Einfach krass!

Ich hatte es bereits bei meinem Jahresrückblick erwähnt. Trotz des COVID-19 Fluchs haben sich alle in der Musikbranche den Arsch aufgerissen. Bands, Fans und alle anderen haben ihren Beitrag geleistet, um sich durch diese Krise zu kämpfen. Es konnten sogar einige Konzerte stattfinden. Aber vor allem sind die Bands und Musiker sehr kreativ geworden und haben 2021 hochkarätige Alben veröffentlicht.

Man kann sich nicht der Illusion hingeben wirklich alle Veröffentlichungen eines Jahres zu berücksichtigen, denn bei der Masse ist das schier unmöglich. Dies gilt auch für einen gestandene und fleißige Redaktion von ‚metal-heads.de‘. Vor allem ist es dann der Fall, wenn man nicht nur die bekannten Acts auf dem Schirm hat, sondern auch die Underground Acts und Newcomer der Branche. Aber es sind gerade diese, die sich qualitativ hinter den Großen der Szene nicht verstecken müssen und oft für sehr positive Erlebnisse sorgen. So beginnt meiner persönliche Reise durch das Jahr 2021 mit „METALHEADs Top List 2021 – Teil 1“.

Eine erlesene Auswahl

Ich denke, dass wir bei ‚metal-heads.de‘ eine gute Auswahl getroffen haben und eine gute Bandbreite präsentieren konnten. Glücklicherweise gibt es auch noch andere Webzines, die unseren Leidenschaft teilen. Deshalb könnt Ihr Euch von allen Bestenlisten Eure persönlichen Highlights heraussuchen. Die Erstellung so einer Liste ist nicht nur aufgrund der Vielzahl von Veröffentlichungen ein schwieriges Unterfangen, sondern auch deswegen, weil die einzelnen Stilrichtungen nicht mehr so klar voneinander zu trennen sind wie es früher einmal der Fall war.

Zudem ist mein Musikgeschmack sehr breit gefächert, so dass sich bei mir eine lange Liste von Alben im Laufe des Jahres ansammelt. So kam es dieses Jahr dazu, dass ich persönlich ca. 90 Alben rezensiert habe, von denen ich Euch die Alben noch einmal nahe lege, die mich besonders nachhaltig begeistern konnten. Dasselbe werden meine Kollegen werden sicherlich auch noch tun und ihre persönlichen Highlights präsentieren, denn der Musikgeschmack ist so vielfältig wie die Musik selbst.

Auch die Alben, die hier nicht in der Liste erscheinen, sind in der Regel sehr hörenswert, da vorab schon eine Auswahl für die Alben getroffen wird, welche hier bei ‚metal-heads.de‘ vorgestellt werden. Wie es sich für ein Album des Jahres gehört, steht es direkt an der Spitze der Liste. Also lasse ich direkt die Katze aus dem Sack und beginne mit meinem Album des Jahres.

SIGNUM DRACONIS mit „The Divine Comedy: Inferno“

Es ist ein Debütalbum von solcher Qualität im Bereich des symphonischen Power-Metal, dass es auf Anhieb mein Album des Jahres geworden ist. Warum ist das so? Weil ich SIGNUM DRACONIS (Facebook) bewundere! Der Ursprung dieses ehrgeizigen Projekts „The Divine Comedy: Inferno“ und die 11-jährige Entstehungsgeschichte sind von unglaublichen Ambitionen und einer fast unmenschlichen ehrgeizigen Ausdauer geprägt. Das Ergebnis ist atemberaubend. „The Divine Coemdy: Inferno“ ist ein wahrlich göttliches Album, was für mich in jeglicher Hinsicht bis ins kleinste Detail ausgearbeitet ist, so dass dem Hörer bei einer sagenhaften Spielzeit von 95 Minuten nicht langweilig wird. Wenn wir von Symphonic Metal sprechen, dann steht dieses Album mit jeder Faser dafür ein. Dafür sorgt nicht nur das Songwriting und die hervorragende Arbeit der Bandmitglieder, sondern auch die Zusammenarbeit mit einem kompletten Orchesterensemble (Symphonieorchester Bratislava) und fantastischen Gastmusikern wie beispielsweise Sängerin Chiara Manese, Ksenia Glonty.

SIGNUM DRACONIS haben mit „The Divine Comedy: Inferno“ ein großartiges Monument erschaffen. Sie haben der anspruchsvollen Herausforderung getrotzt und überzeugen auf ganzer Linie mit ihrer Vertonung eines Klassikers der Weltliteratur. Dies ist ein erhabenes Kunstwerk, welches für mich auf jeden Fall einen Platz in der Reihe der besten Konzeptalben gefunden hat. Ein Album voller Spannung und Drama, dass mit kreativer Vielfalt und künstlerischem Geschick durchtränkt ist. Eine intensive tiefgreifende Reise, die Euch mit einer faszinierenden Atmosphäre begeistern wird. SIGNUM DRACONIS sind feinster italienischer symphonischer Power Metal! Ein göttliches Album!

Symphonic Metal

METALWINGS

aus Ungarn möchte ich nicht unerwähnt lassen, auch wenn der Preis dieses Jahr für das Album des Jahres im Bereich Symphonic Metal anderweitig vergeben wurde. Denn METALWINGS haben dieses Jahr ebenso das fantastisches Album „A Whole New Land“ veröffentlicht. Der Symphonic-Metal von METALWINGS kommt nicht auf einer monstermäßigen niederschmetternden Bombastwelle daher. Sie gehen etwas filigraner an die Kompositionen heran. Das heißt aber nicht, dass es hier an Energie fehlen würde. Denn die ist zweifelsohne ebenfalls vorhanden, aber eben gepaart mit verdammt viel Gefühl.

Diese Verweben der klassischen symphonischen Instrumente in den Songs ist überragend. Bis hin zu einem verdammt guten Gitarrensolos ist alles da, was das Herz begehrt. Ein prägendes Merkmal ist das Violinenspiel von Sängerin Stella. Es ist ein unendlich gefühlvolles Instrument, dass gerade aber auch in Verbindung mit dem Metal-Sound eine besondere Kraft verkörpern kann. Es ist in der Lage vielfältige Emotionen zu erzeugen. (Review / Interview mit Stella)

Power Metal

BLACK & DAMNED

Gleich zu Beginn machen die deutschen Power Metaller BLACK & DAMNED (Facebook) von sich reden. Ich persönlich halte sie für eine aufstrebende deutsche Band, die mit ihrem Debütalbum „Heavenly Creatures“ auf Anhieb für eine Menge Aufsehen gesorgt haben. Mit einem sehr abwechslungsreichen Angebot ist „Heavenly Creatures“ eines der besten Power Metal Alben des Jahres 2021. Es hat zwar noch nicht für den Thron gereicht, aber es ist bemerkenswert, was für ein tolles Debütalbum die Männer in kurzer Zeit rausgehauen haben. Aus sicheren Quellen weiß ich, dass nächstes Jahr direkt das nächst Album folgen wird. Man darf mehr als gespannt sein, was uns erwarten wird. (Review / Interview)

RAGE

haben dieses Jahr schon wieder kurz nach ihrem starken letzten Album „Wings Of Rage“ (2020) das neue Album „Resurrection Day“ herausgebracht und man sollte nicht meinen, dass den Herren die Luft ausgeht. Das neue Album ist granatenstark. Das Ding hat Power und fetzt mehr als heftig durch die Ohren. Ist schon irre, was für einen kreativen hochwertigen Output RAGE (Facebook) bieten. Ähnlich wild geht es bei den Griechen

FIREFORCE

zu. Das Album „Rage Of War“ hat es mir direkt zu Beginn des Jahres ordentlich besorgt. Neuzugang Matt gefällt mir sehr gut, sowohl am Mikro als auch an der Gitarre. Mit seinen mitreißenden fetzigen Soli setzt er neue Akzente im insgesamt hochwertigen Sound von FIREFORCE (Facebook). Deshalb schießt sich der stählerne FIREFORCE-Panzer mit durchschlagenden Granaten auch in die Reihe der besten Power Metal Alben. BRAINSTORM mit „Wall Of Skulls“

BRAINSTORM (Facebook) haben für mich anno 2021 mit ihrem Album „Wall Of Skulls“ ein verdammt geiles Album, wenn nicht sogar eines der besten ihrer Karriere, produziert. Das Album hat alles, was ein Power-Metal-Album ausmacht und vom fantastischen Gesang des Frontmanns Andy gekrönt wird. Die Songs bieten eine ganze Palette von Songs, die von hochmelodisch bis angriffslustig alles bieten. Geniale Hymnen inklusive! Mein Redaktionskollege Uwe war ebenfalls von dem Album sehr angetan und war der Meinung, dass es eine perfekte Darbietung sei und man an dem Album nicht vorbeikommen könne.

