BLACK SOUL HORDE (Facebook) aus Griechenland widmen sich dem Thema Horrorgeschichten. Das Cover erinnert an die Schriftstellerlegende H.P. Lovecraft. Der riesige Kraken als machtvolles Wesen, welches durch einen Fluch in einer Unterwasserstadt sozusagen eingeschläfert wurde, bis er irgendwann aufgeweckt wird, um die Menschheit zu vernichten. (Als ob die Menschheit dafür ein furchteinflößendes Monster bräuchte. Das bekommen wir auch selbst hervorragend hin.) Na wie auch immer…. BLACK SOULD HORDE werden Euch ihre Horrorgeschichten am 10.11.2021 mit dem Album „Horrors From The Void“ näherbringen.

Mit Schmackes

steigt die Horde in das Album mit dem Song „Beneath The Mountains Of Madness“ ein. Fettes Riffing mit martialischen Drums bescheren einen mächtigen Einstieg. Im weiteren Verlauf gibt sich der Song keine Blöße und peitscht imponierend voran und legt zwischendurch noch an Härte zu. Damit meine ich z.b. den irren Part mit dem verflucht großartigen Gitarrensolo, dass sich immer weiter und weiter in eine wahnsinnige Raserei reinsteigert. Pure Ekstase!

„Cthulhu“

ist dieses in der Einleitung erwähnte riesenhafte geflügelte Krakenwesen (Wikipedia), welches in der Tiefe nur darauf wartet, um die Menschheit heimzusuchen. Das Wesen bildet die thematische Grundlage der ersten Single „Beware Of The Deep“. Musikalisch gesehen hauen uns die Griechen höllisch guten Heavy Metal um die Ohren. Sie schaffen zu Beginn eine bedächtige geheimnisvolle Atmosphäre, um anschließend mit peppigen Riffs und treibenden Drums durchzustarten. Kraftvoll mit epischen Ansätzen weiß der Song zu begeistern. Zwischendurch geht schön die Post ab und das Tempo zieht noch mal an. Mir gefallen die fließenden Wechsel in der Songstruktur. die alles noch lebendiger wirken lassen.

Melodien

sind ein essentieller Bestandteil der Songs von BLACK SOUL HORDE. Trotzdem ist der Sound keine laue Sommerbrise, sondern bläst stürmisch und heavy ins Gesicht. Das Gitarrenspiel und Drumming wirken sehr lebendig und bringen viel Dynamik in den Sound.

Gesanglich verlässt man sich nicht nur auf wunderbare Harmonien, sondern formt es hier und da immer mal anders. Bei „Blinding Void“ lässt Sänger Jim Kotsis sehr harsche Vocals erklingen, die sich mit den cleanen Vocals ein Battle liefern und schließlich in den hymnenhaften Chorus münden.

„Lair Of The Wolf“ ist wohl der klassischste Song auf dem Album, da er am geradlinigsten im flotten Tempo durchstartet. Tolle Riffs mit wunderbaren Hooks prägen den Song.

Der anschließende Song „Malediction Of The Dead“ überrascht dann mit einer ganz anderen Machart. Der Beginn ist langsam doomig gehalten und kommt trotzdem gewaltig rüber. Erst später galoppiert der Song flotter voran, aber der bedrückende Doomfaktor bleibt erhalten.

„Betrayal Of The King“ eröffnet den Song zwar auch gemächlich, aber so bleibt es nicht. Denn der Song erfährt eine starke Entwicklung. Es geht knackig los und auch der ruhige Beginn wird thematisch noch mal aufgegriffen, doch wenn es mit dem heißen Gitarrensolo abgeht, dann gibt es kein Halten und der Song schießt voran, um schließlich am Ende mit einem ruhigen Auslauf den Kreis zu schließen.

Fazit

BLACK SOUL HORDE spielen auf ihrem Album „Horrors From The Void“ einen imposanten und sehr dynamischen Heavy Metal mit einem Drang zu epischen Hymnen. Das Album ist um einiges mitreißender und interessanter als manch ein Output von namenhaften Bands in letzter Zeit. Ich denke, dass BLACK SOUL HORDE noch mutiger auftreten und die Grenzen weiter ausloten könnten, so wie sie es z.B. beim Song „Malediction Of The Dead“ gezeigt haben.

BLACK SOUL HORDE (Facebook) from Greece are dedicated to horror stories. The cover reminds of the writer legend H.P. Lovecraft. The giant octopus as a powerful creature, which was put to sleep, so to speak, by a curse in an underwater place, until it is awakened at some point to destroy humanity. (As if humanity needed a scary monster for that. We’re doing an excellent job of that ourselves). Well anyway…. BLACK SOULD HORDE will bring you their horror stories on 2021-11-10 with the album „Horrors From The Void“.

With force

the horde enters the album with the song „Beneath The Mountains Of Madness“. Fat riffing with martial drums provide a powerful start. In the further course of the song whips impressively ahead and increases with hardness. By this I mean, for example, the crazy part with the cursed great guitar solo that goes on and on into a mad frenzy. A real rush!

„Cthulhu“

is this giant winged octopus creature mentioned in the introduction(Wikipedia), which is just waiting in the deep to haunt mankind. The creature forms the thematic basis of the first single „Beware Of The Deep“. Musically, the Greeks smash us with hellishly good Heavy Metal. They create a thoughtful mysterious atmosphere at the beginning, to then take off with fency riffs and driving drums. Powerful with epic approaches, the song knows how to inspire. In between, the post goes off nicely and the tempo picks up again. I like the flowing changes in the song structure, which make everything seem even more alive.

Melodies

are an essential part of the songs of BLACK SOUL HORDE. Nevertheless, the sound is not a mild summer breeze, but blows stormy and heavy in the face. The guitar playing and drumming seem very lively and bring a lot of dynamics into the sound.

Vocally, one relies not only on wonderful harmonies, but forms it here and there always different. In „Blinding Void“ singer Jim Kotsis lets very harsh vocals sound, which fight a battle with the clean vocals and finally lead to the hymn-like chorus.

„Lair Of The Wolf“ is probably the most classic song on the album, as it starts off the most straightforward at a brisk pace. Great riffs with wonderful hooks characterize the song.

The following song „Malediction Of The Dead“ surprises with a completely different style. The beginning is kept slowly doomy but comes across powerful. Afterwards the song gallops forward more briskly, but the oppressive doom factor remains.

„Betrayal Of The King“ also opens the song leisurely, but it doesn’t stay that way. Because the song offers a strong development. It starts crisply and also the quiet beginning is thematically taken up again, but when it comes off with the hot guitar solo, then there is no stopping and the song shoots forward to finally close the circle with a quiet end.

Conclusion

BLACK SOUL HORDE play on their album „Horrors From The Void“ an impressive and very dynamic heavy metal with an urge to epic hymns. The album is much more captivating and interesting than some output of well-known bands in recent times. I think that BLACK SOUL HORDE could perform even more courageously and explore the boundaries further, as they have shown for example on the song „Malediction Of The Dead“.
