Die Männer von EPIDEMIC SCORN sehen nicht nur stark aus! Ihre Musik strotzt ebenfalls vor gewaltiger Power. EPIDEMIC SCORN haben jüngst ihre EP „A Call For Freedom“ veröffentlicht und nachdem ich mir die drei Songs angehört habe, sah ich es als meine Pflicht an, diese Band vorzustellen. Denn ich bin von der bärenstarken Musik sehr begeistert und ich bin mir sicher, dass die Band für viele Fans sehr interessant sein dürfte. Die letzten zwei Alben sind „Rebirth“(2018) und „Destrumanity“ (2022).

Die Band stammt aus dem Erzgebirge und besteht aus fünf Bandmitgliedern. Darunter sind drei Gitarristen, was schon ungewöhnlich ist. Dafür habe ich keinen Bassisten gefunden. Vermutlich werden die Bassspuren dann von einem der Gitarristen eingespielt. Ist ja auch Wurscht. Befassen wir uns mal lieber mit dem musikalischen Output der Jungs.

Die Jungs wissen definitiv, was sie tun. Das hört sich alles sehr professionell an und technisch anspruchsvoll an. Sie wissen wie man spannende Songs schreibt. Bereits mit dem letzten Longplayer „Destrumanity“ hatte man dahingehend einen großen Schritt gemacht, wo man auch atmosphärisch neue Akzente setzte. Diesen Weg geht man mit den drei neuen Songs weiter.

„A Call For Freedom“ bestätigt eindrucksvoll das hohe Niveau, auf dem die Band agiert. Heiß lodernde Leads und tolle melodische Untermalungen prägen den gitarrenlastigen Sound, der auch dank des furiosen Drummings schön druckvoll und dynamisch daherkommt. Alles andere als stumpf und eintönig sind harschen Vocals, denn haben sich weiter verbessert und präsentieren sich angenehm vielseitig.

EPIDEMIC SCORN schaffen es weiterhin ihrem Sound eine atmosphärische Präsenz und Tiefe zu verschaffen und bleiben dabei durchweg auf spannenden musikalischen Pfaden wandeln, die verschiedene Kulissen zu bieten haben. Beim Song „Broken Dreams“ vernehme ich sogar Black Metal Ansätze, wenn die hohen Screams erklingen und die Blastbeats schmettern. Neben solchen knallharten Ansagen schreckt man auch nicht vor schönen melodischen Ausflügen zurück. Beim Song „Inner Demons“ überzeugt diese Mischung ebenfalls auf ganzer Linie.

So muss man schlussendlich als einzigen Kritikpunkt anbringen, dass es leider nur drei neue Songs gibt. Auf diesem Niveau hätte ich mir nach drei Jahren Pause auch einen neuen Longplayer vorstellen können, der dann locker neun von zehn Punkten abgeräumt hätte oder sogar noch darüber hinaus. Jedenfalls machen die neuen Songs Heißhunger auf Nachschub. Hoffentlich lassen sich EPIDEMIC SCORN nicht allzu lange Zeit.

The men from EPIDEMIC SCORN don’t just look strong! Their music is also bursting with tremendous power. EPIDEMIC SCORN recently released their EP „A Call For Freedom“ and after listening to the three songs, I felt it was my duty to introduce this band. Because I am very enthusiastic about their powerful music and I am sure that the band will be of great interest to many fans. This is not the band’s first album. The last two albums are „Rebirth“ (2018) and „Destrumanity“ (2022).

The band comes from Germany and consists of five band members. Among them are three guitarists, which is quite unusual. But I couldn’t find a bass player. Presumably the bass tracks are played by one of the guitarists. It doesn’t really matter. Let’s focus on the musical output of the guys instead.

The guys definitely know what they’re doing. It all sounds very professional and technically sophisticated. They know how to write exciting songs. They had already taken a big step in this direction with their last longplayer „Destrumanity“, where they also set new atmospheric accents. They continue on this path with the three new songs.

„A Call For Freedom“ impressively confirms the high level at which the band performs. Hot blazing leads and great melodic background music characterize the guitar-heavy sound, which is also powerful and dynamic thanks to the furious drumming. The harsh vocals are anything but dull and monotonous, as they have continued to improve and are pleasantly versatile.

EPIDEMIC SCORN still manage to create an atmospheric presence and depth and remain on exciting musical paths throughout, which have different approaches to offer. In the song „Broken Dreams“, I even hear black metal approaches when the high screams sound and the blast beats are blaring. In addition to such hard-hitting announcements, the band doesn’t shy away from beautiful melodic excursions. In the song „Inner Demons“, this mixture is also convincing across the board.

In the end, the only point of criticism is that there are unfortunately only three new songs. After a three-year break, I could have imagined a new longplayer at this level, which would have easily scored nine out of ten points or even higher. In any case, the new songs make you hungry for more. Hopefully EPIDEMIC SCORN won’t take too long.
