Auf das Debüt von SWEET ELECTRIC (Homepage/Facebook) habe ich mich besonders gefreut, denn diese Band durfte ich bereits zweimal live genießen. Einmal 2023 als Vorband von Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons (Bericht) und vor einigen Wochen beim FORMOSA Bierfest (Bericht). Jetzt ist bald so weit, denn am 01.November wird „The Monsters Are Rising“ erscheinen. Mit 10 Songs wollen euch SWEET ELECTRIC mit ihrer Interpretation des Rock n‘ Roll unterhalten.

Mit ihrem lockeren gut gelaunten Rocksound rennen sie bei mir jedenfalls offene Türen ein. Oft habe ich beim Hören gewisse AC/DC-Feelings, was ich ziemlich cool finde. Doch das ist nur ein Teil der Musik, denn SWEET ELECTRIC sind aufgeweckte Burschen und schaffen sich ihre eigene Rockwelt. Und dort wimmelt es nur so von vielfältigen mitreißenden Songs, die allesamt jeglichen Trübsal wegblasen. Die Songs sind wie geschaffen für zünftige Rock N Roll Parties. Als Besonderheit kann man auch anmerken, Rhythmusfraktion (also alles außer Gesang und Solos) bei Dirk Baldringer in Leverkusen live aufgenommen wurde.

SWEET ELECTRIC sind verrückt

Und das ist gut so! Nicht nur die charismatische Energiebombe alias Sänger Brad macht hier als Stimmungskanone einen hervorragenden Job. Auch die Instrumentalfraktion ist alles andere als Beiwerk. Es ist die pure Freude den Jungs zuzuhören. Die Gitarrenfraktion beschert dem Hörer wunderbare Momente und das nicht nur bei den fetzigen Solos. Sie sind insgesamt ein äußerst belebende Komponente im Sound. Das ist immer was los. Auch der Bass versteckt sich nicht, den man häufig auf dem Album sehr schön raushören kann. Wenn man mal genauer hinhört, dann stellt man fest, dass man den Songs viel Liebe zum Detail geschenkt hat. Die Songs fahren nicht starr auf einer bestimmten Linie, sondern wechseln gerne mal die Spur. SWEET ELECTRIC sorgen so dafür, dass die Songs immer mit einem gewissen Etwas daherkommen.

Rock ‚N‘ Roll never dies

So haut Sänger Brad beim Opener „Heir To The Throne“ teilweise wie ein Maschinengewehr die Vocals raus, dass einem fast schwindelig wird. Alle Achtung vor dem, was Brad gesanglich abliefert, nicht nur hier, sondern auf dem ganzen Album. Und die Jungs an den Instrumenten befeuern den Sound absolut hochklassig und lassen die Rock N‘ Roll-Seele brennen. Es wird also direkt Vollgas gegeben! Was für ein grandioser Einstieg! Als erste Single wurde allerdings der Song „Killer Katharina“ ausgewählt und mit einem bunten Video umgesetzt. Der Song versprüht ebenfalls bis zum Abwinken rockige Vibes mit allem drum und dran.

Darüber hinaus kommen die Jungs noch mit einer großen Portion Humor daher, den ich auch schon live erleben durfte, als ich z.B. den Merchzettel von SWEET ELECTRIC beim Formosa Bierfest durchlas, den Brad spontan zusammengekritzelt hatte. Klickt mal aufs Bild, dann könnt ihr es besser entziffern.

Die rockige Vielfalt

hatte ich bereits erwähnt. Ich möchte in diesem Zusammenhang explizit noch zwei Songs ansprechen, die von ihrer Art stark herausstechen. So nimmt man mal locker flockig mit dem Song „Living It Up“ die Ausfahrt in die Funky-Rock-Zone. Wie geil ist das denn bitteschön!?! Was für eine lässige coole Nummer, die dann aber noch richtig Tempo aufnimmt und sich zu einem treibenden Rocksong entwickelt. Der Wechsel zwischen den unterschiedlichen Parts ist schlichtweg genial und hat mich total geflasht.

Bei dem anderen Song handelt es sich um eine Ballade. Und da bin ich immer skeptisch, denn oft langweilen sie mich. Aber es gibt Ausnahmen! „Sober“ ist so eine Ausnahme! Ich hätte tatsächlich nicht erwartet, aber SWEET ELECTRIC haben es sogar geschafft, dass ich diese Ballade zu einem echten Highlight auf dem Album küre. Das mit Blues getränkte „Sober“ hat mich voll gepackt und in seinen Bann gezogen. Es ist ein wunderschöner Song mit einem umwerfend gefühlvollen Gitarrenspiel. Das ausgiebige Solo ist ein wahrer Traum. „Sober“ ist ein unglaublicher Genuß! Gänsehaut über sieben Minuten lang!

Fazit

SWEET ELECTRIC feiern eine wilde Rockparty auf ihrem Debüt „The Monster Are Rising“. Es ist eine inspirierende und mitreißende Verrücktheit, die durch die Band musikalisch genial transportiert und ausgedrückt wird. So hat man einen Riesenspaß beim Hören. Es wimmelt nur so von vielfältigen mitreißenden Songs, die allesamt jeglichen Trübsal wegblasen. Live wird das Ganze nochmals intensiviert. Also wenn ihr die Gelegenheit auf einen Gig mit SWEET ELECTRIC habt, müsst ihr diese Chance nutzen.