Heavy Metal

WITCHBOUND

huldigen dem klassischen melodischen Heavy Metal und vermitteln das Thema in Reinkultur. Tolle Riffs und tolle Melodien. Dabei hat die Hexengilde den Pfeffersack stets in der Hinterhand und würzt damit so manchen Trank im Hexenkessel. Es sind liebevoll komponierte und interpretierte Songs, die eine Stunde lang eine lebendige wundervolle Geschichte erzählen. Dabei lassen sie eine gesunde Portion Power mit einfließen, so dass eine Vermischung von packendem Heavy Metal und knackigem Power-Metal entsteht. Es ist ein schönes vielseitiges Album geworden, mit dem WITCHBOUND (Facebook) den Spirit der alten Zeit vortrefflich einfängt und aufleben lässt. (Review)

NEKROMANT

aus Schweden haben mit dem Album „Temple Of Haal“ ein fesselndes Album erschaffen, dass Euch die Musik mit einer bemerkenswerten Atmosphäre spüren lassen. Mit seinen episch doomigen Ansätzen und den geschickt konstruierten Songs wird die Welt der alten Götter und Sagen von NEKROMANT (Facebook) wiederbelebt. Die elektrisierenden Solos und Riffs, begleitet von einem prägenden Bass und angefeuert von lebendigen Drums, verbinden sich mit dem Gesang und öffnen das Tor in eine andere Welt. DEE SNIDER

hat nun auch schon einige Jahre auf dem Buckel. Und ist er ruhiger geworden? Nein, auf keinen Fall. DEE SNIDER (Facebook) hat dieses Jahr einen richtigen Knaller rausgerotzt. Mit stolz geschwellter Brust und von ganzem Rockerherzen smasht die Band um DEE SNIDER ein beachtenswertes mit Rock und Metal getränktes Glaubensbekenntnis heraus. Das Album besteht aus endgeilen herausragenden und sehr guten Tracks. Ne Nullnummer werdet Ihr nicht finden. Das Niveau ist durchweg verdammt hoch, auch wenn nicht jeder Song das Niveau der absoluten Burnersongs erreicht. So bleibt ein Album, dass auf jeden Fall zu den Besten gehört, was ich dieses Jahr bisher in diesem Bereich gehört habe (Review hier) Doch das Album musste sich dann doch noch geschlagen geben., und zwar von

MANIMAL mit „Armageddon“

„Armageddon“ ist das Heavy Metal Album des Jahres für mich. Warum? MANIMAL (Facebook) haben mit „Armageddon“ dem klassischen Heavy Metal ein Denkmal gesetzt. Das Album hat keine Schwächen und bietet einen Knaller nach dem anderen. Ein Album muss in erster Linie unterhalten! Und das tut dieses Album unbestritten! Die Männer brennen lichterloh und geben Vollgas! Neben den schon erwähnten messerscharfen Riffs gibt es haufenweise geile Gitarrensolos. Der schwere Bass klingt immer schön durch und zusammen mit dem wuchtigen Schlagzeug treiben sie als stark schlagendes Herz den Sound immer wieder voran. Sänger Samuel Nyman ist ein absolut geiler Höllensänger, der den Sound unter Feuer setzt. (Review hier)

Hardrock

Einer der klassischsten Genres im Bereich der verzerrten Gitarren. Und es gibt noch genügend Bands, die mit zünftigem Hardrock zu unterhalten wissen. Dazu gehören unter anderem folgende Bands.

MÄDHOUSE

aus Österreich predigen den Hardrock, und das verdammt deftig. Sie haben sich jetzt 2021 der Sache wieder angenommen und haben mit „Bad Habits“ eine neue Messe geschrieben. Ganze 15 Burner, die es krachen lassen. MÄDHOUSE sind verrückt und scheissen auf Etikette! Dies drückt alleine der Albumtitel „Bad Habits“ aus. Die Texte und Songtitel sind beileibe nicht lyrisch oder sonstwie anspruchsvoll. MÄDHOUSE kommen eher mit einer Leck-Mich-Am-Arsch-Einstellung daher und wollen niemanden belehren oder sozialkritisch sein. Und wenn man ihr mal nen richtig beschissenen Tag habt, dann wird die Mucke Euch katapultmäßig auf eine Gute-Laune-Wolke schießen und ihr zeigt der Welt von oben den dicken Mittelfinger. Versprochen! Michael Schinkels ETERNAL FLAME

ist ursprünglich eine Rockband der 80’er Jahre. 2004 trennten sich zunächst die Wege, bis im Jahre 2012 Michael Schinkel und Helmut Kohlpaintner eine Wiederauferstehung starteten. ETERNAL FLAME (Facebook) schaffen mit „Gravitation“ ein Wurmloch zwischen den 80’ern und der Moderne. Das Album zieht Euch hinein und verwöhnt Euch mit tollen Rockhymnen, gefühlvollen Balladen und auch ein wenig außergewöhnlichen Songs. Ganz formidabel ist ohne Frage die Leistung des Gitarristen Michael Schinkel. Es ist eine wahre Freude seinem Gitarrenspiel zuzuhören und insbesondere die Solos sind eine Klasse für sich. SOCIAL DISORDER mit „Love 2 Be Hated“

bringen frischen Wind in den Hardrock-Sektor. SOCIAL DISORDER (Facebook) schenken Euch mit „Love 2 Be Hated“ eine wahre Perle des Hardrock. Handwerklich ohne Fehl und Tadel und mit einem Sänger, der mit einer Wahnsinnsstimme gesegnet ist, sorgt die Band für grandiose Unterhaltung. Das sind alles hochkarätig eingespielte Songs, die einen mitreißen und begeistern. Dafür sorgen neben dem flotten melodischen „Dreaming“ auch fetzige bluesige Nummer wie „Down On My Knees“ oder ne Southern-Rock geprägte Nummer wie „Raise A Glass“ oder eben auch das sehr atmosphärische dunkel angehauchte „Love 2 Be Hated“, dass mit gefühlvoller Härte zu begeistern weiß. Die geniale Stimme des begnadeten Sängers Thomas Nordin zieht den Hörer umgehend in seinen Bann. (Review)

Heavy Rock

TIMECHILD

beherrschen diese Kunst zwischen den Welten der verführerischen warmen Melodik und dem wuchtigen mitreißenden Rock hin- und herzuspringen. „And Yet It Moves“ ist somit ein sehr aufregendes Album mit einer frechen Portion Coolness und heißen Rhythmen. Die Musik rockt schwer und heavy dahin und entwickelt dabei einen betörenden Groove, dem man sich kaum entziehen kann. TIMECHILD (Facebook) haben ein echt starkes Debütalbum hingelegt. Dies zeigt eindrucksvoll, dass man von der Band noch einiges erwarten darf. Diese Band sollte man jedenfalls auf dem Schirm haben. (Review)

STEPFATHER FRED mit „Like The Sea“

Heavy Rock roh und deftig serviert! Dabei werden die Grenzen zum Metal ausgelotet. Das ist purer ehrlicher Rock mit einer rauen Durchschlagskraft. STEPFATHER FRED (Facebook) gehen auf den Rummel, hauen den Lukas und lassen mit dem Hammerschlag „Like The Sea“ den Gong nicht nur scheppern, sondern explodieren. Ausnahmesänger Basti hat eine Powerröhre, die Euch erzittern lässt. Er kann Euer Herz aber auch mit einer gefühlvollen Offensive angreifen, die keinen Widerstand zulässt. Er ist ein sehr emotionaler Sänger, dem man jedes seiner gesungenen Worte sofort abkauft, weil er einfach ehrlich klingt. Dies trifft auch auf die vorherigen Alben zu, die ebenfalls nicht von schlechten Eltern sind. Blues Rock

STEW mit „Taste“

STEW (Facebook) haben mir ein Hörerlebnis geboten, dass in seiner Art dieses Jahr für mich einzigartig war. Also zumindest ist mir kein anderes Album untergekommen, dass mir mit dieser Art Heavy Blues Rock die Ohren unter Feuer gesetzt hat. Somit sind STEW natürlich in meiner Bestenliste des Jahres 2021 vertreten. Man spürt diese Freude an der Musik in jeder Faser der Songs und diese Freude reißt Euch förmlich mit. Das Album versprüht so viel Energie und Groove, dass sogar die Toten aus den Gräbern auferstehen würden, um ihre steifen Knochen zu rocken. (Review)

Simply rad!

I already mentioned it in my review of the year. Despite the COVID-19 curse, everyone in the music industry worked their asses off. Bands, fans and everyone else did their part to fight through this crisis. It was even possible to have some concerts. But most importantly, bands and musicians have become very creative and released top-notch albums in 2021.

You can’t have the illusion of really taking into account all the releases of a year, because with the mass, it’s almost impossible. This is also true for the seasoned and diligent editors of ‚metal-heads.de‘. Especially it is the case when you don’t only have the well known acts on your screen, but also the underground acts and newcomers of the music business. But it’s these that don’t have to hide behind the big names of the scene in terms of quality and they often provide very positive experiences. So my personal journey through the year 2021 starts with „METALHEAD’s Top List 2021 – Part 1“.

A nice selection

I think we made a good selection at ‚metal-heads.de‘ and were able to present a good range. Fortunately there are also other webzines that share our passion. And so you can pick your personal highlights from all the best lists. The compilation of this list is not only a difficult task because of the huge number of releases, but also because the different styles are not as clearly separated as they used to be in the past. In addition, my taste in music is very broad, so I accumulate a long list of albums over the year.

Personally, I have reviewed round about 90 albums and I will once again recommend the albums to you that I was particularly enthusiastic about. But also the albums that do not appear here in the list are usually very worth listening to, because a selection is already made in advance for the albums that are presented here at ‚metal-heads.de‘. As it should be for an album of the year, it is directly at the top of the list. So let´s start with my album of the year.

Best album of the year 2021

SIGNUM DRACONIS with „The Divine Comedy: Inferno“

It’s a debut album of such quality in the realm of Symphonic Power Metal that it instantly became my album of the year. Why is that? Because I admire SIGNUM DRACONIS(Facebook))! The origin of this ambitious project „The Divine Comedy: Inferno“ and the 11-year history of its creation are marked by incredible ambition and almost inhuman ambitious perseverance. It is breathtaking.

