OVERDRIVERS (Facebook) kommen aus Australien und von dort kommen ja so einige gute Rockbands. Und OVERDRIVERS zähle ich ab sofort dazu, denn was die Band auf ihrem Album „Glory Or Nothing“ abliefert, macht schon mächtig Spaß. Auf euch warten eine Reihe unterhaltsamer Rocksongs, die mit einer gehörigen Portion Humor dargeboten werden. Davon gab es bereits eine hohe Dosis auf dem letzten Album „She’s On Her Period“.

Die unkomplizierten Songs benötigen nicht lange, um zu zünden. „King Of The Road“ als Opener drückt schon mal ein gut aufs Gas und lässt den Motor warmlaufen. Mit dem Song „Overdrivers“ bremsen sie aber erst mal wieder ein wenig ab, um einen zünftigen Midtempo-Stampfer abzurocken. Die toll gespielten Gitarrensolos bringen immer wieder etwas feurigen Pepp in den Sound.

Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl, dass OVERDRIVERS mit angezogener Handbremse spielen. Songs wie „Cobra Kai“ oder auch „Guitar Playboy“ klingen zwar noch gut, aber kommen mir etwas zu lahm und energielos rüber. Demgegenüber stehen dann so Raketen wie „Bad Breath Girl“, die schlichtweg durchzünden und euch einen wilden Ritt bescheren.

Ein großes Highlight kommt auch mit dem Song „My Girlfriend Is A Pornstar“. Der Song hat nen starken Groove und mir gefallen die Gitarrenriffs außerordentlich gut. Der Song macht einfach gute Laune und den Titel singt man natürlich gerne aus vollem Hals mit.

Auch „Meet The Monsters“ ist ein grandioser Song, der im Vergleich zu den anderen Songs gleich zu Beginn mit seinem prägnanten Gitarrenspiel hervorsticht. Diese Akkorde sind dann auch immer wieder ein prägendes Merkmal des Songs, wenn der Song das Tempo erhöht. Der Wechsel zwischen Midtempo-Parts und den flotten Passagen finde ich gelungen und sorgt für eine prickelnde Abwechslung im Song.

Fazit

OVERDRIVERS liefern unterm Strich mit „Glory Or Nothing“ eine sehr unterhaltsames Album. Die Songs garantieren auf jeden Fall gute Laune und eine Menge Spaß. Kann man getrost auf jeder Party spielen kann. Zwar zünden nicht alle Songs gleichermaßen stark, doch schlechte Ausfälle gibt es nicht. Dafür gibt es mehr als genügend heiße Songs, um richtig abzufeiern. OVERDRIVERS sind auf jeden Fall eine Band, von der man zukünftig noch mehr tolle Musik erwarten kann. (8 von 10 Punkten)

OVERDRIVERS (Facebook) come from Australia and there are quite a few good rock bands from there. And I now count OVERDRIVERS as one of them, because what the band delivers on their album „Glory Or Nothing“ is a lot of fun. You can expect a series of entertaining rock songs that are presented with a good dose of humor. There was already a high dose of this on the last album „She’s On Her Period“.

The uncomplicated songs don’t take long to ignite. The opener, „King Of The Road“, puts the pedal to the metal and gets the engine warmed up. With the song „Overdrivers“, however, they slow down again a little to rock out a proper mid-tempo stomper. The fenzy guitar solos add some fiery spice to the sound.

Sometimes, however, I somehow have the feeling that OVERDRIVERS are playing with the brake on. Songs like „Cobra Kai“ or „Guitar Playboy“ still sound good, but they come across as a bit too lame and lacking in energy. On the other hand, there are rockets like „Bad Breath Girl“, which simply explode and give you a wild ride.

A big highlight comes with the song „My Girlfriend Is A Pornstar“. The song has a strong groove and I really like the guitar riffs. The song simply puts you in a good mood and of course you can sing along to it at the top of your lungs.

„Meet The Monsters“ is also an awesome song, which stands out right at the beginning with its concise guitar playing. These chords are also a defining feature of the song whenever the song picks up speed. I think the alternation between mid-tempo parts and the brisk passages is successful and provides a sparkling variety in the song.

Conclusion

All in all, OVERDRIVERS deliver a very entertaining album with „Glory Or Nothing“. The songs definitely guarantee a good mood and a lot of fun. You can confidently play them at any party. Although not all the songs are equally strong, there are no bad failures. There are more than enough hot songs to really party to. OVERDRIVERS are definitely a band from whom you can expect great music in the future. (8 out of 10 points)
