RISE TO FALL-„The Fifth Dimension“ Review
(english review below)
Melodic Death Metal
VÖ: 09.06.2023
Label: NOBLE DEMON
FIFTH DIMENSION
RISE TO FALL bleiben ihrem Stil treu und präsentieren modern orientierten Melodic Death Metal.
Hört Euch mal dieses geniale Solo beim Song „The Great Chain“ an!
Fazit

RISE TO FALL-„The Fifth Dimension“
Melodic Death Metal
VÖ: 09.06.2023
Label: NOBLE DEMON
RISE TO FALL (Homepage/Facebook) have been in the business for a few years, 17 years to be exact. In the years they have gained an excellent reputation in the scene, not only thanks to great studio albums, but also through countless fantastic live gigs.
(By the way, guitarist Hugo Markaida had released the album „Metal Against Animal Cruelty“ with his solo project called FEELINGLESS at the end of last year (Review). The musical concept was relatively similar and should therefore also appeal to every fan of RISE TO FALL. Just as a tip for those who should not know it yet.)
FIFTH DIMENSION
RISE TO FALL stay true to their style and present modern oriented Melodic Death Metal. The songs live from the martial verses with the extreme vocals and the harmonic clean sung choruses. This has not changed much on the new album, although the vocals are used more variably in places. At the same time, the songs have become even catchier in parts.
The best example for this might be the single „Heroes“, which has a very modern orientation. This is not meant to be negative at all. RISE TO FALL give us a highly melodic banger that captivates with an epic chorus. Yes, this song lives more on clean vocals than martial growls, but those are exactly the moments I want. These are different songs, with which the band is a little outside their usual ways. A great song with emotional charisma in a hard guise. Cool track!
Great listening experiences
Before the fans of the hard merciless sounds shed a few tears, RISE TO FALL of course have enough hard-hitting songs at the start, which will really smash you away. So nobody needs to worry that his neck should remain untrained. The opener „Rising Sun“ makes this unmistakably clear. It’s not the hardest track on the album, but the sonorous opening is just right for the beginning. Already with the second song „Hierophant“ it goes even more powerful to the point. The song convinces both in its midtempo passages as well as in the driving frenzied parts.
Very lively
It is already noticeable at the first hearing that the sound comes across very lively. The drummer makes a mad show and comes along with much energy. As already mentioned, there is a nice package from the vocals. Many details do not reveal themselves, however, if you listen to the album just in passing. So it is worthwhile to listen more closely. And with each pass new things reveal themselves, because it really happens a lot on the album.
Especially guitar enthusiasts get their money’s worth. Dann Hoyos and Hugo Markaida are responsible for the terrific guitar work. In addition to the fat harsh riffs, it is especially the lead guitar that provides great listening experiences all along the line here. There are many great moments where the lead guitar plays itself into ecstatic dimensions with magical tones. This applies to the leads as well as the fantastic solos. Listen to this brilliant solo on the song „The Great Chain“! Awesome beautiful!
Here is another vivid example with the song „Intruder“, where the all-known Björn Strid (SOILWORK) also gives the honor.
Conclusion
RISE TO FALL do not show any weakness and deliver a first-class album with „The Fifth Dimension“. With its modern orientation, the songs sound catchy and highly melodic, but still offer enough cracking hardness to blow you away. You won’t find any trite filler on the album. The songs are all great and sparkle with electrifying energy. So let the energy of the „The Fifth Dimension“ flow through you!
