Die Thrasher NUCLEAR (Facebook) aus Chile sind seit Jahren Stammgäste bei ‚metal-heads.de‘. Wir durften diese Band schon diverse Male auch persönlich kennenlernen. Und glaubt uns, wenn wir sagen, dass das total nette Menschen sind. So gnadenlos ihre Musik auch ist, so gnadenlos gut gelaunt und humorvoll sind sie uns jedesmal abseits der Bühne begegnet. Das letzte Album „Murder Of Crows“ kam 2020 auf den Markt. NUCLEAR gingen mit einer wahnsinnigen Wucht und Wildheit zu Werke, wobei der teils deathlastige Thrash dem Hörer alles abverlangte. Nun, nach vier Jahren sind die Südamerikaner keinesfalls ruhiger geworden, denn sie blasen euch nach wie vor so was von die Birne weg. Jedoch drängt sich mir eine Frage auf bei dem neuen Release: Warum hat es nach vier Jahren nur zu einer EP gereicht? Sechs Songs verteilen sich auf eine Spielzeit von 22 Minuten.

Die sechs Songs bestehen aus drei eigenen Kompositionen und drei Cover-Songs. Der Opener „Violent DNA“ ist zugleich der Titeltrack. Der Unterschied zu den Songs auf „Murder Of Crows“ ist wohl der, dass hier Thrash Metal in sehr „klassischer“ Manier geprügelt wird. Volle Attacke mit den bekannten Eigenschaften aus früheren Zeiten.

Gnadenlos old school

NUCLEAR fahren auf der EP eine strikte Linie und orientieren sich am Stil der frühen 90’er Jahre. Das soll aber nicht bedeuten, dass die Mucke irgendwie altbacken klingt. Ich habe diese Zeit als Jugendlicher selber miterlebt und war begeistert von Bands wie Slayer, Napalm Death und allen anderen, die heute noch Kultstatus genießen. NUCLEAR schießen mich mit ihren Songs raketenmäßig zurück in diese Zeit.

Ich schätze die Kompromisslosigkeit in der brutalen Geradlinigkeit der Songs! Dabei vollbringen die Männer Höchstleistungen an den Instrumenten und beackern ihre Instrumente auf höchstem Energielevel beackern. Euch erwartet brutal starker In-Die-Fresse-Thrash, der den Puls durchgehend auf Maximum-Level hochpusht. Davon hätte es gerne noch ein paar mehr Songs geben dürfen, denn wie gesagt endet der Rausch leider schon nach 22 Minuten.

Die Thematik des Albums hat leider einen immerwährenden aktuellen Bezug im Hinblick auf das Paradoxon „Mensch“. Uns ist ein unglaubliches Geschenk zu Teil geworden. Wir dürfen auf dieser wundervollen Erde leben, aber traurigerweise sind wir als Menschheit schon immer ein erbarmungswürdiges Beispiel dafür gewesen, wie man es auf der Welt richtig verkackt.

Die Menschheit hat eine dunkle, gewalttätige und rücksichtslose Seite. Seit unseren Ursprüngen als Spezies sind wir Teil einer grausamen Demonstration, bei der wir uns anderen mit Gewalt aufdrängen. So war es immer und so wird es auch weiterhin sein. Es ist diese Art von Gewalt, die diese neue Veröffentlichung inspiriert. Sie ist unser Kern, unsere Vergangenheit und unsere Zukunft, und wir können nichts tun, um sie zu ändern.

The thrashers NUCLEAR (Facebook) from Chile have been regular guests at ‚metal-heads.de‘ for years. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting the band in person several times. And believe us when we say that they are really nice people. As merciless as their music is, they have always been mercilessly cheerful and humorous off stage. If you use the search function on our homepage, you will find numerous articles about the band.

The last album ‘Murder Of Crows’ was released in 2020. NUCLEAR played with insane power and ferocity. The partly death-heavy thrash demanded everything from the listener. Now, four years later, the South Americans haven’t calmed down at all, because they still blow your brains out. However, the new release raises a question for me: Why is it only an EP after four years? Six songs, spread over a playing time of 22 minutes.

The six songs consist of three original compositions and three cover songs. The opener „Violent DNA“ is also the title track. The difference to the songs on „Murder Of Crows“ is probably the fact that thrash metal is thrashed in a very „classic“ manner here. Full attack with the familiar trademarks from earlier times.

Ruthlessly old school

NUCLEAR follow a strict path on the EP and orientate themselves on the style of the early 90s. But that doesn’t mean that the music sounds old-fashioned. I experienced that time myself as a teenager and was inspired by bands like Slayer, Napalm Death and all the others that still enjoy cult status today. NUCLEAR rocket me back to that time with their songs.

I appreciate the uncompromising violent straightforwardness of the songs! At the same time, the men deliver top performances on their instruments and play them at the highest level of energy. You can expect brutally strong in-your-face thrash that will get your pulse racing to maximum levels. There could have been a few more songs like this. There could have been a few more of these songs, because as I said, the frenzy unfortunately ends after just 22 minutes.

The theme of the album unfortunately has an everlasting topical reference to the paradox of mankind. We have been given an incredible gift. We are allowed to live on this wonderful earth, but sadly we as humanity have always been a pitiful example of how to really fuck things up in the world.

Humanity has a dark, violent and ruthless side. Since our origins as a species, we have been part of a cruel demonstration of imposing ourselves on others through violence. This is how it has always been and how it will continue to be. It is this kind of violence that inspires this new release. It is our core, our past and our future, and there is nothing we can do to change it.
