ROTTING EMPIRE-„Buried In The Past“ Review
(English review down below)
Death Metal
Der Titelsong „Buried In The Past“
Einmal neuen Nacken bitte!
Das Outro „Journey Into The Past“
English review
Death Metal
ROTTING EMPIRE (Facebook) from the south of Germany will release the album „Buried In The Past“ on 07/31/2022. The origin of the band goes back to the year 2000 and since then they have gained a good reputation, especially in the south of Germany. And not without reason! Because the men know how to make the friends of hard metal happy. Let’s check out the new album.
The cover artwork
stands out for its simplicity. No elaborately designed digital image, but a simple old-school drawing, which implements the album title in style. This has real rarity value these days and a cool charm. The album consists of 10 tracks with a playing time of 43 minutes.
A dark mixture
ROTTING EMPIRE have put together and took only to the spicy stuff. Here there are no delicate palates, but tough fare with an extra dose of burning chili. It burns from front to back. Accordingly, it goes to the point without appetizer. The opener „So I“ makes unmistakably clear immediately what the listener has to expect. Although melodies refine the whole beating, it remains consistently hard as fuck. The sound is rather old-school without frills. ROTTING EMPIRE do it completely without clean vocals.
The title song „Buried In The Past“
is also a perfect example of how to create an impressive synphony of gloom that begins spiritually at first. But of course it will not stop there when the hard fist of Death Metal strikes. There is hit with full force in the soup that it just splashes. Successful tempo changes keep the tension in the song and do not let boredom arise. In addition to the melodies, one spares in no case to neck-destroying parts.
A new neck please!
So one thing is clear. The fist of Death Metal also likes to strike in chord mode with blastbeat attacks. In any case, clean vocals will not sweeten the sound a little bit. ROTTING EMPIRE are also not responsible for smart desserts. Here there is just a hearty way. Seasoning is not necessary as mentioned above. Here you can destroy your neck from the beginning to the end.
A real highlight for me is the song „Depression“. It hits purely like the fist of King Kong and accelerates later from minute 03:30 on Superman tempo. So cool done with this crazy guitar solo, that you already get dizzy. A mega killer song!
The outro „Journey Into The Past“
is one of the best I have ever heard. An instrumental track, but absolutely worth listening to. A real hammer! It starts very mystical with clean guitar sounds, powerful bass and atmospheric drums. But then follows the smooth transition into the massive riff-heavy part. These howling guitars sound crazy and make full alarm. So ingenious you can end an album. The track could have lasted even longer for me (And this I say rarely in instrumental tracks!).
Conclusion
With their album „Buried In The Past“ ROTTING EMPIRE make all fans happy who want to get it on the hard way. Here you get crunchy hotly food with spicy melodic garnishes. Who dares, may taste with pleasure!
