A LIFE DIVIDED (Facebook/Homepage) sind wieder da!
„DOWN THE SPIRAL OF A SOUL“
Und nun steht das Album „Down The Spiral Of A Soul“ in den Startlöchern.
Richtig gut!
Mit dem kraftvollen „Burn The Fields“ und dem bedächtigen epischen Titeltrack „Down The Spiral Of The Soul“ endet das Album voller verschiedenster Eindrücke.
Fazit
A LIFE DIVIDED krönen mit „Down The Spiral Of A Soul“ ihre bisherige Diskografie. A LIFE DIVIDED-Song aller Zeiten.

A LIFE DIVIDED (Facebook/Homepage) are back! The album „Passenger“ (2011) had me picked up at back then. I adored the catchy horny melodies combined with a strong dark heaviness and atmospheric synths. They gave themselves a lot of variety in the process. Their version of the hit „Sounds Like A Melody“ is still for me one of the best 80’s cover songs.
This concept was continued on the following album „Human“ (2015) and also revealed damn good timeless songs that you can listen to again and again. The album „Echoes“ (2020) then surprised with cool 80′ s vibes and AOR touch. A great excursion into a slightly different world with its very own charm. Also here one could convince with strong songs.
„Down The Spiral Of A Soul“
And now the album „Down The Spiral Of A Soul“ is here to entertain you. Something has happened to the band in the meantime, because the new album is something I would not have expected. For me, they are approaching the old times again in terms of style and atmosphere. They are significantly harder and darker to the point, but not without the already mentioned wonderful atmospheric melodic components. For this impression the opener „The Last Man Standing“ is a perfect example. The elements are cleverly knitted together into a highly atmospheric epic track. And I haven’t heard such harsh tones from the band in a long time. But that should not have been all….
Hard tones
It is difficult to pigeonhole A LIFE DIVIDED. They move partly in the modern rocky waters, but also punch you with the metal hammer. This becomes especially clear on this album, where you get more metal than ever before. The high art of creating songs that get stuck in your head, they have not forgotten in any way. The songs all have their individual character and a lot of charm. Somehow elements from all past albums can be found united on this work. And I must say that the band has further perfected their art. Besides melancholic tracks like „True Religion“ with its modern attitude, there are also casual rock songs like „Life Goes On“, which are more classical in nature.
In addition, „Disorder“ is a song that is without a doubt the hardest song in the entire history of songs by A LIFE DIVIDED. No one would believe that the band would bang out such a furiously aggressive song. Even I had to convince myself if I was still listening to the right album when I heard this song. „Disorder“ is a mega-strong metal crusher that hammers everything to dust. This powerful appearance is for me one of the great HIGHLIGHT of the album, even if just this smasher some fans might be too much in front of the head. For me, however, this brutal megaatmospheric banger song just has everything and makes me wishfully happy. Therefore I admire the courage to take such a step. „Disorder“ is epic power over four minutes ! Already one of my favorite songs this year!
This song flashed me so much that I immediately wished A LIFE DIVIDED would have created one or two more such destroyers. So much for my personal wishful thinking. I think maybe they didn’t want to overwhelm the fans right away. But it shows very massively what the band is capable of. But now back to the current album and even if „Disorder“ remains an exceptional song on this album, the other songs are also crisp and know how to inspire.
A braking parachute
A LIFE DIVIDED suddenly throw out the ballad „Thanks For Nothing“ after the escalation with „Disorder“ and drive the pulse down drastically. However, this contrast or the braking maneuver in the song sequence turned out a bit too drastic for me. After that they step on the tube again and with „Hand Of Healing“ follows a nice snappy number including a cool guitar solo. „Tear Down The Walls“ lets it crash even more and can also inspire with a really cool guitar solo.
As on the album „Passenger“, the third last song is a cover of a very well-known hit from the 80s. They have taken „Send Me An Angel“ and conjured up a fantastic riff-heavy rock version. Really good!
With the powerful „Burn The Fields“ and the thoughtful epic title track „Down The Spiral Of The Soul“ the album ends full of various impressions.
Conclusion
A LIFE DIVIDED crown their discography so far with „Down The Spiral Of A Soul“. An album that contains and combines everything that distinguishes the band and they have presented on their past albums. One remembers again more on old virtues and the mood becomes darker again and it goes harder to the point. But the band goes in places a big step further and presents the hardest A LIFE DIVIDED song of all time, the crushing monster „Disorder“. All in all, this only underlines the versatility of this band in a very impressive way.
