EWÏG FROST -„Aïn’t No Saïnt“ Review

fackelt das Trio EWÏG FROST aus Österreich rund um Mastermind Niitro (Facebook, Homepage ) ab. Am 30.04.21 wurde das aktuelle Album „Aïn’t No Saïnt“ gezündet. Aufgrund des Bandnamens hätte ich als Musik finsteren Black-Metal erwartet, aber wie heißt es so schön bei Games Of Thrones: „Du weißt nichts, Jon Schnee!“.

Also hier wird zünftiger Rock´n Roll geballert, und zwar mit punkigem Einschnitt und zum Teil mit dunklem Blut getränkt. Doch dies kam mir nicht in den Sinn, als ich mir den ersten Clip von der Band anschaute. Dies war nämlich

„De Gier (Is A Luada)“

Für mich war dieser Song der Funke, der mein Interesse an dieser Band entzündete. Allerdings hat „De Gier“ einen Ausnahmecharakter auf dem Album, ist aber einfach genial gemacht. Vorbereitet wird man auf den Song durch den schleppenden schwarzen Instrumentaltrack „1918“. der in der ersten Hälfte mit einer starken Portion Blues daherkommt, sich aber dann immer düsterer entwickelt.

Wie soll man jedoch nun diesen Song „De Gier“ beschreiben? Kaum möglich! „De Gier“ hat einen schmissigen bluesigen Groove mit einer leicht doomigen Atmosphäre. Beim Refrain kommen sogar Bläser zum Einsatz, was ich persönlich sehr genial finde. Ist mal was anderes, ebenso wie der ganze Song. Im Video ist der Mastermind Niitro von EWÏG FROST zu bewundern.

Aufs Gas bitte

Let´s ride the bad horse like old school. Unverfälschter reiner Rock´n Roll galoppiert bei „Bad Beat Boogie“ durch die Gehörgänge und wirbelt mein Adrenalin nach oben. Hier wird noch zeitweise klassisch, aber feurig in die Klaviertasten gehauen. Der Bass groovt ordentlich und die Gitarren fetzen frech vor sich hin, nur noch gesteigert durch das schmutzig scharfe Gitarrensolo.

Oh verdammt… Ich werde schon wieder durstig und bekomme Gelüste auf ein kaltes Hopfengetränk. Solche Musik spricht immer bestimmte Synapsen in meinem Gehirn an und es geht im Zombiemodus ab an den Kühlschrank. Klack und Zisch und Prost! Apropos Zombie…

Postapokalyptisch treibt es der Song „Satan II“, der höllisch gut den Gashahn aufdreht und es ordentlich mit MOTÖRHEAD Benzin qualmen lässt. Also ab dafür!

Apokalypse

wirkt immer wie ein Begriff aus einer fernen Zukunft. Das Video zu dem Song „New Cold War“ zeigt in sehr drastischer Form, welche apokalyptischen Zustände wir in der Gegenwart schon haben. Dabei fragt man sich doch, wie weit wir noch von vom völligen Chaos entfernt sind. Die Apokalypse ist kein plötzliches Ereignis, sondern ein schleichender Prozess, der ab einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt kaum oder nicht mehr umkehrbar ist. Dies hat schon die Vergangenheit gezeigt. „New Cold War“ verdeutlich das mit schnellem knallhartem Sound und passenden Bildern beängstigend eindrucksvoll.

Fazit

EWÏG FROST machen es mit ihrem Album „Aïn’t No Saïnt“ getreu dem Motto: „In der Kürze liegt die Würze!“ Das Album geht nämlich leider nur 28 Minuten! Das finde ich schon arg kurz und hat trotz der 10 Songs eher EP-Charakter.

Aber „Aïn’t No Saïnt“ bietet in der kurzen Zeit allerlei guter Stoff und das Ding rockt wie Sau. EWÏG FROST lässt es ordentlich jucken und wirkt sehr angriffslustig. Dabei wird kurzweilige Unterhaltung geboten und die Palette reicht von punkigen bluesgeimpften Abgehnummern bis hin zu ungewöhnlich extravaganten Songs, die mit geilen Ideen umgesetzt und zum Teil mit dunklem Blut geschrieben worden sind. Es ist wie ein scharfer Chilieintopf, der dich brennen lässt und echt durstig macht. Echt böse, aber lecker! Und gerne nimmt man noch mal einen Nachschlag! Von allem bitte!

Burning Rock´n Roll

torches the trio EWÏG FROST from Austria around mastermind Niitro(Facebook, Homepage ). On 30.04.21 they have ignited their current album „Aïn’t No Saïnt“. Because of the band name I would have expected sinister Black Metal as music, but as they say in Games Of Thrones: „You know nothing, Jon Snow!“.

So here is hearty Rock’n Roll banging, and with punky incision and partly soaked with dark blood. But this did not occur to me when I watched the first clip from the band. This was namely

„De Gier (Is A Luada)“.

For me, this song was the spark that ignited my interest in this band. However, „De Gier“ has an exceptional character on the album, but is simply brilliantly done. You are prepared for the song by the dragging black instrumental track „1918“. which comes along with a strong portion of blues in the first half, but then develops more and more gloomy.

But how to describe this song „De Gier“ now? Hardly possible! „De Gier“ has a snappy bluesy groove with a slightly doomy atmosphere. In the chorus even trumpets are used, which I personally find very ingenious. Is something different, as well as the whole song. In the video you can admire the mastermind Niitro of EWÏG FROST.

Pedal to the metal

Let´s ride the bad horse like old school. Unadulterated pure rock’n roll gallops through the ears during „Bad Beat Boogie“ and swirls my adrenaline upwards. Here, the piano keys are still played in a fiery classical manner at times. The bass grooves properly and the guitars shred impudently, only increased by the dirty sharp guitar solo.

Oh damn… I’m getting thirsty and get cravings for a cold blond beer. Music like that always appeals to certain synapses in my brain and it goes off to the fridge in zombie mode. Clack and hiss and cheers!

Speaking of zombie… Post-apocalyptic comes the song „Satan II“ along. They heat on hellishly and let it smoke properly with MOTÖRHEAD gasoline. So go for it!

Apocalypse

always seems like a term from a distant future. The video for the song „New Cold War“ shows in a very drastic form what apocalyptic conditions we already have in the present. One wonders how far we are from complete chaos. The apocalypse is not a sudden event, but a creeping process, which is hardly or no longer reversible from a certain time. This has already been shown in the past. „New Cold War“ illustrates this with fast, hard-hitting sound and appropriate images in a frighteningly impressive way.

Result

EWÏG FROST make it with their album „Aïn’t No Saïnt“ true to the motto: „Brevity is the soul of wit“ The album is unfortunately only 28 minutes! I find that already very short and has despite the 10 songs rather EP character.

But in this short time „Aïn’t No Saïnt“ gives you all kinds of good stuff and the thing rocks like hell. The blackened rock’n rollers EWÏG FROST let it crackle properly and seem very aggressive. EWÏG FROST offer exciting entertainment and the palette ranges from punky blues-inoculated songs to unusually extravagant songs, which have been implemented with cool ideas and are partly written in dark blood. It’s like a spicy chili stew that will leave you burning and make you really thirsty. Quite hot, but delicious! And you’ll gladly want seconds! Of everything!
