IMMINENCE – „Heaven In Hiding“ Review

Metalcore

IMMINENCE (Facebook) aus Schweden werden an diesem Freitag (26.11) ihr Album „Heaven In Hiding“ über das Label ‚Arising Empire‘ veröffentlichen. Es erwartet Euch feinster Metalcore, der grundsätzlich in Richtung ARCHITECTS oder SPIRITBOX geht. Soll bedeuten, dass es hier nicht nur heftig zur Sache geht, sondern Melodie und Gefühl nicht zu kurz kommen. So ergibt sich auch bei IMMINENCE ein sehr stimmungsträchtiges Album, dass es in sich hat.

Eine Ausnahmeband

sind IMMINENCE auf jeden Fall. Ihr Sound hat etwas ganz eigenes. Dies liegt unter anderem daran, dass Sänger Eddie Berg neben den Vocals den Sound noch mit seiner Violine bereichert. Und dies ist im Bereich Metalcore wohl durchaus als Besonderheit zu werten. Aber keine Sorge. Der Sound mutiert dadurch aber nicht zum Symphonic Metalcore. Davon könnte Ihr Euch gleich noch einmal bei der ersten Single „Temptation“ überzeugen. Ein richtig fettes Kaliber, dass IMMINENCE da abgeschossen haben. „Temptation“ ist ein knallharter Monstersong, der die bisherigen Soundstandards von IMMINENCE mit einem neuen Härtegrad pulverisiert.

Ein unglaublicher Song, der mit zu den Besten zählt, was ich dieses Jahr hören durfte. Eddie brüllt mit einer wahnsinnigen Energie seine Wut und Verzweiflung hinaus. Diese Shouts bersten nur so von Gefühlen, so dass ich Eddie jedes Wort abnehme und spüre, was seine Kehle in beeindruckender Weise verlässt. Die wunderbar eingewobenen Klänge der Violine sind in der erbarmungslosen Welt von „Temptation“ ein Sinnbild von fesselnder Melancholie. So ist dies ein sehr ergreifender Song mit einer gnadenlosen Intensität, die niemanden kalt lässt. Als Krönung wurde dieser Song mit einem cineastischen Video in Szene gesetzt. Und ich würde mal sagen, dass die unglaublichen 1,5 Mio Klicks für sich selber sprechen!

Die innere Dunkelheit

ist die angsteinflößendste Erscheinung, die sich auf das Herz und die Seele niederlegen kann und in einem unerbittlichen Würgegriff das Leben und das Glück rauszupressen versucht. Viel Kraft gepaart mit einem starken Willen sind nötig, um sich aus der grausamen dunklen Umarmung zu befreien. Familie und Freunde sind dabei von immenser Bedeutung, um die Kraft nicht zu verlieren. Doch auch die Musik ist ein heilsamer Freund, der in solchen belastenden Zeiten helfen kann. Eddie nutzt die Musik, um die Dunkelheit aus sich rauszulassen. Er schreit sie mit aller Wucht aus sich heraus. So bleibt „Temptation“ nicht der einzige Song mit dem ausgelassenen Härtegrad. So geht der Opener „Ghost“ nach dem Intro genauso in die Vollen und lässt es ordentlich krachen.

Häufig gehen bei IMMINENCE massive Härte Hand in Hand mit tollen melodischen Hooks. Eine gesunde Mischung, von der man sich beim nächsten Video ein Bild machen kann. In dem Video werden gleich zwei Songs verarbeitet, und zwar „Chasing Shadows“ und „Alleviate“, wobei erstgenannter deutlich härtere Anteile aufweist und „Alleviate“ epischer zur Sache geht.

Melodische und ergreifende Momente

mit gefühlvollen Darbietungen werden auf dem Album bei vielen Gelegenheiten enthüllt. Jeder Song offenbart seinen ganz eigenen Charakter. Das Album geht einen bestimmten Weg. Es beginnt sehr hart und entwickelt sich nach und nach zu einer mehr und mehr gefühlvollen Angelegenheit, die ihren Abschluss im Titelsong „Heaven In Hiding“ findet. Dabei zeigen sich auf der Reise sogar ganz ungewöhnliche Kostbarkeiten. So hat mich z.B. der Song „In Niz Bogzarad“ total überrascht. Diese unheimlich atmosphärische Inszenierung hat mich ganz behutsam eingefangen, ganz ohne Wut und Kraft, einfach nur mit einer überwältigenden Welle von Gefühl. Die Begleitung des Gesangs mit einem klassischen Zupfinstrument, der charmanten Violine und sphärischen Drums ist wirklich zauberhaft. Es folgt ein rein akustisches Zwischenspiel mit „Intermission“, in dem nur Eddie und seine Violine zu hören sind. Ein sehr schöner Übergang zum Abschlusstrack „Heaven In Hiding“

„Heaven In Hiding“ ist ruhig und melancholisch umgesetzt worden. Hier glänzt Eddie mit seinem zarten melodischen Gesang voller gefühlvoller Hingabe. Der bedächtige Song hat aber noch eine unerwartete Überraschung im Schlepptau. Die will ich hier aber nicht verraten, denn ihr solltet Euch das Video dafür ansehen. Es lohnt sich!

