BERIEDIR, DISMOUNTED, RIVERSIDE & mehr

Mannomann! Die weltweite Prog-Szene hat aber in diesen Tagen bzw. den anstehenden Monaten einige interessante Releases zu bieten.

Da sehen wir hier bei metal-heads.de unsere Aufgabe darin, euch diese Veröffentlichungen ein bisschen näher zu bringen. Denn oft schlummern da unentdeckte Talente, großartige Newcomer und etablierte, aber einfach komplett unterbewertete Bands. Es lohnt sich also, einmal genauer hinzuschauen bzw. -hören. Aus der großen Vielfalt der angebotenen Musik haben wir eine Auswahl getroffen. Das einzige Kriterium ist das Prädikat Prog, ansonsten sind wir da total offen, stimmt’s!?

Also dann mal los. Lasst uns schauen, was da für eure Ohren so alles dabei ist. Den Anfang machen heute BERIEDIR mit der ersten Single aus dem am 21.01.2022 erscheinenden Album „AQVA“. Zehn Tracks mit einer knappen Stunde Gesamtspielzeit. „Departure song“ heißt dieser Titel und hier haben wir die Musik schon mal für eure Ohren. Progressiver melancholischer Power Metal aus dem schönen Italien. Das klingt doch sehr ansprechend, oder? Und…wie gefällt euch die Nummer?

Progressive Metal aus Bulgarien: DISMOUNTED

Progressiver Metal aus Bulgarien!? Dann ist die Rede von DISMOUNTED. Der Fünfer hat vor etwa 2 Monaten seine aktuelle Single namens „Enlightenment“ veröffentlicht. Damit gibt es den musikalischen Vorgeschmack auf das für Mitte 2022 vorgesehene Album des Fünfers. Ich finde diesen ersten Track schon sehr vielversprechend und freue mich auf weitere Eindrücke des kommenden Materials. Wir bleiben für euch am Ball. Aber erst einmal gibt es hier das Video zu diesem Song:

RIVERSIDE sind euch sicherlich ein Begriff. Die Formation aus Polen feiert mittlerweile auch schon ihr 20-jähriges Jubiläum. Glückwunsch sagen wir. Und der Vierer lässt sich nicht lumpen und hat eigens einen Song für euch zu dem Anlass aufgenommen: „Story of my dream“.

Frontmann Mariusz Duda meint dazu:

“Story of My Dream” is a composition prepared especially for our 20th anniversary. We wanted it to contain all the characteristic elements of our style, and to combine RIVERSIDE from the first decade, when we sounded a bit “heavier”, and RIVERSIDE from the second decade, the more melancholic-song-oriented one.

The lyrics contain direct quotes and references to many of our previous song titles. To reflect that, the cover of the single, prepared by Travis Smith, also contains fragments of our past covers and graphic designs. “Story of My Dream” is the first song we recorded in the new line-up, with Maciej Meller. It’s also, in a way, a taste of the way we’re going to sound on our new, eighth album (scheduled for 2022).

Although the single itself is not going to be on it, it will be the opening track of this year’s release, “Riverside 20”, containing remastered versions of some of our past compositions. In times of “retromania”, playlists, and all sorts of compilations, we thought it wouldn’t be the worst idea to mark our 20th anniversary with this kind of release.

The compilation will be split into two parts called “The Shorts” and “The Longs”, and will showcase our career to date, summarising what we’ve done so far and preparing us all for the upcoming new album, which will open another music chapter for RIVERSIDE. What will the new album be like? You can find out in the lyrics to the new single, “Story of My Dream”…

Ansonsten (der Sänger hat es ja eben erwähnt) bringen RIVERSIDE zwei digitale Compilations zum Geburtstag heraus, VÖ-Datum war der 19.11.2021. Man hat dabei 19 „kürzere“ Songs und auf der anderen Seite 14 „lange“ Tracks ausgewählt.

Das aktuelle Album „Crimson wreath“ von ILLUSORY haben wir euch bereits in einer entsprechenden Review ausführlich hier auf metal-heads.de vorgestellt. Es macht immer wieder Freude diese Scheibe zu hören. Einen starken Höreindruck vermittelt der Song „A poem I couldn’t rhyme“. Diese Nummer haben wir jetzt für euch als Lyric-Video. Falls ihr noch nicht die Gelegenheit hattet, euch mit dem Material zu befassen, ist das jetzt eine gute Gelegenheit. Hört man rein!
