CREDIC-„Vermillion Oceans“ Review

aus Stuttgart gibt es am 22.04.2022 von der Band CREDIC (Facebook) auf die Ohren. Das neue Album „Vermillion Oceans“ steht bereit, um auf die Menschen losgelassen zu werden. Wie sooft ist die Kategorisierung in der Überschrift nur eine grobe Einordnung. Diese Feststellung musste man in den letzten Jahren immer häufiger bei Bands machen. Die musikalische Entwicklung im Rock und Metal ist so vielfältig geworden, dass Grenzen zwischen Musikrichtungen immer mehr verschwimmen. So auch bei CREDIC, die ebenfalls ihre eigene Art des Metal spielen.

Eine finstere Kraft

Der Opener „Tides Disharmonized“ macht sofort eindrucksvoll klar, was CREDIC auf dem Kasten haben. Das stimmige Songwriting ist sicherlich eine Sache, die CREDIC beherrschen. Im ersten Song steckt schon so viel drin, dass man nur staunen kann. Es wird eine tiefe spürbare Atmosphäre konstruiert. Neben grausamer Härte öffnet sich eine mystische Tiefe, in die man durch eine finstere Kraft hineingezogen wird. Diese Kraft tritt mit zerstörerischen Growls, diabolischen Riffs und brutalen Drums auf. Ein schwerer Bass sorgt für die erschütternden Schwingungen. Dazu werden harte Breakdowns geschmettert. Plötzlich findet man sich in einer entrückten Phase wieder, die von sphärischen Keybordklängen mit einem eingewobenen tollen Gitarrensolo erzeugt wird. Ein fantastischer Track!

Es wird nachgeladen

Damit haben CREDIC aber ihr Pulver noch lange nicht verschossen. Nein, sie legen erbarmungslos nach und feuern den Titeltrack „Vermillion Oceans“ ab. Ein verdammt harte Nummer, die es einem schonungslos besorgt. Auch hier und da ertönen Synthies, die das Ganze ein wenig auflockern oder die passende Tiefe in der Atmossphäre erzeugen. Allerdings wird hier nichts aufgeweicht. Freunde der harten Töne werden bei CREDIC auf jeden Fall ihre helle Freude haben. Die Songs weisen immer wieder ein variables Riffing auf und nichts wird einfach so von vorne bis hinten gleichförmig durchgeprügelt und spielt sich rein technisch auf einem hohen Level ab.

Grenzbereiche

Die Jungs grasen in Sachen Härte alles ab. Mitunter befindet sich sogar im Grenzbereich zum Metalcore oder Black Metal. Hört sich spannend an! Ist es auch! CREDIC schaffen es auch in den langsamen Parts mächtig schwer rüberzukommen. Ein Beispiel dafür wäre der Song „The Path“ (der mich stellenweise an DARK TRANQULITITY erinnert) oder „Autumn Spring“, der den Hörer zudem mit intensiven epischen Parts einfängt, bei denen die finsteren Growls nur mit Drums, Bass und Synthies begleitet werden. Das hört sich mega an!

No clean singing

CREDIC machen eine Sache noch etwas anders, als viele andere Bands heutzutage. CREDIC verzichten komplett auf klaren Gesang. Und auch wenn ich ein Fan von Kontrasten zwischen harschen und cleanen Vocals bin, so empfinde ich es durchaus als postitiv, wenn es mal nicht so ist. Denn ich vermisse es hier nicht. Sänger Stefan präsentiert seinen gutturalen Gesang sehr facettenreich und vermittelt mit seiner Stimme die passenden Vibes zu den Songs.

Fazit

CREDIC landen mit ihrem Album „Vermillion Oceans“ einen harten Volltreffer. Ihnen ist das Kunststück gelungen ein durch und durch kraftstrotzendes Album voller Atmosphäre zu erschaffen. Man hört es und man liebt es! Die Songs packen vehement zu und fesseln den Hörer. Da haben CREDIC ein großartiges Werk erschaffen, dass sich mit einem hohen Level an Eigenständigkeit und Professionalität hinter den ganz Großen der Szene nicht verstecken muss. „Vermillion Oceans“ überflügelt mit Leichtigkeit viele Veröffentlichungen in diesem Sektor. One had to make this statement more and more often with bands in the last years. The musical development in Rock and Metal has become so diverse that boundaries between musical genres are becoming more and more blurred. So also with CREDIC, who also play their own kind of Metal.

A sinister force

The opener „Tides Disharmonized“ immediately makes it impressively clear what CREDIC have up their sleeve. The coherent songwriting is certainly one thing that CREDIC have mastered. In the first song there is already so much in it that one can only marvel. A deep palpable atmosphere is constructed. In addition to cruel hardness, a mystical depth opens up, into which you are drawn by a sinister force. This force appears with destructive growls, diabolic riffs and brutal drums. A heavy bass provides the shattering vibrations. In addition, hard breakdowns are belted. Suddenly you find yourself in a rapturous phase created by spherical keybord sounds with a great guitar solo woven in. A fantastic track!

It is reloaded

But with this CREDIC haven’t finish with their power. No, they mercilessly follow up and fire the title track „Vermillion Oceans“. A damn hard number, which worries it relentlessly. Synths also sound here and there, which loosen the whole thing up a bit or create the appropriate depth in the atmosphere. However, nothing is softened here. Friends of the hard tones will have their bright joy with CREDIC in any case. The songs always have a variable riffing and nothing is simply beaten from front to back uniformly and plays purely technically on a high level.

Borderlands

The guys graze everything in terms of hardness. Sometimes it is even in the border area to Metalcore or Black Metal. Sounds exciting! CREDIC manage to come across mighty heavy even in the slow parts. An example of this would be the song „The Path“ (which reminds me of DARK TRANQULITITY in places) or „Autumn Spring“, which also captures the listener with intense epic parts where the sinister growls are accompanied only by drums, bass and synths. That sounds mega!

No clean singing

CREDIC do one thing a bit different than many other bands nowadays. CREDIC completely renounce clear vocals. And even if I am a fan of contrasts between harsh and clean vocals, I find it quite postitive when it is not so. Because I don’t miss it here. Singer Stefan presents his guttural vocals very multifaceted and conveys with his voice the appropriate vibes to the songs.

Conclusion

CREDIC landed a hard hit with their album „Vermillion Oceans“. They have succeeded in creating a thoroughly powerful album full of atmosphere. You listen to it and you love it! The songs grab vehemently and captivate the listener. CREDIC have created a great work with a high level of independence and professionalism that does not have to hide behind the greats of the scene. „Vermillion Oceans“ easily surpasses many releases in this sector. Congratulations!