Ich möchte ganz ehrlich sein. Das Debüt „The Monsters Are Rising“ hat einen so hohen Unterhaltungswert, weil dessen Songs allesamt mit viel Liebe zum Detail, musikalischem Verständnis und Können produziert worden sind. Es gibt für mich keinen schlechten oder durchschnittlichen Song, sondern nur geniale Rocker, die mit viel individuellem Charme für Begeisterung sorgen. Alles, was ihr mit Rock ‚N‘ Roll in Verbindung bringt, findet ihr auf diesem Album. Also egal, was SWEET ELECRIC irgendwann musikalisch nachlegen werden, vergebe ich gerne die vollen 10 Punkte für ihr fantastisches feuriges Debüt. Ich liebe es!

I was particularly looking forward to the debut of SWEET ELECTRIC (Homepage/Facebook) because I’ve already had the pleasure of enjoying this band live twice. Once in 2023 as the support act for Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons (review) and a few weeks ago at the FORMOSA beer festival (review). Now the time has come, because „The Monsters Are Rising“ will be released on 01 November. With 10 songs SWEET ELECTRIC want to entertain you with their interpretation of Rock n‘ Roll.

With their laid-back, good-humoured rock sound, they certainly open doors for me. I often have somewhat of an AC/DC feeling when I listen to them, which I think is pretty cool. But that’s only part of the music, because SWEET ELECTRIC are clever guys and create their own rock world. And it’s teeming with a variety of rousing songs, all of which blow away any gloom. The songs are made for proper rock n roll parties. A special feature is that the rhythm section (everything except vocals and solos) was recorded live at Dirk Baldringer’s studio in Leverkusen.

SWEET ELECTRIC are crazy

And that’s a good thing! It’s not just the charismatic energy bomb, aka singer Brad, who does an excellent job here as a mood cannon. The instrumental group is also anything but an accessory. It’s pure joy to listen to these guys. The guitar section provides the listener with wonderful moments, and not just with the groovy solos. Overall, they are an extremely invigorating component in the sound. There’s always something going on. The bass doesn’t hide either, which can often be heard very clearly on the album, e.g. on the song ‘Hey Kid’. If you listen more closely, you realise that the songs have been given a lot of attention to detail. The songs don’t stick rigidly to a certain line, but like to change direction from time to time. SWEET ELECTRIC thus ensure that the songs always come across with a certain special something.

Rock ‚N‘ Roll never dies

On the opener ‘Heir To The Throne’, for example, vocalist Brad blasts out the vocals like a machine gun, almost making you dizzy. All respect for what Brad delivers vocally, not only here but on the whole album. And the guys on the instruments fire up the sound in an absolutely top-class way and let the rock n‘ roll soul burn. So it’s full throttle straight away! What a great start! The song ‘Killer Katharina’ was chosen as the first single, however, and was accompanied by a colourful video. The song also radiates rock vibes with all the trimmings.

The guys also have a great sense of humour, which I was able to experience live when I read through the SWEET ELECTRIC merch sheet at the Formosa Beer Festival, for example, which Brad had spontaneously scribbled together. Click on the picture so you can decipher it better.

The rocking variety

I have already mentioned. In this context, I would like to explicitly mention two other songs that stand out in their own right. The song ‘Living It Up’, for example, takes a relaxed and fluffy exit into the funky rock zone. How cool is that!!! What a groovy, cool song, which then really picks up speed and develops into a driving rock song. The change between the different parts is simply brilliant and totally flashed me.

The other song is a ballad. And I’m always sceptical about that, because they often bore me. But there are exceptions! ‘Sober’ is such an exception! I really didn’t expect it, but SWEET ELECTRIC have even managed to make this ballad a real highlight on the album. The blues-soaked ‘Sober’ really grabbed me and cast a spell over me. It’s a beautiful song with stunningly soulful guitar playing. The extensive solo is a real dream. ‘Sober’ is an incredible pleasure! Goosebumps for over seven minutes!

Conclusion

SWEET ELECTRIC celebrate a wild rock party on their debut ‘The Monsters Are Rising’. It is an inspiring and intoxicating craziness that is ingeniously transported and expressed musically by the band. It’s a lot of fun to listen to. It is teeming with diverse, rousing songs, all of which blow away any gloom. The whole thing is intensified even more live. So if you have the chance to see SWEET ELECTRIC at a gig, you have to take it.

I want to be honest. The debut ‘The Monsters Are Rising’ has such a high entertainment value because its songs have all been produced with great attention to detail, musical understanding and skill. For me, there are no bad or average songs, just brilliant rockers with a lot of individual charm that are sure to delight. Everything you associate with rock ‘n’ roll can be found on this album. So no matter what SWEET ELECRIC will come up with musically at some point, I’m happy to award the full 10 points for their fantastic, fiery debut. I love it!