„The Divine Coemdy: Inferno“ is a truly divine album, which for me is elaborated in every way to the smallest detail, so that the listener does not get bored with a fabulous playing time of 95 minutes. If we speak of Symphonic Metal, then this album stands for it with every fiber. This is ensured not only by the songwriting and the excellent work of the band members, but also by the collaboration with a full orchestral ensemble (Bratislava Symphony Orchestra) and fantastic guest musicians such as vocalist Chiara Manese and Ksenia Glonty.

SIGNUM DRACONIS have created a magnificent monument with „The Divine Comedy: Inferno“. They have defied the demanding challenge and convince all along the line with their setting of a classic of world literature. This is a sublime work of art, which for me has definitely found a place in the ranks of the best concept albums. An album full of suspense and drama that is imbued with creative diversity and artistic skill. An intense profound journey that will enthrall you with a fascinating atmosphere. SIGNUM DRACONIS is the finest Italian symphonic Power Metal! A divine album!

Symphonic Metal

METALWINGS

from Hungary I would not like to leave unmentioned, even if the prize this year for the album of the year in the field of Symphonic Metal was already awarded. Because METALWINGS have also released the fantastic album „A Whole New Land“ this year. The Symphonic Metal of METALWINGS does not come along on a monstrous knockdown bombast wave. They approach the compositions a bit more filigree. But this does not mean that there is a lack of energy here. Because that is undoubtedly also present, but just paired with damn much feeling.

This interweaving of classical symphonic instruments in the songs are outstanding. Up to a damn good guitar solos everything is there what the heart desires. A defining feature is the violin playing of vocalist Stella. It is an infinitely soulful instrument that can embody a special power especially in connection with the metal sound. It is able to create a variety of emotions. (Review / Interview with Stella)

Power Metal

BLACK & DAMNED

Right at the beginning the German power metallers BLACK & DAMNED (Facebook) make themselves known. Personally, I consider them to be an up-and-coming German band that caused quite a stir right away with their debut album „Heavenly Creatures“. With a very diverse offering, „Heavenly Creatures“ is one of the best power metal albums of 2021. It wasn’t enough for the throne yet, but it’s remarkable what a great debut album these guys have knocked out in a short amount of time. I know that next year the next album will follow directly. One can be more than curious what will await us. (Review / Interview)

RAGE

have released the new album „Resurrection Day“ this year again shortly after their strong last album „Wings Of Rage“ (2020) and you should not think that the gentlemen are running out of steam. The new album is very strong. This album has power and shreds more than violently through your ears. It’s crazy what a creative high-quality output RAGE (Facebook) offer. Similarly wild it goes on with the Greeks

FIREFORCE

The album „Rage Of War“ gave me a good start right at the beginning of the year. New bandmember Matt pleases me very well, both on the mic and on the guitar. With his rousing groovy solos he sets new accents in the overall high-quality sound of FIREFORCE (Facebook) . That’s why the steel FIREFORCE-Tank with penetrating shells also shoots itself into the row of the best power metal albums of 2021. BRAINSTORM with „Wall Of Skulls“

BRAINSTORM (Facebook) have produced for me anno 2021 with their album „Wall Of Skulls“ a damn awesome album, if not one of the best of their long career. The album has everything that makes a power metal album and is topped by the fantastic vocals of frontman Andy. The songs offer a whole range of songs from highly melodic to attacking. Brilliant anthems included! My editorial colleague Uwe was also very taken with the album and was of the opinion that it was a great performance and that you can’t get past the album as a fan.

Heavy Metal

WITCHBOUND

pay homage to classic melodic Heavy Metal with great guitar riffs and superb melodies. The witch’s guild always has the pepper sack up their sleeve and spice up the potion in the witch’s cauldron with it. These are lovingly composed and interpreted songs that tell a lively wonderful story for an hour. So they let a healthy portion of power flow in that a mixture of gripping Heavy Metal and crisp Power Metal is created. It has become a beautiful versatile album, with which WITCHBOUND (Facebook) excellently captures the spirit of the old days and brings it to life. (Review)

NEKROMANT

from Sweden have created with the album „Temple Of Haal“ a captivating journey that will make you feel the music with a remarkable atmosphere. With its epic doomy approaches and cleverly constructed songs, the world of the old gods and sagas of NEKROMANT (Facebook) is revived. The electrifying solos and riffs, accompanied by a formative bass and fueled by lively drums, combine with the vocals to open the gateway to another world. DEE SNIDER

has a few years under its belt. And has he become calmer? No, by no means. DEE SNIDER (Facebook) ignited a real banger this year with „Leave A Scar“. With proudly swollen chest and from a truely rocker heart the band around DEE SNIDER smashes out a remarkable with Rock and Metal soaked creed. The album consists of outstanding and very good tracks. You won’t find any rivets. The level is consistently high, even if not every song reaches the level of the absolute top area. So remains an album that is definitely one of the best that I have heard this year so far in this area (Review here) But this album was exceeded by

MANIMAL with „Armageddon“

„Armageddon“ is the best Heavy Metal album of the year for me. Why? MANIMAL (Facebook) have set a monument to classic Heavy Metal with „Armageddon“. „Armageddon“ has no weaknesses and offers one killer after another. An album must first and foremost entertain! And this album does that undisputedly! The men are on fire and give full throttle! Besides the razor-sharp riffs, there are heaps of awesome guitar solos. The ultra heavy bass always sounds through nicely and together with the massive drums they drive the sound as a strong beating heart again and again. One of the most classic genres in the field of distorted guitars. And there are still enough bands that know how to entertain with hearty Hardrock. These include, among others, the following bands.

MÄDHOUSE

from Austria preach Hardrock, and damn solidly at that. They have now taken up the cause again in 2021 and have written a new mass with „Bad Habits“. A whole 15 burners that let it rip. MÄDHOUSE are crazy and shit on etiquette! This expresses alone the album title „Bad Habits“. The lyrics and song titles are by no means lyrical or otherwise sophisticated. MÄDHOUSE rather come along with a lick-my-ass attitude and don’t want to teach anyone or be socially critical. And if you have a really shitty day, the music will shoot you catapult-like on a cloud of good mood and you show the world from above the big middle finger. That’s a promise! (Review)

Michael Schinkels ETERNAL FLAME

is originally a Rockband of the 80’s. In 2004 they parted ways, until in 2012 Michael Schinkel and Helmut Kohlpaintner started a resurrection. ETERNAL FLAME (Facebook) create with „Gravitation“ a wormhole between the 80’s and the modern age. The album pulls you in and spoils you with great Rock anthems, soulful ballads and also a little extraordinary songs. Quite formidable is without question the performance of guitarist Michael Schinkel. It is a real pleasure to listen to his guitar playing and especially the solos are in a class of their own.(Review)

SOCIAL DISORDER with „Love 2 Be Hated“

bring fresh wind into the Hardrock sector. SOCIAL DISORDER (Facebook) present you with „Love 2 Be Hated“ a true pearl of Hardrock. Craftsmanship without fault and with singer Thomas Nordin who is blessed with an insane voice, the band provides terrific entertainment. These are all top-class songs that carry you away and inspire you. This is ensured in addition to the snappy melodic „Dreaming“ also groovy bluesy number like „Down On My Knees“ or a Southern Rock influenced song like „Raise A Glass“ or even the very atmospheric dark „Love 2 Be Hated“ that knows how to inspire with soulful hardness. The ingenious voice of the gifted singer Thomas Nordin immediately captivates the listener. (Review)

This is a very exciting album with a cheeky dose of coolness and hot rhythms. The music rocks along heavy, developing a beguiling groove that is hard to resist. TIMECHILD (Facebook) have created a really strong debut album. This shows impressively that you can still expect a lot from the band. In any case, this band should be on your radar.(Review)

STEPFATHER FRED with „Like The Sea“

Heavy Rock, served raw and hearty! Thereby the borders to metal are explored. STEPFATHER FRED (Facebook) go into the ring and hit you with a big punch that knocks you to the boards. But you can’t stay down… so get up and fight on! Exceptional singer Basti has a power tube that will make you tremble. But he can also attack your heart with a soulful offense that doesn’t allow any resistance. He is a very emotional singer, who you immediately believe every word he sings, because he just sounds honest. (Review)

Blues Rock

STEW with „Taste“

STEW (Facebook) have offered me a listening experience that was unique in its kind for me this year. So at least I have not come across any other album that has set my ears under fire with this kind of Heavy Blues Rock. Thus STEW are naturally represented in my best list of the year 2021. You can feel this joy in the music in every fiber of the songs and this joy literally pulls you along. The album sprays so much energy and groove that even the dead would rise from the graves to rock their stiff bones. (Review)

METALWINGS,

eine Band aus Bulgarien, mit Sängerin und Geigerin Stela Stela Atanasova, haben sich dem Symphonic Metal verschrieben. Damit sind METALWINGS (Facebook) recht erfolgreich. Das Video zu ihrer damaligen Single „Crying Of The Sun“ aus dem Jahr 2016 wurde bereits 29 Millionen Mal bei YouTube angesehen. Der melodische eingängige Song und geht einem nicht mehr aus dem Kopf. Auch die Single „Fallen Angel In Hell“ erhielt mit 4 Millionen Views viel Aufmerksamkeit. Es folgte 2019 das Album „Far All Beyond“, welches schon sehr gut war.

Aber mit ihrem neuen Album „A Whole New Land“ (Review hier) haben sie einen Riesensprung gemacht und ein monumentales Album veröffentlicht, das seinesgleichen sucht. Deshalb freue ich mich sehr, dass Stela als starkes Herz der Band sich für ein Interview mit `metal-heads.de‘ zur Verfügung gestellt hat. Und ich musste feststellen, dass Stela nicht nur epische Musik macht, sondern auch epische Interviews geben kann. Dementsprechend ist es ein sehr aufschlussreiches und interessantes Interview geworden.

