JELUSICK – „Follow The Blind Man“ Review
Genre: Hard Rock
VÖ: 29.09.2023
Dino Jelusick (Facebook) ist ein hervorragender Sänger. Daran besteht wohl kein Zweifel.
Fazit
english review
Genre: Hard Rock
Release: 29.09.2023
Dino Jelusick (Facebook) is an excellent singer. There is probably no doubt about that. Thus, in 2016 he even became a member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and in 2021 he was welcomed as a singer in Whitesnake.
Now he has released the debut album „Follow The Blind Man“ with his new band JELUSICK (Facebook). In advance, of course, singles were released, which were very well received by fans. I was also very impressed by it and was curious what would expect me on the album.
„Reign Of Vultures“ opens the album very imposingly and is a real beast. The song has an extremely progressive appearance and drives everything you can imagine. Over six minutes a true rock feast is celebrated. The degree of hardness is pleasantly high. Dino shows very impressively what he has on it. But not only he! Also the instrumentalists deliver a great show. Ivan Keller is mentioned here, who delivers a terrific performance. But also the Hammond organ sounds are a real enrichment. Totally cool!
Progressive vein
This is also how the second song „Died“ presents itself. With screeching monstrous riffs and the cool Hammond organ in the background, the song goes offensive and is supported by strong drums. Already with the first two songs it is noticeable that the sound is very substantial. It really goes off and happens something in the ear. The songs rock undoubtedly, but by their progressive structure they are not only made for it and have a lot more to offer. The first three songs let it crash in any case properly, so that a ballad like the title track „Follow The Blind Man“ comes just right to calm the minds a little. But with over six minutes the solid track is too lengthy for me. I would have liked it better in a shorter form.
It’s good that you are shaken awake again with „What I Want“. The brisk rock song is again more to my taste and steps strongly on the gas pedal. He remains straight in the track the acceleration race is dosed with under four minutes playing time just right.
Introduced with a country-esque acoustic guitar, „Healer“ comes across a bit looser, but still has a strong attitude.
With „The Great Divide“ and the closing track „The Bitter End“ there are two more ballads on the album. Flawlessly performed they all are without a doubt, but I find them a bit unimaginative and boring compared to the other songs. That may be different for others, but I prefer to turn to the rousing crashing rockers like „Fly High Again“, which even reminds of the band Disturbed and blurs the line to metal.
„Chaos Master“ sweeps me away completely again. The thing bangs through and through. The groove grabs you immediately. And pay attention at minute 01:41 on the crass bass, which unfortunately moves much too short in the foreground. This could have been extended calmly still one. I would have found pretty cool. Nevertheless, this very massive song is a blast!
Conclusion
JELUSICK open their discography with the excellent debut album „Follow The Blind Man“. The album contains rousing music with an exciting progressive approach. Not only top vocalist Dino Jelusick delivers a great show. The whole band plays (technically) on a high level, so that quite excellent rock songs are offered. Only the three ballads have not pleased me personally so much. But since many songs are of very outstanding quality, the album gets 9 out of 10 points from me.
