CROSSPLANE (Facebook) sind eine waschechte Ruhrpott Rock’n Roll Band, die sich 2009 gegründet haben. Frontmann/Gitarrist Celli und Gitarrist Alex sind noch von der alten Garde. Nach den ersten drei Alben gab es den neuen Schlagzeuger Mark ‘Bridgeman’ Brückmann und 2017 ersetzte Andrew Barrett den langjährigen Dirk Massing. Die Band hat sich seit der Gründung nie auf die faule Haut gelegt und sich immer als Live Band verstanden. Dementsprechend haben sie sich den Arsch abgerockt und können auf unzählige Auftritte zurückblicken, bei denen sie auch international unterwegs gewesen sind. So haben sich CROSSPLANE einen guten Bekanntheitsgrad und eine beachtliche treue Fangemeinde erspielt.

Mit frischer Energie

hat man nun fünf Jahre nach dem letzten Album „Backyard Fenzy“ das neue Album zusammengezimmert. Man hat sich bewusst länger Zeit gelassen und dann kam noch der Zeitbonus dank Corona dazu. Und das Warten hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt! Denn das neue Album hat richtig Schmackes! Bereits die vergangenen Alben konnten mit authentischem astreinen Rock’n Roll glänzen und wer die Band lediglich auf Ähnlichkeiten mit MOTÖRHEAD redzuziert, der wird der Band nicht gerecht. Auch wenn diese natürlich vorhanden und auch von der Band beabsichtigt sind, so bieten sie doch mehr als das. Als Vorgeschmack aber nun ein Song, der in der Tat von MOTÖRHEAD nicht besser hätte klingen können. „Rock’n Roll Will Never Die“ ist die Devise!

Das neue Album „Fastlane“

schlägt mit 11 hammermäßigen Tracks auf Euch ein. Passenderweise ist auf dem coolen Cover vom Künstler Axel Herman eine geballte vorschnellende Faust zu sehen, auf deren Finger die Gesichter der Band gebannt sind. Das sieht mega aus und schreit nach T-Shirt-Merch, was man sich besorgen muss. Was sofort auffällt, ist der Sound. Der hat sich gegenüber den Vorgängern erheblich verbessert. Im direkten Vergleich wird dies besonders deutlich. Die Songs preschen mit unheimlicher Wucht aus den Boxen. Auch die Gitarren klingen viel fetter und detailfreudiger. Den Bass kann man deutlich spüren und das Schlagzeug hat enormen Wumms und Bumms.

Türen eintreten statt Anklopfen

Wenn CROSSPLANE loslegen, dann wird nicht vorsichtig mit einem Intro angeklopft! Da fliegt der Stiefel in die Tür, die Tür fliegt aus den Angeln und rumms…. es knallt direkt und man gibt Vollgas!

Der Stiefel kommt auf „Fastlane“ in Form des Openers „Can’t Get You Out Of My Head“, der ohne Umschweife zur Sache kommt. Tatsächlich musste ich bei diesem Titel auch an den Megahit von Kylie Minogue aus dem Jahr 2001 denken. Aber es ist kein Cover, sondern nur eine zufällige Übereinstimmung des Titels. Gemeinsam ist den Songs aber, dass er ein echter Ohrwurm ist. Bei mit hat sich der flotte Rocker sofort im Gehirn eingenistet.

Eine weitere Besonderheit ist zudem, dass tatsächlich eine weibliche Stimme im Song zu hören ist, wenn auch nur kurz. Das ist ein Novum in der Bandgeschichte. Es klingt echt cool und man muss keine Sorge haben, dass sich CROSSPLANE nun ne Ladung Weichspüler reingekippt haben. Der Song ist ne harte Nummer und die kleine Passage mit der Sängerin Conny Schmitt hat mich sofort an den Song „Temple Of Love“ von SISTERS OF MERCY erinnert. Dies zeigt eben, dass auch CROSSPLANE über den Tellerrand schauen und sich nicht auf knallengen musikalischen Wegen bewegen. Ab und zu schweift man gerne mal ein wenig ab und bietet ne andere Erfahrung. Ich erinnere dabei gerne auch an die doomigen Ausflüge der Band, siehe z.B. „Blackness Of Souls“vom letzten Album.

„Fastlane“ bietet eine ganze Armada von diesen geilen eingängigen Rocksongs, die dir nen Arschtritt verpassen, den man so schnell nicht vergisst. Auch „All Hell Is Breaking Loose“ gehört zweifelsfrei dazu. Viel Spaß damit!

Na so was! Celli singt clean!

Man mag es kaum glauben, aber Sänger Celli lässt am Ende des Albums auch mal seine cleane Stimme erklingen. Dafür fährt der letzte Song „Black Is My Blue Sky“ das Tempo runter und der Song hat so einen doomigen Touch und sogar der Blues scheint hier und da durch. Eine richtig coole Powerballade, wo der cleane Gesang durchaus passt und lässig rüberkommt. Da ergeben sich also noch viele Möglichkeiten im Sound von CROSSPLANE. „Black Is My Blue Sky“ zaubert am Ende noch mal seinen seinen ganz eigenen Charme hervor.

Erfrischend prickelnd und es knallt

gelangen all die anderen Songs in die Ohren; einerseits vergleichbar mit einem kühlen spritzigen Bier an einem heißen Sommertag, welches eiskalt erfrischend die Kehle runterfließt und andererseits knallt es so geschmackvoll und intensiv wie beispielsweise ein gut gemixter Longdrink. Klar ist also: die Songs knallen voll durch und machen Party. Sie regen maximal zur Kehlenbefeuchtung an. Aber wenn man mal intensiv und genauer hinhört, fallen einem viele kleine Details auf, mit denen CROSSPLANE den Sound verfeinert haben. Mir ist dabei besonders die Lead- Gitarre aufgefallen, die sich immer wieder mit tollen Solos und Akkorden hervortut. Aber es wird auch mit anderen Methoden gearbeitet, die den grundlegend stringenten Sound wohltuend auflockern und abwechslungsreich werden lassen.

