds up, but it takes time for a dark massive explosion that literally blows you away with its vehemence. Gloomy growls of Olli Suvanto get in and as if that were not enough, in the further course contrasting or escalating still nasty high screams sound. Truly a union of emotional extremes in one song. An incredibly intense performance.

KAUNIS KUOLEMATON on „Peilikuva“:

Well, what can I say. The album „Transience“ from 2018 has caught me. The title track alone is a revelation. No idea how many times I have heard this song alone in endless loop. I have been left to stew for far too long now, but finally the wait has an end. Multi-instrumentalist Nimblkorg is behind SHYLMAGOGHNAR (Facebook) and he now presents the first single from his upcoming album „Convergence“ (Release 10 November). The new single is called „Follow The River“ and it continues the spectacular journey.

„Follow The River“ unmistakably suggests the typical characteristics of SHYLMAGOGHNAR. It’s hard, but infinitely melodic and epic at the same time. You can hardly describe it, but you have to hear it. You can feel and hear the tendency to perfection. The song is super elaborated and enchanting and complex sound worlds open up. So what are almost new minutes of playing time, if they are presented so overwhelmingly?! An epic adventure!

DUST BOLT

DUST BOLT (Facebook) are an institution in German metal. Since 2007 they honor us with their musical effusions. Recently they made a deal with the well-known big label AFM Records. However, we will have to wait a little longer for the new album „Sound & Fury“, which is scheduled for February 23, 2024.

Surprising, but resolute

„Sound and Fury“ is modern and comes along relatively quiet, melancholic and soulful, but offers great melodies. In the further course DUST BOLT but briefly turn neatly on the degree of hardness. Sound and Fury was created during the probably darkest and most difficult time for the band. First time in our lives, since we were kids, we were somehow separated from another and the dream we lived together seemed to stopped. It was during the pandemic days, when the band even decided to take a break from one another, when Flo came up with this beautiful piece of music – not knowing how he would channel and express our feelings, leading to LB putting some Dust Bolt unusual, but heartfelt vocals on it and having Nico introducing a disco beat to a metal song in the end.  

We didn’t know what was happening – we just did it.  We did know, there’d be a million voices saying we can’t put this up on a Dust Bolt record. But more than that we knew „as long as we stick together, we can do anything the *** we want“ . Sound and Fury is a story about friendship, struggle & inner turmoil. SuF is a story about us. SuF is a different, open and honest Dust Bolt, sharing their emotion with you and your friends.

I can only subscribe to the above statement. Music is also an expression of personal situations and experiences. So why not do something unexpectedly different when you just feel that way? For me, this is always a quality feature in terms of creativity and personality, which I appreciate very much in music.

The first single „I Wittness“, on the other hand, offers the classic hard fare again and it blows straight in your face. A real banger!

GENUS ORDINIS DEI

kommen aus Milan in Spanien und existieren bereits seit 2009. Sie spielen eine Mischung aus Heavy Metal und Death Metal. „The Beginning“ wird das vierte Album heißen, dass am 08. Dezember über Eclipse Records veröffentlicht wird. Aktuell gibt es dier erste Single „Changing Star“, die mit einem krassen Video visuell umgesetzt wurde. Dabei geht es zwischendurch echt hart zu und ist nix für zarte Gemüter. Dasselbe trifft auch auf den Song zu, der zwischen melodisch Passagen mit cleanem Gesang und harten Ausbrüchen alterniert. Klingt jetzt erst einmal nicht neu, aber die Art und Weise der Darbietung ist dann doch wirklich extravagant und geht sogar leicht ins progressive. Ein Song der besonderen Art! Die Band zeigt auf jeden Fall neue Facetten, denn bisher war man deutlich härter unterwegs.

ANGELUS APATRIDA

kommen ebenfalls aus Spanien. Die Band spielt nichts extravagantes, sondern klassischen Thrash Metal. Aber dies machen ANGELUS APATRIDA (Facebook) so hervorragend, dass sie sich eine große Anhängerschar erspielt haben. Man sehr gespannt sein darf, was auf dem kommenden Album „Aftermath“ so alles zu hören sein wird. Es wird am 20. Oktober über Century Media erscheinen.

