GIRISH AND THE CHRONICLES – „Hail To The Heroes“

Hardrock

Dieses Jahr hatte mich schon eine Band aus Indien mehr als begeistert. BLOODYWOOD haben mit ihrem energischen Folk-Metalcore auf dem Album „Rakshak“ fantastisch abgeliefert. GIRISH AND THE CHRONICLES (Facebook) sind nicht weniger energiegeladen, doch sie toben sich in einem ganz anderen Sektor aus, nämlich im Hard-/Glamrock! Das Album ist schon eine kleine Weile (Februar ’22) auf dem Markt, aber ich habe das Album „Hail To The Heroes“ erst später entdeckt. Doch es hat mich sofort dermaßen begeistert, dass ich mir die schöne Vinyl gekauft habe und ich unbedingt etwas darüber schreiben wollte.

Legenden nacheifern

und einfach mal die Glanzzeiten des Glam Rock aufleben lassen ohne nur eine Kopie der damaligen Legenden zu sein. SKID ROW und Konsorten haben es damals vorgemacht und eine Ära geprägt. Dieser Sound ist zwischenzeitlich ein wenig in Vergessenheit geraten, aber zur Zeit erfährt dieser geile Rocksound eine Renaissance. Viele Bands besinnen sich der schönen alten Zeiten und legen den Sound neu auf und verpassen ihm die Technik und das Feuer des neuen Jahrhunderts. Wie geil das funktioniert, zeigen uns GIRISH AND THE CHRONICLES!

Ohne Aufwärmprogramm

geht es direkt ohne Umschweife los! „Primeval Desire“ macht sofort eines ganz klar deutlich. Die Jungs haben irre viel Power und Engergie. Keine Ahnung, ob die täglich Batterien lutschen, aber die Band feuert eine elektrisierende Soundgranate nach der anderen ab. Das Tempo ist schon zu Beginn ordentlich hoch. Die fetzigen Riffs fliegen Euch um die Ohren und die raue Megaröhre von Sänger Girish Pradhan passt hervorragend zum Sound. Was für eine Power-Voice! Man wird dirket von der ersten Sekunde mitgerissen. Den Bass hat man hier auch sehr lieb und dieser spielt sich mal gerne in den Vordergrund, was bei diesem Song auch mal zu einem kleinen aber geilen Basssolo führt. Damit punktet man bei mir bekanntermaßen auf jeden Fall. Und dieses Phänomen wird Euch nicht nur bei diesem Song begegnen.

Explosiv melodisch

Es ist egal, in welchen Song man reinhört, denn es ist immer energiegeladen und explosiv (wenn man mal von den wenigen gefühlvollen Balladenpassagen absieht). Die Jungs flippen einfach total aus und leben ihre Musik so famos aus, dass sich diese Energie und Spielfreude ohne Umwege auf den Hörer überträgt. Man fängt Feuer und hört gar nicht mehr auf zu brennen. „I’m Not The Devil“ fegt wie ein Steppenbrand voran und macht richtig Dampf. Immer wieder fallen die geilen fantastischen Gitarrenleads und Solos auf, die ebenfalls jeden Song zu einem feurigen Erlebnis werden lassen. Bemerkenswert ist die farbenfrohe Palette von Songs, die durchweg andere Hörerlebnisse bieten und jeder Song seine eigenes Charisma versprüht. Die Vocal-Lines sind ideenreich umgesetzt.

„Love’s Damnation“ ist ein super melodische Hymne mit viel Kraft, wogegen man bei „Lover’s Train“ dann eher die sanftere Schiene fährt, was an den wunderbaren leichteren Passagen liegt, in denen Sänger Girish hervorragend seine gefühlvolle Seite zeigt. Und auch diese weiß voll und ganz zu überzeugen. Es ist toll anzuhören, wie er plötzlich in seine krafftvolle Stimme wechselt. Auch wenn ich mich wiederhole, aber das Zusammenspiel zwischen Bass (Yogesh Pradhan) und Gitarre (Suraz Sun) sorgt laufend für grandiose Höhepunkte. Dazu höre man sich nur den Song „Rock ’n‘ Roll Jack“ an. Meine Fresse…. Ist das ein geil gemachter Instrumentalpart! Erst ein zünftiges Gitarrensolo, was dann in einem coolen Übergang zu einem irren Basssolo führt. Phänomenal!

Der Titesong „Hail To The Heroes“ wird mit einem atmosphärischen cleanen Gitarrenintro eingeleitet. Der eigentliche Song beginnt dann zunächst recht zurückhaltend, aber legt natürlich im Verlauf auch mal einen Zahn zu.

