PHASE REVERSE – Phase IV Genocide-english

Southern Rock
from Greece offer PHASE REVERSE (Facebook ). On their current longplayer „Phase IV Genocide“ they really let it rip with 10 fat songs. I came across the band with the first single „Delete“, whose video I had seen on YouTube. The gag is that this three-minute track is by far the shortest song on the album and is in no way indicative of the rest of the album’s material. There is nothing of heavy southern rock here. The song is a speedy rocket with country attitude, which really goes straight ahead and creates a good mood. I have never heard such like this and it also has something of MOTÖRHEAD. Cool mixture! Very cool and refreshing! In particular this specific guitar solo is fantastic! Listen for yourself!
PHASE REVERSE get serious
Let’s move on to the other songs, where PHASE REVERSE do honor to Southern Rock. Here the technically very high quality guitar playing is noticeable, just in a different way than in the song „Delete“. There it is worthwhile to listen more closely in order to grasp the detailed and varied guitar playing. The intro introduces in style and goes seamlessly into the first song „Destruction On Demand“, which already knows how to inspire with its playing time of over six minutes. Gripping dominant riffs initially determine the song with marginal tempo changes. Great is also the chilling middle part with the remarkable bluesy guitar solo, before it goes heavy again.
PHASE REVERSE in cinema style
The video for the socio-critical song „Genocide“ is an elaborately designed computer-animated film that is definitely worth watching. The theme was implemented very impressively. An idyllic beginning with acoustic guitar sounds is swept away by groovy wild riffs. Nevertheless, the acoustic guitar sounds are a recurring element in the song. Melody and harshness go hand in hand in this song. A great song with an aggressive shouty chorus that is blasted at the listener.
Comment Haris Kountouris (Videodesigner):
I’ve always had in my mind the creation of a ‚post-apocalyptic‘ video. I had the chance with Phase Reverse’s song ‚Genocide‘ . Inspired by the lyrics and by the current situation of the planet, I tried creating a video that represents a, not far fetched reality given the world’s current situation. We are like a ‚cauldron‘ boiling, ready to explode with catastrophic results. I also wanted to show how far we are from each other as a civilization, ‚asphyxiating‘ in these rough times… Genocide, a word that have been determining us as a species.

Very idiosyncratic
the song „Copy 10-4“ comes along. On the one hand, it sounds a bit unusual and unwieldy in the phases with the chanting, and then suddenly marches forward again with a wild sound in the chorus. Somehow this has a certain coolness factor. The groove monster „Die And Let Live“, which stomps through the ears casually in midtempo, should be emphasized. Then you hear the snappy fluffy stoner rocker „Eat What You Deserve“ and the true cool rocker „Sound Of My Stone“ .
Result
Clearly, the Greeks PHASE REVERSE deliver a super album. „Phase IV“ offers great Southern Metal Rock, which can come up with many subtleties. I was particularly struck by the fantastic guitar work, which really impressed me. The band doesn’t need to hide behind greats like BLACK STONE CHERRY for example. There is nothing to complain about in terms of craftsmanship. Great performance!