Die erste Single „Cold“ hat es jedenfalls in sich und begeistert sowohl mit nach vorne preschender Power als auch einem melodischen Chorus zum niederknien. Das macht richtig was her. Dies ist ein Song, den man sich oft hintereinander anhören kann ohne dessen überdrüssig zu werden. Ein echter Knaller! Der sechsminütige Song hat so viele geile Vibes, die süchtig machen. Superstarke Riffs, furioses Drumming, genialer Gesang und ein abwechslungsreicher Verlauf führen diesen Song zu einem perfekten Auftritt.

SACRIFIRE

haben ihre Heimat in Deutschland und sind kaum in ein bestimmtes Genre zu stecken. Hier gibt es eine außergewöhnliche Mischung aus Doom, Death und Gothik. Die höchst dunkle Erscheinung SACRIFIRE (Facebook) überzeugt mit der Single „Juggernaut“ auf ganzer Linie. So eine Mischung habe ich noch nie gehört und ich muss zugeben, dass ich sehr fasziniert und gefesselt davon bin. Es zeigt mir, dass es Bands immer noch schaffen interessante Sounds zu generieren. „Juggernaut“ hat ganz viele klassische Gothik Vibes. Vor allem dann, wenn Sänger Dirk Weiss seine warme dunkle Stimme hervorholt. Atmossphäre ohne Ende! Aber auch in seiner extremeren Sangeskunst kann Dirk völlig überzeugen. Instrumental agiert man von dunkelzart bis wuchtig schwarz und bietet die perfekte Bühne für den variablen Sänger Dirk.

GENUS ORDINIS DEI

come from Milan in Spain and exist already since 2009. Currently there is the first single „Changing Star“, which was visually implemented with a really cool video. In between it is damn hard and is not for the faint-hearted. The same applies to the song, which alternates between melodic passages with clean vocals and hard outbreaks. Sounds not new, but the way of performance is really extravagant and even goes slightly into the progressive direction. A song of a special kind!

GENUS ORDINIS DEI (Facebook) show new facets in any case, because in the past they were much harder. Anyway, „Changing Star“ is a very interesting performance you should not miss.

ANGELUS APATRIDA

also come from Spain. The band doesn’t play anything extravagant, but classic Thrash Metal. But they do this so excellently that they have earned themselves a large following. You can be very curious what will be on the upcoming album „Aftermath“. It will be released on October 20th via Century Media.

The first single „Cold“ is a killer and inspires both with forward-blasting power and a melodic chorus to kneel down. This is a song that you can listen to many times in a row without getting tired of it. A real banger from ANGELUS APATRIDA (Facebook)! The six minute song has so many awesome vibes that are addictive. Super strong riffs, furious drumming, brilliant vocals and a varied progression lead this song to a perfect performance.

SACRIFIRE

have their home in Germany and can hardly be put into a certain genre. Here is an extraordinary mixture of Doom, Death and Gothic. The highly dark appearance SACRIFIRE (Facebook) convinces with the single „Juggernaut“ all along the line. I have never heard such a mixture and I must admit that I am very fascinated and captivated by it. It shows me that bands still manage to generate interesting sounds. „Juggernaut“ has quite a lot of classic gothic vibes. Especially when singer Dirk Weiss brings out his warm dark voice. Deep atmosphere! But also in his more extreme vocal art Dirk can completely convince. Instrumentally they act from dark delicate to massive black and offer the perfect stage for the variable singer Dirk.

Willkommen zu einer neuen Ausgabe von HÖRET & SEHET! Ich möchte Euch heute wieder einmal gesondert einzelne Bands und Singles vorstellen, die in meiner Playlist ‚METALHEADs new stuff‘ (YouTube/Spotify) vertreten sind. Heute habe ich ganz verschiedene Stilrichtungen im Angebot. Viel Spaß damit!

