F.K.Ü. „The Horror And The Metal“ Review
Genre: Thrash Metal
Release: 09.02.’24
Label: Despotz Records
The Horror And The Metal“ folgen.

Bei „Don’t Have To To Texas“ dürfte das schon sofort klar sein.
Fazit
F.K.Ü. sorgen mit ihrem Album „The Horror And The Metal“ für spannende knisternde Unterhaltung. Echt kurzweilig! Echt gut!
English review
Genre: Thrash Metal

F.K.Ü. (Facebook) come from Sweden and have been guests in our ‚METALHEAD’s new stuff‘ playlist in recent weeks. If the singles are such banger, then of course a review of the new album „The Horror And The Metal“ has to follow.
Many people who don’t know the band yet will be wondering what F.K.Ü. actually means. It’s probably the funniest band name I know. Because it stands for FREDDY KRUEGERS ÜNDERWEAR! Let’s be honest… Is there a funnier band name than this? If anyone else has any funny band names in mind, please let us know.
They love the classics
F.K.Ü. play a classic old-school sound that plays out between bay-area trash and crossover thrash. The album thus pays homage to the sound of the 80s and also thematically to the cinematic horror classics from that time. Anyone familiar with the films from this period will know that these films were never about a psychologically profound story. The films got straight to the point and offered various bloody scenarios with monsters and serial killers. As a result, there were hardly any overlong films in this area.
The music of F.K.Ü. reflects exactly that. The following statement from the band also fits in with this.
We’ve never before felt this confident about an album. We wanted to be direct and to the point and we really trimmed the fat off these songs and made them the best they can be. Every second on the album needed to be engaging and we really feel we have achieved that. When it all came together we felt that, instead of creating an intricate concept album, we should just be as to the point as possible. That’s why we simply decided to call the album “The Horror And The Metal”, to just make it as defining as possible, a mission statement of what this band is about.

So we won’t keep you in suspense for long. Here is the title track!
A bloodbath
The title track is the album’s kick-off track, thrashing and slaughtering its way through the ears. The singer’s voice is quite concise and suits the sound damn well. So the neck muscles are already warmed up properly. This is also necessary, because the second song „(He Is) The Antichrist“ is already hellishly fast. The devil runs wild. In between, he calms down a little and stomps furiously forward. This slower part is really well integrated. At this point, I would like to mention the drummer, who does an excellent job here.
A journey through the horror movie world of the 80’s
It’s really exciting and entertaining to think about which classic movie F.K.Ü are referring to for each song. With „Don’t Have To To Texas“, this should be immediately clear. Because everyone is probably familiar with the „Texas Chainsaw Massacre“. Watch out when the chainsaw is spinning. The song takes no prisoners. There is only flesh shredding. In one form or another, this probably applies to all the songs on the album, although the band don’t always run the shredder at full power. However, I miss the guitar solos on the album. I think that really groovy and/or nasty solos here and there would have been a great fit for this theme.
Nevertheless, the songs work very succesfully, because F.K.Ü. have an entertaining concept, so that it doesn’t become a monotonous horror fest. „Harvester Of Sorrow“, for example, plays the eerie mid-tempo card, while „Some Kind Of Mosher“ (not Monster!!!) comes along with a brisk, cheeky groove. This also applies to the song „Spawning“, which deals with the horror from the sea. In addition to sharks, piranhas were also a frequent guest in films back then, spreading fear and terror. F.K.Ü. have made an funny animated video for this.
Conclusion
F.K.Ü. provide thrilling, crackling entertainment with their album „The Horror And The Metal“. The razor-sharp songs slaughter their way nastily and meanly through the horror worlds of the 80s. Very thrilling! Very good!