Wahnsinn

Vor meinem Fazit möchte ich noch auf die Überballade „Heaven’s Crying“ eingehen, die mit über sechs Minuten Spielzeit recht üppig ausfällt. Auch hier lässt sich feststellen, dass sie sich immer was einfallen lassen, um mehr als das Standardprogramm zu bieten. Diese Monsterballade ist ein heldenhafte Hymne, die epische Sphären erreicht. Man bedienst sich hier sogar symphonischer Klänge, die den epischen Charakter zusätzlich verstärken. Eigentlich wäre das für mich der perfekte Abschluss des Albums gewesen, doch dann schießt die Band noch nen flotten Kracher hinterher. Das fand ich tatsächlich merkwürdig, aber was solls. Ich komme zum

Fazit

diese erstklassigen Albums. Für meinen Geschmack ist „Hail To The Heroes“ in diesem Jahr das beste Album, was in diesem Bereich rausgebracht wurde. Somit sind GIRISH AND THE CHRONICLES dieses Jahr die zweite indische Band, die mich aus den Socken gehauen hat. „Hail To The Heroes“ ist eine beeindruckende Demonstration von berauschendem Hard- bzw. Glamrock, der mit unheimlich viel Dynamik und Power umgesetzt wurde. Dabei sprühen die Jungs nicht nur vor Energie, sondern sind auch voller pfiffiger Ideen, die immer wieder für Abwechslung und Begeisterung sorgen. Solch ein Highlight kann ich persönlich nur mit vollen 10 Punkten bewerten.

English Review

Hardrock

This year I was already more than thrilled by a band from India. BLOODYWOOD with their energetic Folk-Metalcore delivered fantastically. GIRISH AND THE CHRONICLES (Facebook) are no less energetic, but they romp around in a completely different sector, namely Hard-/Glam rock! The album has been on the market for a little while, but I discovered the album „Hail To The Heroes“ only later. But it immediately excited me so much that I bought the beautiful vinyl and I really wanted to write something about it.

Emulate legends

and simply revive the glory days of Glam Rock without being a copy of the legends of that time. SKID ROW and consorts have done it back then and shaped an era. This sound has been a little forgotten in the meantime, but at the moment this cool rock sound is experiencing a renaissance. Many bands remember the good old times and put the sound new and give it the technology and the fire of the new century. GIRISH AND THE CHRONICLES show us how cool this works!

No warmup

it goes directly without further ado! „Primeval Desire“ immediately makes one thing very clear. The guys have insane power and energy. No idea if they suck batteries every day, but the band fires one electrifying sound grenade after the other.The tempo is already high at the beginning. The groovy riffs fly around your ears and the rough super-voice of singer Girish Pradhan fits perfectly to the sound. What a power voice! You are carried away from the first second. The bass is also very dominant here. In this song there is also a small but cool bass solo. As is well known, this definitely scores points with me. And this phenomenon you will not only encounter in this song.

Explosive melodic

It doesn’t matter which song you listen to, because it’s always energetic and explosive (if you disregard the few soulful ballad passages). The guys just totally freak out and live out their music so famously that this energy and joy of playing is transferred directly to the listener. You catch fire and can’t stop burning for this damn hot songs. „I’m Not The Devil“ sweeps forward like a steppe fire and makes real steam. Again and again the awesome fantastic guitar leads and solos stand out, which also make every song a fiery experience. Remarkable is the colorful palette of songs that consistently offer different listening experiences and each song exudes its own charisma. The vocal lines are realized in a manifold way.

„Love’s Damnation“ is a super melodic anthem with a lot of power, whereas „Lover’s Train“ is a softer track, which is due to the wonderful lighter passages, in which singer Girish shows his soulful side. And this also knows how to convince completely. It’s great to listen to how he suddenly changes into his powerful voice. Even if I repeat myself, but the interplay between bass (Yogesh Pradhan) and guitar (Suraz Sun) constantly provides for terrific highlights. Just listen to the song „Rock ’n‘ Roll Jack“. Damn it…. What a cool instrumental part! First a proper guitar solo, which then leads in a cool transition to a crazy bass solo. Phenomenal!

The title track „Hail To The Heroes“ is introduced with an atmospheric clean guitar intro. The actual song starts quite restrained at first, but of course picks up a gear in the course.

Awesome

Before my conclusion comes, I would like to mention the great ballad „Heaven’s Crying“, which is quite lush with over six minutes of playing time. Also here it can be stated that they always come up with something to offer more than standard. This mighty ballad is a heroic anthem that reaches epic spheres. They even make use of symphonic sounds here, which additionally strengthen the epic character. Actually, this would have been the perfect conclusion of the album for me, but then the band shoots another snappy firecracker behind. I actually found that strange, but what the heck. I come to my

conclusion

of this first class album. For my taste, so far this year „Hail To The Heroes“ is the best album that has been released in this sector. So GIRISH AND THE CHRONICLES are the second Indian band this year that has knocked my socks off. „Hail To The Heroes“ is an impressive demonstration of intoxicating hard or glam rock, which was implemented with an incredible amount of dynamics and power. The guys are not only bursting with energy, but are also full of smart ideas, which provide variety and enthusiasm again and again. Such a highlight I can personally only rate with full 10 points.
