ORBIT CULTURE-„Descent“ Review
(english review below)
Genre: Melodic Death Metal

So durfte mein Redaktionskollege Soundchaser ORBIT CULTURE live in Köln bewundern.

„From The Inside“ ist die zweite Single,
„From The Inside“ vereint alle Spielarten der Band.

ORBIT CULTURE-„Descent“ Review
Genre: Melodic Death Metal
Label: Seek & Strike Records
Release: 18.08.2023
ORBIT CULTURE (Homepage/Facebook) from Sweden are for me one of the few bands that managed to inspire me with every album. Since I write for ‚metal-heads.de‘, I had the honor to review both albums: „Nija“ (Review 2020) and the EP „Shaman“ (Review 2021). Both got full 10 points. Also the albums before „Nija“ were already of exquisite quality. Therefore I was very happy that I was allowed to do an interview with frontman Niklas in October 2021.
I predicted back then that the band is a rising star in the metal cosmos and it wouldn’t take long before they became a hot glowing sun. And in my opinion they are on the best way and it is long overdue that they get the success they deserve. And to play as an opening band for the worldwide known band AMON AMARTH is already a really cool thing.
So my editorial colleague Soundchaser was allowed to admire ORBIT CULTURE live in Cologne. And also he seemed to be very impressed and had only praising words for the music and the live qualities of the Swedes (concert review).
On August 18, the new album „Descent“ of this fascinating band will be released. Even if the first albums were already very good, ORBIT CULTURE had created a new unique sound with „Nija“, which you can definitely call individual and immediately hear out. And so much we can already anticipate:
ORBIT CULTURE stay mighty!
Already eleven months ago the single „Vultures of The North“ was released, so long before now the release of the new album was imminent. There already one thing became clear: It will be even more violent! ORBIT CULTURE continued to search for dark powerful demons and found them! Ten of them will haunt you on „Descent“. The statement of singer Niklas also fits to this:
We wanted this album to sound as big and aggressive as possible, but at the same time provide an enjoyable listening experience. I was very inspired by the movie Dune, not because of the story or anything, but because the combination of images and music created this massive image, and we wanted to convey that epic feeling with this new album.

ORBIT CULTRUE have fulfilled their mission 100%. And if you already thought with the previous albums sounds so damn massive and fat, then you will be surprised with the new album. Unbelievable, but true!
It is sheer madness what kind of impact the sound releases. It seems as if all the forces of nature unite to form monumental demonic monsters that inexorably tread their destructive path.
ORBIT CULTURE have always been known for their high quality.
And they prove this once again with this album. The dark ominous intro first leads you into the sound world of ORBIT CULTURE. „Black Mountain“ then rises with such a tremendous grandeur that makes you recoil in awe. As usual, the drums are phenomenal and a very concise feature. ORBIT CULTURE sound with a force and vehemence that is always present, no matter at what pace drummer Christopher acts. It always sounds mighty brutal! It can stomp you or blow you away.
The fascinating thing about the synphony of destruction, besides its violence, is the beauty of it all. ORBIT CULTURE compose their songs very skillfully in this respect. There is always room for melodic and atmospheric components, so that there is no risk of being overwhelmed or bored. You can follow the songs at any time and there are also some recovery phases built in here and there.
In this respect, the last track „Through Time“ certainly offers the quietest moments on the album. A colossal ballad that stands out no less gigantic than the other songs. A poignant end to an overwhelming journey!
But let’s come to a song that combines all facets of ORBIT CULTURE.
„From The Inside“ is the second single,
which was a long time coming. Already the first notes characteristically open the world of ORBIT CULTURE. The synths, the concise riffs, the drums and the vocals are simply unmistakably ORBIT CULTURE. Singer Niklas simply has all what someone could wish for. He can shine with every vocal style, no matter if it’s the extreme or the clean vocals. The atmospheric density captures you.
„From The Inside“ unites all styles of the band. It includes melodic powerful parts, just like the destructive violent outbursts to quiet atmospheric oases. This is another perfect song and not one bit less. ORBIT CULTURE have created their very own world of epic sound. Damn awesome!
Conclusion
I expected a lot from the new album and was not disappointed in the least.
ORBIT CULTURE unleash with „Descent“ an epic sound of hell that turns everything into dust with sheer unbridled energy. It feels like all the brute forces of nature unite to form a massive wild monster that strikes the world with 10 overwhelming demonic songs.
Therefore I would say that ORBIT CULTURE have fulfilled their mission 100%. And thus I have no choice but to award ORBIT CULTURE 10 points once again. With this they actually make the 10’s triple perfect. Why not! They have more than deserved it.
