SILENZER – „X“ Review

SILENZER (Facebook / Homepage) aus Österreich haben schon mit Acts wie ‚As I Lay Dying‘ oder ‚Hatebreed’ die Bühnen geteilt. Ich habe sie auf dem Schirm, nachdem sie ihre Videosingle „eX“ veröffentlich hatten. Das hatte bei mir schon so einigen Eindruck hinterlassen, denn das Ganze klang frisch und heftig. Nun steht nach einigen Singleveröffentlichungen endlich die Veröffentlichung des neuen Albums bevor, dass schlicht und ergreifend „X“ heißt und am 25.02.2022 über ‚Drakkar Entertainment‘ veröffentlich wird. Die Überschrift dieses Abschnitts ist bewusst allgemein gehalten, denn die SILENZER in eine Schublade zu packen ist unmöglich. Es ist moderner Metal mit deutschen Texten. Und da steckt mehr drin, als diese Worte ausdrücken könnten. Also steigen wir mal ein in die Welt von SILENZER…

Über Grenzen hinaus

fliegen SILENZER mit ihrem Sound auf alle Fälle. Diese Mischung in den Songs selber und auf dem gesamten Album ist schon etwas besonderes. Nun ist deutschsprachiger Metal zwar keine Seltenheit mehr und es gibt einige namenhafte Bands, die das seit Jahren mehr oder weniger erfolgreich praktizieren. Frischen Wind gibt es aber neben einigen Ausnahmen kaum noch in der Szene. SILENZER gehören zu diesen Ausnahmen! Als hören wir mal rein….

Im „Niemandsland“

tauchen SILENZER im Opener ein. Der Song ballert direkt vor den Latz. Mit sehr dunklen Growls und furiosem Trommelsturm und harschen Riffs steigen sie in den Song ein. Es folgt cleaner intensiver Strophengesang. Doch schon nach kurzer Zeit überraschen SILENZER mich mit schmelzenden Hooklines und schmeichelndem Gesang im Chorus. Extremer Stimmungswechsel, den man erst mal verarbeiten muss. Dieser Song ist ein Sprung zwischen Extremen, aber der Gag ist: Es funktioniert! Der Song ist spannend arrangiert, bietet viele verschiedene emotionale Stimmungen.

Schwere Themen

werden knallhart aufgearbeitet. Auch wenn die Songs mit hochmelodischen Passagen vesetzt sind, so sind die Texte alles andere als blumig. Auch „eX“ macht dabei keine Ausnahme. Die Jungs wissen schon, wie man heftig auf den Putz haut und was mir immer wieder in den Songs auffällt ist die Tatsache, dass unheimlich viel passiert. Und doch ist alles so aufeinander abgestimmt, dass es einfach 100 %ig passt. So entwickeln die Songs einen ganz eigenen Flow, der Euch total mitnehmen wird. Auch gesanglich wird wahnsinnig viel geboten. Von dunklen Growls über energiegeladenen Gesang bis hin zu fantastischen Melodien im Refrain wird alles geboten. Bei „eX“ gesellt sich noch eine tolle weibliche Stimme hinzu, die nach einer harten Growl-Einlage toll kontrastierend eingebracht wird.

Die Ballade „Stille Wasser“

als traurigschöner Track in all dem Wahnsinn hat mich auch überzeugt. Mit Piano und Akustikgitarre begleitet trägt Sänger Chris den Song einwandfrei und der gefühlvolle Gesang bringt den Text hervorragend rüber. Ein besinnlicher und besonderer Moment auf dem Album. Kommen wir von der besinnlichen Melancholie wieder zu den harten Emotionen und stehen vor dem

„Abgrund“.

Ein gespenstischer Song voller Verzweiflung mit einem ungeheuren Groove und einem epischen Refrain mit sehr moderner Attitüde. Die Riffs knallen zu Beginn voll durch, doch dann übernimmt zunächst der Bass die Herrschaft in einem düsteren Part, bis die bedrohlichen Riffs sich langsam wieder an die Front spielen. Das finde ich ziemlich genial gemacht! Genauso genial ist der Zwischenpart ab Minute 02:18. Zunächst zurückhaltend mit verzweifelter Stimme kommt es zur totalen Eskalation, sowohl stimmlich als auch instrumental.

Der dunkle Weg zum Ende

Der Weg wird zum Ende des Albums wird für SILENZER immer dunkler. Songs wie „Dämon“ und „Treibsand“ legen noch mal den harten Schleudergang ein. Da wird für die Bangerfraktion noch mal richtig was geboten. „Dämon“ legt am Ende sogar einen furioses teuflisches Finale hin. Ja, so was ist genau nach meinem Geschmack. „Treibsand“ als brachialer Track mit brutalen und klaren Worten beendet das fantastische Album mit einem mächtigen Paukenschlag.

„Deine Nähe“ gibt Euch noch einmal eine Kostprobe von dem, was SILENZER zu bieten haben. Drastische erbarmungslose Passagen neben tollen kräftigen mitreißenden melodischen Refrains. Und dann diese Riffs! Einfach geil! Hammermäßig! Total irre!

