Plaguemace – Interview zum Rage Against Racism 2025

Plaguemace
MH: Hello Andreas, I’m Moldi from Metal-Heads and I have the pleasure of asking you a few questions. Please introduce yourselves to the readers. What style do you play, which bands have influenced you?
Andreas: We are Plaguemace and play Old School Death Metal. We are inspired by bands such as Obituary, Entombed and Morbid Angel.
MH: How did you came up with the name of the band and the very cool logo, which also represents part of the name visually?
Andreas: The idea was: it has to be some sort of weapon and then something METAL and the plague is a pretty METAL subject. Then we had our buddy who is a tattooer do the logo with the flail in it because we thought that would be cool.
MH: If I got this right, you were formed in 2019. Right after that came the unspeakable Corona time. How did you get through this difficult time as a very young band?
Andreas: Yes we got the full band together at the start of 2020 and then Corona hit. due to Corona we just spent plenty of time rehearsing and writing songs which made us ready to play shows as soon as the pandemic was over. This was actually very beneficial to us because none of us had played in a band prior to starting Plaguemace.
Death Metal
MH: You could say that death metal is in a flourishing phase right now. Between old heroes who are still active, there are also a lot of younger bands, that are causing a stir. I’ll just mention Gatecreeper, 200 Stab Wounds or Morbific…but you could actually name quite a few. Would you agree, that death metal is riding a wave at the moment and is being heard by a larger audience at festivals, for example?
Andreas: Yes, Death Metal is having a huge resurgence and it’s very cool. I love seeing bands like Frozen Soul, Sanguissugabogg and Gatecreeper play huge tours and shows. I’m no gatekeeper so the more the merrier, I’m just very happy even more people get to enjoy this amazing genre.
MH: Your debut album “Reptilian Warlords” has done pretty well and you’ve already done a few tours. Do you notice that there are a lot of new fans after a tour like that? Do you notice it from the merch or the numbers on social media, for example? How important are platforms like Facebook or Instagram for you in general?
Andreas: Yes, we have had great response from our tours and see the fanbase steadily growing. We really appreciate the support we receive. Yes, we notice it everywhere. Good merch sales, and the social media growth is cool too. We just love playing shows, so as long as we get to do that we are happy.
Famous last words
MH: What are your plans for the future? When can we expect a new album?
Andreas: No one knows 😉 Kindly, Andreas
MH: Andreas, thank you. Can’t wait to see you guys live on the festival 🙂
