Es ist mal wieder Zeit für klassischen gut gemachten Hard Rock! Und SANDNESS (Facebook) aus dem heißblütigen Italien liefern uns mit „Vertigo“ ihr fünftes Album. Die Band rocken mittlerweile seit 15 Jahren und haben über ihr neues Album folgendes zu sagen:

Dieses Album ist in einem ganz besonderen Moment für uns entstanden. Veränderungen im Leben zwangen uns dazu, die Art und Weise, wie wir gemeinsam Musik machen, zu überdenken, und das brachte uns aus unserer Komfortzone heraus. Bei ‚Vertigo‘ geht es darum, die Unsicherheit zu umarmen, aber auch darum, unserer Identität als Band treu zu bleiben.

Diese Beschreibung trifft den Nagel auf den Kopf, denn „Vertigo“ ist ein bunter Mix, der sich in verschiedenen Richtungen des Hardrock austobt und dabei verdammt gute Songs zu bieten hat. Doch starten wir am Anfang des Albums. „Per Aspera Ad Astra“ ist der Opener des Albums und der Songtitel entspricht einem sehr bekannten lateinischen Sprichwort. Es soll bedeuten, dass man durch harte Arbeit bzw. Durchhaltevermögen zu den Sternen gelangen kann, bzw. sinngemäß sein Ziel und seine Träume verwirklichen kann.

Der Song ist ne geschmeidige melodische Angelegenheit, die den Hörer schon mal schön locker macht. Hier fällt mir auf, dass der Bass hier sehr gut abgemischt wurde und so wunderbar an vielen Stellen herauszuhören ist. Das sagt mir schon mal sehr zu! Ein Prädikat, welches auf dem gesamten Album zur Geltung kommt.

Mit dem folgenden flotten „The Match“ wird es dann schon etwas deftiger, aber nicht weniger melodisch. Der Song ist ganz nach meinem Geschmack, wobei „Draw The Line“ wieder mehr in die AOR Rock Richtung geht und dabei mit viel melodischer Leichtigkeit gute Laune verbreitet, sich aber trotzdem genügend Fetzigkeit bewahrt wird.

An eingängigen Songs, die sich sofort im Kopf festsetzen, mangelt es jedenfalls nicht. „From Zero To Hero“ passt da natürlich hervorragend ins Konzept und macht mit seinem lockeren Swing ne gute Figur, denn es ist so ein typischer Song, bei dem man einfach nicht stillstehen kann. Das ist ohnehin ziemlich schwierig bei SANDNESS. Die Band fordert mit ihrem charmanten Sound kräftig dazu auf Party zu machen.

Das freche „Back For More“ ist ebenso ein Party Smasher, der noch mal ne Schüppe drauflegt. Tatsächlich mag ich es, wenn SANDNESS etwas massiver auftreten. Im Vergleich zu den bisherigen Alben haben SANDNESS ihrem Sound mehr Kraft verpasst. Der Song „Not Your Dog“ passt in diese Kategorie. Er ist cool, lässig und hat dabei ordentlich Schmackes. Voll geil!

Fazit

SANDNESS erfreuen uns mit ihrem neuen Album „Vertigo“, das mit seinem erfrischenden und gut gelaunten Hard-Rock-Songs einen super Mix liefert. SANDNESS sorgen mit viel lockerem Charme und einer guten Portion Power für einen mitreißenden und unterhaltsamen Auftritt.

It’s time again for classic, well-made hard rock! And SANDNESS (Facebook) from Italy deliver us their fifth album with „Vertigo“. The band have been rocking for 15 years now and have the following to say about their new album:

This album was born in a very special moment for us. Life changes forced us to rethink how we create music together, and that pushed us out of our comfort zone. ‘Vertigo’ is about embracing uncertainty, but also about staying true to our identity as a band.

This description is on point, because „Vertigo“ is a colorful mix that lets off steam in different directions of hard rock and has some damn good songs to offer. But let’s start at the beginning of the album. „Per Aspera Ad Astra“ is the album’s opener and the song title corresponds to a well-known Latin proverb. It is supposed to mean that you can reach the stars through hard work or perseverance, or in other words, that you can realize your goals and dreams.

The song is a smooth, melodic affair that makes the listener feel nice and relaxed. I notice that the bass has been mixed very well here and can be heard wonderfully in many places. That really appeals to me! A predicate that comes into its own on the entire album.

With the following lively „The Match“, things get a little more solid, but no less melodic. The song is very much to my taste, whereby „Draw The Line“ goes more in the AOR rock direction again and spreads a good mood with a lot of melodic lightness.

There is no shortage of catchy songs that immediately get stuck in your head. Of course, „From Zero To Hero“ fits perfectly into the concept and cuts a fine figure with its casual swing, because it’s a typical song that you simply can’t stand still to. That’s quite difficult with SANDNESS anyway. With their charming sound, the band really encourages you to party.

The cheeky „Back For More“ is also a party smasher that goes one better. I actually like it when SANDNESS are a bit more massive. Compared to their previous albums, SANDNESS have given their sound more power. The song „Not Your Dog“ fits into this category. It’s cool, laid-back and has a lot of kick. Awesome!

Conclusion

SANDNESS delight us with their new album „Vertigo“, which provides a great mix with its refreshing and captivating hard rock songs. SANDNESS provide a rousing and entertaining performance with a lot of easy charm and a good dose of power.
