Die junge Band NEVER OBEY AGAIN (Facebook) aus Italien wurden hier bei ‚metal-heads.de‘ bereits vorgestellt. Seinerzeit hatte ich prophezeit, dass die junge Band ein Hit wird (Artikel). Nun steht das Debütalbum „The Ende Of An Era“ kurz vor dem Release. Die Band hat vorab fleißig Singles veröffentlicht, um medial auf sich aufmerksam zu machen. Darüber hinaus sind sie sehr kreativ, um ihre Künste einem Publikum zu präsentieren. Sie hat ihre musikalischen Qualitäten sogar in italienischen Fußgängerzonen unplugged bewiesen. Finde ich eine super Idee! Belohnt wurden sie nun mit einem Vertrag beim Label Scarlet Records. Für so eine junge Band eine verdammt starke Leistung!

Es begann mit der Single „The Storm“!

Mich hat diese groovige catchige Mischung sofort angesprochen. NEVER OBEY AGAIN haben einen ansprechenden Mix geschaffen, der sehr gut zu unterhalten weiß. Der Sound hat poppige Einflüße ohne dies negativ zu meinen. Tatsächlich sind die Songs zum Teil mit ihren rhythmischen Beats sogar gut tanzbar. Dazu gesellen sich noch einige Synthies. Trotzdem schlägt die Band auch mit wuchtiger Härte zu. Man verzichtet allerdings auf extreme Vocals und bleibt beim cleanen Gesang, den Sängerin Carol eindrucksvoll zum Besten gibt.

10 Songs

werden Euch auf dem Album erwarten und die können sich allesamt hören lassen. Sie spielen soundtechnisch alle in einer ähnlichen Liga. Das ist einerseits eine gute Sache, weil es gut funktioniert, doch ich hätte mir im Gesamtkonzept noch etwas mehr Mut gewünscht, indem die Band stellenweise noch mehr aus sich rausgekommen wäre und z.B. mehr Aggressivität gezeigt hätte. Carol singt fantastisch, könnte aber sicherlich noch mehr aus sich herauskommen und mehr Energie entfesseln. Dies hätte auch der Coverversion vom Kulthit „Zombie“ gut getan, die zwar gut gelungen ist, doch ein wenig mehr Schmackes hätte es meiner Meinung nach noch mehr gekickt.

Wie wandlungsfähig und auch schauspielerisch talentiert Sängerin Carol sein kann, zeigt die Single „Toxic Feelings“. In diesem Video erinnert sie stark an die verrückte Figur Harley Quinn aus den DC-Kinofilmen und begeistert mit ihrer schrägen Darbietung. Sie besitzt eine starke Präsenz und hat in den Videos schon viele Seiten von sich gezeigt und lebt die Songs mit jeder Faser. „Toxic Feelings“ ist auch eines der härteren Erlebnisse auf dem Album.

„Stronger“

ist für mich ebenfalls ein ganz starke Vorstellung. Hier hat mich auch die Rap-Einlage von Sängerin Carol überzeugt. Dies konnte man auch beim Song „The Storm“ schon hören. Außerdem gefallen mir die Gitarren in dem Song, die hier zwischendurch mit rockigen Riffs auffallen. Leider gibt es kein Solo, was ich hier sehr passend gefunden hätte. So ein schönes Gitarrensolo findet sich beim Song „Wake Up“, wo es auch perfekt eingebunden wurde und ein tolles Element in diesem Song ist.

Fazit

Ich bleibe bei meiner Aussage, dass NEVER OBEY AGAIN mit der charismatischen Frontfrau Carolina ein Hit werden. Eigentlich sind sie das schon gewissermaßen, denn das Debütalbum „The End Of An Era“ ist auf einem hohen und sehr professionellen Niveau und kann durchweg überzeugen. Auf dem Album finden sich einige echt starke Songs, die bereits Hitpotential besitzen.

Ich mag NEVER OBEY AGAIN und bin gespannt, was von dieser Band noch so kommen wird. Denn sie stehen noch am Anfang! Aber der Start ist schon mal super gelungen.

Now the debut album „The Ende Of An Era“ is about to be released. The band has diligently released singles in advance to attract media attention. In addition, they are very creative to present their arts to an audience. They even proved their musical qualities unplugged in Italian pedestrian zones. I find that a great idea! They have now been rewarded with a contract with the Scarlet Records label. For such a young band a big deal!

It started with the single „The Storm“!

This groovy catchy mix appealed to me immediately. NEVER OBEY AGAIN have created an appealing mix that knows how to entertain very well. The sound has pop influences without meaning this negatively. In fact, some of the songs also invite to dance with their rhythmic beats. In addition, there are some synths integrated. Nevertheless, the band also strikes with massive hardness. However, one renounces extreme vocals and remains with the clean vocals, which singer Carol gives impressively.

10 Songs

will await you on the album. All songs have a similar concept without sounding the same.. On the one hand, this is a good thing, because it works well, but I would have liked to see a little more courage in the overall concept. In my opinion the band could have come out of themselves even more in places and shown more aggression, for example. Carol sings fantastically, but for me she could certainly show more extreme sides. This would also fit to the cover version of the old cult hit „Zombie“ good, which is well done, but little more strong expressive emotions would have kicked it in my opinion even more.

The single „Toxic Feelings“ shows how versatile and also acting talented singer Carol can be. In this video, she strongly reminds of the crazy character Harley Quinn from the DC movies and inspires with her crazy performance. She has a strong presence and has shown many sides of herself in the videos and lives the songs with every fiber. „Toxic Feelings“ is also one of the heavier experiences on the album.

„Stronger“

is also a very cool performance for me. Here, I was also convinced by the hip hop part of singer Carol. This could also be heard in the song „The Storm“ already. I also like the guitars in the song, which stand out here in between with rocking riffs. Unfortunately, there is no solo, which I would have found very suitable here. Such a nice guitar solo can be found in the song „Wake Up“, where it was also perfectly integrated and is a great element in this song.

Conclusion

I stand by my statement that NEVER OBEY AGAIN with charismatic frontwoman Carolina can become a hit. Actually, they already are to a certain extent, because the debut album „The End Of An Era“ is on a high and very professional level and can convince throughout. The album contains some really strong songs that have hit potential.

I like NEVER OBEY AGAIN and am curious what will still come from this band. Because they are still at the beginning! But the start is already thrilling.