Wieder Konzerte in Bulgarien

MH: Hallo Stela. Ich freue mich, dass wir hier auf `metal-heads.de‘ ein wenig über METALWINGS, das neue Album „A Whole New Land“ und auch über Dich sprechen können.
Wie geht es Dir im Moment? Entwickelt sich die Situation in Bulgarien bezüglich COVID 19 in eine positive Richtung?

Stela: Hi Dirk, zuerst einmal möchte ich mich bei dir für dieses tolle Interview bedanken, sowie für Deine Meinung zu unserem Album. Ich fühle mich gut – begeistert und gespannt auf die Meinung unserer Fans zu unserem neuen Album. Natürlich bin ich auch ein bisschen müde nach all der Arbeit am Album, aber das Adrenalin hält mich auf Trab und ich freue mich auf unser Konzert am 11. Juni, wenn wir unsere neuen Songs vom Album live spielen werden.

Die Situation in Bulgarien in Bezug auf Covid ist relativ ruhig – die Clubs arbeiten hier bereits. Viele Bands haben angefangen, Shows zu spielen und das Leben hat sich nach und nach wieder normalisiert. Generell haben wir in Bulgarien diese Pandemie recht gut überstanden und ich glaube nicht, dass die Menschen traumatisiert oder ernsthaft davon betroffen sind. Es sind schon viel schlimmere Dinge durch unser Land gegangen und unsere Leute sind sowohl an Gutes als auch an Schlechtes gewöhnt.

Der Durchbruch mit „Crying Of The Sun“

MH: Eure Single „Crying Of The Sun“ aus dem Jahr 2016 war und ist sehr erfolgreich.
Welchen positiven Effekt hat das METALWINGS gegeben?
Hat diese Euch neue Türen im Musikgeschäft öffnen können?

Stela: Dank „Crying Of The Sun“ hat die Welt von uns erfahren. Bis jetzt hat keine Metal-Band aus Bulgarien eine solche Popularität erlangt und hat nicht buchstäblich alle Ecken der Erde erreicht. Wir haben eine große Chance bekommen und das Wichtigste ist, dass es uns motiviert, noch härter zu arbeiten, um unseren Fans zu beweisen, dass wir nicht nur ein erfolgreicher Song sind, sondern eine Metalband, die kategorisch ihren Platz auf der Landkarte der Metalmusik angibt.

Problem der Musikindustrie

Was das Musikgeschäft angeht – ich mag es ehrlich gesagt nicht, was in den letzten Jahren mit der Musik passiert ist und wie spektakuläre, visionäre, aber völlig talentfreie Bands und Interpreten lanciert werden, während diejenigen, die es wirklich verdienen, gehört zu werden, absichtlich ignoriert und unterdrückt werden. Ich hoffe, dass dieses System früher oder später aufbricht und so viele unabhängige Künstler wie möglich die Möglichkeit haben, auf großen Festivals zu spielen und erfolgreiche internationale Tourneen zu machen, ohne von jemandem abhängig zu sein. Ein Künstler ohne Flügel ist kein Künstler, sondern ein Vogel im Käfig.

Türen, die sich leicht öffnen, lassen sich auch leicht schließen. Wir träumen nicht von einfachem Ruhm und falscher Popularität und kämpfen wirklich um jeden einzelnen Fan. Wir versuchen, andere, interessante und fesselnde Musik zu machen. Und wenn wir es schaffen, die Herzen echter Musikkenner zu gewinnen, dann haben wir getan, was nötig ist und was wir uns als Ziel gesetzt haben.
Die Musikindustrie kann dich für einen Tag berühmt machen, ohne dass du es verdienst, aber sie kann dich auch für einen Moment zerstören, obwohl du großartige Musik machst. Es ist also sehr wichtig, genau zu wissen, was man erreichen will und die beste Möglichkeit zu finden, es zu tun.
Ich denke, wir haben bereits ein Stadium erreicht und bewiesen, dass wir bereit und auf dem richtigen Level sind, um mit einem guten Management und einer Booking-Agentur zu arbeiten.

Musik als Passion-nicht so einfach

MH: METALWINGS hatte viele Veränderungen im Line-Up, was ich angesichts des Erfolgs ungewöhnlich finde. Was war der Grund dafür und habt ihr jetzt eine stabile Bandstruktur?

Stela: Danke für diese Frage, auf die ich leider keine eindeutige Antwort habe. Da ich der Gründer dieser Band bin und mich ihr seit 10 Jahren verschrieben habe, schmerzt und betrübt mich jede Veränderung in der Band. Ich sehe die Jungs in der Band nicht als Kollegen an – sie sind meine Freunde. Nur eine rein formale Beziehung zu den Leuten zu haben, mit denen ich Musik mache, ist mir nicht möglich. Ich will Spaß haben, lachen, streiten, reisen und echte Momente zusammen als Familie erleben. Aber die meisten denken nicht so wie ich. Ja, unsere Band hat einen echten Erfolg – riesig für eine bulgarische Band. Es liegen noch viele Wege vor uns – es gibt noch viele Songs und Alben zu schaffen. Aber oft scheint es an der wahren Leidenschaft für Musik zu fehlen.

Die meisten Musiker hier fangen an, in einer Band zu spielen, meistens, um zu sehen, was es ist oder um vor ihren Freunden zu prahlen. Sie nehmen es nur als Hobby, nicht als Lebenseinstellung, so wie ich und einige der Jungs in der Band es tun. Man muss für diese Band brennen, freiwillig kommen, nicht schlafen, seine Freizeit opfern, mehr spielen… Man muss sich wirklich hingeben, Dutzende von Kompromissen eingehen und erst dann verstehen, was es wirklich bedeutet, in einer Band zu spielen.

Problem fehlender Leidenschaft

Leider hatten die meisten Leute, die durch die Band gingen, nicht die Leidenschaft oder gute Absichten. Außerdem braucht man, um ein guter Musiker zu werden, eine Menge Arbeit und die meisten sind faul und wollen, dass ihnen alles gegeben wird. Wenn sie auf eine kleine Schwierigkeit stoßen oder etwas von ihrem persönlichen Komfort verlieren, geben sie auf. Nicht zuletzt erwarten die meisten, dass sie vom Spielen in einer Band profitieren. Sie erwarten, dass jemand anderes alles macht, und sie einfach auf die Bühne gehen und zeigen, wie cool sie sind, aber das ist nicht der Fall. Alles, was wertvoll ist, erfordert eine Menge Zeit, Arbeit und Leidenschaft. Und wenn einige der Jungs sehen, dass es nicht so einfach ist und der Ruhm nicht auf einem weißen Pferd kommt, geben sie einfach auf und gehen. Es fehlt die echte Leidenschaft für die Musik. Es ist alles entweder Interesse oder Eitelkeit.

Abenteuer oder Couch

Zu Deiner Frage – ob wir jetzt eine stabile Struktur haben – traue ich mich nichts mehr zu sagen. Das wird nur die Zeit zeigen. Aber ich mache mir keine Sorgen mehr über Veränderungen – ich bin hier und halte das Herz der Band stark. Ich kann es mir nicht leisten, mein Glück in die Hände anderer Leute zu legen – sie werden es sicher zerstören. Deshalb, wer auch immer den Wunsch, die Leidenschaft und den Willen hat, mit mir zu kämpfen – lass ihn Teil dieses Abenteuers namens METALWINGS sein. Wer ein gewöhnliches Leben will, ohne Leidenschaft und Hingabe – lasst uns nach Hause gehen und das Leben auf der Couch verbringen.

Entwicklung versus Stillstand

MH: Der Song „Crying Of The Sun“ ist eher ein geradliniger Song, der sehr eingängig ist und sofort im Kopf hängen bleibt. Auf „A Whole New Land“ gibt es viele sehr lange Tracks, die viel progressiver klingen.
War das eine natürliche Entwicklung oder wolltet ihr absichtlich solche epischen Tracks schreiben?
Wer ist überhaupt für das Songwriting verantwortlich?
Machst du alles alleine oder ist es eine Gemeinschaftsarbeit?

Stela: Die progressivere Struktur der Songs ist eine natürliche Entwicklung mit dem Hauptziel, epische Tracks zu schaffen. Es hat mir nie gereicht, das auch zu tun. Ich könnte leicht auf Songs setzen, die der Formel von „Crying of the Sun“ folgen, aber das würde mir keine Befriedigung bringen. Ich mag es, mich als Künstler zu provozieren und Dinge zu tun, vor denen ich Angst habe. Das ist der einzige Weg, wie sich ein Künstler entwickelt. Der andere Weg ist der sofortige Erfolg und dann macht man sein ganzes Leben lang die gleiche Musik. Mich persönlich würde es sehr langweilen, ein solcher Künstler zu sein. Ich respektiere Künstler, die nicht aufhören, sich mit sich selbst und ihren Ängsten zu konfrontieren.

Eigene Grenzen überwinden

Genau das habe ich mit diesem Album getan – ich wollte mich selbst herausfordern und nicht nur das Beste aus mir herausholen, sondern mich selbst übertreffen. Die Songs zu kreieren war extrem anstrengend und es hat mich viel Zeit gekostet, sie zu erstellen – erst die Musik, dann die Texte. Dann brauchte ich viel Zeit, um die orchestralen Arrangements zu machen. Und gleich danach begannen wir mit den Jungs zu arbeiten – mit jedem einzelnen, um jedes Detail zu klären und die Songs so ausgewogen wie möglich und synchron mit der Orchestrierung klingen zu lassen. Ich wollte ein symphonisches Album schaffen, bei dem man das Gefühl hat, ein klassisches Werk zu hören, das aber mit kraftvollen Gitarren und Schlagzeug unterlegt ist.

