EDGE OF PARADISE (Facebook) aus den U.S.A. sind bald mit ihrem neuen Album „Prophecy“ am Start, und das erstmals beim neuen Label Napalm Records. Das neue Album befasst sich thematisch mit dem technischen Fortschritt, der in einer wahnsinnigen Geschwindigkeit voranschreitet. Einerseits faszinierend, andererseits aber auch beängstigend, gerade was das Gebiet der künstlichen Intelligenz angeht. EDGE OF PARADISE wollen daran erinnern, dass wir in der ganzen Entwicklung uns als Menschen nicht vergessen, wobei wir uns vielleicht mal irgendwie neu erfinden müssen.

Die Single „Prophecy Unbound“ verdeutlicht überaus imposant, was auf dem Album so los ist. Es geht mit viel Energie zur Sache und der Refrain erreicht sogar eine dramatische Epik, die wirklich erstaunlich ist und eindringlich unter die Haut geht. Aber es gibt auch durchaus ruhigere Momente auf dem Album. Für die ruhigsten Momente auf dem Album muss man bis zum sechsten Song „Hear Me“ warten, der als einziger derart zurückhaltend ist und ruhige Momente bietet.

Nur eine zarter Hintergrund von Synthies und die Klänge eines Pianos begleiten die Stimme von Sängerin Margarita Monet, die trotz oder gerade wegen der minimalistischen instrumentalen Begleitung eine spezielle Anziehungskraft ausübt. „Relive Again“ und „Sad Life Of Rose“ haben zwar auch einen balladesken Charakter, aber kommen viel massiver rüber und sind in ihrer Art ebenfalls ungemein beeindruckend.

Man hört also, dass „Prophecy“ beim Sound vom Vorgängeralbum „Hologram“ ansetzt, wo schon vermehrt härtere Töne zu vernehmen waren. Auch bei den neuen Songs gibt es einen insgesamt fetten Sound, der mit satten heavy Riffs aufschlägt. EDGE OF PARADISE hauen schon ziemlich heftig auf den Putz. Der Sound ist weiterhin von Synhties durchsetzt und besitzt so im Ganzen eine sehr moderne Ausrichtung. Die charakteristische Stimme von Sängerin Margarita Monet fühlt sich in hohen Tonlagen wohl und prägt den Sound damit ungemein.

Fazit

EDGE OF PARADISE präsentieren auf ihrem Album „Prophecy“ eine unterhaltsame Mischung von Songs. Ein echt starkes Album mit Power und Dramatik! Alles in allem ein verdammt guter Auftritt, der die Fangemeinde sicherlich weiter wachsen lässt. (8,5 von 10 Punkten)

The new album deals thematically with technological progress, which is progressing at an insane speed. Fascinating on the one hand, but also frightening on the other, especially when it comes to artificial intelligence. EDGE OF PARADISE want to remind us that we should not forget ourselves as human beings in the midst of all this development, although we may have to reinvent ourselves somehow.

The single „Prophecy Unbound“ impressively illustrates what is going on on the album. It gets down to business with a lot of energy and the chorus even reaches a dramatic epicness that is really amazing and gets under your skin. But there are also quieter moments on the album. For the quietest moments on the album, you have to wait until the sixth song, „Hear Me“, which is the only one that is so restrained and offers quiet moments.

Only a delicate background of synths and a piano accompany the voice of singer Margarita Monet, which exerts a special attraction cause of the minimalist instrumental accompaniment. Although „Relive Again“ and „Sad Life Of Rose“ also have a balladic character, they come across as much more massive and are also incredibly impressive in their own way.

You can hear that „Prophecy“ is based on the sound of the previous album „Hologram“, which already featured increasingly heavier tones. The new songs also have an overall fat sound that hits with rich heavy riffs. EDGE OF PARADISE really hit the ground running. The sound is still interspersed with synths and thus has a very modern orientation. The characteristic voice of singer Margarita Monet feels at home in high pitches and shapes the sound immensely.

Conclusion

EDGE OF PARADISE present an entertaining mix of songs on their album „Prophecy“. A really strong album with power and drama! All in all, a damn good performance that is sure to grow the band’s fan base. (8.5 out of 10 points)
