(english review below)
Genre: Metalcore / Modern Metal
Release: 24.05.’24
Label: East Haven Records
„Guide You“ geht in eine ganz andere Richtung.

Lost in the digital world?
The new album „Hunters & Collectors“ by ARRIVING HOME (Facebook/Homepage) from Germany was released today. In terms of content, the band takes a critical look at the hyper-fast development of the digital world and its consequences for humanity, which also harbors dangers. The band can best say something about the thematic background themselves:
It’s easy to get lost in the modern digital world and lose sight of the essentials. It is important to realize that real life takes place beyond the screen and that real fulfillment can only be achieved through real experiences. It is our task to show our children a way to combine these two worlds in a meaningful way.
Comment of the band about the album
One of the most fundamental and difficult tasks of our time.
This idea gave rise to the album cover. It shows a man using his smartphone to photograph a work of art that is already lost in bits and bytes. A symbol of the fact that everything that once endured is now fast-moving and fleeting. A helpless attempt to capture something that used to be important.
Two eras are combined in one picture. The painting as a symbol of the past in which the hunting and collecting values, memories and experiences was a long, arduous process.
The smartphone as a symbol of modernity, characterized by fast pace and abundance.
ARRIVING HOME belong to the category of metalcore bands that work with the contrast of extreme and clean vocals. It is a sound full of brutal energy, but also with pleasing, beautiful melodies. ARRIVING HOME romp mercilessly on this playground and show a pleasant creativity in their sound.
The band goes full throttle. Atmospheric synths introduce the opener, and after just a short time, the musical steel hammer is swung. „Sickness“ delivers a heavy affair. Singer André Unterberg has an excellent command of the vocals. He even uses different types and degrees of extreme vocals. It’s dark and powerful, but André isn’t afraid to heat up the sound with nagging screams.
The songwriting is very dynamic. Flowing, fast-paced rhythm changes are practically a matter of course. In addition to many groovy passages, the sound is often brutally driven forward. There’s definitely plenty of fuel for the moshpit rocket. I can promise you that. ‚“The Legend“ runs like hell, but also blows you away with hard breakdowns. Add to that a few melodic vocal lines and you’ve got yourself a gloomy banger.
brutal, melodic, energetic
The sound is atmospherically accompanied by synths. It’s a nice gimmick that provides small, subtle accents here and there. The lead guitar is also responsible for subtle accents and more, adding melodic embellishments to the fat riffing. From time to time there is even a nice guitar solo to be heard, for example on the song „My Pride“.
The spirited title track „Hunters & Collectors“ does things a little differently in the great chorus, which is sung melodically but still with a strong power. This makes this song stand out. I like it when I can differentiate between songs on an album, and not just because of the different lyrics. ARRIVING HOME manage to do this well on the album, but basically they stay on the same concept.
„Guide You“ goes in a completely different direction again. By ARRIVING HOME standards, it begins very harmoniously, almost ballad-like. However, the song shows its sharp claws as it progresses and leaves bloody wounds in its wake. This is a development that I would not have predicted, and something like this is always exciting. It’s one of the most atmospheric tracks on the album. So you can tell that there is a nice variance on the album.
Conclusion
ARRIVING HOME deliver a really strong album with „Hunters & Collectors“. The band doesn’t allow itself any lulls or weaknesses on the album. They are all very strong songs, with some standing out in particular. All in all, the songs are brutally unrestrained, but not without melodic embellishments. This material can definitely burn any stage. With their debut full-length album „Hunters & Collectors“, ARRIVING HOME recommend themselves directly and undoubtedly for the top league of the German metalcore scene.