NEVER OBEY AGAIN

hatte ich hier bei ‚metal-heads.de‘ schon mal vorgestellt. Nachdem ich die ersten Singles gehört hatte, habe ich prophezeit, dass diese Band ein echter Hit wird. NEVER OBEY AGAIN (Facebook) zelebrieren modernen Metal, der mit Power und Groove agiert, aber auch mit viel Gefühl und eingängigen Melodien in Richtung Pop ausschlägt. Jedenfalls ensteht eine mitreißende unterhaltsame Mischung.

Sie sind sich auch nicht zu schade für tolle Ideen, um ihre Musik unters Volk zu bringen. Als Straßenmusiker waren sie unterwegs und haben ihre Songs unplugged den Menschen vorgespielt. Und dabei konnte man sich auch davon überzeugen, dass es wirklich tolle Musiker sind und Carolina auch ganz ohne Technik eine verdammt gute Sängerin ist. Sie ist eine charismatische Bombe und begeistert mit ihrer Darbietung. Sie besitzt eine starke Präsenz und hat in den Videos schon viele Seiten von sich gezeigt und lebt die Songs mit jeder Faser.

In dem neuen Video „Toxic Feelings“ zeigt sie eine ganz verrückte Seite von sich. Man kann ihr tatsächlich ein gutes schauspielerisches Talent zugestehen, denn in diesem Video erinnert sie stark an die verrückte Figur Harley Quinn aus den DC-Kinofilmen. Der Song fügt sich nahtlos in dem bisherigen Soundkonzept ein. Viel groovige Power paart sich mit viel eingängiger Melodie und geboren wird ein starker Song, der Euch mir nicht dir nichts mitreißt. Wieder einmal ein echt starker Auftritt! Freut Euch also auf das neue Album „The End Of An Era“ am 22. September, welches über Scarlet Records veröffentlicht wird.

FIERCE DEITY

als Solokünstler aus Australien hat mich mit seiner Musik ebenfalls vollkommen begeistert und war daher schon einige Male bei ‚metal-heads.de‘ zu Gast. Nun bewegen wir uns in einer ganz anderen Musikrichtung. Er selber bezeichnet seine Musik als Stoner-Power-Metal. Und diese Bezeichnung ist gar nicht so unpassend. Das letzte Album von FIERCE DEITY (Facebook/Bandcamp) hieß „Power!Wisdom!Courage“ (Review). Die Songs hatten für mich eine ganz eigene Handschrift und waren von vorne bis hinten höchstspannende Kompositionen.

Nun gibt es ein neues Lebenszeichen! Die neue Single „LEViARACH“ ist seit kurzem auf den Streaming Plattformen erschienen. Unter anderem auch auf BANDCAMP, die ich als Plattform sehr schätze. Denn dort hat man die Möglichkeit seine Bands direkt zu unterstützen! Nun aber zurück zur Single „LEViARACH“, die als erstes Lebenszeichen für das kommende Album „Power!Wisdom!Courage! Part 2: A Terrible Fate“ in Erscheinung tritt.

Der Song ist wieder typisch FIERCE DEITY. Der Song eröffnet wie ein Kinoblockbuster und dann hauen ein diese geilen Riffs einfach um. Ich bin schon wieder direkt im FIERCE DEITY-Fieber. Jonathon versteht es einfach Songs ansprechendzu arrangieren. Es wird nie langweilig, wenn diese überlangen Songs ihren Weg gehen. Hier werden auch wieder einmal so einige Queen-Feelings produziert. Und den Songs wohnt zu jeder Zeit immer eine epische Komponente inne.

TWISTED ROSE

sind eine Rock ’n‘ Roll Band aus Deutschland. An vorderster Front von TWISTED ROSE (Facebook) steht und bezaubert die charmante, stimmgewaltige Sängerin Caro, neben Chris Bones an der Gitarre, Bassist Tino und Schlagzeuger Luggy. Sie haben sich dem klassischen Rock Sound (á la AC/DC und Guns N‘ Roses) verschrieben und sind nun bereit die Rockwelt mit ihren eigenen Kompositionen zu erobern.