Meine Passion liegt in dem Ziel der klassischen Musik eine vergessene Schönheit zurückgeben, aber auf eine andere und subtile Weise präsentiert. Ich persönlich liebe sowohl klassische als auch Metal-Musik. Vom letzten Album habe ich mir gesagt, dass ich mehr als alles andere will. Ich will mehr Leidenschaft, mehr Power, mehr Epik, mehr Symphonie – und das haben wir erreicht. Es war eine riesige Arbeit sowohl für mich als auch für die Jungs, mit denen wir das Album gemacht haben – Nikola Ivanov (Drums), Grigor Kostadinov (Guitars), Vlad Enev (Bass), aber jetzt kann jeder von uns mit Sicherheit sagen, dass es sich gelohnt hat.

MH: Beschreibe das neue Album „A Whole New Land“ in einem Satz!

Stela: Eine großartige Rhapsodie, die die Schönheit des Lebens in all seinen Farben, Emotionen und Klängen zum Ausdruck bringt.

MH: Das Cover von „A Whole New Land“ ist außergewöhnlich.
Was ist die Idee oder Aussage dahinter?
Warum diese besondere Auswahl an Tieren?
Was ist die Rolle des Kindes in der Mitte der Tiere?

Stela: Es freut mich sehr, dass Ihnen das Cover gefällt. Die Idee ist einem sehr alten Foto entlehnt, das mir meine Mutter vor vielen Jahren geschenkt hat. Sie erhielt das Foto von einem sehr berühmten Propheten in Bulgarien – sein Name ist Vlaycho. Er gab ihr das Foto und ließ sie eine sehr interessante Botschaft auf die Rückseite schreiben: Wenn alle Räuber und ihre Opfer in Frieden leben, würde die Welt keine Grenzen haben.

Basierend auf diesem Foto kam ich auf die Idee für das Albumcover und durch die spezifischen Tiere darauf – Löwe, Wolf, Kuh, Tiger, Lamm – die Raubtiere und ihre Opfer zu zeigen und durch das Kind die Idee von Frieden und Harmonie zwischen ihnen. Die Idee ist für eine neue Welt, in der die Reinheit und Unschuld des Kindes die Welt retten wird, mit Hilfe von jedem dieser Tiere, die Stärke, Weisheit, Reinheit, Intellekt und Adel symbolisieren.

MH: Nehmen wir an, dass DU in Deinem nächsten Leben die Chance bekommen würdest, als Tier wiedergeboren zu werden. Welches Tier würdest Du gerne sein und warum?

Stela: Ich träume oft, dass ich fliege. In meinen Träumen, wenn ich versuche, einer Gefahr zu entkommen, fliege ich. Ich würde also definitiv gerne als Vogel wiedergeboren werden. Auf diese Weise könnte ich den ganzen Tag singen, während ich über die Welt fliege.

Schicksal

MH: Glaubst Du, dass die Menschheit eine weitere Chance bekommt oder sind wir einfach dem Untergang geweiht? Geben die Songs „Still Believe In Us“ und „Second Chance“ schon einen Hinweis auf die Antwort?

Stela: Ich möchte glauben, dass wir erkennen und uns ändern werden, bevor es zu spät ist, aber wenn ich mir das Verhalten der Menschheit ansehe, glaube ich nicht, dass wir diese Chance verdient haben.

MH: Bist Du eigentlich abergläubisch oder hast Du eine Vorliebe für Mysterien?

Stela: Ich würde nicht sagen, dass ich abergläubisch bin. Vielmehr bevorzuge ich Geheimnisse, geheime Zeichen und Schutzengel. Ich glaube auch an das Schicksal und dass niemand seinem eigenen Schicksal entkommen kann.

Monster In The Mirror

MH: Die Single „Monster In The Mirror“ wurde im Video sehr aufwendig inszeniert. Auch die Location sieht sehr interessant aus.
In welchem Anwesen wurde das Video gedreht?

Stela: Wir haben das Video zu unserer Single „Monster In The Mirror“ im Euxinograd Palace (Bilder ) gedreht – einem der wenigen erhaltenen Paläste in Bulgarien. Wir wollten, dass die Atmosphäre im Video romantisch und aristokratisch ist. Also kontaktierten wir das Management des Palastes und nach einigen Verhandlungen erhielten wir die Erlaubnis, das Video im Palast zu drehen, was nur sehr selten erlaubt ist und wir sind unendlich glücklich, dass sie uns vertrauten und uns dort drehen ließen. Das war der richtige Ort für den Song und das Video und ich denke, dass dieses Video das beste ist, das wir bisher gemacht haben.

Die Produktion war riesig und schwer, aber wir haben es geschafft zu beweisen, dass wir mit jedem neuen Video das Niveau anheben und obwohl wir unabhängig sind und keinen Vertrag oder die Unterstützung des Musikbusiness haben, können wir Produktionen auf dem gleichen Niveau veröffentlichen, wie es die berühmten Bands tun.

Die Liebe und ihre Gefahren

MH: Das Video zeigt den Kontrast und die Entwicklung von einer einst romantischen und glücklichen Liebe zu einer alptraumhaften, gewalttätigen Beziehung.
Was war die Inspiration für das Video?

Stela: Ich wurde von der Liebe inspiriert und was daraus wird, wenn einer in einer Beziehung dem anderen erlaubt, die Oberhand zu gewinnen und seinen Willen und seine Träume zu brechen. In Beziehungen hat immer einer mehr Macht und Kraft als der andere. In der Regel derjenige, der bereit ist, zu gehen, ohne zurückzublicken. Wenn wir zulassen, dass uns jemand schlecht behandelt, wenn wir ihm immer wieder verzeihen, wird es zu einem Albtraum, der nie endet. Daran ist nicht die Liebe schuld – wir Menschen haben sie korrumpiert und die Liebe in eine Geisel unserer Ängste, Komplexe und unseres Kontrollbedürfnisses verwandelt.

Die männlichen Vocals

MH: In dem Song erleben wir auch das Wechselspiel zwischen Ihrem und dem männlichen Gesang. Ich finde, das passt ganz gut zusammen und spiegelt gerade in diesem Song die Stimmung des Liedes gut wider.
Warum setzen Sie dieses Element nicht noch mehr ein?

Stela: Ich wollte, dass mehr männliche Vocals in einigen der Songs aufgenommen werden, aber ich wollte auf jeden Fall die Vocals einer meiner Lieblingssänger einbeziehen. An einem Punkt habe ich gezögert, weil ich finanziell nicht wusste, ob ich mir eine solche Zusammenarbeit leisten könnte, also habe ich mir diesen Traum für unser nächstes Album aufgehoben.

Sorge und Glück

MH: Welches Erlebnis oder Ereignis hat Ihnen in Ihrem Leben Alpträume bereitet oder große Sorgen bereitet?
Was hilft Dir in solchen Momenten oder Phasen?

Stela: Jeder von uns hat etwas Traumatisches erlebt oder wird etwas erleben, das die Kraft seines Geistes auf die Probe stellt. Die Stärke eines Menschen wird daran gemessen, wie schnell er sich von einem Verlust erholt und wie er durch schwierige Zeiten geht, ohne andere zu verletzen. Ich habe viele stressige Situationen erlebt, aber ich habe sie überwunden, weil ich das Leben liebe und an das Gute glaube. Ich erwidere nie etwas Schlechtes. Jeder trägt sein Kreuz und ist für sein eigenes Handeln verantwortlich. Ich suche das Glück in den kleinen Dingen und rette mich vor der Welt, in der wir leben, durch die Musik, die ich mache.

MH: Lass uns in die andere Richtung gehen.
Abgesehen von der Fertigstellung Ihres Albums, was hat Ihnen in letzter Zeit wirklich Freude bereitet?

Stela: Die Zeit, die ich mit meinen Lieben verbringe, sowie die Spaziergänge in der Natur. Ich vermisse das Meer sehr und kann es kaum erwarten, dass der Sommer kommt und ich nach Hause nach Burgas am Schwarzen Meer fahren kann, um seine unendliche Schönheit und Ruhe zu genießen.

Gibt es Perfektion?

MH: Dein Violinenspiel ist fantastisch und Dein Gesang hat teilweise opernhafte Züge. Alles wirkt absolut perfekt und voller Gefühl. Ich denke, dass man es nicht besser machen kann.
Wie siehst Du das selbst?
Kann man jemals etwas perfekt beherrschen oder lernt man immer wieder etwas Neues dazu?
Bist Du sehr selbstkritisch?

Stela: Vielen Dank für die positive Meinung und ich weiß Deine Worte wirklich zu schätzen. Ich bin sehr selbstkritisch und manchmal stört es mich sehr. Ich bin ein Perfektionist und ich perfektioniere jedes Detail in der Musik. Aber ich glaube nicht, dass wir perfekt sind – so etwas wie Perfektion gibt es nicht, nicht in der menschlichen Welt. Wir Menschen wollen wirklich perfekt aussehen, uns als solche präsentieren, andere glauben lassen, was für ein perfektes Leben wir führen, mit perfekten Familien, Autos, Häusern und Träumen, aber in Wahrheit sind wir auf diese Erde gekommen, um zu lernen und zu wachsen, nicht um perfekt zu sein.