Fazit

SILENZER sind nicht nur ein frischer Wind, der aufkommt. Das ist ein gewaltiger Sturm, der sich hier entlädt. Dabei bedienen SILENZER sich aller emotionalen Facetten, um die ernsten und traurigen Themen aufzuarbeiten. So werden nicht nur gesanglich alle Register gezogen. Die Jungs explodieren förmlich vor kreativen Ideen und schaffen sich ihr eigenes Sounduniversum. SILENZER agieren so vielseitig, dass man von ihnen alles erwarten könnte. So aufgestellt stehen ihnen alle Wege offen. Aber diese Mischung gefällt mir außerordentlich gut. Ich habe das Album in kürzester Zeit mindestens dreißigmal rotieren lassen und ich wurde jedesmal aufs neue mitgerissen und konnte neue Dinge entdecken. Um dieser wirklich tollen Leistung Tribut zu zollen, verpasse ich dieser geilen Scheibe volle 10 Punkte. Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass das Album megamäßig einschlagen wird. Alles andere ist unvorstellbar!

SILENZER (Facebook/ Homepage) from Austria have already burned the stages with acts like ‚As I Lay Dying‘ or ‚Hatebreed‘. I keep an eye on them after they had released their video single „eX“. That had already made some impression on me, because the whole thing sounded fresh and heavy. Now, after a couple of single releases, the release of the new album is finally imminent, which is simply called „X“ and will be released on 2022/02/25 via ‚Drakkar Entertainment‘. The title of this section is deliberately kept general, because to put SILENZER in a narrow musical field is impossible. It is modern metal with German lyrics. And there is more to it than these words could express. So let’s get into the world of SILENZER…

Beyond borders

SILENZER fly with their sound in any case. This mixture in the songs themselves and on the entire album is already something special. Now German-language metal is no longer a rarity and there are some well-known bands that practice this for years more or less successfully. But there is hardly any fresh wind in the scene besides some exceptions. SILENZER belong to these exceptions! Than let’s listen in….

They dive into „Niemandsland“

with the opener. The song bangs directly in front of the bib. With very dark growls and furious drum storm and harsh riffs they enter the song. This is followed by clean intense verse singing. But after a short time they surprise me with melting hooklines and flattering vocals in the chorus. Extreme change of mood, which you have to process first, when the song comes across almost balladesque. This song is a jump between extremes, but the funny thing is: it works! The song is arranged excitingly, offers many different emotional moods.

Heavy topics

are processed hard as nails. Even if the songs are filled with highly melodic passages, the lyrics are anything but flowery. Also „eX“ makes no exception. The guys already know how to hit the ground running and what strikes me again and again in the songs is the fact that an incredible amount happens. And yet everything is so coordinated that it just fits 100%. So the songs develop a very own flow, which will totally take you along. Also vocally, an insane amount is offered. From dark growls to energetic singing to fantastic melodies in the chorus, everything is offered. In „eX“ a great female voice joins in, which is brought in after a hard growl interlude great contrasting.

The ballad „Stille Wasser“

as a sad and beautiful track in all the madness has also convinced me. Accompanied by piano and acoustic guitar, singer Chris carries the song flawlessly and the soulful vocals get the lyrics across excellently. A contemplative and special moment on the album. Let’s move from the contemplative melancholy back to the hard emotions and face the

„Abgrund“.

A haunting song full of despair with a tremendous groove and an epic chorus with a very modern attitude. The riffs slam hard in the beginning, but then the bass takes over in a gloomy part at first, until the menacing riffs slowly play their way back to the front. I think that’s pretty ingeniously done! Just as ingenious is the intermediate part from minute 02:18. Initially restrained with a desperate voice, it comes to total escalation, both vocally and instrumentally.

The dark path to the end

The road gets darker and darker for SILENZER towards the end of the album. Songs like „Dämon“ and „Treibsand“ is hard hitting again. There is something offered for the banger fraction once again. „Dämon“ even puts down a furious devilish finale at the end. Yes, something like that is exactly to my taste. „Treibsand“ as a brute track with brutal and clear words ends the fantastic album with a powerful final.

„Deine Nähe“ gives you another taste of what SILENZER have to offer. Drastic merciless passages next to great powerful rousing melodic choruses. And then these riffs! Simply awesome! Awesome! Totally crazy!

Conclusion

SILENZER are not only a fresh wind that comes up. This is a tremendous storm that unloads here. SILENZER make use of all emotional facets to work through the serious and sad topics. So not only vocally all is given. The guys literally explode with creative ideas and create their own sound universe. SILENZER act so versatile that you could expect everything from them. Set up like this, all paths are open to them. But this mixture pleases me extraordinarily well. I let the album rotate at least thirty times in a very short time and I was carried away every time anew and could discover new things. My tribute to this really great performance are full 10 points. I am convinced that the album will be a big hit. Anything else is unimaginable!