Ich kannte sie bisher noch nicht, was echt schade ist. Denn die neue Single „Greed For Speed“ ist ein echter Burner! Schnörkelloser nach vorne treibender Rock ’n‘ Roll, wie man sich ihn wünscht. Das Rock ’n‘ Roll Feuer brennt und breitet sich aus. Ich steh in Flammen und brauch erst mal nen Bier zum löschen, nur um dann wieder Feuer zu fangen. Ein Teufelskreis, aus dem man gar nicht mehr ausbrechen möchte! Long live Rock ’n‘ Roll!

Und im September kommt das Album „Cherry Tales“ raus! Da bin ich mal richtig heiß drauf!

BLESSED HELLRIDE

sind ebenfalls aus Deutschland und spielen eine Mischung aus Southern Rock und Heavy Metal. Und das rockt! Ein Höhepunkt in der Geschichte von BLESSED HELLRIDE (Facebook) war ihre Show auf dem renommierten Wacken Open Air im Jahr 2018. Blessed Hellride begeisterte das Publikum mit ihrer energiegeladenen Live-Performance und bewies, dass sie auch auf großen Bühnen zu Hause sind.

Nach der obigen Singlevorstellung von Twisted Rose sind BLESSED HELLRIDE die richtige Fortsetzung, um gar nicht erst müde zu werden. Der Härtegrad bei der Single „Barfight Rodeo“ schlägt weiter nach oben aus und ab geht die Show. Ebenfalls ein Song, der einem klaren Weg folgt. Nämlich stur nach vorne und das auf hartem Terrain. Sehr geil finde ich die auch das Solo in dem Song.

VICIOUS RAIN

sind in der Schweiz beheimatet und haben sich ganz frisch Ende 2022 gegründet. Mit ihrem Metalcore springen wir auf die nächste Härtestufe. VICIOUS RAIN (Facebook) lassen es mit ihrer Single „Blackout“ heftig krachen. Ein brachialer Song, der für mächtig Nackentraining sorgt. Mir gefallen die verschiedenen Stimmungen im Song. Zum einen haben wir im grundsätzlich brutalen stampfenden Sound geile Tempobeschleunigungen, aber auch tolle Melodien im Chorus. Jeder Metalcore-Fan sollte mit dieser Single glücklich sein.

„Blackout“ kanalisiert die rohe Frustration, wenn man mit ansehen muss, wie jemand, den man liebt, stagniert und sich nicht zum Besseren verändern kann. Es ist eine ergreifende Reflexion über die verletzende Realität des Festhaltens an Erinnerungen daran, wie die Dinge einmal waren, während man erkennt, dass toxische Muster den eigenen Geist vergiften können. Dieser Song ist ein emotionaler Aufschrei, der den Hörer dazu auffordert, die Kraft zu finden, loszulassen und sein eigenes Wohlbefinden in den Vordergrund zu stellen“.

Welcome to a new edition of HEAR & SEE! I would like to present you today once again separately individual bands and singles that are represented in my playlist ‚METALHEADs new stuff‘. Today I have quite different styles on offer. Have fun with it!

NEVER OBEY AGAIN

I had already introduced here at ‚metal-heads.de‘. After listening to the first singles, I predicted that this band will be a real hit. NEVER OBEY AGAIN (Facebook) celebrate modern metal, which acts with power and groove, but also with a lot of feeling and catchy melodies in the direction of pop. In any case, a rousing entertaining mixture is created.

They are also not too shy for great ideas to bring their music among the people. As street musicians they were on the road and played their songs unplugged to the people. And in doing so, you could also convince yourself that they are really great musicians and that Carolina is a damn good singer even without any technology. She is a charismatic bomb and inspires with her performance. She has a strong presence and has already shown many sides of herself in the videos and lives the songs with every fiber.