Und ja, ich denke, man muss jeden Tag etwas Neues lernen, sich verändern und provozieren. Es ist wichtig, anders zu sein – ich war schon immer anders, aber wenn es mich vor Jahren verletzt hat, erkenne ich jetzt, dass es ein Segen war, sich von der Eitelkeit der Welt zu lösen und sich auf mich selbst zu konzentrieren und auf das, wozu ich berufen bin, hier zu sein.

METALWINGS anstatt Weltkreuzfahrt

MH: Was hast du vor METALWINGS gemacht? Oder hast Du Dich schon immer zur Metal-Musik hingezogen gefühlt?

Stela: Vor METALWINGS bin ich viel gewandert und habe nach mir selbst gesucht. Ich habe sogar eine Zeit lang aufgehört, Musik zu machen und habe versucht, an verschiedenen Universitäten zu studieren. Ich war ständig unterwegs und reiste von Stadt zu Stadt auf der Suche nach mir selbst. Schließlich machte ich meinen Abschluss an der Universität und promovierte sogar in algorithmischer Musik. Ich habe sogar versucht, in einer Coverband zu spielen und zu singen, um auf einer Kreuzfahrt um die Welt zu reisen. Zum Glück haben sie uns keinen Vertrag angeboten. Und jetzt bin ich Dozentin an einer Universität. Ich bringe meinen Studenten alles bei, was ich kann und weiß. Aber was mich wirklich glücklich und komplett macht, ist meine Band und die Musik, die wir machen.

MH: Welche Art von Büchern würden wir in Ihrem Bücherregal finden? Welches Buch macht einen besonders bedauernswerten Eindruck, weil Sie es schon so oft gelesen haben?

Stela: In meinem Bücherregal findest Du viele verschiedene Bücher. Ich lese sehr viel, schon von klein auf. Lesen ist meine andere Art, der Welt zu entfliehen. Ich lese esoterische Literatur, Krimis, aber die Bücher, die ich oft wieder lese, sind Ken Grimwoods „Spiel des Lebens“ und William P. Youngs „Die Hütte“.

MH: Welches Musikalbum würden wir in Deiner Sammlung finden, das wir wahrscheinlich nicht erwarten würden?

Stela: Tatsächlich höre ich eine Menge verschiedener Musik. Das einzige Genre, das ich nicht höre, ist Pop-Folk, der typisch für den Balkan ist – es gibt keine Möglichkeit, ein Album mit solcher Musik in meiner Sammlung zu finden. Ansonsten wäre das wohl am wenigsten zu erwartende Album, das Du in meiner Sammlung finden würdest, „Circles of Life“: The Best of Oliver Shanti & Friends“.

Letzte Worte

MH: Das war schon eine Menge an Fragen und Antworten. Möchtest Du zum Abschluss noch etwas sagen?

Stela: Ich möchte mich bei Ihnen für das äußerst interessante Interview und die Fragen bedanken. Es war mir ein echtes Vergnügen, `metal-heads.de´ einen kleinen Teil von mir zu offenbaren. Dank dir! Ich hoffe, wir haben bald wieder einen guten Grund, über Musik, die Welt und das Leben zu reden.

METALWINGS,

a band from Bulgaria, with singer and violinist Stela Stela Atanasova, are dedicated to Symphonic Metal. METALWINGS (Facebook) are quite successful with it. The video for their then single „Crying Of The Sun“ from 2016 has already been viewed 29 million times. This song is quite straightforward and you couldn’t get it out of your head. The single „Fallen Angel In Hell“ also received a lot of attention with 4 million views. The album „Far All Beyond“ followed, which was already really good.

But with their new longplayer „A Whole New Land“ they have taken a giant leap and have released a monumental album that is second to none (Review here) Therefore I am very happy that Stela has dedicated herself to an interview with `metal-heads.de‘. And I had to realize that Stela not only makes epic music, but can also give epic interviews. Accordingly, it has become a very insightful and interesting interview.

Concerts in Bulgaria again

MH: Hi Stela. I’m glad that we can talk a little bit here at `metal-heads.de‘ about METALWINGS, the new album „A Whole New Land“ and also about you.

How are you doing at the moment?

Is the situation in Bulgaria concerning COVID 19 going in a positive direction?

Stela: Hi Dirk, first of all I want to thank you for this great interview, as well as for your opinion about our album. I feel good – enthusiastic and eager to hear the opinion of our fans about our new album. Of course, a little tired after all the work done on the album, but the adrenaline keeps me going and I’m looking forward to our concert on June 11, when we will play our new songs from the album live.

The situation in Bulgaria regarding Covid is relatively calm – clubs are already working here. Many bands began to play shows and life began to return to normal little by little. In general, in Bulgaria we experienced this pandemic quite easily and I do not think that people are traumatized or seriously affected by it. Much worse things have passed through our country and our people are used to both good and bad.

The breakthrough with „Crying Of The Sun

MH: Your single „Crying Of The Sun“ from 2016 was and is really successful.

What positive effect has this METALWINGS given?

Has it been able to open new doors in the music business for you?

Stela: Thanks to „Crying of the Sun“, the world learned about us. Until now, no metal band from Bulgaria has gained such popularity and has not reached literally all corners of the Earth. We got a great chance and the most important thing is that it motivates us to work even harder to prove to our fans that we are not just a successful song, but we are a metal band that states categorically its place on the map of metal music.

Problem of the music industry

As for the music business – I honestly don’t like what’s been happening to music in recent years and how spectacular, vision-like, but completely devoid of talent, bands and performers are being launched, while those who really deserve to be heard are ignored and suppressed deliberately. I hope that sooner or later this system will break and as many independent artists as possible will have the opportunity to play at major festivals and make successful international tours without being dependent on anyone. An artist without wings is not an artist, but a bird in a cage.

Doors that open easily are also easy to close. We do not dream of easy fame and false popularity. We fight for every single fan. Try to make different, interesting and captivating music is our way. And if we manage to win the hearts of true music connoisseurs, then we’ve done what is necessary and what we have set as a goal.

The music industry can make you famous for a day without deserving it, but it can also destroy you for a moment, even though you’re making great music. So it is very important to know exactly what you want to achieve and find the best option to do it.

I think we have already reached a stage and proved that we are prepared and at the right level to work with a good management and booking agency.

Music as a passion – not so easy

MH: METALWINGS had many changes in the line-up, which I find unusual given the success. What was the reason and do you have a stable band structure now?

Stela: Thank you for this question, to which, unfortunately, I do not have a definite answer. Since I am the founder of this band and I’m dedicated to it for 10 years, every change in it hurts and saddens me. The guys in the band aren´t colleagues for me – they are my friends. I can’t make music with people I just have a formal relationship with. I want to have fun, laugh, fight, travel and experience real moments together as a family. But most don’t think like me.

Yes, our band has a real success – huge for a Bulgarian band. There are many roads ahead of us – there are many songs and albums to be created. But here it seems to lack the true passion for music.  Most of the musicians here start playing in a band most of the time to see what it is or to brag to their friends. They take it just as a hobby, not as a way of life, as I and some of the guys in the band take it. You have to burn for this band, to come willingly, not to sleep, to sacrifice your free time, to play more… You have to give yourself really, to make dozens of compromises and only then to understand what it really is to play in a band.

Problem of missing passion

Unfortunately, most of the people who went through the band did not have the passion or good intentions. In addition, to become a good musician, you need a lot of work and most are lazy and want everything to be given to them. When they encounter a little difficulty or lose some of their personal comfort, they give up. Last but not least, most expect to benefit from playing in a band. They expect someone else to do everything, and they just go on stage and show how cool they are, but that’s not the case. Everything that is valuable takes a lot of time, work and passion. And when some of the guys see that it is not so easy and the fame does not come on a white horse, they simply give up and leave. The real passion for music is missing. It’s all either interest or vanity.

Adventure or chilling

As for your question – do we have a stable structure now – I dare not say anything anymore. Only time will tell. But I’m not worried about change anymore – I’m here and I keep the heart of the band strong. I can’t afford to leave my happiness in the hands of other people – they will surely destroy it. Therefore, whoever has the desire, passion and will to fight with me – let it be part of this adventure called Metalwings. Who wants an ordinary life, without passion and devotion – let’s go home and spend the life on the couch.

Development versus stagnation

MH: The song „Crying Of The Sun“ is rather a straightforward song that is very catchy and immediately gets stuck in your head. On „A Whole New Land“ there are many very long tracks that sound much more progressive. Was that a natural development or did you purposefully want to write such epic tracks? Who is responsible for the songwriting at all?

Stela: The more progressive structure of the songs is a natural development with the main purpose to create epic tracks. It has never been enough for me to do the same. I could easily bet on songs that follow the formula of „Crying of the Sun“, but that would not bring me satisfaction. I like to provoke myself as an artist and do things that I am afraid of. This is the only way an artist develops. The other is instant success and then you make the same music all your life. Personally, I would be very bored to be such an artist. I respect artists who do not stop confronting themselves and their fears.

Overcoming your own limits

I did just that with this album – I wanted to challenge myself and get not just the best out of myself, but to outdo myself. Creating the songs was extremely exhausting and it took me a long time to create them – first the music, then the lyrics. Then I needed a lot of time to make the orchestral arrangements. And just after that, we started working with the guys – with each one individually, to clear every detail and make the songs sound as balanced as possible and in sync with the orchestration.

I wanted to create a symphonic album in which you have the feeling that you are listening to a classical work, but lined with powerful guitars and drums. My passion is to to bring back a forgotten beauty to classical music, but presented in a different and subtle way. I personally love both classical and metal music. From the previous album I said to myself that I want more than anything. I want more passion, more power, more epicness, more symphony – and we achieved that. It was a huge work both for me and for the guys with whom we created the album – Nikola Ivanov (Drums), Grigor Kostadinov (Guitars), Vlad Enev (Bass), but now each of us can say for sure that it was worth it.

