RAVEN (Facebook) gibt es bereits seit 1974! Vor !!!50!!! Jahren wurde die Band von den Brüdern Brüder John und Mark Gallagher gegründet. „All Hell’s Breaking Loose“ erschien am 30.06.2023 und war das 15. Album der Band. Wir hatten das Album seinerzeit rezensiert (Review) Die Songs boten eine actionreiche verrückte Reise.

Dabei gelingt es RAVEN durchweg die Songs trotz all ihrer verrückten Wildheit nicht unstrukturiert rauszublasen, so dass man Gefahr laufen könnte den Hörer zu überfordern.Auch das Cover war dementsprechend gestaltet. Bunter und irrer geht es kaum.

Vom Erfolg dieses Albums beflügelt, war man höchstmotiviert und legt nun erst einmal mit der EP

„Can’t Take Away The Fire“.

Als Hinweis darauf, wohin die Reise geht, haben wir für euch eine EP mit fünf brandneuen Songs (plus Bonustracks) zusammengestellt, die einfach nur heiß ist!!!

Im Vorfeld gibt es bereits den Titeltrack auf die Ohren. Etwas überrascht war ich dann schon, dass das Tempo relativ gemäßigt ist. Da war ich von „All Hell’s Breaking Loose“ anderes gewohnt. Dafür geht der Song schön locker ins Ohr und kann mit coolen rockigen Vibes völlig überzeugen. Ein fetziges wildes Gitarrensolo ist da natürlich obligatorisch. Dahingehend habe ich ohnehin nichts anderes erwartet.

Dann wieder Vollgas

RAVEN haben aber nicht verlernt das Gaspedal durchzudrücken und so ist der Opener „Black And Blue“ eine höchstenergische Spaßrakete, die so was von durchzündet. Da wird man einfach nur mitgerissen. Und RAVEN geht die Power nicht aus und wirbeln mit dem zweiten Song „Power Hungry“ gnadenlos weiter. Stellt euch diesen Sturm und es wird euch die Klamotten vom Leib reißen. Kalt wird euch dann trotzdem nicht werden, denn RAVEN heizen euch so ein, als ob ihr 20 Minuten bei einem Aufguß in der heißesten finnischen Sauna gesessen hättet.

Zum runterkommen gibt es dann noch ne Überraschung. Denn diesmal kredenzen uns RAVEN eine Ballade mit über sechs Minuten Spielzeit. Und es ist genial geworden. „The Wreckage“ klingt wunderbar doomig und begeistert mit einer grandiosen bluesigen Gitarre. Gesanglich ist es auch super gelungen. Ein echtes Highlight!

Als Bonus gibt es noch drei starke Starkstrom Live-Tracks obendrauf. So kann man diese EP wärmstens empfehlen. Aber man hat sich noch mehr einfallen lassen. Mit einem Artwork von All Things Rotten   ist „Can’t Take Away The Fire“ nur in einer sehr limitierten Auflage von 1000 CDs erhältlich. Alle Exemplare sind nummeriert und von der Band signiert. Fazit

RAVEN hauen mit „Can’t Take Away The Fire“ ne krassgeile EP raus. Die Songs machen super Laune und knallen wie Sau. Herrlich wild und verrückt! Man würde nie vermuten, dass diese Band vor 50 Jahren gegründet wurde.

RAVEN (Facebook) have been around since 1974! 50 years ago the band was founded by the brothers John and Mark Gallagher. „All Hell’s Breaking Loose“ was released on 30.06.2023 and was the band’s 15th album. We had reviewed the album at the time (Review) The songs offered an action-packed crazy journey.

Despite all their crazy wildness, RAVEN manage not to blast out the songs in an unstructured way, so that one could run the risk of overtaxing the listener, and the cover was designed accordingly. It could hardly be more colorful and crazy.

Inspired by the success of this album, they were highly motivated and are now releasing the EP

„Can’t Take Away The Fire“.

As an indication of where we are headed, we’ve put together for you an EP of five brand new songs (plus bonus tracks) that’s simply……. BLISTERING!!!

The title track is already available beforehand. I was a little surprised that the tempo is relatively moderate. I was used to something different with „All Hell’s Breaking Loose“. On the other hand, the song is really easy on the ear and is completely convincing with its cool rock vibes. A groovy, wild guitar solo is of course obligatory. I didn’t expect anything else.

But RAVEN haven’t forgotten how to put the pedal to the metal and so the opener „Black And Blue“ is a high-energy fun rocket that really fires off. You just get blown away. And RAVEN don’t run out of power and continue to whirl mercilessly with the second song „Power Hungry“. Face this storm and it will rip your clothes off. But you won’t get cold, because RAVEN will heat you up as if you’d been sitting in the hottest Finnish sauna for 20 minutes.

Then there’s another surprise to come down with. Because this time RAVEN give us a ballad with a playing time of over six minutes. And it’s brilliant. „The Wreckage“ sounds wonderfully doomy and inspires with a grandiose bluesy guitar. The vocals are also great. A real highlight!

As a bonus, there are three strong Starkstrom live tracks on top. So this EP can be warmly recommended. But they have come up with even more. With artwork by All Things Rotten, „Can’t Take Away The Fire“ is only available in a very limited edition of 1000 CDs. All copies are numbered and signed by the band. Conclusion

With „Can’t Take Away The Fire“, RAVEN have released a killer EP. The songs are great fun and bang like hell. Stunning, wild and crazy! You would never guess that this band was founded 50 years ago.