In the new video „Toxic Feelings“ she shows a very crazy side of herself. You can actually give her a good acting talent, because it in this video Carolina strongly reminds of the crazy character Harley Quinn from the DC movies. The song fits seamlessly into the previous sound concept. A lot of groovy power is paired with a lot of catchy melody and born is a strong song that will sweep you away. Once again a really strong performance! So look forward to the new album „The End Of An Era“ on September 22, which will be released via Scarlet Records.

FIERCE DEITY

as a solo artist from Australia has also completely inspired me with his music and has therefore already been a guest at ‚metal-heads.de‘ a few times. He himself calls his music Stoner-Power-Metal. And this designation is not so inappropriate. The last album from FIERCE DEITY (Facebook/Bandcamp) was called „Power!Wisdom!Courage“ (Review). The songs had for me a very own signature and were from front to back highly exciting compositions.

Now there is a new sign of life! The new single „LEViARACH“ has recently been released on the streaming platforms. Among other things, also on BANDCAMP, which I appreciate very much as a platform. Because there you have the possibility to support your bands directly! But now back to the single „LEViARACH“, which is the first sign of life for the upcoming album „Power!Wisdom!Courage! Part 2: A Terrible Fate“.

The song is again typical FIERCE DEITY. The song opens like a movie blockbuster and then these awesome riffs just blow me away. I’m right back in FIERCE DEITY fever. Jonathon just knows how to arrange songs in an exciting way. It never gets boring when these overlong songs go their way. Once again some Queen feelings are produced here. And the songs always have an epic component.

TWISTED ROSE

are a rock ’n‘ roll band from Germany. At the forefront of TWISTED ROSE (Facebook) stands and charms the charming, strong-voiced singer Caro, alongside Chris Bones on guitar, bassist Tino and drummer Luggy. They have dedicated themselves to the classic rock sound (á la AC/DC and Guns N‘ Roses) and are now ready to conquer the rock world with their own compositions.

I didn’t know them until now, which is a real pity. Because the new single „Greed For Speed“ is a real burner! Straightforward forward kick ass driving Rock ’n‘ Roll. The Rock ’n‘ Roll fire burns! I’m on fire and need a beer to extinguish it, only to catch fire again. A vicious circle that you don’t want to break out of! Long live Rock ’n‘ Roll!

And in September the album „Cherry Tales“ will be released! I’m really hot for it!

BLESSED HELLRIDE

A highlight in the history of BLESSED HELLRIDE (Facebook) was their show at the renowned Wacken Open Air in 2018. Blessed Hellride thrilled the audience with their energetic live performance and proved that they are also at home on big stages.

After the above single performance BLESSED HELLRIDE are the right continuation to not get tired at all. They released their new single „Barfight Rodeo“. The degree of hardness strikes further upwards and off goes the show. Also a song that follows a clear path, namely stubbornly forward and that on hard terrain. Very cool I find the solo in the song.

VICIOUS RAIN

are based in Switzerland and have formed quite freshly at the end of 2022. With their Metalcore we jump to the next level of hardness. VICIOUS RAIN (Facebook) let it rip with their single „Blackout“. A brute song that provides a powerful neck workout. I like the different moods in the song. On the one hand, we have awesome tempo accelerations in the basically brutal stomping sound, but also great melodies in the chorus. Every metalcore fan should be happy with this single.

Blackout channels the raw frustration of witnessing someone you love remain stagnant, unable to change for the better. It‘s a poignant reflection on the hurtful reality of holding onto memories of how things used to be while recognizing that toxic patterns can poison their own mind. This song is an emotional outcry, urging listeners to find the strength to let go and prioritize their own well-being.

Heute wollen wir Euch mal wieder gesondert Bands und Singles in unserer Serie HÖRET & SEHET vorstellen. Diese Singles findet Ihr alle natürlich auch in unserer Playlist „METALHEADs new stuff“ (SPOTIFY/YOUTUBE). Alle drei heutigen Singles stammen aus völlig unterschiedlichen musikalischen Bereichen.

RESOLVE

aus Frankreich haben ihre Reise 2016 begonnen. Das Quartett RESOLVE (Facebook) wird am 15 .September ihr Album „Human“ herausbringen.