MH: Describe the new album in one sentence!

Stela: A magnificent rhapsody, which brings the beauty of Life in all the colors, emotions and sounds.

The COVER-Artwork

MH: The cover of „A Whole New Land“ is extraordinary.

What is the idea or statement behind it?

MH: I’m so glad you liked the cover. The idea is borrowed from a very old photo that my mother gave me many years ago. She received the photo from a very famous prophet in Bulgaria – his name is Vlaycho. He gave her the photo and made her write a very interesting message on the back – that when all predators and their victims live in peace, the world will have no boundaries.

Based on this photo, I came up with the idea for the album cover and through the specific animals on it, namely lion, wolf, cow, tiger, lamb – to show the predators and their victims and through the child to show the idea of ​​peace and harmony between them. The idea is for a new world in which the purity and innocence of the child will save the world, with the help of each of these animals. They symbolize strength, wisdom, purity, intellect and nobility.

MH: Let’s assume that in your next life you would get the chance to be reborn as an animal. Which animal would you like to be and why?

Stela: I often dream that I am flying. In my dreams, as I try to escape some danger, I fly. So, I would definitely like to be reborn as a bird. This way I will be able to sing all day while flying over the world.

Destiny

MH: Do you think that mankind will get another chance or are we simply doomed?  Do the songs „Still Believe In Us“ and „Second Chance“ already give a hint to the answer?

Stela: I want to believe that we will realize and change before it’s too late, but watching the behavior of mankind, I don’t think we deserve this chance.

MH: Are you actually superstitious or do you have a preference for mysteries?

Stela: I wouldn’t say I’m superstitious. Rather, I prefer mysteries, secret signs, guardian angels. I also believe in destiny and that no one can escape its own destiny.

Monster In The Mirror

MH: The single „Monster In The Mirror“ has been staged very elaborately in the video. The location also looks very interesting.

In which estate was the video shot?

Stela: We shot the video for our single ‘Monster in the Mirror’ in the Euxinograd Palace – one of the few preserved palaces in Bulgaria (pictures ). We wanted the atmosphere in the video to be romantic and aristocratic. So we contacted the management of the palace and after some negotiations, we received permission to shoot the video in the palace, which is allowed very rarely and we are infinitely happy that they trusted us and let us shoot in it. This was the right place for the song and the video and I think that this video is the best we’ve done so far.

The production was huge and heavy, but we managed to prove that with each new video we raise the level and although we are independent and we do not have a signed contract or the support of the music business, we can release production at the same level as the famous bands do.

Love and its dangers

MH: The video shows the contrast and evolution of a once romantic and happy love to a nightmarish violent relationship.

What was the inspiration for the video?

Stela: I was inspired by love and what it becomes when one in a relationship allows the other to prevail and break its will and dreams. In relationships, one always has more power and strength than the other. Usually the one who is willing to leave without looking back. When we allow someone to treat us badly, when we forgive them again and again, it becomes a nightmare that never ends. Love is not to blame for this – we humans have corrupted it and turned love into a hostage of our fears, complexes and desire for control.

The male vocals

MH: In the song we also experience the interplay between your and male vocals. I think it goes together quite well and especially in this song it reflects the mood of the song well.

Why don’t you use this element a little more?

Stela: I wanted more male vocals to be recorded in some of the songs, but I definitely wanted to include the vocals of one of my favorite vocalists. At one point I hesitated because financially I did not know if I would be able to afford such a collaboration, so I left this dream for our next album.

Worry and luck

MH: Which experience or event has caused you nightmares in your life or has caused you great worries?

What helps you in such moments or phases?

Stela: Each of us has experienced or will experience something traumatic that will test the power of its spirit. A person’s strength is measured by how quickly he or she recovers from a loss and how he or she goes through difficult times without hurting others. I have experienced many stressful situations, but I overcame them because I love life and believe in the goodness. I never reciprocate with bad. Everyone carries its cross and is responsible for its own actions. I seek happiness in the little things and save myself from the world we live in through the music I make.

MH: Let’s go in the opposite direction.

Apart from the completion of your album, what has given you real pleasure lately?

Stela: The time I spend with my loved ones, as well as nature walks. I miss the sea very much and I can’t wait for summer to come and go home to Burgas, at the Black Sea, to enjoy its endless beauty and tranquility.

Does perfection exist?

MH: Your violin playing is fantastic and your singing has partly operatic features. Everything seems absolutely perfect and full of feeling. I think that it can’t be done any better.

How do you see it yourself?

Can one ever master something perfectly or do one always learn something new?

Are you very self-critical?

Stela: Thank you very much for the positive opinion. I really appreciate your words. I’m very self-critical and sometimes it bothers me a lot. I am a perfectionist and I perfect every detail in music. But I don’t think we are perfect – there is no such thing as perfection, not in the human world. We humans really want to look perfect, to present ourselves as such, to make others think what a perfect life we ​​live, with perfect families, cars, houses and dreams, but in fact the truth is that we came to this earth to learn and to grow, not to be perfect.

And yes, I think you have to learn something new every day, change and provoke yourself. It’s important to be different – I’ve always been different, but if it hurt me years ago, now I realize it was a blessing to break away from the vanity of the world and focus on myself and what I am for called to be here.

METALWINGS instead of world cruise

MH: What did you do before METALWINGS? Or have you always been attracted to metal music?

Stela: Before Metalwings I wandered a lot and looked for myself. I even stopped playing music for a while and tried to study at several universities. I was constantly leaving and traveling from city to city in search of myself. Eventually, I graduated from university and even got my doctorate in algorithmic music. I even tried to play and sing in a cover band to travel the world on a cruise. Thank God they didn’t offer us a contract. And now I’m a lecturer at an university. I teach my students everything I can and know. But what makes me really happy and complete is my band and the music we create.

Books and other music

MH: What kind of books would we find in your bookshelf? Which book makes a particularly pitiful impression because you have read it so often?

Stela: On my bookshelf you will find many different books. I read a lot, from a very young age. Reading is my other way of escaping the world. I read esoteric literature, crime novels, but the books I re read often are Ken Grimwood’s “Game of Life” and William P. Young’s “The Shack”.

MH: What music album would we find in your collection that we probably wouldn’t expect?

Stela: As a matter of fact, I listen to a lot of different music. The only genre I don’t listen to is pop folk, which is typical of the Balkans – there is no way to find an album with such music in my collection. Otherwise, probably the most unexpected album you would find in my collection would be “Circles of Life: The Best of Oliver Shanti & Friends“.

Hochmelodischer Symphonic-Metal

METALWINGS (Facebook, Homepage ) aus Bulgarien sind mir zum ersten Mal vor 6 Jahren mit ihrer Single „Crying Of The Sun“ aufgefallen. Der Song ist für mich immer noch ein Highlight ohne Verfallsdatum und ich höre ihn mir immer noch gerne an. Und damit stehe ich nicht alleine, denn der Clip wurde bereits 29 Mio. Mal angesehen. Wahnsinn!

Dazu gab es 2016 eine EP „Fallen Angel In Hell“ und danach folgte 2018 mit „For All Beyond“ der erste Longplayer, der auch schon sehr zu gefallen wusste. Der Symphonic-Metal von METALWINGS kommt nicht auf einer monstermäßigen niederschmetternden Bombastwelle daher. Sie gehen etwas filigraner an die Kompositionen heran. Das heißt aber nicht, dass es hier an Energie fehlen würde. Denn die ist zweifelsohne ebenfalls vorhanden, aber eben gepaart mit verdammt viel Gefühl. Jetzt also die Vorstellung des neuen Albums bei ‚metal-heads.de‘.

„A Whole New Land“

11 Songs mit einer sehr beachtlichen Spielzeit von über einer Stunde wollen den Hörer fesseln. Das ist ein Unterfangen, welches nicht einfach zu meistern ist! Doch legen wir zunächst einmal das Augenmerk auf den Titel des Albums und dem schön gestalteten aussagekräftigen Cover. Im Vordergrund farblich abgehoben vom tristen dystopischen Hintergrund stehen Nutztiere, Raubtiere und mittendrin auch ein Kind. Daraus kann man sich schon mal das eine oder andere ableiten.

Symphonie pur

Das Album wird mit dem Titeltrack „A Whole New Land“ eingeleitet. Es ist ein unendlich episches Symphoniemeisterwerk. Der Song breitet seine epischen Flügel aus und trägt mich umgehend in die bezaubernde musikalische Welt von METALWINGS. In über acht Minuten verzaubern Euch METALWINGS nach allen Regeln der symphonischen Kunst. Und auch wenn ich eingangs erwähnte, dass der Sound nicht so brachial klingt (wie z.B. bei der Band ELEINE), so fehlt es den Songs nicht an Kraft und Durchzug. METALWINGS haben eben nur eine andere Art der stilistischen Umsetzung.

Der METALWINGS-Adler lässt Euch daher oft genug seine Kraft spüren und nimmt Euch auf seinen mächtigen Schwingen mit auf die Reise . Kraftvoll und mystisch dunkel präsentiert sich der Song

„Monster In The Mirror“.

