LIVE: Exploited, Casualties & Rumkicks – Punk is definitely NOT dead!!!
I wanna be a Punk Rocker
The Casualties.

English Version
What was that all about? – Taking photos at a punk concert at the Turock!
Anyone who has ever been to the Turock, a great location by the way, knows that there is no such thing as a photo pit here. What’s great for the audience is often difficult for us photographers. Especially to protect the equipment from the pogoing mob.
I wanna be a Punk Rocker
But now to the concerts…the Rumkicks were supposed to start today. I only found out about their gig tonight very late. An all-female punk band from Korea – to be honest, I was very excited. I wondered how such a young band could afford it financially, but what do I know. Musically, I would classify the whole thing more as punk rock, with slight influences from oi-punk. Sometimes in English, sometimes in Korean, it gave the whole thing a certain spice and I quite liked it. Both the announcements in English and partly in German created a good atmosphere among the Mohawks already present.
At this point, I was actually able to take a few photos of the crowd. But now it was slowly getting fuller in the venue, the atmosphere was getting more and more exuberant and I had to flee to the small staircase on the left side of the stage, where I practically couldn’t get away for the rest of the evening. With the Rumkicks‘ last song of the evening – Punk Rocker – the screaming pogo in the pit was in full swing!
A bit of pogoing and a pedalboard full of hop smoothie
The Casualties. The hardcore punks from New York were next to rock the place. From the first second onwards, the guys laid the stage to waste. And not only the stage, but also the audience seemed to need to let out all the frustration of everyday life. What started with pogo escapades ended with flying beer cups (much to the chagrin of Jake on the guitar, who had a half-full cup spilled over his pedalboard – obviously not amused – but thank God nothing happened, at least there were no breakdowns during today’s gig).
Storming the stage, pogoing on stage and then jumping back into the crowd via stage dive including somersaults seems to be rather frowned upon these days – but not today, and that’s a good thing! – Fuck, what an energy, what a show! Together with Drain and Get the Shot, this was probably the most adrenaline-filled show of the year for me!
From the hospital straight to the show stage
The Exploited were the last band of the day. And the audience didn’t seem to be flat for a second – nor did the original punks from beautiful Scotland! Frontman Wattie had been in hospital 2 weeks earlier with a suspected heart attack after a gig and is now back on stage! The good man probably wants to close his eyes on the boards of this world! – May it be granted to him! In any case, the Exploited can’t be killed. Even after 43 years they still prove: Punk is definitely not dead! – As expected, there was no need to warm up the audience here; the fans took care of that themselves.
It felt like half of the songs were sung into the microphone by Row Zero anyway! And when Irish Rob then invited everyone to sing „Sex & Violence“ together, only half of the audience was left – the rest stood in a huge mob on stage and it seemed as if this track never wanted to end. – A worthy end to a great evening of punk from Asia, America and Europe! (There was one last closing song, but it somehow got lost).
