LEAGUE OF DISTORTION-„League Of Distortion“ Review
(English review below)
Modern Metal
Das Motto von unserem Webzine ‚metal-heads.de‘ heißt „distortion is our passion“.
Stark
Zu meinen Favoriten gehört ebenso der Song „I’m A Bitch“.
Wow!
English review
Modern Metal
is also a genre, under which you can grasp a lot. But it actually also fits perfectly to LEAGUE OF DISTORTION (Facebook), who released their self-titled debut album today. The motto of our webzine ‚metal-heads.de‘ is „distortion is our passion“. I would say that fits together quite well.
LEAGUE OF DISTORTION shows a very interesting combination of band members. Anna Brunner (vocalist ‚Ace‘) has already enjoyed considerable international success with the symphonic metal band Exit Eden in 2017. Jim Müller (guitarist ‚Arro‘) from KISSIN‘ DYNAMITE is also in the mix, as are Felix Rehmann (bassist ‚Ax‘) and Tino Calmbach (drummer ‚Aeon‘). Now you are also quite curious, aren’t you? In terms of sound, the band has now completely repositioned itself.
A guarantee of success
the ingredients could well be. Certainly, the fact to have a label like Napalm Records in the back is not exactly disadvantageous. And if you look at the clicks on You Tube, nothing should stand in the way of a rocket launch. But what they have to offer?
Strong
Well…. already the opener „Wolf Or Lamb“ sounds indeed more than convincing. The extremely charismatic front woman Anna is a really great singer and exudes a dark flair here, whose range covers everything from secret mysterious to powerfully stunning. Yes, she dominates the proceedings from front to back, with the instrumental faction giving her the perfect stage. All in all, it’s a perfect song that’s super fleshed out in its modern direction and makes a strong first impression.
A true powerhouse
is revealed with the second track „My Revenge“, which is no less perfectly staged. It increases again in heaviness and shines with breathtaking hooks. Anna here comes along dirtier and more aggressive and the chorus is simply a red hot revelation that sets you on fire. The board-hard riffing with the grooving bass and the lively drumming provides further adrenaline rushes. If you’re not excited by this, you definitely have a problem. The song is sheer madness!
Forceful hardness
is more than enough on the album, and that in various forms. The band has really tried to offer a very varied program. And the efforts lead to impressive results. Each song has special individual vibes. One of my favorites is also the song „I’m A Bitch“. What the fuck….. This is a fucking awesome song. And why? It’s different, but hot as hell. The beginning with its exotic guitar sounds and the cool dirty voice of Anna, only to later go into a crazy brutal riff attack. A song full of contrasts and with a stunnig climax, that hits you in the face in the end. This song is crazy hot shit!
Soft tones
are not too many on this album, although Anna also masters these very well. You can get an impression of this with the song „SIN“, which also intoxicated me very much. It starts so wonderfully calm and thoughtful, with Anna’s voice sounding very fragile and hurt at first. It really goes to the heart, but the voice transforms and from the initial vulnerable expression gradually develops a powerful resistance, which produces immense strength in its powerful emotional expression. The finale reaches epic dimensions. Wow! What a journey!
I could have imagined a nice guitar solo on this song, even though the band might be more into other accents, I could imagine that there would be even more possibilities with a second guitarist. Nevertheless there are for me
no losses.
The hit density on the album is really quite high. Purely personally, the songs „Rebel By Choice“ and „The Bitter End“ do not reach the other fantastic anthems of the album. But to avoid misunderstandings, it should be mentioned that these songs are still of good quality. But with many other songs on the album, the level has simply been set very high.
For example, on the song „It Hurts So Good“, which features a duet with Christoph Wieczorek from the band ANNISOKAY. A fabulous contrast program that rides a crazy trip with different elements. The vocals of Christoph fit masterfully into the song and give this once again a special touch.
Conclusion
WOW! There aren’t many debut albums that get me so excited and carried away right off the bat. LEAGUE OF DISTORTION are very modern in their expression and have an incredibly mature album that is professional through and through with sophistication. They offer a highly intense experience. The songs are red hot and torch a massive hit density. Live, these songs should set the audience ablaze easily. Anna’s dominance literally jumps out at you, slams her claws into your neck and sweeps you along with unbridled determination.