Neben der Violine wird auch dem Klavier eine wichtige Rolle im Soundgewand eingeräumt. Der Song wartet zudem noch mit einer Besonderheit, da der engelsgleiche Gesang von Stela mit männlichen Growls eine Symbiose eingeht. Da geht es tatsächlich zwischendurch ordentlich zur Sache. Doch das bemerkenswerte daran ist: Es ist immer eine Eleganz vorhanden! Diese Verweben der klassischen symphonischen Instrumente in dem Song ist überragend. Bis hin zum einem verdammt guten Gitarrensolo ist alles da, was das Herz begehrt. Mindestens genauso beeindruckend ist das Video zu dem Song, das wirklich aufwendig gemacht ist und eine Geschichte zu erzählen hat.

Eine perfekte Symbiose

erschaffen METALWINGS auf ihre ganz eigene besondere Art und Weise. (Die deutsche Band THANATEROS fällt mir dazu spontan noch ein, die eine tolle Symbiose von Violine und Metal in sich vereinen.)

Ich mache auch kein Geheimnis daraus, dass mir die Violine eines der liebsten klassischen Instrumente ist. Es ist ein unendlich gefühlvolles Instrument, dass gerade aber auch in Verbindung mit dem Metal-Sound eine besondere Kraft verkörpern kann. Es ist in der Lage vielfältige Emotionen zu erzeugen. Und neben dem fabelhaften Gesang vermag Stela den Hörer mit ihrem Violinenspiel zu verzaubern. Begleitet wird sie dabei von ihrer Band, die allesamt einen hervorragenden Job machen und beste niveauvolle Unterhaltung bieten. Auch das oft verwendete Klavier unterstützt den klassisch melodiösen Charakter zusätzlich.

Der zauberhafte Gesang

wirkt nie aufdringlich oder aufgesetzt und die opernhafte Note ist meiner Meinung nach genau richtig dosiert und nicht zu dominant. Ein Maximum an Gefühl (z.B. „Still Believe In Us“) prägt ihre Sangeskunst und wird Eure Seelen nicht nur berühren, sondern durchfluten. Dies gelingt Stela gleichermaßen wunderbar in ihrer Landessprache beim letzten Song „Milo Moe Libe“, der zudem noch mit einer folkloristischen Komponente versehen ist. Bei dem Song ertönen mystische Töne, die ich einer Panflöte zuordnen würde und dem Song eine ganz exklusive Note schenkt.

„Silence“ beispielsweise spielt mit ruhigen pianounterlegten wunderschönen Gesangspassagen, die geschickt mit treibenden harten Passagen interagieren, die sogar ins wilde abdriften. Das kann man nicht besser machen! Eine unglaubliche Erfahrung.

Fazit

METALWINGS haben mit „A Whole New Land“ das melodischste Album erschaffen, was ich seit langem gehört habe. Auch wenn das letzte Album bereits gut war, so haben sie mit „A Whole New Land“ einen Riesensprung nach vorne gemacht und haben Ihren Sound auf eine neue Ebene transportiert. Es sind alles phantastische Lieder auf diesem Album, die den Hörer einfach nicht mehr loslassen.

Ich habe das Album trotz seiner sehr opulenten Spielzeit schon sooft von vorne bis hinten durchgehört und ich werde nicht müde es zu hören. Durch die Progressivität stellt sich nie Eintönigkeit ein und es gibt so viele Details, die entdeckt werden wollen. Ich persönlich hätte mir noch ein wenig mehr die Einbindung des männlichen Gesangs gewünscht, aber das schmälert in keiner Weise die Qualität dieses Albums.

Jeder, der auf hochmelodischen Symphonic-Metal steht, muss dieses Album einfach lieben. Für mich in diesem Bereich ein klarer Anwärter auf das Album des Jahres.

High melodic Symphonic-Metal

METALWINGS (Facebook, Homepage ) from Bulgaria caught my attention for the first time 6 years ago with their single „Crying Of The Sun“. The song is still a highlight for me without expiration date and I still like to listen to it. And I’m not alone with that, because the clip has already been viewed 29Mio times. Absolutely awesome!

In addition, there was an EP in 2016 and then followed with „For All Beyond“ the first long player, which was also very pleasing.The symphonic metal of METALWINGS does not come along on a monstrous knockdown bombast wave. They approach the compositions a bit more filigree. But that doesn’t mean that there is a lack of energy here. Because that is undoubtedly present, but paired with a lot of feeling. So now the presentation of the new album at ‚metal-heads.de‘.

„A Whole New Land“

11 songs with a very considerable playing time of over an hour want to entertain the listener. This is an undertaking that is not easy to master! But let’s first focus on the title of the album and the beautifully designed expressive cover. In the foreground colorfully lifted from the dreary dystopian background are farm animals, predators and in the middle of it also a child. From this you can already deduce one or the other.

Pure Symphony

The album opens with the title track, „A Whole New Land“. It is an infinitely epic symphonic masterpiece. The song spreads its epic wings and immediately carries me into the enchanting musical world of METALWINGS. In over eight minutes METALWINGS enchant you according to all rules of symphonic art. And even if I mentioned at the beginning that the sound doesn’t sound as brute (as e.g. with the band ELEINE), the songs don’t lack power and drive. METALWINGS just have a different way of stylistic realization. The METALWINGS eagle therefore lets you feel its power often enough and the strong claws drill into your hearing and simply pull you along. Powerful and mystically dark presents the song

„Monster In The Mirror“.

In addition to the violin, the piano is also given an important role in the sound garment. The song also waits with a special feature, because the angelic vocals of Stela with male growls enters into a symbiosis. There it actually goes in between already properly to the thing. But the remarkable thing is: There is always an elegance! This interweaving of classical symphonic instruments in the song is outstanding. Up to a damn good guitar solo everything is there what the heart desires. At least as impressive is the video for the song, which is really elaborately done and has a story to tell.

A perfect symbiosis

METALWINGS create in their own special way. (The German band THANATEROS spontaneously comes to mind, who combine a great symbiosis of violin and metal).

I also make no secret of the fact that the violin is one of my favorite classical instruments. It is an infinitely soulful instrument that can embody a special power, especially in connection with the metal sound. It is able to create a variety of emotions. And besides the fabulous singing Stela is able to enchant the listener with her violin playing. She is accompanied by her band, who all do an excellent job and offer the best level entertainment. Also the often used piano supports the classically melodic character additionally. The Song „Silence“, for example, plays with quiet piano-underlaid beautiful vocal passages that cleverly interact with driving hard passages that even drift into the wild. You can’t do better than that! An incredible experience.

The magical singing

of Stela is angelic. It never seems obtrusive or put on and the operatic note is dosed just right and not too dominant. A maximum of feeling (e.g. „Still Believe In Us“) characterizes her vocal artistry and will not only touch your souls, but flood them. Stela succeeds equally wonderfully in her native language in the last song „Milo Moe Libe“, which is also provided with a folkloric component. In the song, mystical tones can be heard, which I would assign to a pan flute and gives the song a very exclusive touch.

Result

METALWINGS have created with „A Whole New Land“ the most melodic album I have heard in a long time. Even though the last album was already good, they have taken a giant leap forward with „A Whole New Land“ and have transported their sound to a new level. There are fantastic songs on this album that just won’t let me go.

I have listened to the album so many times from front to back despite its very opulent playing time and I never tire of listening to it. I am also not able to point out highlights, because really all songs are masterful and enchanting. Due to a high degree of progressiveness, monotony never sets in and there are so many details that want to be discovered. Personally, I would have liked to see a bit more of the inclusion of male vocals, but that in no way detracts from the quality of this album.

Anyone who likes highly melodic symphonic metal simply has to love this album. For me in this genre a clear contender for the album of the year.

Dieses konnte auf Youtube sensationell bis heute knapp 12.000.000 Views aus allen Teilen der Welt verbuchen.  2018 ist nun die Veröffentlichung des vielfach ersehnten Debütalbums geplant. METALWINGS sind derzeit fleißig mit der Fertigstellung beschäftigt. Es darf berechtigt mit einem feierlichen, beflügelnden Symphonic Metal-Highlight gerechnet werden, welches imstande sein sollte, es mit den ganz Großen aus dem Metier aufzunehmen!

So verfügen METALWINGS mit der klassisch ausgebildeten Frontfrau Stela Atanasova über eine exquisite Sängerin. Mit ihrer glockenhellen und betörend femininen, operettenhaften Stimme ragt sie hoch aus der Masse des Genres heraus. Mit ihrer Violine zaubert die gefühlvolle Vokalistin ebenso magische Klangmomente.
Der hymnisch-melodische und episch erhebende CLASSIC SYMPHONIC METAL der Formation aus Sofia vereint qualitativ feinste Elemente aus dem Bereich der Klassik und der zeitlosen Welt der Oper. Dass solche Musik auch überaus kraftvoll sein kann, ohne sich in übermäßige Härtegrade zu begeben, beweisen die Bulgaren mit absoluter künstlerischer Bravour. Knackig addierte, souverän gespielte Rock-Nuancen sorgen dabei ebenfalls für ausgiebigen Hörgenuss.

Gegründet im Jahr 2010

Gegründet von Geschmacksmensch Stela im Jahr 2010, hatte diese von Anfang an eine klare musikalische Vision im Sinn, was die eingängigen Lieder so kompakt, homogen, kompositorisch vollendet und insgesamt meisterlich werden lässt. 

Nach sehr erfolgreichen Konzerten und sehr viel Zuspruch in der Heimat produzierten METALWINGS das oben zu sehende Musikvideo. Der Erfolg ist ebenso überragend wie überraschend. Im Mai 2016 veröffentlichten METALWINGS nach einigen Single-Releases ihre Debüt-EP „Fallen Angel In The Hell“. Hierauf zeigen sie mit vier vorzüglichen Kompositionen überzeugend auf, was ihre eigene Definition von romantischer Metal-Schönheit ist.
