VOLTER – „High Gain Overkill“ – VÖ 22.01.21 – Review
Review deutsch/english (down below)
Rock´n Roll is still alive!
Kiss My Ass

Review english
Rock´n Roll is still alive!
What the hell is going on here? Has LEMMY risen from rocker hell to bring us salvation? This thought briefly popped into my head when I heard the first sounds of VOLTER.
VOLTER (Facebook ) are a band from Germany and have dedicated themselves unmistakably to the sound of MOTÖRHEAD. If you don’t know anything about the cult band MOTÖRHEAD because you have been living behind the moon or even further away, this article is recommended (Link ).
One potion of VOLTER
is in any case completely sufficient to immediately raise my mood. The effect sets in immediately after the first chords. The effect even increases when you watch the awesome video for the opening track „High Gain Overkill“. VOLTER are there on their mission to bring the belief in the good old honest Rock’n Roll back among the people. In doing so, they use very imaginative and radical methods. In any case, I had a great time.
Kiss My Ass
is representative for the sound of VOLTER. Here is rocked without regard to etiquette simply and unmistakably. It doesn’t take a long time to get in your ears, in the veins and into your heart. VOLTER almost always step on the gas pedal through the bottom plate and only rarely shift down a gear.
The Messiah calls
But even when the tempo is slowed down, VOLTER don’t lose any of their coolness. Especially the last song „Messiah’s Call“ is as a bouncer a damn snappy midtempo number, whose middle part is even carried by a slightly gloomy aura. There you can almost speak of an atmospheric number. This other facet in the sound of VOLTER I like very much and brings variety into the program.
Result
I want to keep it with my review like VOLTER did with their album „High Gain Overkill“: Short, crisp, to the point!
VOLTER resurrect the legend Lemmy with „High Gain Overkill“ without copying him clumsily. The three men let it crash hellishly with their straightforward dirty rock’n roll, and almost without exception at full throttle. That makes a lot of fun! But even if each song is a blast on its own, the songs sound quite similar overall. This has the advantage that you can play any song and it always fits. A little more variety I would wish for the future, because as already mentioned above, I like the last song „Messiah’s Call“ extraordinarily well. I still see a lot of potential there!
Nevertheless…One thing is sure: „High Gain Overkill“ is an awesome rock’n roll disc with gasoline…ähh..Sorry…. whiskey in the blood. Absolute party guarantee with 11 songs that grab you by the balls! So turn up the volume, rock the turntable and let it go!