Wir vier von RESOLVE sind langsam alt genug, um mit eigenen Augen zu sehen, wie wir uns als Spezies dem Ende einer Ära nähern. Anfang dieses Monats wurde der Rekord für die höchste jemals gemessene globale Temperatur wieder einmal gebrochen. Es wird immer deutlicher, dass wir den Punkt, an dem es kein Zurück mehr gibt, längst überschritten haben, und wie Anthony im Refrain singt: Wenn es für die Rettung unserer Seelen zu spät ist, scheitern wir lieber gemeinsam als allein zu triumphieren. Keiner von uns wird es allein in dieser Welt schaffen. „New Colors“ ist unser Aufruf zur Einigkeit.

Aktuell gibt es mit „Heart Of The Numb“ die dritte Singleauskopplung. Und hier gibt kein Geringerer als Matt Heafy (TRIVIUM) ein gesangliches Gastspiel und veredelt diesen tollen Song mit seiner Präsenz. Herausgekommen ist dabei ein perfekter Song mit einem unfassbar geilen Chorus und als Gegenspieler kommen die düsteren Strophen mit ihren massiven Riffs und dunklen Growls. Wahrlich kein neues Konzept, aber absolut fantastisch umgesetzt. Ein episches Meisterwerk! Da werdet Ihr mich sicherlich zustimmen!

GODTHRYMM

sind ein Doom Metal Act aus England, die sich unter anderem aus ehemaligen Mitgliedern von MY DYING BRIDE oder ANATHEMA zusammensetzen. GODTHRYMM (Facebook) werden das Album „Distortions“ am 18. August via Profound Lore Records herausbringen.

Mit dieser Veröffentlichung wollten wir wirklich die verschiedenen Seiten von GODTHRYMM zeigen. Nach der Melancholie von „Echoes“ dachten wir, „Devils“ wäre das perfekte Gegenstück“Es ist ein solider, knallharter Metal-Song, der aber auch ein paar Überraschungen bietet und immer noch diese klassische, schwermütige Doom-DNA hat. Für das Video hatten wir das Gefühl, dass wir die Band richtig vorstellen müssen. Wir haben uns für einen schnörkellosen Ansatz entschieden, ohne Gimmicks oder ausgefallene Grafiken. Nur die Band, in einem Raum, die den Song spielt. Wir sind sehr stolz auf diesen Song und das Video und hoffen, dass es euch auch gefällt.

Und damit hat er keinesfalls untertrieben, denn die neue Single geht härter und schwerer zur Sache. Dabei kommt der Doom Effekt dem Sound aber nie abhanden. Neben der massiven Erscheinung sind die harmonischen Arrangements ein essentieller Bestandteil des Sounds. Aber sehr geil finde ich auch den düsteren Instrumentalpart, der ab Minute 03:39 h ganz cool nur mit dem Bass eingeleitet wird und sich dann in einer vernichtenden Gewaltigkeit entlädt. Dies ist Doom Metal wie er leibt und lebt!

The four of us in Resolve are starting to be old enough to see with our own eyes how we’re coming towards the end of an era as a species. Earlier this month, the record for the highest ever global temperature was once again broken. Currently there is the third single release with „Heart Of The Numb“. And here no less than Matt Heafy (TRIVIUM) gives a vocal guest performance and ennobles this great song with his presence. The result is a perfect song with an incredibly awesome chorus and as a counterpart come the dark verses with their massive riffs and dark growls. Truly not a new concept, but absolutely fantastically implemented. An epic masterpiece! You will certainly agree with me!

With this release we really wanted to show the different sides of Godthrymm. Following on from the melancholy of „Echoes“, we thought „Devils“ would be the perfect counterpart. It’s a solid, bang-your-head, metal tune, but it has a couple of surprises, and still has that classic, mournful, doom DNA too. For the video, we felt we needed to introduce the band properly. We went with a no frills, no gimmicks or fancy graphics approach. Just the band, in a room, playing the song. We’re beyond proud of this song, and the video, and we hope you really dig it too.