Fazit

CROSSPLANE gehen den nächsten großen Schritt und hauen mit „Fastlane“ mal einen richtig fetten Kracher raus. Nein! Genauer gesagt hauen sie 11 Kracher raus, die eine neue Ära einläuten. Sie perfektionieren dabei weiter ihren Sound und sprühen dabei vor Spielwitz und Spielfreude, was einen von vorne bis hinten begeistert. Die Songs klopfen nicht höflich an, sondern treten mit Schmackes die Tür ein, reißen Euch von der Couch und kicken Euch zur Vollgas-Rock’n Roll-Tour!

Ich bin wirklich der Meinung, dass man diese Musik nicht besser umsetzen kann. „Fastlane“ ist ein wahres Freudenfest für Fans dieser Musik und von daher gibt es die volle Punktzahl. Zack!Bumm!Fertig!

CROSSPLANE (Facebook) are a real Rock’n Roll band, which were founded in 2009. Frontman/guitarist Celli and guitarist Alex are still from the old guard. After the first three albums, there was new drummer Mark ‚Bridgeman‘ Brückmann and in 2017 Andrew Barrett replaced longtime Dirk Massing. The band has never been lazy since its inception and has always considered itself a live band. Accordingly, they have rocked their asses off and can look back on countless gigs where they have also been on the road internationally. Thus, CROSSPLANE have earned a good reputation and a great loyal fan base.

With fresh energy

the new album was put together five years after the last album „Backyard Fenzy“. One has deliberately left himself longer time and then came the time bonus thanks to Corona in addition. And the wait was definitely worth it! Because the new album has a lot of power! Already the past albums could shine with authentic Rock’n Roll and who reduce the band only on similarities with MOTÖRHEAD, that does not do justice to the band. Even if these are of course present and also intended by the band, they offer more than that. As a foretaste, however, now a song that indeed could not have sounded better from MOTÖRHEAD. „Rock’n Roll Will Never Die“ is the mission!

The new album „Fastlane“

hits you with 11 awesome tracks. Fittingly, the cool coverartwork by artist Axel Herman features a clenched fist with the band’s faces on its fingers. This looks so hot and screams t-shirt merch, which you have to get. What immediately stands out is the sound. This has improved considerably compared to the predecessors. In direct comparison, this becomes especially clear. The songs burst out of the speakers with incredible force. The guitars also sound more powerful and more detailed. You can clearly feel the bass and the drums have an enormous boom.

Kicking down doors instead of knocking

When CROSSPLANE get going, there’s no careful knocking with an intro! There flies the boot in the door, the door flies off and boom…. it bangs directly and you give full throttle!

The first kick comes on „Fastlane“ in the form of the opener „Can’t Get You Out Of My Head“, which gets down to business without beating around the bush. In fact, this track also made me think of Kylie Minogue’s 2001 megahit. But it’s not a cover, just a random match of the title. But what the songs have in common is that it is a real catchy tune. With me, the snappy rocker has immediately nested in the brain.

Another special feature is also that a female voice is actually heard in the song, even if only briefly. This is a novelty in the band’s history. It sounds really cool and you don’t have to worry that CROSSPLANE have now poured themselves a load of fabric softener. The song is a hard rocker and the small passage with the singer Conny Schmitt reminded me immediately of the song „Temple Of Love“ of SISTERS OF MERCY. This just shows that CROSSPLANE also think outside the box and do not move on narrow musical paths. From time to time they like to digress a bit and offer a different experience. I like to remember the doomy excursions of the band, see for example „Blackness Of Souls“ from the last album.

„Fastlane“ offers a whole armada of these awesome catchy rock songs that give you an ass-kicking you won’t forget in a hurry. „All Hell Is Breaking Loose“ is without a doubt one of them. Have fun with it.

What the hell is going on? Celli sings clean!

It’s hard to believe, but singer Celli lets his clean voice sound at the end of the album. For this, the last song „Black Is My Blue Sky“ drives down the tempo and the song has such a doomy touch and even the blues shines through here and there. A really cool power ballad, where the clean vocals fit quite well and comes across casually. So there are still many possibilities in the sound of CROSSPLANE. „Black Is My Blue Sky“ conjures up its very own charm on this awesome album at the end.

Refreshingly sparkling and it slams

all the other songs reach the ears; on the one hand comparable to a cool sparkling beer on a hot summer day, which flows ice-cold refreshing down the throat and on the other hand it bangs as tasty and intense as a well-mixed long drink. So this is clear: the songs bang through and make party. But if you listen intensively and more closely, you will notice many small details with which CROSSPLANE have refined the sound. I especially noticed the lead guitar, which always stands out with great solos and chords. But it is also worked with other methods, which loosen up the fundamentally stringent sound pleasantly and let it become varied.

Conclusion

CROSSPLANE take the next big step and release with „Fastlane“ a really fat banger. No, to be more precise, they release 11 bangers, which probably herald a new era. They continue to perfect their sound and sparkle with playfulness and joy, which carries you away from front to back. The song does not knock politely, but kicks in the door with force, tear you off the couch to the Full- Throttle-Rock’n Roll-Tour!

I think that this kind of Rock’n Roll music cannot be realized better. „Fastlane“ is a real joy and from that there is the full score from me.