Fazit

Eines muss man IMMINENCE lassen. Sie zeichnen sich nicht nur durch hochklassige Musik aus, sondern überlassen auch bei den Videos nichts dem Zufall. Diese sind durch die Bank absolut hochwertig produziert worden. IMMINENCE vollbringen das Kunststück Härte mit Gefühl zu vereinen und ihrem Sound noch eine ganz eigene Note zu verleihen. Sie schwimmen damit jedenfalls ganz oben in der Liga der großen Bands mit.

IMMINENCE haben mit „Heaven In Hiding“ ein sehr ausgereiftes Album erschaffen, dass konzeptionell sehr gut umgesetzt wurde. Es ist ein rundum stimmiges Album, das auf viele Arten ein ergreifendes emotionales Erlebnis darstellt. Damit wird es dem Hörer auf beeindruckende Weise nachhaltig im Gedächtnis bleiben.

You can expect finest Metalcore, which basically goes in the direction of ARCHITECTS or SPIRITBOX. It should mean that it is not only violent to the point, but melody and feeling do not come too short. So also IMMINENCE results in a very atmospheric album that has a lot to offer.

An exceptional band

are IMMINENCE in any case. Their sound has something very own. Among other things, this is due to the fact that singer Eddie Berg enriches the sound with his violin in addition to the vocals. And this is in the field of metalcore probably quite a specialty. But do not worry. The sound does not mutate into symphonic metalcore. You can convince yourself of that right away with the first single „Temptation“. „Temptation“ is a hard-hitting monster song that pulverizes the previous sound standards of IMMINENCE with a new level of hardness.

An incredible song that is one of the best I’ve heard this year. Eddie roars out his rage and desperation with an insane energy. These shouts just burst with emotion, so that I take every word from Eddie and feel what leaves his throat in an impressive way. The wonderfully interwoven sounds of the violin are emblematic of captivating melancholy in the merciless world of „Temptation.“ Thus, this is a very poignant song with a merciless intensity that leaves no one cold. To top it off, this song was staged with a cinematic video. And I would say that the incredible 1.5 million clicks speak for themselves!

The inner darkness

is the most frightening phenomenon that can settle on the heart and soul, trying to squeeze out life and happiness in a relentless stranglehold. A lot of strength coupled with a strong will are needed to free oneself from the cruel dark embrace. Family and friends are of immense importance in this process in order not to lose strength. But music is also a healing friend that can help in such times. Eddie uses music to let the darkness out of him. He screams it out of himself with all his might. Thus, „Temptation“ is not the only song with the exuberant harshness. So the opener „Ghost“ goes after the intro just as into the full and lets it crash properly.

Often IMMINENCE massive hardness go hand in hand with great melodic hooks. A healthy mixture, of which you can get an idea in the next video. In the video two songs are processed, namely „Chasing Shadows“ and „Alleviate“, whereby the former has clearly harder parts and „Alleviate“ is more epic.

Melodic and poignant moments

with soulful performances are revealed on the album on many occasions. Each song reveals its own unique character. The album follows a certain path. It starts very hard and gradually develops into a more and more soulful affair, which finds its conclusion in the title track „Heaven In Hiding“. In the process, even quite unusual treasures reveal themselves on the journey. For example, the song „In Niz Bogzarad“ totally surprised me. This incredibly atmospheric performance captured me very gently, without any anger or power, just an overwhelming wave of feeling. The accompaniment of the vocals with a classical plucked instrument, the charming violin and spherical drums is truly magical. An all-acoustic interlude follows with „Intermission,“ featuring only Eddie and his violin. A very nice transition to the closing track „Heaven In Hiding“.

Title track „Heaven In Hiding“ has been implemented quiet and melancholic. Here Eddie shines with his soft melodic vocals with gentle soulful devotion. The thoughtful song, however, has an unexpected surprise in tow. But I don’t want to reveal it here, because you should watch the video for it. It’s worth it!

Conclusion

One thing you have to give IMMINENCE credit for. Not only do they stand out with their top-class music. They are producing absolutely high-quality cinematic videos. IMMINENCE accomplish the feat of combining hardness with emotion. In addition, they give the music a very unique touch. They are surely in the top league of great bands.

IMMINENCE have created a very mature album with „Heaven In Hiding“ that was conceptually very well implemented. It is an all-around coherent album, which is in many ways a poignant emotional experience. Thus, it will remain in the memory of the listener in an impressive way sustainable.
