MAY THE TEMPEST-„Rise To Remain“-Review
METALCORE
aus Deutschland bieten MAY THE TEMPEST (Facebook ). For Those That Wish To Exist“ veröffentlicht.
MAY THE TEMPEST offenbaren in solchen Momenten, was noch alles möglich ist.
Fazit
MAY THE TEMPEST bieten ein Wechselbad der Gefühle.

Review english
METALCORE
from Germany offers MAY THE TEMPEST (Facebook ). The band from Munich will release their debut album „Rise To Remain“ on 19.03.2021 with some delay (for well-known reasons). Fittingly, ARCHITECTS have just released their new album „For Those That Wish To Exist“. The sound of MAY THE TEMPEST goes in a similar direction. If the new album by ARCHITECTS is too diverse and experimental for you, you should feel very comfortable with „Rise To Remain“.
Tidy pressure
is what you get when the guys get going. The album opens with spherical keyboard samples, to which singer Lucci starts to warm up. The intro explodes in a furious finale to get the listener in the mood for the next track „Infinte“. This is joined by a powerful chorus in a flowing transition. The word „powerful“ can also be used to describe the entire work.
In between, the whole thing is spiced up with crass breakdowns, where singer Lucci also goes a bit deeper in terms of sound. I like that! The song is a real powerhouse full of variety! You can start an album like this and you know what to expect on the album.
A short breath,
to chase away with „Different“ with acceleration phases! A wicked song where the tempo picks up strongly in between and provides rotation in the moshpit. There is also a quiet part in between, where I would have expected a blatant guitar solo as the climax at the end due to the sounds of the lead guitar. Unfortunately, this did not happen. In my opinion, it would have fit perfectly. Still, a great song!
Great moments
MAY THE TEMPEST are, among other things, beautiful when it comes to melodies in the chorus. Guitarist Jonas is jointly responsible for the clean vocals. These stand in stark contrast to the angry vocals and already have an epic approach, which is also expressed excellently, for example, in one of my favourites, namely the song „Vacant“. A clear feature in this context are the distinct Post-Hardcore elements, in that the band now and then incorporates quiet phases with lots of melodies and harmonies into the songs. This concept of contrasts characterises the album and it works well. This is joined by sonorous guitar leads over the massive riffing. Synths also come into play for the atmospheric depth.
They remain true to themselves.
The contrast concept works again and again and delivers a great listening experience, but in between the band also shows other potential. I find the moments when they „freak out“ and show a darker or more extreme side very exciting and appealing as well. Take for example the part from minute 02:40 on the song „Nothing“, which blew me away. The brutal last track „Unspoken Agreement“ shows even more clearly that not every song has to have a highly melodic chorus and they can also score extremely well with continuous hardness. MAY THE TEMPEST reveal in such moments what is still possible. Leave the normal path every now and then, take a difficult slope or make a rapid descent and simply fight your way across country.
Result
MAY THE TEMPEST offer a rollercoaster of emotions. Energetic shouts, which are shouted out with all their fury, contrast with soulful melodic vocal lines. Together with the qualitative instrumentation, they have succeeded in creating a remarkable work. The album is also well produced. Therefore the album effectively demonstrates what MAY THE TEMPEST are capable of. The album is also well produced. So MAY THE TEMPEST will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in the future. I am convinced of that.
